Never again, visited for the weekend. Disappointed, if you are looking for food options, the breakfast buffet was lame. They had Colombian rice with beans , soup, and potatoes, breads, fruits, but rice and beans at a Hotel Called The Brown??? For breakfast??? Not only that but 80% of the people eating were with guest bracelets and were locals which were young men with women that had fake butts. The staff not very friendly typically and not on top of the guest as you would think in a place like they describe. Save your money and time and go to Sofitel Baru.

The room door is severelly rusted. Many other rooms also have the door rusted. It looks bad. Also no local TV or cable channels, if you want to watch something in TV you must have a colombian Netflix account. The only thing you can watch is you tube. But since we lost power twice in less than 24 hours, the internet connection is lost and when power comes back, you have to call the lobby for tecniccian to reconect the internet.

The stay was perfect, Room was clean staff was corteus and the food was very good, we were a super large party (60-70 people). So we kind of put the hotel staff to a stress test, which they pass with honors. My only advise to them are to look for an alternative to the tukies to drive poeople up and down to the parking hotel door or the praia restaurant. two (3 cramped) seats are not so convenient when you have so many people triying to go different places. and the large one for 6 peoples was not always available. the other thing would be to add some real seating at the Praia, the Main door and the Parking to wait for the transportation.

Check-in was crazy. They had no room to store our bags and 50 people checked in at the same time with no rooms available. So everyone is just standing around waiting with suitcases filling most of the room. They told us our room would be done in an hour, but it took 3-4 hours to get all of our rooms ready. We could have left and done something with our time, but the communication was terrible. Not equipped for so many people.

A beautiful hotel in a fantastic location. I have very mixed feelings about The Brown, Guatape.

On the positives, the hotel is located in paradise - a beautifully secluded location. The restaurant food is superb, and the beach club is incredible.

However, The Brown is advertised as a Luxury hotel 'Autograph' which was not matched by the service.

The hotel presents images of a well equipped gym, and whilst there is good cardio equipment, many of the images are outdated with almost all of the weight training equipment not in the gym - it was actually very basic for a hotel gym weight equipment wise, with one multi gym, two legs machines and a few free weights.

The hotel rooms are advertised as sound proofed - this is a misrepresentation. On my final night I was kept up all night from thumping music on a boat in the lake - far from the hotel. The thin windows do not do much for outside noise at all.

Check in was not a welcoming experience with security not speaking english and asking us for our hotel bracelets - which we did not have prior to check in. He demanded proof of reservation at the hut - where there is no cell service.. Eventually he had a clipboard with guest names - that could have been simply used from the start. We were driven up to the hotel reception to line up for 10 minutes before we could check in.

The bathroom had mould in several places by the toilet wall, shower wall and elsewhere which was obvious and what I would expect in a basic hotel.

The hotel itself is a GEM in Guatape that you have to experience. The views are breathtaking and attention to detail are 5-stars. The only reason I'm not giving it 5-star rating is that there were a few issues with my suite (hot water took forever to come out, room jacuzzi useless with no hot water, etc). We were served a pork chop medium term at the restaurant (which is a big deal for Pork as it's not steak) and service in general was very slow. The restaurant at the bottom was so much better in taste and quality, which was strange.. Other than that, amazing property!

Out stay at The Brown Autograph Collection hotel in Guatapé was absolutely perfect. The service was outstanding—every staff member was warm, professional, and attentive from start to finish. The breakfast was delicious, with fresh local ingredients and a great variety that made the morning something to look forward to.

The room was impeccable—beautifully designed, spotless, and incredibly comfortable. I especially loved the jacuzzi area right in front of the embalse; it’s the perfect spot to unwind while enjoying the most breathtaking views of the lake and mountains.

Every detail of this hotel reflects quality and care. It’s a serene, luxurious escape that captures the magic of Guatapé. Highly recommended!

The hotel itself is beautiful, very clean, and offers the perfect atmosphere to relax. I truly enjoyed the property and everything it has to offer. However, my experience with the staff left me disappointed. At check-in, I presented my American passport to avoid the resort fee, since tourists are not required to pay it. Unfortunately, I was still charged, and I feel this may have been due to my Colombian background, even though I do not live here. For reference, I didn’t encounter this issue when staying in Cali.

Additionally, the restaurant service was extremely slow. It took nearly 30 minutes to receive a drink, and I had to ask three different staff members before it finally arrived.

While the property itself exceeded my expectations, the service made my stay less enjoyable. Because of this, I would not choose to stay here again despite how beautiful the hotel is.

Nuestra experiencia en este hotel fue totalmente desagradable. El administrador tuvo un trato déspota, desafiante y prepotente, haciéndonos pasar un pésimo momento. Se tomó atribuciones que no le correspondían, demostrando un exceso de poder que en realidad no tenía, lo que refleja una grave falta de respeto y un mal servicio al cliente.

Lo más grave es que, por el simple hecho de dar una opinión, se nos negó el hospedaje, lo cual constituye una represalia injustificada y una vulneración directa de nuestros derechos como consumidores.

Consideramos que se afectaron los siguientes derechos fundamentales del consumidor (Ley 1480 de 2011 – Estatuto del Consumidor):
•Derecho al trato digno y respetuoso.
•Derecho a acceder libremente a los bienes y servicios ofrecidos al público, sin discriminación ni represalias.
•Derecho a recibir un servicio de calidad, acorde con lo anunciado y contratado.
•Derecho a la información clara, veraz y suficiente.
•Derecho a presentar reclamos y obtener una respuesta adecuada, sin ser castigados por ello.

1. I could not communicate with the hotel by email or phone until I arrived at the front desk and was given a what’s app number that actually worked and never did they return any emails

2. The front desk staff was slow and inefficient during the entire stay
3. The walls of the rooms would allow me to listen to my next door room’s conversations
4. Cleaning staff stated at 7 am with a fun and laughter conversation directly in a a small room right by my room
5. The mattress was tired and lumpy with permanent indentations on each side of the king bed with pillows that would not support a child’s neck
6. I stayed 5 night at 300 dollars per night and on the 4th and fifth night they had a large party with music blaring and tic tok motorcycle transports going buy until 3 am each night
7. The road to and from hotel to Guatapé and el Peñol was dirt and felt like I was placing my life in danger riding in taxis
8. We lost power twice during the stay
9. I was not allowed to bring my own insulated cup to the pool to drink the hotels drinks out of and was rudely treated by an non English speaking person
10. I noticed many of the females wearing garments that were clearly against the rules we were given by the front desk at breakfast lunch and dinner along with pool attire
11. Three times we had people arguing into the night in rooms and hallways waking me up at 2-4am
12. I believed that what I was getting was a quiet secluded hotel not a weekend party

I had a terrible checkin experience at this property, they ask for physical ID for every single person staying and my wife had a picture of the passport as walking with those documents in Colombia is risky. So we explained the situation and the lobby receptionist was rude and referred us to read the law. The property is beautiful but the service and the staff has a lot to improve. We escalated the situation and the manager was kind enough to understand and help us. I stayed before at Domus glamping and the experience was 1000% better than this luxury hotel. I wouldn't stay here again.

While dining at your on-site restaurant, l discovered what appeared to be a worm or maggot embedded in the burger meat I ordered. This was not only shocking and distressing but also completely unacceptable-especially as it was my very first meal at your property and my first impression of what is supposed to be a reputable establishment.
Food safety and hygiene should be a top priority, and this experience raises serious concerns about the standards in your kitchen. I am extremely disappointed and disturbed.

To make matters worse, management did a HORRENDOUS job at handling this entire situation.

Loved the amazing ! Breathtaking view this hotel had around guatape . The sun setting and sun rising was just unbelievable. Would come back, just one thing though. I had to wait for an hour for my jet ski appointment, I was told if I was late or didn’t cancel 90 minz before I would be liable 100% for the payment. But when I waited over an hr for the guy in charge of the jet skis, there was no apology and was not offered any further accommodation. I asked to check out one hour later due to this inconvenience. And was told straight no that wasn’t our problem by hotel staff. And was told if I checked out any later a late fee would apply.

The breakfast in the morning was great with a vast variety of food to choose from. I understand they have a dress code for dinner and you have to reserve to use the jacuzzi. Staying at this property is pretty much like staying by yourself. The customer service is terrible. The food at the restaurant takes a very, very long time before you ever served. Nobody checks on you at the tables. The general demeanor of the staff at the front reception is not very friendly or accommodating. I am a very understanding person and very rarely will leave negative comments but I feel other people should be warned about this location. Not worth the price. You’re paying to the views not the service. At that price point the service should be amazing since those views can be found in other properties.
