Let's begin with $250/night. Nothing in the living area worked. TV, lamp, even the phone was not working. Reported, no one came to check it out. We were there for 2 nights. No breakfast, and to get ice you get a bag at the desk, and use the ice machine in the food mart area by the desk. We were on the 4th floor. No maid service available, you have to use the basket in your room to take the dirty linen down to the desk to get clean linen. I didn't know I was a part of their housekeeping staff.
The final straw for me was the last morning I get up, and there was a roach on my cup. I lost it, that was too much for what we were paying per night.

The only problem I had was checking out. I split the cost with my sister and only her card got charged for the full amount which caused her card to have a negative balance. Not cool

I reserved a room that was supposed to have a couch as well. While the room was acceptable looking, it was small and only had a chair wedged between the wall and the queen sized bed and no couch. The bed was extremely uncomfortable and with my bad back I could hardly walk the next day, and when I spoke with the staff, I learned there were no other rooms for me to move. The shower had empty soap and shampoo containers on the wall. I checked out of the hotel after my first full night, to get a more acceptable room and more comfortable bed and expected I would receive a credit for the remaining two nights that I did not stay at the Candlewood Suites, but the clerk told me she could not credit for the remaining two nights and that I would have to contact Expedia. I booked a room at another hotel down the road, also using Expedia. When I contacted Expedia to inform them of the unacceptable room and inaccurate description of what I paid for, they stated they would contact the manager to attempt to obtain a refund for the two nights that I did not stay in The Candlewood Suites. I was contacted a day later and informed I would not receive any credit for the two nights that I did not stay. I would not recommend staying in this hotel unless you expecting a subpar experience. Additionally they do not provide even a continental breakfast like most other hotels.

Everything was so amazing! From the time I walked through the front entrance to check in down to the spotless cleanliness of the place. A guaranteed customer for life! The only thing and I do mean the only thing that was missing was the morning breakfast that I saw a few of the other guests looking for. Not everyone comes packed and prepared with food like me! Lol ❤️

Very nice hotel. I will definitely be back. I never used the gym or laundry facility but it looked spacious and it’s nice to know it’s available. I also liked that doors are looked after 11pm and you have to get buzzed in through the front desk if you don’t have a key. Nice safety measures. Can’t have too many these days.

Great place to stay a week while we house hunted! Suite was clean, roomy, and well appointed. Amenities were good and hotel inside and out was kept clean and organized. The free gourmet coffee in the Market area near the lobby was excellent! Special shout out to Tracy for her friendly personality and helpfulness. Also, very good location with shopping and restaurants.

Needs a smart tv so I can watch my social media on the tv. Also, the power went out due to a tornado/ severe windstorm so I had to go somewhere else to work on my computer for several hours.

The first night the bathroom was dirty, but Rosa came and cleaned the room the next day. She did a very good job. I will stay again. I always stay at this hotel and it's very clean whoever clean the room Thursday night just didn't do a good job.

Room was very nice. had full sized fridge.
Julius
The room could have been a lot cleaner. There was hair on the sheets of both beds. Some kind of stains on toilet seat (I wiped away with my cleaning wipes). The lamps were dusty. Stains on a/c unit.
Kiara
We loved the suite aspect! It was a little trip to reconnect and enjoy the New Bern area. With the suite aspect we were able to have room to buy some small things and spread out and have room with each other without feeling cramped. The room was also clean and comfortable and quiet.
Tammy
Front desk clerk at check in was extremely rude. I spoke to the manager about her rudeness.
When a manager was with her she was friendly. When she was alone she was not.

Clearly not an owner who cares about presentation. Deck boards cut apart and glued to the wall to make shower curtains fit. Missing mirror in bathroom, but wall fasteners still in the wall.
While I was staying here, domestic violence clearly occurred in the next room over. Yelling, screaming, and walls shaking with impacts.
Staff was nice and helpful, but just know what kind of place you’re staying at.

My wife and I were both impressed with the friendly and helpful staff. When we entered our room the extremely high level of satifaction continued. The overall room and amenities appeared to have been recently renovated. Any future visits to New Bern will include staying here.

Great welcoming staff, renovated and clean setting. Close to everything and easy to get in and out of. Definitely a great place overall. The one not so positive experience for me was the fact that people in the nearby rooms were particularly loud and the walls seemed to be a bit thin. But I will definitely come back as I have stayed times before.
Tiffaney
Front desk staff was helpful. Room was clean. Will definitely book again.

The room was reasonably clean and the staff was very friendly.
However the bed was horrible. My wife and I felt like we were sleeping on an incline as the sides of the bed were much higher than the middle of the bed. A new mattress is certainly needed for this room!
