Lovely place really with old well-preserved rooms, great breakfast and dinner and an amazing whisky bar. The service was excellent too.

If you arrive during the snowy season, make sure to ask for a heater or extra blankets as the rooms on the bottom floor gets very cold.

The Craigellachie Hotel is wonderful property to spend some time in great comfort (lovely spacious rooms with full amenities), relaxation and plenty of adventures from hiking, local golf, visiting Abelour, touring fine single malt distilleries in the area, to great food and partaking in the art of scotch single malt, less known/small/reserve batch tastings that would be difficult to find outside of the Speyside region! What a scenic time of the year in October with colors ablaze, I would definitely return for a second run of memorable times! My best, Rodger Gordon

The property appears to be quite dated. The carpet in the main hallway looks noticeably worn and unclean. The television is relatively small and positioned on a low table rather than mounted on the wall, making it uncomfortable to watch from the bed. The mattress is also quite soft, which may not suit all guests.

The provided toiletries — including conditioner, shampoo, body wash, and lotion — have a pleasant fragrance. Our room faced the road, which made it noisy when the window was open; however, the room tended to feel stuffy when closed.

The reception is located on the second floor, accessible only by a narrow staircase, requiring guests to carry their own luggage upstairs — which could be challenging for those with large or heavy bags. On a positive note, there is a convenient parking area directly in front of the hotel, making it easy to unload luggage upon arrival.

Booked the Craigellachie hotel as a last minute trip for my partners birthday. The hotel is beautiful and the location very good. Food in the restaurant was excellent and the service from Oscar in the Quaich bar made our whole trip. The bathroom in our room was a little tired, but we didn’t spend a whole lot of time in the room so didn’t mind. Would definitely return.

Been at the venue before several times but only for food.

Ribeye steak i had was nice but for £38 you would expect more than 1/2 a grilled tomato and 1/4 grilled shallot as trimmings.

Breakfast nice with real fresh orange juice. Let down by the female server who spent most of the time on her phone and at times with her back to the guests bent over the counter typing on her phone, she was very polite though. i would think such a nice establishment would have a ban on servers using phones while on duty.

Room nice and comfy as described.

My partner really liked the whisky hand cream and wanted to buy a couple of bottles, as advertised in the rooms. Unfortunately they had none for sale, you would expect if its advertised for sale they would ensure have enough stock.

This hotel is very understaffed and in poor repair. The restaurant has wonderful food and looks great, but the staffing is incredibly poor. We waited quite a while for someone to check us into our room. Not sure whether they’re over-booking or under-trained or what. The chef is quite good. My friend had Covid and was confined to the room, and they simply wouldn’t put a tray together for me to take to her.

Our room was furnished with pieces that were very scratched. I appreciate antiques, but that’s not what this was. The bathroom doorknob came off in my hand. The common room is lovely, but the door was closed while we were there. There are no grounds at all. Aberlour is very close, but there is very little in Craigellachie.

My partner and I traveled around Scotland by car for 10 days. This was by far our favorite hotel that we stayed in. The hotel is quaint and had so much charm. From the moment you walk in you feel like you are at a quiet, country home. There is a very large reading room on the entry level floor which is well stocked with books and lots of seating. Check in was easy.
We ate dinner in the Spey Inn restaurant which is located onsite downstairs from the hotel. The food was wonderful. Service was nice and we didn’t feel rushed during our meal.
Outside from the hotel, there is a small path from the parking lot that leads down to a trail which flows around to an old bridge with a history marker. We passed plenty of locals who were out for their morning walks.
Our room was super cute with plenty of space and a nice sized bathroom. It was clean and comfy.
There were menu options available for breakfast which was included with our stay.
If we are every back in Scotland we will definitely stay here again and were sad that we were only in the area for 1 night.
We booked a morning tour at Glenfiddich which is just down the road from the hotel. Highly recommend.

Luxury? Frosty welcome, portering our own bags up rain soaked stairs outside, generally tatty exterior and care worn inside. Room OK, bed good, bathroom could use work. No breakfast first morning, good offering the next day. There are better places to stay in Speyside (book well in advance). Very poor value at over $660 for two night stay with one breakfast! Owner and no manager were available on site to address concerns. Stay elsewhere!

We arrived a little earlier than we expected. The lady on reception was quite 'frosty'. Told us to come back at 3pm. She didn't offer a seat in the lounge or bar. When we returned after 3 the room was still 'being finished'. This hotel is geared up for Americans and other nationalities. We were English so didn't matter.
My husband wanted the whisky experience they advertised in their whisky room . When we entered the whisky guide was giving an American couple the full treatment, explaining about the whisky
, where is was from, the flavours etc. We were totally ignored. When the Americans left, my husband tried to ask some questions but the expert was very curt and put his hat and coat on and left. The only saving grace was the bar staff downstairs. They were very helpful and polite. I probably wouldn't go again. Unless i changed nationality to American

The location and rooms were wonderful but this was badly let down by other aspects of the experience. The water pressure to our room was poor, this was reportedly affecting the whole top floor and supposedly getting fixed but was never resolved whilst we were there - at times we weren't able even to wash our hands in the sink and the shower completely stopped working in the middle of use in the morning. Our stay was made more unsatisfying when we went to check out to be asked to pay for our extra charges. This consisted of about £70 which had been charged to our room by someone at the whiskey bar, however we hadn't visited the bar during our stay. Thankfully they did not make us pay this charge but does highlight that a mistake was made either internally or accidently by someone. Although the location and room were lovely the issues left a very sour taste about our stay.

TV in room 19 doesn’t work. I raised this with the staff and was told it was probably the antenna and bad weather. I explained the issue and staff member came to the room to confirm it didn’t work. Then told me there wasn’t a spare and the maintenance guy probably wouldn’t come out. It was just after 8pm.
On check out I told another staff member that the TV didn’t work and was told it was probably the antenna and bad weather…well rehearsed. I re explained and now I’m doing a bad review out of their reluctance to acknowledge this fact and do anything about it.

Food in restaurant was OK. Nothing special but good enough.

Bed had hair from previous guests in. More than what you’d class as appropriate.

Perfect location to explore Speyside/ distilleries

We stayed for 2N in July and found the hotel, location and accommodation ideal for our purposes. Our spacious room with a view, described/labelled as Comfy, was exactly that.

Food in the hotel in the two bars/restaurants was ideal, as witnessed by the extensive number of non-residents attending over the weekend.

Staff were courteous and friendly. It was also ideally located for the whisky experiences we undertook on Speyside.

Added to that the Quaich whisky bar in the hotel was magnificent, as were the eclectic whisky recommendations from staff and knowledgeable locals.

This is our third stay, which is an indication of how much we enjoy staying at the Craigellachie Hotel. The staff are always fantastic and the hotel and it’s location are superb. The rooms are well laid out, nicely decorated and comfortable. The only slightly negative comments I would make are that the hall carpets outside of the bedrooms looked like they would have benefited from a hoover, however this is a minor gripe. I’ve also noticed that the sides to the bath/showers in all rooms are suffering from water damage to the wood panelling, as every room we have stayed in has had a leaky shower guard. Apart from these two minor issues, raised to benefit the staff more than anything, I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again!

We stayed at this hotel and were quite excited as it’s somewhere that we know has had a great reputation. we were greeted by a lovely member of reception who was exceptionally welcoming and helpful this person was not on duty when we checked in later that day. When we did check in with the different staff member, our first disappointment was finding our room was near a very loud party of guests. We asked the new receptionist if there was any chance of getting moved but we were told there were no more rooms like ours ( we had booked through a booking company). We were told we could get a big room costing an extra £80 ( £250 ) but we turned it down. The room we had was a good size, however it was shabby(cobwebs in the blinds and mould in the corner of the bathroom and ingrained in the blind) the panelling in the sink area was swollen and needing replaced. The shower seal was useless as huge puddles formed in the corner of the bathroom. The bed was reasonably comfy, a bit too soft for me, it’s a personal choice so I can’t really complain, the sheets were of good quality. There were marks and dents in the walls of the room that needed looking at. The coffee machine was a nice touch. There was not a good set up for anyone who likes to put on makeup, poor lighting and no seating with a decent mirror. We didn’t get much sleep due to the noise in the hotel. I also had to deal with being overcharged for our room ( the first receptionist sorted this out and was very good)

A lovely quiet and characterful hotel with comfortable facilities. Bedrooms were spacious and nicely furnished. Bathrooms were very clean. Hotel looking just a little tired in some areas and gave the impression of being understaffed but overall a very enjoyable stay!
