By far the worst hotel I have ever stay at, along with the most rude front desk staff. I am a totally disabled veteran with a service animal, front desk clerk demanded papers on my service animal. She demanded for her to be informed about my medical condition. Charged for a service animal. First time and last time staying at this or any other property with the same name!

We didn’t stay, booked online after trouble with our vehicle heading to see our son graduate from his Navy Bootcamp training and had to turn around and find a hotel near the dealership. Picked this one.. come inside after making the reservation to be greeted by the most unfriendly lady I have met in my entire life. Lobby smelled terrible as well. This particular hotel will not let you stay if you live within a 30 mile radius. In addition the customer service is absolutely awful.

My room was very spacious and the staff wer nice. The only thing that I thought was weird is that it had a no locals policy so if you live within a 30 mi radius you can’t check in. I think it should be in bold whenever someone is booking it, but other than that great stay!

Great place to stay for game weekend.

The hotel staff was very friendly and happy to assist with extra requests-blankets, towels, etc. Bed comfortable, room spacious, off a quiet street, away from highway noise. 15 minute drive to downtown Athens for Georgia game. No issues with traffic.

We stayed here for a football game. We had to be moved to another room immediately after checking in due to stains on the bedspread and sheets. Bugs in the room too. The hotel did this with no issue. Towels were so very thin and not good quality. At $509 a night we expected quite a bit more. Such a disappointment!

Very utilitarian facility, it has the amenities for longer stays like GYM, laundry, kitchen in rooms for factory or construction crews but really needs to be renovated and upgraded for a pleasant stay. The staff was nice and the pet-friendliness is a plus.
Biggest negatives are very loud air conditioners and refrigerators. The rooms are not thought out well so light switches and outlets are not located where convenient or needed. The furniture is worn, not broken but you are happy when leaving the room since it is not inviting or makes you feel relaxed.

Staff was very nice when checking in. Rooms were a bit dated. Toilet paper dispenser was coming out of the wall, full length mirror frame was broken at the top and taped together with duct tape. There was a visible bug/mouse glue trap behind the toilet/counter in the bathroom. The place was fine for a quick overnight stay.

The front desk staff could NOT have been nicer - all of them were pleasant and greeted us as we came in and went out. The check-in process was smooth and quick. We would have liked a chair in our apartment, but there was none in #212 those days. And the pillows were larger and bulkier than we like. But we enjoyed the rooms very much and will return for our next visit to Athens. This will definitely be our Go-To place there!

The location is behind some businesses so it is hard to find, especially in the dark. The Internet barely allowed me to check email. I had work to do and was up most of the night watching my laptop and the \"spinning wheel of death.\" The front desk manager didn't so much as apologize the next morning.

We found this property to have a terrible odor, and the rooms were not clean. Our first room smelled terribly of cigarette smoke. We changed to a second room, which had a foul smell, almost like there was a dead animal on the wall. I would not recommend, especially for the price that we paid.

The property is pretty old. My room smelled like stale cigarette smoke. It's also it a bit of a \"shady\" area. The price of this hotel shouldn't have been more than $100, it was absolutely low budget. The staff was nice and the parking lot was well lit. The room was in desperate need of a remodel. It was as clean as it could be just old and stale. If I had paid $100, I would have said ya get what ya pay for. My total bill was $195 and it was not up to par.

My wife and I frequently visit Athens to see our daughter who attends UGA. We booked this hotel through hotels.com and upon arrival were told they are not supposed to accept people who live within 50 miles of the hotel, we live 48 miles away, and that next tome we would not be allowed to stay. Well then...looks like this asinine policy just cost you 2 customers. There are too many hotels to choose from to stay at a place where our money is apparently not good. Dumb people make dumb rules.

Staff was a helpful and friendly. I spoke to Virginia during the process of booking the room. I explained to her that I was there for my mom who was dying in hospice. I told her I didn’t know how many days I’d be there. I needed information of the pet policy. Virginia was so helpful. She asked if I am an IHG member which I am so the pet fee was adjusted. I find the pet policy to be very fair and accommodating. The pet area was great. The little store/pantry was very convenient. The bed was comfortable. The little kitchen was nice. We will still at Candlewood Hotels in the future, especially because of the excellent pet policy.

Motel 6 offers more amenities. Day old coffee was it. No plastic cups for water in the room. No juice, no ice on the property at all! There was an ice maker in the freezer but you had to wait to make ice. Elevator made sounds like a wild animal park. Had to call the desk to turn on lights on the wall as the switch requires more force than we had. Bare bones.

Arrived at the hotel and the front desk clerk advised that they were cancelling my reservation. Said they weren't renting to anyone that had a home address within 70 miles of the property. Nice to know this tidbit of knowledge at check in after arriving after a long day at the office. Terrible customer service. You have been warned.

Overall an ok stay - but we expected better from Candlewood Suites. Friendly staff and clean. But......a few issues ..... Broken toilet seat, reported but not fixed. Only one washing machine out of four that worked. Smell of cigarette smoke frequently wafted into our smoke free room. Super noisy ac unit. Horribly strong chemical smell in hallways - not a normal sanitizing smell but really awful. Bathroom vanity light not working. Poor water pressure in shower.

One staff member was very nice and courteous, the other was very rude. When we arrived at the property they said the system that accessed the room with the key card was down so they had to manually open the door. The room looked fairly clean. When we left to go to dinner we heard screaming and yelling due to a domestic dispute two doors down, the police were on the scene. Once we got back from dinner and ready for bed we started itching and feeling things crawling on us. On further investigation we discovered there were bed bugs in both beds. We immediately packed our bags and left. Expedia refunded our money. The only reason we chose this property was that we were planning to bring our dogs, but thankfully at the end decided not to.

First, we did like the layout of the room and the bed was comfortable. The women at the front desk were very kind.
However, we were not aware that this was a self service hotel... exchange your own towels, no room cleaning service during our stay. It was nice to have a kitchen area but there wasnt even a frying pan to make an egg so why should we bother stocking the fridge to eat there? There weren't even forks. The bedroom door had a crack in the panel. The bathroom door did not lock because it was broken. The smoke detector was hanging down from the ceiling. I think it was poor value for the money we paid. I would not recommend this property and we will not come again.
