great experience with West Lake State Guest House

The hotel is located by the beautiful west lake, it is super clean and very quiet.

The hotel helped me to arrange a hotel taxi (super clean Audi). The taxi driver - Miss Zhang was not only drive us to the local interests, but also provide a lot of valuable information and outstanding services for us.

Will definitely stay again next year, highly recommended.

Historic hidden gem

It is truly a privilege to stay at the State Guest House, open to the public when not being used for its intended purpose. The hotel is situated in the most beautiful park adjacent to historic West Lake. Everything about the place is truly exceptional, including perhaps the most beautiful indoor pool in Asia.

Beautiful place, poor service

The hotel is located by the beautiful west lake and is quiet. However, it is not convenient to move around (one needs to call transportation for going to hotel's restaurant or going out, and this service is really slow. I had to call three times for each trip).

Beautiful environments but stayed in different building, needs golf car to transfer from one building to another, course inconvenience for people to go even to the restaurant for breakfast unless you stay in the main building. That’s why we have to pay additional to upgrade to the main building.

It is not so convenient if you have a car. There are not so many restaurants nearby. The room need remodeled as a five star hotel. The breakfast and dinner buffets are just so-so. But if you want to enjoy a quiet and joyful time nearby the west lake and you don't like the crowd, it is the best place. It is very private. The garden and lake views are very beautiful and impressive. The service is good. They brought us the ginger tea because they heard my husband coughed inside the room. That is sweet.

Beautiful campus. Yes, I used the word ‘campus’ since not all people can come in the area. The campus was guarded by police or soldiers. July weather is too hot to visit in Hangzhou. I strongly recommend to provide a facility shuttle bus to take people to some popular spots. This will provide much needed short distance transportation for the customers. We noticed that many taxi drivers in Hangzhou don’t like go to places that are too close.
Hotel is great with fabulous breakfast. It is right next to West lake with Park like settings.

So quiet and peaceful

An exclusive and unique property. Magnificent landscape features and even in the early spring so many things were in bloom and green. Peaceful and quiet at all times.
The concierge staff is most helpful and had immediate answers to all my questions.
The only inconvenience I experienced was the lack of an ice bucket in the room. The ice showed up, but the bucket did not. Perhaps request one at check-in.
It truly would be difficult to find better 5 star service than this in China

The best of the best

More of a resort than a hotel! Well equipped rooms that are impeccably clean. It was a rainy day when we arrived. Upon arrival we changed our clothes and went out to one of the several restaurants onsite. When we returned. My shoes had been cleaned and placed back into the closet. The grounds, the lake, the teahouse - it is all worth taking in. We would definitely stay here again!

Seriously, who wouldn't want to just move in and live at the West Lake State Guest House. We loved everything about this place - every little detail! The rooms, the snacks in the rooms, the bathtub, the room service, the landscaping, the view, the buffets, the golf carts, the location. Can't wait to return!

Luxurious rooms with a view

West Lake State Guest House is made up of villas in a huge garden by the West Lake. Rooms are very nice and comfortable. I slept well on the bed and pillows.

Front desk service is really horrible!!! Cleaning lady is very helpful. My room tv is hard to received channels. Plus the room is old and too warm. You can not adjust the room temperature because it's automatedly set up by the hotel!

Beautiful surroundings at this Lovely Hotel

The hotel rooms have kept some original decor but with modern bathrooms, grand lobby, awesome gardens, & restaurants. The views & entire complex bordering West Lake are magnificent! One can just walk around the lovely grounds all day. The staff are very friendly & the food is delicious. Chairman Mao, President Obama, Premier Chou-en-lai, Kissinger, & many other dignitaries have stayed there. We enjoyed our stay immensely.

Only deal with the managers! The other staff are lazy/incompetent and sometimes rude. Still waiting for my 2000rmb deposit to return back into my account (( pro tip: pay in cash for the deposit )) The hotel itself is nice, beautiful property! The breakfast was good and the bed was comfortable. It could have been so much better if the staff were better trained, imho.

Beautiful garden-like hotel grounds!

Can't say enough how beautiful, peaceful the hotel grounds is, right next to the West Lake. Hotel staff is very good at accommodating our requests (getting show tickets, arrange taxi, room upgrade). We found getting taxi in the hotel is not a problem, the hotel also provides cart that can drive you around different buildings and to the gates. Breakfast has excellent choices. All in all, our family enjoyed very much staying at the State Guest house as well as seeing Hangzhou!

Villas set in beautiful serene gardens on West Lake. Absolutely gorgeous and I would highly recommend it. The West Lake area is very crowded. The hotel and gardens
give you the same experience but without the crowds. Wonderful! Mao visited here many times and a G7 summit was held here with world leaders.

这里的一切都很完美。员工非常友好，甚至帮我们的房间升级到1号楼。在酒店里就能看到西湖，一号楼也看得到。1号楼甚至提供了免费的下午茶和游船，虽然游船我们因为不知道而没去。非常感谢这里的所有员工，特别是电瓶车的师傅以及一号楼和七号楼的员工，服务完美。下次再来。
Everything is perfect. The staff is friendly and update our room to Building No.1. You can see the west lake in the hotel and even in Building No.1. And they even give us free afternoon tea.Thank you for every staff here to give us a nice vacation especially the shuttle bus drivers and staff in No.1&7. Hope to see you soon again.

本次住宿8號樓，因家庭旅遊訂兩間房，入住時前枱貼心安排連通房，房間很棒，整體服務也很好。最喜歡的是飯店本身自帶的庭園及西湖景觀，不用人擠人就可以悠閒的享受美景，真是太棒了！下次來還是會選擇這裡。

Good old state hospitality at the serene West Lake. Very pretty garden and the Chinese restaurant is hard to fault. The room is starting to show its age but it’s still kept reasonably clean. Overall a very pleasant experience and will visit again.
