The property is nice, the onsen is a terrific feature and the staff were excellent and helpful with our many questions for inbound/outbound travel. However, for upwards of $400 per night, the dining options were rather basic and, given the hotel's somewhat remote location, the sporadic shuttle schedule and drop-off locations made the ski resorts somewhat of a challenge to reach.

Clean rooms, friendly staff and overall amazing property!

The amenities were wonderful! There are both private and shared onsens you can take advantage of, complimentary happy hour drinks and snacks, massage chairs, and a complimentary shuttle that you can reserve spots on to take you through the town and slopes!

The breakfast was wonderful. Something for everyone. Also the daily outdoor winter lunch was very good too. One night we had the Chef’s dinner and it really was excellent. No point arriving before your room is ready because there is literally nothing to do, even though the room may be ready, you can’t have it till 3pm.

This property was beautiful and very clean. Staff are super friendly and accomodating. It is a bit out the way from main areas of Hakuba. However, the hotel does have a shuttle bus, only on a limited schedule though.

The resort was first class. We loved the Onsen which they had both private and public. They had no restrictions on Tattoos. The breakfast was great and we saved a lot of money on dinners since they had free wine, soups, miso, udon, etc every afternoon.

The property is very expensive for the area. The service was lovely except for the last day when we needed to leave the hotel and get to the bus station to leave Hakuba. The front desk staff was unable to find a taxi to pick us up and the hotel shuttle could not be sent to the bus station for an 8 am instead of 9 am run. We were not able to make the departure bus that we hoped to get on. We eventually took the hotel's shuttle van 30 minutes after our hoped for departure and caught a bus out of town and

Aside from the lack of transportation coordination and the fact that the hotel charged me an additional $500 at checkout for my kids lodging and food (which I thought I had paid through the high Expedia price of $1,600 for 2 nights) there was much that was good about the hotel.

We loved our beautiful dinners and breakfast buffets, the room was spacious and comfortable, the complimentary wine at happy hour in the lounge was lovely.

But in the end, the very high price per night for the 4 of us paired with the stress on our departure day (which we began talking with the hotel staff about the afternoon prior) made for a less than perfect experience.

I booked this property for the sole purpose of snow sports in Hakuba.

However, I feel this property is not designed and build for winter season.

To access the rooms from the main building (lobby, restaurants etc), one has to walk through an unheated walkway, expose to the cold and wind. Imagine doing this at -6 degrees temperature.

The snow equipment storage is an after-thought. It is a container situated outside on the driveway. It is not a dry room and to access the snow equipment, one has to be expose to the elements again. (this time, there are no shelters to protect the guest).

My partner and I were absolutely blown away when we arrived at this property in the middle of a snow season. I can’t even describe it beauty.
Everything was conveniently, with a light lunch/dinner provided at no charge. It was so nice to come home from a day at the slopes and eat amazing warm food! They also provide afternoon tea with wine, where you can overlook a gorgeous view. Complimentary private onsens was another highlight. The rooms were spacious, very clean and had heated floors. Transport to town and ski resorts was so easy, as was hitting ski gear. We will definitely be back!

Fantastic property, quaint feeling, great amenities. The room is a bit dated and pillows and bed is rock solid hard. But the hotel has many other qualities that make up. The view of the natural surroundings is amazing. The Onsen private and non private was great. Staff tried really hard to make the best stay possible. Was nice to have a tea lounge to sit in daily, unlimited natural water and apple juice and some hot wine. They have a light snack canteen, that free until 8pm, at this point what’s the need for a convenience store everything is at your fingertips here. I had a great stay and can’t wait to come back again.

Really loved the incredibly welcoming and hospitable staff at the hotel who went out of their way to make us feel at home and make the stay as enjoyable as possible. Although the rooms are basic, the rest of the hotel has every modern comfort. The big downside is the location - the hotel is miles from the town so you're reliant upon taxis ($40 each way to dinner) and infrequent shuttle buses to the snow fields and town. This really made it very limiting so we mostly dined at the hotel restaurant as it was much easier than trying to wait for infrequent scheduled shuttles. The French fixed menu was excellent every time - with impeccable service. However, surprisingly both the service and quality of the Western a-la-carte menu (at the same restaurant) was much much lower and quite disappointing. Overall I enjoyed the hotel but would likely pick another next time simply due to the inconvenience of the location. If the frequency of the shuttle buses were doubled, that might encourage me to return. Either way, I'd like to pass on my sincere thanks to the staff for being so friendly and making the stay very enjoyable.

Great place to relax. My limited Japanese was not an issue with the English speaking staff. Went without a car but the free shuttle was awesome, was still able to get to town and back with no issues. The private onsens were amazing, and relaxing. The food was amazing! Lastly, the staff was the topping to the cake as I felt they were extremely accommodating and helpful, they made sure it was a stress free getaway.

This place is extremely relaxing. The surrounding is sublime and the onsen is one of the best I’ve seen. They pay kind attention to extras like free wine in the relaxing area and access to free small food items throughout the day for hungry guests.

But it’s expensive. And for the expense I don’t think the room matches. It’s outdated and smells funky. Also the breakfast is okay, but does not vary by a single item on any day.

Would I stay here again? Yes... as I was relaxed upon fully leaving. Would I give it 5?stars? Not unless they upgraded the rooms and breakfast

Enjoyable stay with good service and amenities. We stayed for the snow season and the shuttle bus to and from the nearby train station on arrival and departure was welcome. The on-site ski gear hire was fantastic and handy. The room was modest, and adequate however, the curtains were thin and left sunlight filtering through early in the morning.

Excellent touches: lobby reception wine and simple Japanese afternoon snacks of curry, oden, and miso soup to be enjoyed on the outside patio after a full day of skiiing, lovely picturesque views from main areas of the lobby, fantastic and spacious indoor and outdoor onsen with chilled coffee chocolate milk available after the onsen, convenient storage house for skis and excellent punctual shuttle service. The breakfast selection was good and the private label Sierra jam of two flavors was incredible. Great access to a washer and dryer. The In House Japanese restaurant was delicious. Housekeeping did an excellent job. The only improvement I would mention is that our junior suite furnishings could use a refreshing. Otherwise the hotel is charming and had easy access to all the onsite amenities. The location is not within walking distance to any minimarts but there were enough offerings at the hotel.

Highly recommended! The resort was absolutely beautiful. It was really large with many segregated areas for tea/coffee, fireplaces, onsens, games rooms and the large garden area outside. The staff were so nice and helpful, they even went out of their way to drop us to a few places that weren’t on their included shuttle locations. After 4 nights, we didn’t want to leave!

The front desk workers at the resort tried very hard to accommodate requests to make dining reservations as well as answer the many questions we had. There were so many things that were provided by the resort- a delicious Japanese buffet breakfast, hot soup and food for much of the day, wine & sake in the evening, and ochazuke & cup of noodles at night. Everyone there was pleasant and helpful.

From the friendly pickup at Hakuba Station to the shuttle back at the end of our stay, Sierra staff were warm and helpful. The Resort does all the little things you didn’t think of to make your stay perfect. Enormous windows in every direction take advantage of the beautiful views, large, comfortable warm rooms feel like home, classy onsen, complimentary wine in the lounge, hot meals on return from the slopes - they think of it all. If only the clientele treated the hotel with the same respect. Evenings in the hotel were like feeding time at the zoo, with out of control families treating the place like a playground, leaving a trail of destruction in their wake. Reliable transfers to the ski resorts, although it’s about an hour to Goryu / Hakuba47; big discounts on lift tickets bought at the hotel; gear rental on site, with well planned gear storage. Would love to come back!

The resort was beautiful - kind and helpful staff, large room, great view (we were in the west wing on the ground floor looking out onto the forrest), free wifi, 4 beautiful onsens you can book free for 45 mins, complimentary wine in the afternoons... we didn't want for anything!
They have a free shuttle bus that leaves the hotel in the evenings and drops you literally to the door of your dinner restaurant.
There is a bus that goes around Hakuba and drops you at the ski resorts for ¥500 (not run by the hotel), this was late a few times during our stay (bizarre for Japan!) but was otherwise very convenient. The hotel also gave us a complimentary lift to and from Tsugaike one day, which was very helpful; Tsugaike is a great place for beginner/intermediate skiers/snowboarders and is only 10 minutes away!

Lovely place, even nicer staff

The staff couldn't have been nicer; nothing was too much trouble, be it organising restaurant bookings or pickups by shuttle. The free food and drink was great, the private onsens very relaxing and the pool table a real bonus. Ski hire onsite, door to door drop offs for skiing and generally a really nice chilled place. Hakuba doesn't have the biggest ski fields in the world, but you won't mind spending more time at Sierra if you do run out of piste to ski.

Great place for family getaway in Japanese Alps

Sierra Resort was a great place to stay for a family getaway. The resort is secluded in the woods with great views of the surrounding mountains. Though its a bit removed, its easy to get into town or to one of the many close by ski resorts with their free shuttle or the local bus service (500 yen/day with kids free). The free on-site onsen is a huge plus and provides a great place to relax after a day on the slopes. The staff was friendly, extremely helpful, and spoke English well. Little extras like the free breakfast buffet, free apres-ski snacks and drinks, and toys/sleds for kids to play in the snow were a bonus.

We stayed 3 nights and skied for 4 days. A little far from the main village and ski lifts, but a redeeming factor is the ski, night and free shuttle buses stop right outside the hotel. The hotel made us feel so at home that we stayed on premise most nights after skiing during the day. The staff is international, attentive, helpful and knowledgable. The public onsen is 5 star, uncrowded; we did not feel the need to book their beautiful private onsens. The grounds are well kempt and tastefully designed. Wouid definitely plan our next trip at this hotel again.

Fantastic stay with my wife in Hakuba Valley with all our expectations exceeded. Great value for the price and fantastic food at the on-site restaurants. Ski rentals and lockers right outside the lobby made it very easy. Staff spoke English and was very professional. Hotel shuttle was helpful to get into town. Hot Springs on site were very clean, well managed, and had great outdoor views of the Japanese Alps after a long day skiing. The hotel was full but yet the lobby and restaurants were never crowded. Cannot wait to return to this property with the kids.

A very relaxing & pleasant stay in Hakuba.

The hotel offers free pick-up & drop-off service to/from Hakuba Train Station. We were warmly welcomed by the friendly staff and some very tasteful light meal which is free of charge. The hotel is located in a quite hill away from the town center. Very big room compared to typical room size in Japan. Another highlight is the \"onsen\" service and coffee/tea service which is all free of charge. Plus free wi-fi and breakfast makes it highly cost effective. This resort is a perfect base for skiing: Equipment rental store & a locker room just in front of the lobby. Also paid shuttle bus to/from skiing sites. You could just stay in the hotel, do nothing at all and enjoy its free service apart from the skiing activity. Overall a very relaxing & pleasant stay in Hakuba.

The satff where over welming wonderfull and helpfull all ways taking
the time to be there to help gide us along our stay.
The resort it self had many wonder full seating areas where you could sit and lose your slef in the vue and enjoy all the little things that the resort provides for you to enjoy.
The only thing that let this resort down was the womens onisen.
There where molde patches the size of me 'five foot tow'growing on the beems up above
you while you where bathing in the bath.
The bath also had a silme of some sort growning on the tiles beneth the water.

Just as good third time round!

If you love nature and the quietness of the forest this is a perfect resort. The service is very friendly and unpretentious which makes us feel very at home. The lounge is very cosy yet with large space. There is complementary beverages & wine throughout the evening and warm snacks throughout the day which is a very heart-warming gesture after a long cold day on the slope.

中華のスタンダードとフレンチのプレミアムをいただきました。
中華は繊細な盛り付けで見た目も美しく味もとても美味しかったです。
ラウンジでワインを頂けるのも嬉しいです。
空き時間にビリヤードを楽しみました。
お部屋や廊下にカメムシが迷い込んでいたこともありましたが凍結スプレーで撃退しました笑
周りの景色が美しく、喧騒から離れてゆったり過ごすことができました。ありがとうございました。

Very Nice resort with 3 (different) private Onsen hotspring baths and 1 public. Breakfast and dinner were all ok, the rooms are spacious, but too few closets. There was a lounge with free drinks, coffee, tea and snacks and an entertainment room with darts and pool table.
The entertainment room, where many guests want to spend some relaxing time after a long day skiing was however closed from 17-22 when people want to enjoy it. We had dinner once at the resort and it was really good,

施設は全体的に綺麗でした。

軽食等が無料で食べることもできましたが、冷やしトマトやキュウリを食べていた私の前の塩を何も言わずにもって行ってしまいました。
また、その従業員の方はその場で片付けていた未使用のお椀を床に落としましたが、そのまま元の場所に戻していました。最後に全てのお椀を洗ってまた提供するならいいですが、目の前で見せられると、他もそうなんではないかなと思ってしまいました。

ご近所ひとり旅で伺いました。
エントランスに入った際にカナディアンログの懐かしい香りがしました。
お部屋は古いながらも趣がありゆったり過ごせました。
温泉も貸切、古民家の湯ともにとても癒されました。
さまざまな軽食のサービスも楽しかったです。
スタッフの皆さまが笑顔で親切でした。素敵なお庭の手入れをされているスタッフさんは職人気質を感じました。夕食も味も量も自分の好みで、ベテランの男性のスタッフの方の説明もわかりやすく思いやりを感じました。
次回は白馬飯店にも伺いたいです。

おもてなし抜群でした！
同じ値段で翌日伊香保温泉に移動した某旅館では、貸切風呂別料金¥3,300、同じ様に部屋に氷届けてもらって¥550、アイスキャンディー¥350。
不思議な2泊のひとり旅でした。
今度は大勢でシェラリゾート白馬さんにお邪魔します。
