My recent stay at The Pivot Hotel was an exceptional experience from arrival to departure. We have always loved the vibrant energy of the Montecasino complex. Located in the heart of Fourways, it serves as a serene Mediterranean-inspired escape from the Johannesburg bustle.
The Venetian-style architecture and the tranquil lake views create a unique \"resort\" feel. It’s a relief to step out of the high-energy casino environment and into the calm, sophisticated lobby of The Pivot.As always my room was spacious and spotless. The bedding was high-quality, and I particularly appreciated the welcome gift that had been left in the room for us. The staff were attentive from check-in to departure.
Being just a short walk across the bridge to Montecasino is a huge plus. It provides easy access to world-class dining, theaters, and entertainment without the noise of the casino floor reaching your room.
Breakfast at Punchinello’s was a standout. The variety of the buffet was impressive, and the terrace seating is the best way to start a morning in South Africa. We unfortunately only had the one night and had to move to our next destination. For those looking for a great hotel , the Pivot offers a level of quiet luxury that is hard to beat in the area. I would definitely return.

I had an absolutely lovely stay. The room was quite nice, but in particular I have to mention the staff who were exceptionally friendly, polite, and helpful. Possibly the best I have ever experienced. The breakfast buffet is equal to the best in Europe, and the egg chef is a fun guy and a master with eggs.

Breakfast was a sensational and Gastronomic Experience. What a beautiful spread of both the continental and English Fry Up! The French Toast and Danishes were particularly lovely ❤️

Well for R6000 a night that is definitly not what a suite looks like, secondly the room looks and smells old.
The tv is from 1992 can barely do anything none of the channels work properly.

I use the Pivot all the time when I visit Jhb. The service is aleays good. The rooms needs upgrading as it really still the old style hotel rooms. The TVs are not smart so this makes it even more old school....

The hotel is located within the Montecasino complex, and therefore is safe to walk around within the complex. There is also a small shopping centre with a supermarket nearby within walking distance. Any further than that would with private hire, which is readily available.
The hotel has good spacious rooms which are cleaned daily also with fresh bottled water. The breakfast buffet is good with reasonable choice of hot and cold items as well as mad to order egg and omelettes.

The guests received the wrong room type on check-in... where they were placed on the 2nd floor that's all smoking rooms, while a non-smoking room was booked & requested?!
Personally, I can't imagine that while in SA one is not allowed to smoke inside buildings any longer, that it is still even allowed to smoke inside hotel rooms as being seen as public places - awful!

This hotel is lovely, staff are helpful and the rooms are nice. It has Charlotte Rhys toiletries which I love. The rooms are large and clean. My room had a balcony over the front of the building. We had dinner at the nearby casino restaurants which we were dropped off at by the complementary golf buggy transport, welcome because it was raining. Nice area too.

We stayed for the night in order to enjoy the facilities and close proximity to Montecasino so we could enjoy the outdoor seating area. The hotel is is still as good as it was. However they still have a limited dinner menu and the breakfast buffet was quite poor in comparison to how breakfast buffet was prior to COVID. Hopefully they can turn it around and I’ll only visit once again once they sort out the breakfast buffet and introduce the extended dinner menu. Tsogo Sun’s competitors have returned to normalcy but they have not.

Liked the service and location for Montecasino (a safe, 2 minute walk), staff were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble, good free parking availability. the bar was a little small and lacking in variety for example there were no craft beers. The bar staff were very helpful however and with Montecasino 'next door' we had plenty of alternatives. The swimming pool was rather a strange layout and room furnishing a little 'dated'. None the less a comfortable stay and we would visit again.

I checked in late on the date of arrival, I was put in a disabled person's room, thee was no bath, mirror by the sink, the show was broken, the lamps did not work. A nightmare you would think, however, I went to the front desk and they changed me to another room , which was perfect. They were very apologetic, but this shows excellent service.

Very Disappointing Experience
I was extremely dissatisfied with my stay at this hotel. The service I recieved was consistently poor from hotel staff. (Staff were rude and impatient with few exceptions.) There were other frustrations that added to a less-than-stellar experience, however: the TV in my room did not work properly (half of the channels didn’t work at all and those that did work were heavy with static and hard to watch); the hotel’s ‘complimentary wifi’ only lasted for about 10 minutes before I was denied access for reaching my daily limit; and there was hair in my food from the breakfast buffet. I stayed at many cheaper hotels during my trip to South Africa, and each of those cheaper hotels provided much better experiences than the Southern Sun Montecasino. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
