It is cheap, but not worth it.

You get what you pay for. I tried a few motels on our trip to see the leaves and this place was awful. And for just under $100 it was not worth it. I think $30 would be a good price. It was super dirty with hair clumps on the sheets, huge spiders and webs in the corners and it just wasn't cleaned. There is a larger town across the river which we should have stayed at, but this place took the cake for the worst place I have stayed in. Just pass it up. The check in was simple, grab your key from the dark tiny office and return it in the box the next day.

Review of Northeaster Motel, Kittery, ME

I recently stayed at the Northeaster Motel and unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience. Upon checking in, I was shocked by the extremely small size of the room. The door nearly hit the bed when I opened it, which was quite unsettling.

The issues continued when we returned from dinner. I went to the lobby to get some ice, only to find out that they do not have an ice machine—something that seems quite basic for a motel.

The bed was another major problem. It was incredibly hard and uncomfortable, making it difficult to get a good night’s sleep.

The following morning, I mentioned these concerns to the manager when returning the room key. Instead of addressing the issues professionally, the manager responded in an extremely rude manner, telling me to “go and never come back.” This kind of customer service was completely unacceptable and only added to our frustration.

It was interesting to say the least. Retro 1970’s including the check in process and the key! I expected a hotel room and ended up with a cabin.
It was small but clean and the bed was comfortable. Nice owners and a unique stay. I’d stay there again.

It was okay here. The staff were nice but this was not the nicest place I've stayed in this price range. The mattress was REALLY uncomfortable and I didn't get the room I thought I was getting. I signed up for a standard queen but the bed was only full size and the quilt had stains on it so I took it off and threw it in the closet. Luckily, the sheets were clean and there was an extra blanket. I also thought I was getting a shower/tub combination but it was only a stand up shower. It was fine for 2 nights but I was very happy to get home to my clean house and comfortable mattress.

Could have used more lighting. Over by the table and fridge was very dark. Also could have used a clock either hanging or on a side table. Curtains on the two doors could have been thicker for better privacy. Room was very clean, the gentleman I delt with was very friendly. Rates were affordable.

Don’t bother spending your money here. Take it to the place next door or even on the street, I hate to say anything about racism, but the owner here is definitely just that. Her husband Rafie is awesome! Which makes sense he’s the face of the place, but the Nosheen is mean mean mean,
It’s started with us renting the cabin and paying daily, we paid for 2 nights and the day we were due to check out, we decided to stay again well before check out no sheen came to tell us the cabin was reserved to move across to the rooms, so we obliged, the room the dirty couldn’t se root the windows, the sheets looked like they hadn’t been washed at all just reused, it was out dated, for sure, no phone to the “office” no blow dryer, which wasn’t a deal breaker, so much dust on the head board windowsill, etc, what made it worse was the live in house keepers were directly next to us in #1 and they had a sound bar which was always on full blast, complained about it four times even asked to move in which the wife said no I will say something, she never did cause it proceeded, and guess what no one stayed in the cabin the day we left and for the week ahead. It stayed empty! we went from paying $80 a night online, to the wife now charging me 128 a night NOT WORTH IT ONE BIT but we were already 1 week in, I decided to start paying online and the wife told me I was not allowed to do that to bring cash to her. This was after I went and reserved the cabin online, she said we couldn’t move rooms! RUNFAST

The furnishings in the room appeared to be thrift-store items, and not in the good way. Fabric was stained, worn, torn, and dirty. The bureau and endtable were old and banged up.
When I first made the reservation, I got an email that there was an issue with my card. When I called to straighten it out, in late afternoon, the woman asked me if she could call me back the next morning. That was curious to me, but I said yes. She said she'd call at 10:00. She never did. At 10:30 I called, and she said she was just about to call me. But then just before hanging up she said she apologized for not remembering to call me. So she really wasn't just about to call me after all.
When I was directed to my cottage, there was an old beat-up crap-box car parked directly in front of the front window. That seemed weird. I put my stuff in the cottage and went to get a bite to eat. When I came back, the car was still there. I asked at the office if there was a reason it needed to be there. The guy apologized, said it was his dad's car(!) and moved it.
This business appears to be family owned and run, with very little if any understanding of basic customer service principles. I will never stay there again.

Overall, we liked our accommodations, but were very disappointed with the hardness of the mattress and the \"crater\" on one side of the mattress. Also, the shower had very low pressure, but water was good and hot. We also didn't appreciate the neighbors talking loudly around 1 or 2 in the morning, but that isn't your fault. Could hear them right through the wall.

I would never return or recommend the Northeaster to anyone. The bed was so bad I had to buy a heating pad for my back! Water pressure was so low I had to have my wife rinse me off. I asked if I could get a reduction in my cost his answer was to turn around and close the door on me ! Only 1 dim light
In the room. I’m very disappointed, $50.00 a night would seem appropriate!!!

We rented a room and ended up in a beautiful little cabin it was clean and comfortable~ except under the kitchen cabinets where they were obviously proactively trying to remove mice. This was probably not the same issue in the hotel rooms ~ as I know mice can be a struggle in cabins. I would rent this same cabin again though and not go into the lower cabinets, the rest of the room was very clean.

Good Choice for Location and Price

Good budget room and excellent location. The fridge had a functioning freezer that came in handy. The bathroom was in very good condition as were the towels. The bed had two fluffy pillows and one thin one, the kind I like.
Sue’s Seafood is an easy ten minute walk has has fabulous lobster or crab rolls!

The location is convenient to eateries, fueling and Kittery Outlet Mall-all within short driving distance. Northeaster's owners are gracious and welcoming, Housekeeping staff did a great job in keeping everything clean and neat.
The only drawback is poor Internet connection. This is essential for folks like me, though others may prefer the sense of isolation.

Property was nice overall. Staff was a bit odd, guy yelled at me because he swiped my card twice and I didn’t want him to do it a third time. Finally the owner lady came out and told him to F off. The room was quiet but was very dirty with stained sheets and only half roll of TP. I give it a 3 star rating but I wouldn’t return simply because I prefer a bit cleaner room and staff that doesn’t question my payment methods.

I checked in and was told at the desk that I did not get the room that I reserved. Then was asked if I still wanted it with an attitude. However we still charged the same price. I brought my godson to York beach for the very first time and this is how we Kicked off our yearly godmother godson get away. Room was dirty, no garbage bags, had to wait hrs for towels even though i needed no maid service. I was left folgers instant coffee with old filters and an auto drio machine. They lady in charge was NO help at all, that goodness for the older gentleman. He tried and was 1000% honest with me. This is THEIR actual home and made us feel like we were inconveniencing them. Would NOT recommend!!

Owners were pleasant. However, a guy that works there, assumed he can look in windows, while walking by,( several times).
Very uncomfortable feeling. The carpets were dirty, grungy feeling, but he shower stall was very dirty. Room hasn’t been dusted in a while. Lock on door was broken. Door didn’t close right. Bottle of old cigarettes outside my door. If they hired a good housekeeper, the place would be nice

I'm pretty sure the bed in our room is a violation of the Geneva Convention. Fester Addams might have found it very comfortable, but we prefer something that doesn't feel like granite with steel spikes rammed through it. My child couldn't fall asleep until after 4:30 am because it hurt so much to lie on this torture device. I might have gotten an hour or so of sleep in the minute or two here and there between fitful rolling from side to back to other side, trying to spread the torture out to different body parts to increase tolerance. Before that, I had the pleasure of showering in a tiny shower stall with bands of mold where the 3 panels of the shower walls kinda-sorta met. Nice big gaps so the mold can really go crazy. In addition to the mold and the grime that was all over the walls in the bathroom, the water pressure suggests a garden gnome was pouring it from a little watering can. Then I got to try to dry off with 2 tiny bath towels. They're the perfect size for a 5-year-old.

The internet signal was not strong, but not impossibly weak. The room lacked outlets. Literally 2 available plugs, 1 by the bed and 1 in bathroom. General cleanliness was lacking. I was surprised to find some toiletries in the room. This is all as I expected for a room in this price range. The torture bed, the mold, and the filthy bathroom walls were not expected nor appreciated.

0/5 stars. They were completely unprofessional and disorganized in the front office. There are barely any accommodations in the room. My TV didn’t even work! The phone number I had either didn't work or no one answered it. Luckily I was only there for a night otherwise I would have left early. I understand you “get what you pay for”, but even with the low price I feel I got robbed. I do not recommend this place to anyone and will obviously never be returning.

This is really good for sleeping for a few hours but that’s it. It also should not be more than $50 a night but it is. Had 3 dirty towels on the floor by the front door, door barely locked, and there we’re leaves in the room from outdoors. Also no hot water.

It was pretty straightforward check in process, I paid the room, he gave me the key. Asked me if I have a car, I said no. No other further discussion.
The refrigerator’s freezer portion needs defrosting and cleaning.
No heating portion for the A/C because it was chilly, but the blanket was good enough.

The motel is in such a wooded area that there were bugs coming into our room. I felt bugs twice on my face as I was sleeping and woke up to find one of them was a dead spider!!

The owner must not be paying the cleaning staff enough that guests are asked to tip them. The last time I had to do that was in developing countries in Asia!!

There were no Kleenexes or hair blow dryer in the room

I will never return or recommend to anyone

This motel was just what we were looking for- friendly, quiet, affordable, and plenty trees & grass around the property. It is far enough away from all the busyness but also close enough to Portsmouth, restaurants, and the beaches that makes it so convenient. We will definitely be booking here again and making this one of our vacation spots every summer.

We did not end up using our reservation because the bed sizes were changed between the time we made a reservation and the time we checked in. I was told it was a plumbing issue. But new room was not acceptable for our needs. We stayed at a chain hotel nearby for the same price. The woman at the front desk was very nice and apologetic, but it would have been nice to be given an email or sms in advance.

Cottage was very clean and updated. Staff is friendly. Kitchenette had mini fridge, microwave, sink and 2 burner cooktop, but no cookware or utensils (plates only). Amenities were lacking (no hairdryer or coffee), but it was a decent place to stay for a night.

Almost impossible to get a hold of property owners. Got there and found out they lied about the pool. He claimed it was Expedia's fault for not removing the pool from the amenities but its clearly advertised on the motel's website as well. The man was rude and quite paranoid. Wife is extremely kind though and spent one of the mornings we were checked in visiting the patrons and offering assistance.

We checked out immediately after checking in. It was in poor condition and clearly not as it was depicted online. It was basically a shack with a tiny bathroom, a loud portable window A/C unit and furniture that was dirty and worn. Rusted mirror and light fixtures! Totally unacceptable!

Stayed in a small cabin that has a stovetop,sink, refrigerator and microwave. However no pans or cooking utensils. Tiny bathroom with shower. Plenty of hot water. Comfortable beds.

Cabin is dated but in very good condition, very clean and priced right. Perfect for me traveling for my business.

The owner was very nice. We only stayed one night so it was fine for a no frills small room for the night. Our only main concern was the lack of security for the room. The door only had a basic door knob lock, no deadbolt. It would be very easy for someone to break in, so that made us very uneasy.

Northeaster Motel Review 2022

I booked my stay based on price without reading reviews beforehand as my husband is in the hospital and I'm on a tight budget. Upon reading the reviews I was concerned to say the least. I got to the motel early and was able to check in right away. The staff was friendly and when I got into my room I was beyond relieved. The room was good size, clean, private porch, and had a mini fridge/microwave which was a bonus i had not expected. I will say there is some staff i was unimpressed with, but other than a few speed bumps everything was great!
