fabulous venue at the heart of Eisenach

On entering, I gasped in amazement at the beautiful historic foyer of this lovely hotel, right in the centre of town. A warm welcome at Reception and a lovely room, fulfilling all requirements. Even a choice of bath or shower. A bath was a great treat after a day of much walking and carrying a heavy bag! Lovely unhurried breakfast too. Thoroughly recommend this hotel.

Would highly recommend this hotel. Location is great! Breakfast was great! Front desk service was very helpful. Hotel in good condition and very comfortable. The only complaint was that the towels were so thin you needed 2 to dry from a shower. Goodness, I have used thicker towels in Ethiopia! Oh, one more thing. The WIFI is not secure! This should be updated!

I'm a little late with the review, but we loved this hotel. Beautiful staircase, nice rooms, and the location was perfect. We were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go except Wartburg Castle, but the bus stop for the castle tour is almost right in front of the hotel. The staff were courteous and helpful and spoke English. We would absolutely stay here again.

Nice hotel but one incident while there could have been better handled. I was in the lift on the ground floor with another guest and when I pressed to go up, the lift went down, gathering a little speed and then hit the floor around a foot below the exit at basement level. We pressed the emergency button and a women's voice took note of what had happened, but she did not advise us what she would be doing. We waited, admittedly only around 5 minutes, and then the lady member of staff (I presume it was the one to whom we had spoken) managed to open the lift doors and we were able to climb out - we were around one foot below the exit. She didn't apologise or ask how we were and simply disappeared into an office door leaving us both just standing by the lift in the basement corridor. The other guest thought she perhaps intended to come back but after about 5 minutes we located the staircase and walked up the stairs. When checking out a day or so later, rather surprisingly, when asked by the (different) lady on the desk if I had enjoyed my stay, when I recounted what had happened, adding that there had been no words of concern to what had been a mildly worrying experience, nor any word of apology, she made no eye contact and said nothing!

I had thought the hotel might have been a little old and tired, but No: The rooms have recently been refurbished and were in excellent condition, very fine, and comfortable.
The elevators functioned well and came fairly promptly.
Hotel entrance welcoming and pleasant.
The staff were helpful and looked after our luggage until our rooms were ready.
We had drinks out front one evening and then withdrew inside as it got colder, and all was managed smoothly. There was a British tour group having meals and they seemed very much at home.

Great hotel for the 500th Reformation celebration

This hotel is very well appointed, The rooms are clean and the bathrooms are exceptional. The staff was incredibly helpful and allowed us to use the hotel facilities after hours since we had had a very long day. The sauna on the top floor with the rooftop patio was amazing. The breakfast buffet was over the top and the chef created some perfect omelettes for our team of 10. Highly recommend this place!

A short walk to shopping and restaurants, including a great bakery just across the square, and the staff were super helpful in making suggestions of where to go. The room was very nice --- the interior of the hotel has clearly been updated quite recently. We had just flown in from North America, so we arrived super tired. Fortunately, we were able to check in early and have a mid-day nap --- a life-saver!

The lobby is impressive with old word charm however the upper floors and rooms are in the process of being renovated with a modern look and furniture. An odd match.
The beds are very comfortable. There are no irons in the room and the fridge is filled with mini bar items with not much room for personal items. The bathroom is roomy, however they lack personal soaps, shampoos, etc. We only had a small bottle of hand cream.
The restaurant serves a very good buffet. the staff all spoke English.

I arrived early in the morning, before check-in time, but the reception staff was perfectly accommodating about leaving my suitcase with them as I proceeded to go about sightseeing (the purpose of my visit). Check-in went smoothly later in the day. The room was clean, comfortable, modern in appearance. Everything functioned properly. The bathroom was well designed. The hotel lobby and hallways were attractive and clean. For my purposes the hotel was in the perfect location: near the train station (as I was traveling by train throughout Germany), right by the bus stop for the bus going to the castle, and a pleasant walk to the rest of the city and main sights. Check-out also went smoothly.

Top hotel in a fascinating German town

In Eisenach, you visit the \"Wartburg,\" a vast medieval castle compound in an imposing hilltop location. Not much authentic medieval decoration has survived; the 19th century took over the place and made it into a monument associated with German unity. This is impressive. But the room in which Martin Luther translated the New Testament has been preserved, and the museum has many interesting artifacts. The Steigenberger is a ten-minute walk from the rail station, so it's easy to get to and away from if one wants to visit such interesting nearby towns as Gotha and Weimar.

This is a great hotel in centre of Eisenach. Staff are very friendly and helpful, excellent restaurant and great breakfast. Rooms are very clean and comfortable. Great location for the town sights (Bachhaus, St Georges Church etc.). Bus stop acrosd the road for short bus ride the the Wartburg Castle. Great value. We have stayed here in 2014 and 2015 ans will be returning.

Pleasant hotel (when it is not too hot)

I stayed 5 days on holiday in April. The hotel looks imposing and is in a good, quiet location in a charming square. I had a standard twin room on the first floor overlooking a sort of internal 1st floor roof terrace. It was very quiet, which was just as well as I had to sleep with the windows open nearly every night because the room was very hot and did not have air conditioning. I did not sleep very well, which was exacerbated by the fact that the curtain track was not quite wide enough to stop the light coming in, so I was woken by the sunlight at about 6 am every morning. It was a large and otherwise pleasant room, and the bathroon had a bath as well as a shower. The staff were pleasant and all spoke excellent English. As I did not bring my laptop with me, I was disapointed that there was no computer terminal with internet access for guest use. I had always found such terminals provided in hotels of this class in Germany, so I had not bothered to check in advance whether there would be one. Overall, I recommend this hotel for its good, quiet, convenient location, and general pleasantness, but I would not like to stay here in the summer and would not recommend it during very hot weather.

Good location. Mixed feelings about hotel.

Room reasonably comfortable, with nice view of a picturesque town, but a constant problem in Europe is the lack of tea and coffee facilities in the room. Bus stop just outside that takes you to Wartburg Castle. Restaurants and cafes just around the corner. Walking distance to Bachhaus, main plaza, etc.

Lovely hotel, but....

The hotel itself is lovely, and the staff very polite and efficient. However, on the two nights I stayed, there was very loud music coming from nearby buildings, which went on until the early hours. Also, the mattress was very comfortable, but the bed frame creaked every time I moved, so although I liked the hotel, I had two very poor nights sleep. I was probably just unlucky, and would still recommend it as a place to stay in Eisenach.

The hotel is close to the Eisenach train station and a fair hike from Wartburg Castle--but any place in the town center would be. When we checked in we asked whether breakfast was complimentary and were told, 'yes.' The morning of our departure we stopped in the breakfast room for a cup of coffee and cereal, and as we were leaving the hostess told us that breakfast was 15 euros each. Surprised, but in a hurry to catch our train, we paid 30 euros for two cups of coffee, a bowl of cereal and a croissant. Bad form by the hotel.

Not quite what we expected

The hotel is in a great location and has a lovely lobby. The rooms are basic, but the beds are comfortable (apart from the pillows - they were very floppy) and the bathroom was lovely. The rooms were very clean, and were cleaned daily.

A few negatives:

1) Nowhere on the hotel website, nor on hotels.com does it say that there is a fitness centre at this hotel. This would be a good thing to highlight. My husband is very keen on keeping fit, but didn't bring his gym kit as there was no mention of fitness facilities.

2) The car park is very tight, and we received a very stern letter from reception that we were parked too close to another car. The car on the otherside was right on the line and it was difficult for us to get further away from the car. Also, it wasn't made clear to us when we checked in that there is an extra charge for the car park. All the signs are in German, and neither of us spoke German. The lady at reception said that we should have asked!!!

部屋の充電用コンセントの差し込み口が従来のままで、USB等が一つもない点と、部屋に冷蔵庫がないこと、ジムは形だけで有酸素マシン2台以外はほぼ使えないのが難点。そこがマイナス1点ですが、それ以外は素敵なホテルです。

Die Jungs an der Rezeption waren äußerst freundlich und hilfsbereit, was ich von einer weiblichen Angestellten nicht sagen konnte. Als wir das Hotel betraten und zum Empfang liefen, sah uns eine ältere Mitarbeiterin. Sie schaute uns kurz an, drehte sich zu ihrem jungen Kollegen und sagte ihm, er möge das bitte übernehmen. Fand ich unhöflich. Ansonsten alles top, auch die Mitarbeiterinnen beim Frühstück, unglaublich freundlich und aufmerksam.

In het centrum van Eisenach en vlak bij een winkelstraat. Ondanks het zeer warme weer hebben we niet op het terras van het hotel kunnen zitten. Na één regenbui werd het terras afgebroken en de parasols ingeklapt, terwijl er bij een restaurant (de Baron), dat in het zelfde gebouw als het hotel is gevestigd, de stoelen en de tafels droog werden gemaakt en alles weer beschikbaar was.
De kamer was netjes. De matrassen waren slecht. Een veer was goed voelbaar

Schönes Hotel mit Abzug in der B-Note

Das Hotel ist schön gelegen in der Eisenacher Innenstadt und hat sehr hilfsbereites und freundliches Personal.

Einziger Wermutstropfen ist die Parksituation. Das Parkhaus ist sehr sehr eng. Des Weiteren gibt es zu wenig Parkplätze für das Hotel insgesamt somit muss man bis zum nächsten Parkhaus 500m durch die Innenstadt laufen.
Die Parkplätze direkt vor der Tür sind öffentlich und zu dem Kostenpflichtig. Die maximale Parkdauer beträgt dort 30min.
Angesehen von diesen Umständen mit der Parkerei ein sehr schönes Hotel
