I stayed one night in Palermo, and since it’s almost impossible to find a hotel with parking in the city center, this hotel was a great find. It offers free parking, which is a huge advantage. The rooms are large and comfortable, the price is very affordable, and the reception staff is warm and friendly. Overall, it was a very comfortable and pleasant stay.

Very limited and sketchy parking situations didn’t feel safe leaving property to look for parking or dining. Property has potential but it’s like it’s become the party hotel for young people. Additionally the night of our stay there was a party of about 100 teenagers on a school or group trip which took over the entire facility. They were incredibly loud overnight and they blocked all the walkways in the morning forcing us to dragged luggage across green spaces just to get to front desk.

We LOVED this hotel.

This little hotel is a gem. Our room seemed brand new in all ways and super clean. Yet the exterior buildings have the character of a Palermo hotel from the 1800s, and I mean that as a compliment. Great air conditioning. The breakfast is fabulous including the best croissants I have ever tasted, with 4 or 5 choices of fillings. If you need something in this part of town or somewhat close to the airport, this is a winner.

Noisy because of the receptions next door and concerts nearby. Ok if you choose a room in the 400-odd numbers.
Restaurant food was ok. Menu a bit boring to eat every day, but no issue as there are plenty of choices nearby, at walking distance.

Although on-site parking was listed, it was difficult to find, and access to the hotel by car was difficult too. The garden courtyard was pleasant, but rooms at that level (we booked a \"standard room\") had no ventilation unless you gave up your privacy and opened your door. AC was weak at best and seemed to go off in the morning, leaving us with a stuffy and humid room. The young man who helped us with parking and luggage was great, and the breakfast was ample and quite good. Access to central Palermo is a problem as taxis overcharge for that area.

Nice hotel in a good location, within driving distance to the airport and the city centre. Spacious room with all amenities (Sky TV included), comfortable bed. The WiFi signal unfortunately couldn't reach our room properly, resulting in slow speed and connection drops. Breakfast was great, with a wide selection of sweet/savoury options and good quality products. The parking in front of the hotel is often busy, but they have an extra area nearby (ask reception).

Beautiful establishment, garden, rooms. Looks even nicer than in the pictures. Comfortable beds, pillows. Well kept in general, some small repairs needed - e.g. no place to hang the bathroom towels or beach towels. We travelled with a dog and this was a heaven for him - he rolled on the green grass and chilled :)

An oasis between the city and the beach

It's really rare to see such a green oasis anywhere in Sicily. It's a really nice place to relax and cool down in the evening. Rooms are beautiful, breakfast with a very wide choice, dinner also delicious at good prices. What we liked most is the closeness of Mondello beach. It took us 7 minutes to get there by car, so we could get a quick morning dip and get back in time for breakfast. We loved it.

The property is located on the west side of Palermo in a very, very quiet setting. Parking is easy and free. The rooms are very clean and the baths have recently been remodeled and well done. If one wants to tour just outside of Palermo, this place is especially great because you won't have to be in the center of town where there is a lot of traffic, difficult parking or a lot of ZTLs (where the streets become pedestrian walkways). If you want to walk around, there are stores and restaurants nearby (including a nice sized grocery store about two blocks away). The breakfast area is welcoming and the selections are great.
Another high point, the heating -cooling is room independent. You can make it as warm or cool as you want. It's about 3 miles from the historical center of Palermo

Not much around the hotel, especially on Sundays. Could not get WiFi to work unless we were in check in area which made it challenging to finish travel plans. Depending on which building you’re in you may not have an elevator, but staff carried bags up at check in. AC works well but you have to call them at 503 from your room to turn it on and tell them what temp to set it to, which they didn’t explain at check in. No laundry service on the weekend either and closest laundry mat on Sunday was a $20 can ride one way away, so we had to wash items by hand. All that aside it’s a clean decent hotel-they just need to update some of this info before people book.

The staff are all AMAZING!!
I would highly recommend this hotel for someone staying in Palermo.
The hotel is well situated as long as you can drive- But bus stop are nearby and you can always book a taxi if needed.
The hotel is not central but if you are looking for a quiet night, this is the place to stay in.
The room are very clean and have all the amenities you need
The breakfast is very generous and includes fresh sicilian products ( pastries and citrus and else).
The only negative point is the WIFI. You can only use it in the lobby.

Hotel is in a good location, tucked out of the way so things are not too noisy and a degree of privacy is assured. Grounds have been reasonably well secured and the layout of the place is beautiful.

Only major nag was an outside faucet located just across the walk from my room door - this was used sometimes later in the night and it actually sounded like the container being filled was just on the other side of the door. Maybe some weather stripping needed to help with soundproofing.

Hotel too far from city

Hotel gave us a room overlooking a building site. Had to pay to upgrade to a decent room.
Hotel advertises on website to have a restaurant and to provide shuttle service. It has neither.
Hotel far from city and tourist areas, requires two buses to get anywhere. Also, reception gave misleading information on how to get anywhere, presumably trying to get us to book taxis.
Only one restaurant nearby - very expensive - min 60 euros for two people.
Hairdryer in room not working, safe not working.
Unable to get a drink on Sundays as bar closed.

PROs: Beautiful layout, perfect location for everything, comfortable, large garden, mountain view, free substantial breakfast, free parking, good promotional price
CONS: weak or non existent WiFi contrary promotion, Bathroom with :0\"(zero) ways to hang out anything: towels, cloths, etc. Also walls have better ears than the hotel staff to whom you relate a problem all week long with no results. And that after you pay the hotel an almost full week stay.

Nice hotel it's been renovated.

Nice hotel. They let us check in early and it's near local Sicilian restaurants. Buses are free to get to the hotel from the airport and all over Palermo. There is a great bakery nearby that has the best canolis. Check it out you won't be disappointed.

Stayed one night, due to my flight being rescheduled a day early. Hotel was nice, from what I saw. The room and bed was comfortable. Long shower, but no doors, so the water tend to get on the floor.
I have two issues: Part of the walls in my room were peeling/ mould like. And the dishes were NOT clean when I went to have breakfast. Some had food in it, and when I brought it to the waiter's attention he moved them and showed me others that were stained.
Those are the reasons why I wouldn't recommend this hotel.

Nice quiet hotel - away from the madness and noise

All in all, a good place to stay. The hotel was a bus ride (shortish - maybe 20mins) aways from the centre of town, and near to the big park and so it was quiet as a result. Even late at night - it was perfectly safe as we were out in the non-touristy part of Palermo. Very handily, nearby there were supermarkets, tobacconists and other typical little stores that let us feel right at home :)

Parking, once explained, was simple.

We did have some problems with the fridge (which did get fixed) and a blind on the windows (which did not). This didn't really detract.

We would stay there again.

Quiet hotel between Palermo and Mondello beach

I enjoyed my journey at the hotel. The hotel was quiet, which is very nice after a day in busy Palermo.
The room was a bit dark and the bed not very comfortable (old mattress smaller than the frame) but I had view on the nice garden, which is what I was looking for. The breakfast was nice and you can ask the staff a real coffee (the one at the machine is not very nice).
The staff was very nice and helpful, speaking English and French as well.

Excellent choice for visiting Palermo

We needed accommodation for one night in Palermo and were very pleased with our choice - I would say this hotel is ideal if you prefer a location slightly out the centre of Palermo (a plus, in my view) and if you have a car. We were offered a very spacious and well appointed family room. Staff were very professional and helpful. The hotel is set in one of the better neighbourhood of Palermo (reviews stating the contrary were written by people who just have not seen enough of Palermo I suspect) with easy access to the motorway, city parks and the beach resort of Mondello. The airport is 20-25 minutes' drive away. All in all an excellent base to visit this city or, as was our case, for a quick stopover. If you have a car, the hotel offers a choice of options: there is an underground garage (chargeable, but car is fully insured); a private parking area (in theory there is access from the street but there are also many cameras); and a gated compound. The latter two options were offered free of charge. Breakfast was also very good in our opinion. Note that there are two different hotel names served by the same reception. This slightly confused us at the beginning.

Not a bad place. We had four people in one room. One double bed and two singles, the single were to small and uncomfortable. The room had plenty of room for another double bed. The breakfast did not accommodate gluten free. I have yogurt for breakfast. The restaurant waiter was trying to up sell . He was bringing out food we didn't order all night and wanted us to pay for it.

Disappointing aspects, first room offered was modern very clean with plasma TV but very small, and around the back of the hotel. We asked to change rooms , staff was excellent and gave us another !! This room a little dated from the first but still very clean and larger, the TV was at least 20 years old and didn't work properly, the fridge didn't work either both reported to staff who sent someone round who just pulled the plugs out ??? Room was cleaned first class every day. Rooms have no windows only glass doors overlooking concrete wall of underground car park which was over shadowed by the largest high rise social housing complex peering over at you. Breakfast was very very basic, but again the staff were first class. The so called bar area was never open so you had to order a drink through the reception. Dinner at the restaurant was next door But only if there was not a wedding going on as this area was always being let out. A small area by the car park was the only seating area to relax.
This hotel is mainly used for functions and short stay groups on excursions. The photo used to advertise through Expedia is deceptive as it is not the hotel but the venue used for the weddings. Had we known this we would not have stayed there.

Comfortable hotel on outskirts of Palermo

We hugely enjoyed this holiday. We had not been to Sicily before and this was an excellent base for exploring several parts of the island - including some beautiful sites, all the more so for being decked in spring flowers. The Greek temples at Selinunte and Segesta were especially impressive as were the Roman mosaics at Piazza Armerina, although it was almost 3 hours drive over the mountains in the centre of the island to the latter. We also very much enjoyed the food - the seafood was excellent (even if ultimately disappointing in Porticello, where much is landed from the boats). There are several good restaurants near the hotel including La Brasiera and (more expensively) La Caseta de la Nonna. In short, we can't wait to return to Sicily and visit some other areas.

The hotel very much suited our needs, and as part of a package deal (with flights and hire car) was very good value. Driving around Palermo is quite challenging and we advise full insurance cover as it is rare to see a car without scratches down the side. Top tip: make sure you have a map to the hotel from the airport or a sat nav as without this (as we discovered in a torrential rain storm) it is very hard to find your way around the outskirts of Palermo with its many one-way streets. The hotel has secure parking (at an extra cost) and rooms have air conditioning or heating. Careful if you leave your windows open as there are Mosquitos (in the spring at least).

Rooms a little disappointing

When we arrived at our hotel room after a very long journey, we were really disappointed with our room. The decor is in dire need of updating, as well as the bathroom. The hotel prides itself on water conservation but there was an archaic hot water tank in the bathroom and we had to wait for water to be heated up before we could all have showers.

Breakfast was in a better place but in a separate building and the courtyard made up for the grim rooms.

Easy to get to from the airport. Great private parking. Feels a bit like a conference venue but we would certainly stay again. We came on the late flight from the UK and the restaurant was closed but the very nice receptionist showed us the way to a lovely trattoria nearby. Loved the breakfast room and breakfast first rate. Good value for money; i'd stay there again.

This is not really a hotel! Most of the rooms are in separate buildings from the reception area and access to the rooms is outdoors. The breakfast is OK but again the breakfast is located in a separate building which is not signposted at all. Although the hotel claims to have Wifi in the rooms there is none. Wifi is only available in the reception area. There is a bar but it is not staffed and ordering a drink is only possible if there is no function on in the adjoining wedding centre.

We had an excellent experience at Hotel Casena Dei Colli. There was air conditioning in the rooms as well as a shower and a mini frig. Breakfast was included in our package and it was good. The staff members were helpful and professional. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Palermo.

A good spot for both Palermo and airport.

Ideal for a one or two-night stopover. The area is quiet and the room was large, nice and clean and perfectly adequate for our purposes. The hotel is well situated for a relatively easy access to the city by bus (around 30 minute journey, one change) which saved us having to drive in Palermo or stay in a noisy city centre location. Car parking was included in the very reasonable price. The journey from hotel to airport by car was very straightforward and less than 30 minutes.

We stayed a couple of days and the room was spacious and clean but the door was not very well insulated so it can happen to hear your neighbour slamming the door. The nice mansion in the picture is available to guesst only in the morning at breakfast time. Breakfast is ok and wireless is free!

Nice hotel for couples

The hotel is quite a distance from the city center and rather difficult to find driving yourself.
The staff are helpful and friendly. Most of the rooms are rather small and do not have windows. We had a big room on the second floor with 2 windows. There are no pegs to hang your coat or towel (in the bathroom). The staff says that the architect would not allow them !? There is a nice old garden around ( the guestrooms are divided by ''pavillions'')
Breakfast, which is continental and quite good, is served on the second floor of what was the original villa of what was probably a farm.

I had lived in Milan for 12 years so know Italy well, but had never been to Sicily. While I love Italian food, Sicilian was quite a disapointment.We stayed a week and ate in a dozen restaurants,quite a few expensive, but the food was never good.

Handy for the Airport and getting into Palermo

We stayed here for 2 nights on our way home from Sicily, and loved it. The hotel has beautiful grounds and is handy for both the airport and getting into central Palermo, but still outside the mad traffic congestion of the inner city. It's really easy to get into central Palermo too, just a couple of short bus rides. The hotel feels very much like a conference venue so there are no airs and graces in the rooms, although ours was like a suite with a separate living room that we really didn't use. It came with a safe and mini bar, and the onsite restaurant was great after a day sightseeing in Palermo. Would definitely recommend this on your last night in Sicily as it's within 20 mins drive of the airport. Only downside is that the rooms lack character, but the gardens make up for that.

good value for money

+ points: our room for 3 people turned out to be a sort of apartment with 2 (!) spacious bedrooms. Beds were comfortable. The room had a safe, a desk, a fridge, heating (needed in February!) and a small balcony overlooking the gardens. Breakfast was in a different building; it was continental; a large variety of croissants, bread rolls with meat, cheese, and the usual jams etc. Fresh fruits, yoghurt, fruit juice (not fresh) and tea/coffee (instant).The restaurant offered good food (but you needed several courses to \"fill up\"). - points: the bathroom was mouldy and somewhat dated. All communal areas were freezing cold; people ate breakfast with their coats on. The communal sitting room (with comfy sofas) too was not heated and very cold. Only the restaurant was. The doors to the bedrooms and into the building were extremely loud. The bus trip into Palermo (we had to change once and had to wait 30 min for our connection) took almost an hour, but this was on a Sunday, maybe during the week they run more regular. General tip if you travel by car: bring/hire a satnav!!! There are many steps and stairs in this hotel which some people might find difficult. The breakfast room is \"upstairs\" and I didn't see a lift.(didn't look for it either) There were lifts in the building where the bedrooms are, but they were in between floors so you'd still have to walk up or down half a flight of stairs. All in all, we found the hotel offered many \"extras\" for a 3 * hotel.

Need car to see sites in Palermo

The hotel is functional and hotel staff are kind. Breakfast is served in the neighboring villa - it must be nice in the summer time. Twin beds are narrow - on the smaller side. There are some nice restaurants in the walking distance and a supermarket. It is far from city center, so you need to hire a car.

We enjoyed our stay very much. Remarkably good value for Palermo. True, it does take at least a half hour to get into center city by bus, but for us it was worth it. Parking for the car (which you don't want to use in the city anyway) and easy exit from the city to the air[port to the north were of great value to us.

In/out of Palermo access, great hotel!

The courtyard and rooms of this hotel were great. The courtyard was a quiet, lush oasis away from the grittiness of Palermo. And our rooms were huge: a sitting room, bedroom, and a small balcony. The breakfast was our favorite of our trip (we stayed in three other hotels) because of the wider selection of cornetti, but their coffee was the worst (auto machine that made subpar coffee). Fridge in room. Cheap, authentic pizzeria at the intersection of the hotel's street and the main street for convenient, delicious pizza. Easy access to the hotel on streets that were not overly congested with traffic. Overlook the coffee and stay here!

Overnight stay close to airport

Excellent value. Modern room on the ground floor in Stanze Baronali section. Pleasant garden area. Only problem was loss of electricity in the bathroom section a couple of times. Dealt with promptly by the maintenance staff, even at six in the morning. Dining room and meal very pleasant. Breakfast in very elegant surroundings was good. Hotel was handy for Palermo airport hence we chose it for a stay the night before our flight home.

Good spot close to Palermo airport

We stayed at Casena dei Colli on the final evening of our driving tour through Sicily and chose this hotel based on its location outside of Palermo that was fairly close to the airport. It has a parking lot for about 25 cars, although you may find this gets filled up if there are a lot of guests or people visiting the attached restaurant.

We were put in a room in a block of hotel-apartments that were branded \"Stanze Baronali\" and it looks like they are rebranding part of the complex under this new name that isn't yet fully \"online\" (at the time of visiting/writing this review). This block contains the newer rooms; ours had a beautiful rain shower in the bathroom, modern interior, brightly lit room, contactless key card for entry, powerful air conditioning, and balcony that faces the interior/complex garden.

It's five-star for Casena dei Colli but it may be the case that it's actually for Stanze Baronali (when this brand finally launches!).

Discriminates against those without internet acces

We were pleased with the hotel, but not with the fact that good prices were available only through internet travel agents, not by telephone or arrival at reception. This is anti-competitive and means that those who don't book through the internet subsidise those who do. This is quite unfair and should be stopped.

There were no English language TV programmes on offer. Why no BBC?

Great rooms

Not in the center of Palermo, so a car is an advantage, but then very quiet neighbouhood.
The room we stayed in was brand new decorated, very big and there was nothing we could have asked more for.
Good breakfast, good selection of diffrent food. We really enjoyed our stay.

We had to wait a few hours before we could enter our room. But it did worth the wait. The surrounding area of the hotel was quite dodgy, with post-communist block of flats. The garden, the room and the restaurant were really nice though. The breakfast was ok, but plain. We really missed the authentic south italian cuisine, ie. the vegetables...
On our last day, we had to vacate the hotel before the breakfast time, therefore got a packed breakfast which we were really pleased about until we opened the packages. All we received were some biscuits, condiments, glass of water, apple and one yoghurt for two of us...

Second hotel for 4 nights at start of 63 day tour

Clean,quality hotel. A bit remote but safe and easy transit to all Palermo sites. Good, cooperative and helpful staff. Eating places only average,and necessary to ask about \"cover charge\" prior to ordering. Memory of added. charges(coperto) not pleasant, so avoided repeat visits to those that do.Value for money was good. Hoping that at least some of the 15 other Accomodations measure up to this standard.

Recommended for travelers with their own car.

We thought that this Hotel was excellent value for the price that we paid. The Hotel staff were very helpful, we had issues with our original room, but they moved us promptly to one more suitable. Particularly recommended for anyone with their own transport, as there was parking available. We also enjoyed our meals at the Hotel restaurant.
