We could hear water running somewhere in the bathroom in the first room we were given. It wasn't the toilet and you could hear it even with the bathroom door closed. Second room: staff member put us next door - same thing. Third room: asked him to put us on the 2nd floor away from the other rooms. Opened the door and heard the smoke alarm chirp (low battery). We were going to just remove the battery, then saw a live bug just above it on the wall. Decided to check for more and found a dead one on the sill. That was it! Packed up our things and told him we were leaving.
We had many choices for accommodations in this area but chose Hampton Inn because it has always been safe and clean. Not a safe choice for us anymore. This place should be shut down. It looks like it hasn't been updated in 30 years - carpet, fridge, furniture, microwave - all 3 rooms. I also saw somewhere that breakfast was included. When the staff member handed us our first room keys, he said, \"Room 117. No breakfast.\" Terrible experience.
All of this made us late to meet friends whom we hadn't seen in 6 years that we would have limited time with. So disappointing. Went 1 mile down the road and stayed at a very nice place called Hillside Motel.

The room was clean, but still has carpeting on the floor. There were NO outlets next to the bed to plug in your phone or any device. The man who checked us on was efficient, but not friendly. No breakfast. I chose the motel because it allows pets, fir a nominal fee.

Super dated, fruit flies everywhere, we didn’t even bring our bags in. We slept on top of the covers in our street clothes. There were stains ontop of the bedding. It was a very short trip. Slept maybe 6 hours and left.

I called, the gentleman on the phone kept yelling at me, then said I had only made 1 reservation - I said no I have 2 and then he said “just come in - we’ll figure it out. Didn’t complain because I’m sure there’s not a better room to be moved into anyways so had to just deal with it. Luckily a cheap stay but would avoid next time

Room has horrible damp smell, old microwave , smelly and watery fridge. Found hairs on blanket, only provide 2 towels while we have 4. Vending machine charge incorrectly $10 for a regular size bottle of water and they won’t refund or give any explanation why or how to claim the mis-charge. Overall a very unpleasant and frustrating experience for the amount of money I paid for a hotel.

Parking easy. Big turn off was hallway and stairs. FILTHY with chipping paint on concrete walkway. We were afraid to open room door. Furniture, microwave, refrigerator and faucets very dated. Carpeting needs replacing but room was clean. No coffee maker in room. No hair conditioner or lotion, just shampoo/conditioner combo. Grab and go breakfast was NOTHING but muffins, granola bars and coffee. No juices, yogurt or fruit. Do not recommend.

The place did not have 2 queen beds, they only had doubles . We are a family of 5.
They finally provided with a portable bed only to find blood stains on the pillow and awful smell. I did not use it. I found spider webs on all the lamps and the ac unit covered with dirt . I did provide pictures

The “breakfast” was granola bars and prepackaged muffins. But, the coffee/tea was good.
I wouldn’t have minded so much, but there wasn’t many options for breakfast in the immediate area.
We drove around looking for a diner/restaurant, nothing much around.
We ended up eating at a trendy coffee place, good coffee, but odd trendy offerings that were a little pricey. I don’t need fruity chutney on my egg sandwich. Nice people working there, so, not so bad.

Good solid hotel room for those planning a kayak weekend trip with Shenandoah River Outfitters. Showers had good pressure, which helps after a long day on the river. Internet was solid. For us, the AC wasn't working, but we decided to endure it as we didn't want to repack everything after we had set up already in the room. Beds were comfortable, too. Solid place to put your head down.

It was PERFECT. I hesitated a lot because of the reviews but decided to stay because we were staying just for one night. We stayed in the room with two beds and it was renovated with nice bathroom tiles and modern mirror. There was a picture of the pool but no description of the pool as an amenity but I was presently surprised that pool is there and open from 9 am-10 pm. It was so beautiful and peaceful surrounded by mountains. There’s a vending machine and 24/7 coffee and tea in the lobby. Muffins and granola bars for breakfast. No roaches or bugs, everything was clean

We didn’t receive reminder from the front desk about clarification of the check-in instruction. We booked around 6pm and assumed that front desk should have enough time to do something before we stuck at the motel in a freezing cold winter night. No one answered my call, no emergency contact number left, no envelope with room key and notes inside…. Totally unacceptable…we contact Expedia for refund and had to call around for a bad somewhere else. Will rate “0” if there’s an option.

Front desk was not open 24 hours and no housekeeping services. Our room had mold in the bathroom with the wood trimming coming off. No hot water for the shower. TV screen was fuzzy. No drain stopper in the sink. My earring fell down the sink. Thank goodnees, someone had thrown a bottle cap in it that kept my earring from disappearing all the way down the drain. My husband was able to retrieve it. We had to keep the heating unit on 84 degrees to keep from getting cold. I do not recommend this place. Staff were friendly, but accommodations were awful.

The person working the front desk at check in was very friendly. The location of the property was perfect for our needs, but the room felt a bit dated. The bathroom door locked when closed and didn’t unlock easily. The water lever in the shower popped off when turned on, so we had to be careful when adjusting the temperature and pressure. Water pressure was good, though! Towels were a little rough and on the small size. It wasn’t awful, but definitely needs some upgrades.

Falsely advertised!

This hotel was falsely advertised! There was NO breakfast! There was NO coffee maker in the room! I went to the front desk to ask for one and you would think I asked for an ounce of gold! The receptionist pulled out and old pot and gave me. Luckily, I had brought my own coffee and sugar with me. The fridge froze our drinks. There was NO room service between nights either! I had to go down and get towels for the next day. I chose this one because of the jacuzzi in the room but the jets barely put out any air and wasn't much better than a home tub! This place is old, run-down and nowhere near worth the money to stay. There are several other options in the area, and I wouldn't recommend this one to anyone.
