Electricity in our room was not working. The room was not checked before we checked in. We could not open bedroom windows to get fresh air, since bedroom was small and not fresh.
There was a weird sound in the room like tık tik tik. İt was coming from the floor or wall woods. We could not understand the source but it was disturbing in the middle of the night. It was a small noice but disturbing in the silence of the night.

Loray Caverns and Shenandoah Park are both nearby. Beautiful boutiquey inn, large rooms, soft upscale bedding tastefully decorated and clean. Road noise was noticeable and a sound machine could help with a more enjoyable sleep. No elevator so be prepared for hauling your baggage up stairs.

Great place to stay! Super clean and well maintained. The decor is historic boutique at its best. Lots of charming touches. There is an outdoor terrace and a communal sitting area with coffee, chess boards, and lots of historic books. My kids loved the loft bed. It felt like a second bedroom to them with their own space.

When searching for place to stay to visit Shenandoah and Luray Caverns, most were bed and breakfast type places, cabins that looked old and not clean, or roadside motels. This is truly a gem amongst them.

Seamless check-in and check-out. Food places within walking distance. Highly recommend.
The manager, Jenn, was super easy to communicate with over text. She truly cares about this place and it shows.

Great hotel, great location

Luray is the perfect location for Shenandoah National Park, only 15mins drive away from the entrance at Mile 31.

The hotel is a lovely historic combination of character and modern luxury. The internet speed is good, the TV is Smart and the rooms are well equipped.

My only criticism is noise, you can hear people in the adjoining room and the trains that run through Luray make a load warning siren, even in the middle of the night.

It’s a pretty hotel… only issue was we couldn’t get in! There was no staff here at 4pm (the front desk was supposed to be open with a human until 6pm). We couldn’t get in & had to call the main hotel number after googling it & then someone answered that line & sent us a text 20 mins later so we could get into our room!

This hotel is very posh, nicely decorated, clean and comfortable. However, it is greatly overpriced for the value. Be advised, there are few, if any, handicap-accessible rooms. Our room had an exterior entrance at the top of a significant flight of stairs with no elevator anywhere.

Bedroom, living room, bath coffee kitchen. This looks like a bed and breakfast without the breakfast. Our entrance opened to the outside but the majority of the hotels entrances open to the inside. The inside of the hotel is beautiful, some nice sitting areas, another kitchen, coffee machines and such.

But this place is totally unattended, there's no humans that work here. Everything is done by text message, it's very odd. Plus there's cameras in all the public areas so they could see what's going on I suppose

Very nicely decorated, a lot of antique type of fixtures and things. Everything is large space-wise.

Cleanliness was another issue , our Oven had a takeout container that had about 3 in of mold growing on the outside of it. Some of the drawers in the unit had crumbled up napkins and kleenexes

Door lock failed to let us in multiple times and even though we contacted our invisible staff, it was never fixed

Would have been a lot less expensive to have stayed right up the street in a much nicer building with humans on staff

The online pictures don’t do the hotel justice. The property is far more attractive in person. If you are sensitive to scents, this might not be the property for you. Our room was overloaded with some sort of artificial fragrance and the bedding had an overwhelming fragrance that gave us headaches.

Very lovely and quaint hotel. We were very pleased with the stay and the staff. Happy to have this as an option as opposed to the various motels in the area. Big plus that this hotel is pet friendly. Very convenient to Luray Caverns. Restaurants and cafes were within walking distance. We felt very happy and cozy in our room, will only stay at Hotel Laurance if we are visiting the area.

Nicely redone historic inn. Rooms were great with kitchens and the loft was perfect for our kids. Staff was nice and helpful. We were provided with a list of restaurants that were open which was helpful as there seemed to be a good number of things still closed or with limited hours.

In mid-January, my fiance and I reserved a room at the Hotel Laurance for a Valentine's Day getaway. We received confirmation of our reservation from Hotels.com, and believed everything was set for our stay. But, when we arrived at the hotel, we were told that although our reservation was in the computer system, the room was double booked. There were no other open rooms, and we could not stay there.

The front desk employee told us this had happened a few times before (apparently, the system can glitch when two online reservation requests are submitted too close together, and this can result in a double booking). We understand that mistakes happen. But since the reservation was in the hotel's computer system and they could see room was double booked, this seems like something hotel employees should have caught early and notified us about, especially if it had happened a few times before.

Overall, we were very disappointed with the customer service we received. The hotel staff suggested other places to stay, but at no point did the hotel offer to pay for our stay elsewhere, provide a voucher if we wanted to come back another time or offer any other measure to make things right. It was also Valentine's Day weekend, so other accomodations were limited
The staff didn't accept any responsibility for what happened. They blamed the issue on Hotels.com, and the told us that if we had booked directly through the hotel, this wouldn't have happened. We ended up just driving home.

Not worth the money!

Not worth the money! While the hotel is immaculate and has a fantastic aesthetic, it is not well-appointed. Basically, there is no staff at this hotel on a regular basis. Your name is on a card on the door with a code to enter your room and there is a number to call if you need something. At this price, I would expect turn-down service, a refrigerator in the room, and not to have to hear traffic noise. Oh, yes, this hotel sits right on the main street of the town and four of their rooms face it.

I love this hotel. It is quaint and quiet. I was shocked at first at the check in process (they leave an envelope with your name and room access code on the door). But if you need anything during your stay you just call them. There is no front desk. The rooms are so cozy and like a home away from home. I will definitely stay here again.

Our check in was a key left taped on the side door. No one to help with our luggage and no elevator. A little difficult climbing up a flight of stairs. Our room was cute, bed very comfortable but overall not worth the $250.00 price.

The young man who let us in needs guidance in speaking slower and more clearly. ‘Here are the combinations to the doors have a. Have a nice stay’, that’s about all he could muster.
Secondly- unit 1, a frying pan and one small pot does not make a kitchen. Maybe a cutting board as well.
Nice Reno on the building, good neighborhood, nice town all in all a pleasing time.

Very lovely - the bed was very comfortable, the history of the building and refurbishing interesting and well done. We enjoyed the chess set in the common room. It would be nice to have the snack options in each room, and/or some complimentary breakfast bars or something. In fact, I thought I'd read that there was breakfast included, but there wasn't, other than some snacks for purchase. A Continental breakfast served in the common room would go a long way. At check-in, it took us a bit of wandering and trying doors to find the front door with the envelope addressed to us. Sending check-in instructions via email would be very helpful for a smooth check-in process without a front desk. Overall, a very pleasant and quiet stay for us. Glad we tried Hotel Laurance!

Quick overnight trip through area. Too bad I couldn't have stayed longer and actually enjoyed all the amenities the room offered. The bed was super comfortable. Only issue was I didn't read the fine print that says you are supposed to book 24+ hrs away from a stay as there is NO front desk or way to check-in (each door has its own digital key code they provide). I had to wait outside 20 min until we reached the hotel after hrs. They called back and were very helpful getting ion then...

My husband and I stayed here over the weekend for our anniversary. We loved the room we stayed in and the hotel itself had so much character. I felt like the decor was picked out by Joanna Gaines herself it was so adorable! We both thought it was a little odd that there was no front desk to check in. When we arrived, we had no idea where to go or where to park. We had to find our room on our own. The whole time we were there we saw maybe one staff person cleaning. In a cool way, it kind of felt like we were the only ones there. There’s also no breakfast unless you pay extra to have it brought to your room. Other than that, we loved our stay.

The hotel was beautiful and in a great location, but there was a piece of sheet metal that sounded like it was ripping off the building or roof the entire night keeping everyone awake. Room was beautiful, clean, and perfect otherwise, but if you can’t actually sleep it’s all for naught.

Mattress and bedding was very comfortable and smelled wonderful. Hotel location was very convenient, close to Luray Caverns and restaurants. Hotel itself was very quiet, however if you are a light sleeper you want to pack earplugs due to road noise in case you get a room near the street. Be aware that this facility is really more like a cross between a hotel and an Airbnb, with no staffing on site in the evenings, and no ice machine on site. However, they do mention this online. All in all a very nice place, Although a bit pricey for what you’re getting.

The rooms and the facilities are very clean and are very nicely decorated. If you want a very clean upscale place to stay in Luray this is a good option.... but the name Hotel is a misnomer. It is more like a cross between a VBRO apartment rental or a B and B minus breakfast. No staff after 6 and only cleaning people during the day. A kuerig for your use in the downstairs hall. For the price they charge in Luray and the name “hotel” I would have expected a coffee station and fresh fruit and rolls.

Overall a very nice hotel in which we experienced a minor inconvenience--a TV that did not work properly (or a cable remote we could not decipher--hard to say which). The problem became serious when it cost us the chance to watch a long-anticipated basketball playoff game, so our frustration level far exceeded the normal impact of such a problem. However, the on-call staff troubleshooter was indeed on call and came immediately and solved the problem by allowing us to move to another room to watch the game. While we missed most of it, we still appreciated her quick efforts. Then, to compound the memorability of our planned two-day stay, my wife developed a painful foot problem that necessitated an early departure. Despite the fact we had made a non-refundable payment in advance for our stay, the hotel management graciously agreed to refund our second, unused night's charge. We certainly would have understood if they had chosen not to do that, but we are hugely grateful that the Hotel Laurence still operates on such customer-focused principles and certainly will stay here again.

This was our first visit to the Shenandoah / Luray area. We we very impressed with the Hotel Laurence! We were there during a spring snow storm which made the area even more charming. The hotel owner/staff have thought of everything. It was a bit eerie when we arrived to a totally empty building! But everything was charming. Enjoyed the peace & quiet.

I truly love this hotel. Historic and quaint within walking distance to lots of Luray. Love the historic photos and rows of old prekindle reading material. I even had to find some of the old books on amazon to have at home.

The hospitality for pets was a great topper. As soon as we got into the room there are doggie bowls and busicuits waiting.

Great parking too!

Protip: Try The Speakeasy a couple of blocks away for good food and drinks.
