The hotel looks beautiful on the outside. We checked into our room and the minute I opened the room door all I could smell was mold/mildew. The window was painted shut. I went down to the desk and asked for a room with a window that opened, they had one available. The exterior of the window was covered in black mold/mildew. But the room didn't smell horrible. There were no bath towels provided in the room. Which I hadn't noticed until the morning when I was ready to shower.
There was a nice \"speakeasy\" in the lowest floor of the hotel.

The staff was not friendly. We were waiting about 30 min in bar to be seated and reminded a stuff 3 times! We explained our friends about to leave and we can seat instead. They said no. We have to wait. As soon as our friends left they said “oh yes, now we will clean up your table”. Nonsense. The air conditioner is too noisy. Impossible to sleep with that sound. Two kids of friends of mine got stuck in the elevator and spent their about 25 min. The elevator repair man said that’s it’s been a wild and he doesn’t remember how system works. So our friend helped him to open the elevator.
The experience could be much more better

We loved our stay at the Mimslyn Inn! The hotel is beautiful and charming, and it made for a very relaxing stay! The staff was very nice and helpful and I loved that there is constant free coffee in the lobby. I spent some time each day just sitting in the lobby and patio, enjoying the music or the mountain views, sipping coffee.
Unfortunately the main dining room was closed for dinner both nights, but the Speakeasy was open and the main restaurant was still open for breakfast. Everything we ordered at the Speakeasy was delicious and I loved that there were rotating daily surprise specials. Only con is that there are no mini fridges in the rooms, but there are ice machines so we made due.

We’ll absolutely stay here again if we’re ever back in the area!

Beautiful property! We enjoyed meandering into the town and found some cool little spots to hang out, one with live music. Ending the day with drinks and apps on the porch surrounded by amazing views was wonderful. The staff was friendly as well. We will be back!

The room was clean, although it had a moldy smell when we entered our room.
When in the room, I did a lot of sneezing and coughing. It is also time for a new mattress.
Otherwise we really enjoyed the place. It is in a beautiful setting . Staff were great, and our dinner on the terrace was wonderful,and the menu was quite varied The view from the front porch is very beautiful.

The inn staff were friendly. The rooms were clean and quiet. The food in the restaurant was really good, with the best waffle fries. The only improvements I would suggest is a better mattress and pillows and having a better shower curtain that keeps the water in.

Rooms were small and out dated, no in room coffee, little space to walk around in and square corners on furniture is tough on calves, bathroom very cramped and fixtures in need of repair, shower products rack mounted on back wall right where your shoulders are making shower have even less space, no computer station for boarding pass printing, breakfast restaurant is fair my eggs Benedict was good.

Luray is a relaxing place meant for enjoying the beauty of the Blue Ridge mountains, the Shenandoah Valley, and a slower pace. There is adventure in fishing, rafting, hiking, and biking. There are no Gallerias or Malls. It is lovely and refreshing. The Mimslyn is perfect. The breakfast in the Circa 31 room is exceptional. The dinner and a drink in the Speakeasy is well done and much appreciated after a day exploring the area. We spent time fishing the South Fork Shenandoah and then came “home” to our base at the Mimslyn. Core memories.

After some bad weather prevented us from staying at our original planned accommodations, someone suggested we try the Mimslyn for the night. So we booked on the app and checked in around 11:30 pm. Beth the manager was fantastic - very kind, welcoming, and helpful. The room was well-apportioned and spotless. Breakfast the next day was also excellent. All the staff were friendly and informative. Most options in Luray are the strip-mall variety of hotels. The Mimslyn is a stately building with charm and touches of luxury, topped off with staff who went out of their way to make us feel welcome. If you're staying in the area, this is hands-down your best hotel option.

My husband and children raved about this hotel. The grounds are beautiful. The room was spacious for a family of 5, and staff was welcoming. We asked for a roll away bed and extra towels. After eating at the restaurant, which was also fantastic, we found both requests in our room waiting. I’d definitely come back to this hotel. It updated and the service is excellent.

Very clean and comfortable. The bed was very comfortable as well. The bathroom was a bit small but the deep tub was great for soaking. We would definitely come back as it felt like home away from home. As a side note* the food at The Speakeasy was terrible. We got the prime rib and it was terrible!

The Mimslyn is is wonderful place to stay. The room was small, but very nice. I'm not one who prefers to step into the shower over a tub wall, but the bathroom is spacious.

The Inn IS elegant and the views from the third floor or the front patio are very nice.

I have absolutely no complaints. It IS historic and the dining opportunities are enjoyable... and the staff, very accommodating!

You will enjoy your stay at the Mimslyn!

The rooms are very well designed I assume from the day they were built as the architects drawings are in the hallway showing the exact layout from the 1930s. The Speakeasy downstairs was very cozy and felt like an early 20th century Inn should feel like.
I have lived in Bucks County PA,
stayed at those Inns and the only big difference was the plumbing at the Mimlyn Inn was modern. You will have a grand time here with a large group or a couple friends visiting Luray and the Shenandoah region.

We stayed in one of the suites like we do every year. The room is spacious and clean. Everyone that works at Mims is friendly and mind. Speakeasy restaurant is out go to ebery night. Breakfast at Circa is also really good. We love coming here every year.

We truly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The room was spotless and provided a comfortable and relaxing environment . On our first day, the Front Desk receptionist was very helpful and friendly, making us feel genuinely welcomed . Her hospitality set the tone for a great experience.
We also appreciated the delicious food served at the hotel restaurant. If there is one suggestion for improvement, it would be to offer a wider variety of movie options on the TV program. Nevertheless, our experience was excellent, and we would gladly return in the future.

We ate off-site, like most hotel restaurants. The food was overpriced; however, we drove to Main Street and spent $70.00 at a deli...so we could have eaten at the hotel. Lol.

The lounge and terrace are beautiful and relaxing places to hang out. The rooms are quant, but smaller than they appear on the website and the mattress seemed uneven. The walls were so thin we could hear everything going on in the rooms around us. Our hair dryer was broken and dirty, the tub seemed cheaply refitted, but the excellent water pressure from the shower was nice. Housekeeping came by 3 times between 8:30-10am despite the do not disturb sign being on the door. The first time, I was woken up by housekeeping trying to enter the room, but the latch prevented them from fully opening the door. (Check out is at 11am.) After being unable to sleep comfortably, the housekeeping staff’s behavior was egregious.
Overall, good for events, but we probably won’t be coming back to stay.

This is an older property which could use a little TLC. Paint scuffs, dingy carpet, cracks in the bathroom. Breakfast was good but a limited menu. Sunday brunch was also good with more variety. But given the cost of the stay I would have liked a little more in the way of cleanliness and attention.

Wifi in the room was weak and faded in and out. Pretty much useless. I also noticed it was slow in the lobby as well. Carpets everywhere need a good cleaning. Furniture in room was tired and worn but 5 stars for cleanliness. Staff was amazing - friendly and helpful. Dining area was perfect. Food was excellent.

The surrounding areas speak for themselves. The quaint quiteness of the town. Is relaxing. It reminds me of a beetle juice/ The shining resort. The history is cool. The fact that it may be Haunted? Great location and historical hotel. Had a nice, comfortable suite, but bathroom could clearly near upgrading (e.g., caulking around tub looks like it has mold, but it's just very old caulking that has turned black). Disappointed that hot tub was closed, as was the pool, but we still paid a resort fee (and we didn't use any other facilities). Very odd that restaurant had too options for paying, with extra fee for charge. I've seen this at small shops, but never at a hotel.
