When we arrived, the staff was very friendly and helpful. Once we got to our room, the room was clean and the air was cold (absolutely loved). The room looked just like the photos from the site.

We did not attend breakfast either mornings but I was given the details for it when I checked in.

I would stay there again if I ever travel in that area again.

I really enjoy my stay. The hot tub worked perfectly. It was great. The temperature was great. The breakfast was good. He just didn’t have a lot of selections, but from what I did have, it was good. The room was ok. Nothing fancy. But you do t always need fancy. The bathroom could have been cleaner, but again, it was ok. What struck us was the woman who greeted us. She was as kind and as welcoming as she could be. We should have arrived Friday evening, but due to the government shutdown, many air traffic controllers were not being paid and they had to take other jobs to support their families. This left many airports in a pinch. We missed our connecting flight and had to fly from Denver to Orlando in order to go to Kansas. We were exhausted when we finally arrived at the Super 8 in Gardner, KS 13 hours later than we had anticipated. The nice woman who greeted us at the front desk made us feel like we were being welcomed home. She’ll never know how much that meant to us.

I was traveling alone and nervous in the parking lot, as there was a gentleman out front smoking and drinking beer in the parking lot in the back of his pickup truck. The staff was very cordial. Parking was basically a joke. 60+ rooms and only about 30 spots?!?!
We arrived later, but had several trucks with trailers parked across 4-5 spots! Was even a semi parked there RIGHT BESIDE SIGN THAT SAID NO SEMIS!!
Most all other hotels I've stayed at have specific parking for trailers and bigger trucks. Not to mention there was plenty of parking across street for them. I was originally told I would have to park in restaurant parking across the street with my truck, but ended up finding a spot after someone left luckily.
That was biggest issue here, especially when there was plenty of land to expand.

The Smell....

The staff at this location were truly exceptional (possibly the best hotel team we’ve ever encountered). Every interaction was warm, genuine, and personal; they greeted us by name and made us feel sincerely welcome. Unfortunately, the room itself told a very different story.

Room 100 had an overpowering stench that’s hard to describe...a heavy, chemical-like odor that seemed intended to mask something unpleasant but instead made the air nearly unbreathable. Three days later, I can still smell it. The odor permeated everything: our clothes, my skin, even my CPAP machine. I had to replace my filters (over $100), and the scent still lingers faintly inside the device.

The bathroom showed clear signs of neglect. The shower grout was crumbling, and visible mold had taken hold both in the corners and around the shower. The floor tiles inside the bathroom were beginning to lift as well. While there was a faint smell in the hallway, the intensity in our room was something else entirely.

We didn’t report the issue that night because we assumed all rooms might be the same, but in hindsight, I wish we had. The staff truly deserve praise, they were outstanding, but management needs to address the serious maintenance and odor problems in Room 100 immediately. I cannot recommend staying in that particular room until it’s been properly remediated.

Overall Great and Easy Stay

Checking in ahead of time on the phone is nice, speeding up the process once we got there. My only complaint is the service. Person checking me in was nice and gave good instructions and information, however it sounded like she either had someone on her speaker phone on her cell or was on FaceTime. I don’t want people hearing my business and you are at work. Take some pride in your job. Otherwise the hotel itself was clean and quiet.

This Super 8 is 100% improved since pre-COVID. Once when we stayed, there was a board over the crack in the bathtub, questionable people outside, didn't feel safe. Now it is clean inside and out, the beds are comfortable, got good sleep, quiet. The staff was very nice. Enjoyed our stay very much! Looking forward to the next time!

Honestly, the people upstairs were loud af, but it was like 5pm. I was just tired, hot and grumpy..
We only got a hotel because our AC in our semi went out, which they have limited parking for (again too hot to care), the toilets (at least ours) are put in at a odd angle lol.
But it did what I needed it for, shower, ac, and sleep!
Our door was somewhat hard to close and easy to open.
Anyways, they do allow pets but there’s a 25 pet deposit that I looked everywhere for before booking, to no avail.

The only thing that was detrimental about this trip was that there isn't an elevator here. The room was great, comfortable and I had my own hot tub to make into a pool after working in 100 degree heat all day but no elevator. The front desk employee helped me get all my things upstairs when I arrived and downstairs when I checked out. She was amazing. So if you need an elevator either choose some other Wyndam hotel, as they have pretty comfy beds, or make sure to get a downstairs room. I did this though and someone gave my downdtairs room to someone else. Thats why I'm giving 4 stars. I specifically asked and was promised a downstairs room. I didnt get one.

Shower hard to enter

Room was clean. One complaint. Even though the bathroom was handicapped accessible, you had to step over a knee high tub wall to get into the shower.

Snoopy cleaning service.

I was disappointed when we came back to our room to find my personal belongings had been gone through. I zipped up everything before leaving for the day. My bags had been opened and gone through. When I mentioned it to staff they didn’t seem shocked or to really care.

The room was very nice and the staff was friendly! Very quit stay even on a graduation weekend! There is a Walmart as well as eating and coffee place near by. Even though it was close to the interstate we never really heard the traffic and it made it convenient for travel!
