Checked into our room about 8pm. The tv didn’t work. The girl at the front desk said she didn’t know anything about it and we would have to wait 2-3 hours for the shift change before someone could fix it. We said no, and she moved us to the room next door. The curtains in this room were tacked to the wall at the corners and hung so low in the middle that they covered the heater. We had to put our shoes against it on the sill to get heat in the room. There was no coffee pot, no cups and the ice machine was broken. The tub was disgusting, we put a towel down to stand on so we didn’t have to touch it. The towels were just slightly larger than a hand towel, there were only 2, and one was stained with a big hole in the middle. The wall by the sink looked like someone had torn the towel rack out and it was never repaired. The bed had one sheet and something that looked like a curtain on it. There was garbage in the hallway when we got there and it was still there when we left the next day, as was spilled coffee in the doorway of the breakfast area in front of the front desk. This hotel is dirty and rundown and the staff doesn’t care about customer service or comfort.

Check in was pretty standard. Zero personality or care from front desk guy so that was a bummer right off the bat. The second I opened the door to the room the smell of mold took over. It seemed to be mostly in the bathroom so kept that closed and went to open window to air out bed area and had no screen. Sheets and pillow cases were stained. Towels were yellow and smelled of mildew. Breakfast was crap. Not a fruit in site…would not stay here again.

We booked for two nights and left at 2am on the first night! Disgusting! Mold around tub, smelt like someone smoked 20 packs of cigarettes daily in the room for the last 20 years. Dirty bedding, carpet and chairs. Paper thin walls, could hear everything going on around us. Small flies everywhere. We tried to tough it out but could absolutely not. And ended up booking a hotel 30 minutes away. Luckily, the Holiday Inn. in Elgin understands what good customer service and clean accommodations are and let us check in at 6am that same morning. The hotel is refusing to issue a refund for the second night. Horrible business practice since all of these problems we encountered were a direct result of bad property management on their behalf. The pictures of the property must be photoshopped because they are a horrible representation of what this place actually is, and the good reviews must be fake.

The staff at the hotel is extremely nice. I had to switch rooms three times, because the first room they put me in, the TV did not work, the second room they put me in the drapes were torn from the ceiling and lying on the floor. The third room they puts

The place was disgustingly dirty. It was hyped online as a whirlpool in the room. It’s just a regular garden tub in the bathroom… The tub was covered in black mold, and red mold… There was no screen in the window. I couldn’t open the window, there was no battery in the smoke detector, I found a flea in the bed, there was hair everywhere on the floor in the bathroom and around the sink area, there were stains of brown stuff all over the pillowcases and the blanket. I took videos of everything.

Our first room had a distinctive cat smell. We asked for another room and the front desk staff was visibly irritated by our request. Also indicated it was their last room so we couldn't move again if there was something wrong with the 2nd room.
The 2nd room was not clean. Our feet were black after walking around 10 minutes. Mold on the wall where it looked like they fixed a plumbing leak. There was a spot of bird poop on the air conditioner. Perhaps a window was left open to air out while doing repairs. Towels were stained. New lamp shades still had the plastic on them - a fire hazard. The shower curtain was too short for the tub and the pole angles upwards, so the curtain fell to the middle each time it was adjusted. The was a lake of water on the floor after the shower.
Breakfast was extremely limited. No protein offered. No napkins. A long line for the one waffle maker.
The front desk also gave our room number out to someone who was not a hotel guest. They did not call our room first to see if it was okay. A safety issue. Another safety issue was the hallway door. It had a sign that said it was locked all the time and you had to use your key card. It was always unlocked.
We haven't been disappointed by Super 8 or Wyndam in the past. We were not looking for fancy, just a place to sleep. But this location was dirty and had unsafe conditions. We were in town visiting family. We will not stay there again and we will tell our family to have other guests stay elsewhere.

When we arrived the TV didn't work, only one washcloth, the phone didn't work. I had to go back to front desk to let them know. They fixed TV but said the phones on the 2nd floor don't work. The bathtub was so dirty we could not take a shower during our visit. I had to ask for more coffee and they said you can come down to the lobby 24/7. Why have a coffee maker in the room??
The hallways smelled of an odor and the elevator floor had the same dirt in it for the 3 days we were there. I feel they are trying to do the absolute bare minimum.
I also asked for a receipt and he said it would be on my email. It is not! I would like a receipt for my visit please.

When we got there, there was nobody working at the counter rang the bell several times finally asked an individual that was sitting in the lobby. They were part of the cleaning staff they had to go and get the manager to get us to our room once we got in a room, odor the stains on all of the sheets and pillowcases the dog next-door barking in the room across the hall we got moved to another room which had even a stronger odor sheets, not clean curtains hanging off. We grabbed our stuff and we left. We refused to stay there and now we are trying to get reimbursement And that looks like it’s gonna be a complete loss.

My top comforter and all my pillow cases had brown stains in various places. When I asked for a new sheet the guy at the front got it for me but seemed very unconcerned about the uncleanliness and told me I’d have to remake the bed myself. When I pulled the comforter off I saw that the blanket had a whole area towards the bottom that was white and crusty. The hallways and room generally smelled like cheap cleaning products and cigarettes. Pictures were VERY misleading; this property wasn’t nearly as nice as the highly edited photos lead you to believe.

I decided to pay more for the hot tub and other amenities, however the microwave was broken and the fridge froze my food. I did enjoy the hot tub :) I was also looking forward to the breakfast. Yet only cereal and waffles were offered and the orange juice was out. One last thing, my room wasn't cleaned. I obviously can do that myself, but was looking forward to that. The room was old smelling of cigarettes. The microwave in the room was missing the door. The smike detector in the room was haning from ceiling with scotch tape. The hot tub in the room was actually a jacuzzi bathtub. Scotch tape holding the panels together in the front of tub. The jets on the tub were dirty and yellow.
The front desk staff acted as if we spoke no english when we inquired about restaurants in the area.
The morning continental breakfast had 1 slice of white bread only. No batter for waffles. No juices. No waters. The coffee was so thick it was undrinkable.
I took pictures of everything to orive these statements.
Oh and they hadno extra towels.

If I could give no stars I would! STAY AWAY from this place , unless you like staying at a dirty shelter. My boyfriend and I tried to have a fun weekend downtown took the train into Chicago and wanted to stay somewhere before we drove hours home.
Well we looked at THREE rooms and then decided to go home. By law rooms are required to have smoke detectors these rooms Do NOT !!! First room it was hanging open no battery, didn’t look 2nd room, third room it was wrapped in plastic wrap. The place is disgusting floors not vacumed, sheets had stains on them in multiple rooms, the first room the tables were still dirty stuff splattered on the headboard, chair was untouchable disgusting. Counters stained with pink stuff spilled all over. Elevator floors nasty everything about it was dirty. Then I upgraded for a jacuzzi tub and there’s one room and the tub was taped together with clear tape and moldy. I regret that I didn’t read the reviews first and went off the 6 rating, that’s a joke ! Now the manager is refusing to refund any of my money which was way too much for this place . obviously need that money more than I do and they enjoy scamming people so theres bad karma ! They should be embarrassed and ashamed!
