We had a cute little cabin just outside of the main room. It was small but it was all we needed for the one night stay we had. Food was very good. We found the restaurant pricey for breakfast. I can't eat 40 dollars worth of food in the morning and since there were no other options and no mini fridge we had to buy the breakfast.

My spouse and I booked the Fosshotel Hellnar as a stop on our Iceland road trip. It ended up being the perfect location to stop after 1 day travel from Reykjavik and partway around the Snaefellsnes peninsula. We were cold and tired by that point and the Fosshotel was so comfortable on our arrival. The fireplace in the lobby was very inviting.
The room was spacious, comfortable and the heated bathroom floor tiles were such an appreciated luxury to us that day.
We enjoyed dinner at the hotel restaurant as well as their breakfast buffet. All of the food was delicious. The prices were shocking to us in Canadian dollars but we got used to that in Iceland after a while. For the large portions and great quality, the prices were comparatively fair.
The hotel didn't have some of the amenities that we had in other stays during our trip but the location was beautiful. We had a gorgeous view of the glacier from our room before rain and fog settled in low for the evening.

The queen and twin options are grouped together for booking however when we asked for a twin room, we were told we had to pay an upgrade fee. When I pointed that out to the receptionist, they didn’t respond. Then they looked on the computer and told me they had no rooms available for twin and asked if “is it a big deal?”.

The hotel was nice and the staff was courteous. There is no sidewalk from parking so it may be difficult to drag your luggage and on top of that there were steps to go to our room. It was no big deal for me but I just want to provide this information. The dinner menu was good and the breakfast was amazing.

The location and views were great and the rooms were clean, but if you are expecting similar amenities to other Fosshotel locations you will be a bit disappointed.

The property is gorgeous and well-maintained. The lady who assisted me when I arrived at the hotel was impolite and provided poor service. I had to return to the registration desk after being allocated my room, and there was someone else there who was really friendly and attentive. The smell of food from the kitchen permeates all of the rooms on the right side of the property, and all of my garments smelled like food. The restaurant is neither the finest nor the worst; it is simply ok, but there are no other options available artound. The best thing about this location is the facilities, which are nicely maintained. Aside from that rude lady, everyone else was really nice and attentive.

Absolutely Gorgeous Hotel
We loved this hotel, and the fact that it was nestled away from everything in the area. We were upgraded to an ocean room on-site, the restaurant, while expense, was delicious, the room was comfortable, and had everything we needed. Breakfast had a variety of options and the staff was friendly, too. Our own downside was that the shower was a bit small and had an all-in-one body wash/shampoo. That wouldn't stop us from staying again; we'd just bring our own next time. Out of all of the hotels on our 10-day trip, this one is definitely in our top 3 favorites.

There are no places to dine in the area other than the hotel. They are quite pushy to get you to eat dinner and breakfast there. There are no facilities to prepare your own food which is quite frustrating and shocking because everywhere else we’ve stayed has options. They have signs in the room telling you to not cook or else you’ll be fined. For the price you pay they really need to accommodate all kinds of travellers. You’re not going to be able to stop people from preparing their own food so help accommodate them. I don’t want to spend 7000 on some beef and potatoes.

The staff was excellent. They rushed the cleaning of room to accommodate the lack of sleep we were experiencing. Not disabled friendly. No ramps and parking lot gravel. Cannot use cane in gravel, fear of falling. No space to move on either side of bed. Had to hold wall to squish thru.

Not worth the money, no focus on allergies
Beautiful location and friendlt staff at reseption, BUT :We had a room that was close to the washing mashines, they were noisy. Also, the door to the bathroom stuck several times, and the door to the shower didnt work properly. We told reseption immedeately, we were told they would speak with someone, nothing happend. Also the person serving in the dining room didnt know how to handle allergies, and there were no alternatives for bread and dessert for people with nut allergies. All in all: low standard compered to price: NOT worth the money

The hotel was fairly comfortable and it was clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms are very small and not much space for storage. Very warm in the rooms and windows only opened a small amount. Alarm went off in the middle of the night, which caused confusion as sleepy travelers stood in the halls and lounge with no direction. Might have been nice to offer complimentary breakfast due to us all getting disturbed sleep!
