The hotel was the perfect stay for us during our trip along the Ring Road. Accommodations were super clean and the staff were excellent. There's not much in the area, so we ate at the on-site restaurant for dinner. While the meal was quite tasty, the options were a bit limited and the service took quite a long time. We're normally used to the pace of service, but it seemed extra \"relaxed\" at this particular location. It didn't ruin our stay by any means; just be aware from a patience standpoint.

1. First and foremost very old property . Curtains are not covering the sun lights and barely they covered . Sleeping at night was horrible

What a joy this hotel was after our journey along the Ring road. Nestled in a quiet spot next to the historic church; rests this lovely and serene hotel. The hotel reminds me of a modern nordic cabin, with beautifully designed rooms, modern baths, beds with luxe bedding and fabulous showers and amenities; plus an onsite restaurant with a delicious local menu. Book room 215, it was our favorite stay in Iceland.

I'm not necessarily a hotel person but this was an exceptional one. We were on the third floor above an area where you had to go outside briefly and that was a little weird, but that was the only oddity. Weather wasn't an issue so it wasn't a problem.

The food was terrific. We enjoyed a delicious dinner and from starters to dessert it was perfect. I think the beet soup was one of the best I have ever had.

Property sits adjacent to the black church and in the middle of a national park so there's plenty of hiking to do around it which is the reason we chose it. We hiked to one of the volcanoes which took about three and a half hours round trip but the view was amazing. You can also if you are brave go swimming or at least jump in the cold water. The sitting area is around the bar are also an added bonus and I would definitely make time to have a drink and take in the views.

What a gem! Great location off the beaten path with plenty of atmosphere and free parking. Our 2nd story room had great views to the volcano. Plenty of walkable paths nearby. Great restaurant with a decent breakfast.

The location was terrific. However, the food at dinner was not good enough for the place and the price. Instead of a small menu that was aspiring to ( but not achieving) fine dining, the menu should consist of a greater choice of good and well prepared bistro level food.
It would be great to add a spa (sauna, hot tub etc) as an amenity to the hotel.

I stayed at Hótel Búðir as a solo traveller and absolutely loved my experience. The room was incredibly cozy, with partial ocean views and beautiful views of the glacier. The staff were welcoming and helpful throughout my stay, and both the bar and restaurant were fantastic — the food was amazing. The grounds themselves are gorgeous, and the view from the beach was absolutely breathtaking. Such a peaceful and memorable place to stay while exploring Snæfellsnes.

Beautiful quiet setting. The views were amazing. Proximity to the black church and Bjarnarfoss waterfall was a bonus. In April, we saw seals outside our window and enjoyed excellent craft cocktails from the bar. I recommend staying here one night and dining at the hotel. Then go explore Snæfellsnes Peninsula and stay in Grundarfjörður next.

Quite discouraging that the hotel staff prioritized staff convenience over the guests experience. This property uses old-fashioned keys, hence it was obvious that virtually all of the third floor was vacant. But the rooms with the views were not offered. Quite disappointing.

While we were excited to be in Iceland to take in the landscape and sights, Hotel Budir was a whole experience in itself. It’s absolutely beautiful reminding us of a high-end inn with that is warm and inviting. Every one of the staff members from reception to the bartenders, to the chef were kind and drinks and food were nothing short of 5 star. The outside was just majestic with views of the sea and mountains. We only stayed here 2 nights, celebrating our 10 yr anniversary. But my husband kept saying how perfect everything was and I couldn’t have agreed more! We can’t see us returning to Iceland and not coming back to hotel Budir.

Check in was very easy . It took perhaps 2 minutes! The receptionist was knowledgeable and appeared to be able to speak several languages. There is a beautiful view from the sitting areas near the bar. We took advantage of this and had some wine and enjoyed the view of the ocean, seals, mountains and waterfalls. The room was spacious. Bathroom was clean. The electrical outlets were a little difficult to get at. One outlet was located near the desk next to the windows, and I used this outlet to charge all my devices. I did not see any USB outlets so you will need to bring the appropriate chargers and cables for your devices. Some of the baseboard was missing, but this certainly was not a deal breaker. Definitely a romantic air to this hotel and surrounding countryside. Staff are wonderful, and appear to have varying backgrounds. It's a nice international flavor.
The wifi is pretty decent. I did hear one guest complain about the reception. I did measure their wifi reception as follows: Upload and download 45 MBPS in my room and in lobby and bar. It dropped to 5 MBPS in the first floor dining room. I still had decent reception about 10 feet outside the front entrance.
I think the advantage of this hotel is that it places you nearer to the National Park and surrounding areas. If you were to drive from Reykjavik and explore the area as a one day trip you wouldn't be able to enjoy the area and would be pressed for time.

This property is amazing, hands down our favorite hotel of the trip. The restaurant was not only delicious but so kindly accommodating of allergies - be sure to give them at least a day's notice though. All the public spaces are so cozy and welcoming. Our third floor room did get a bit stuffy in unseasonably warm weather, with one window that didn't open much, but they allowed us to move to a room with much more airflow. A minor complaint in an otherwise perfect stay. We not only would come back, but will make the effort to come back and stay here again.

While the site, scenery and quiet are pluses this is NOT a resort or luxury hotel. If you want peace and quiet, walking paths and spectacular scenery in a beautiful area of Iceland and don’t mind having only one option for dining, small weirdly appointed rooms, a closet sized bathroom and no hot tub, sauna or other facilities you might be ok. Very expensive dinner which was only ok (over cooked filounder was the low point of a small manu. A final negative was a $35 charge for a marginal buffet breakfast. A big disappointment dying an otherwise amazing 10 day trip in Iceland.

Our room’s shower was really weird, it had an odd ledge that caused difficulty in showering. Also, we had to go through several doors and a corridor to get to our room. This was tricky with luggage.

This was a lovely hotel- very expensive- however: One of our 4 rooms was a studio with a ridiculously small shower that was smaller than a cruise ship shower and upon checking out we realized the bill was wrong- they said there was a happy hour but when we checked out the prices weren’t 40% off after all.
No apology or “how can make that right for you?” Or let us deduct the first few drinks or anything to make up for the errors.
Toilet paper was rough and the toilets/showers on the floors above flushed right near our heads and were loud. Certainly not $500 a night caliber in our minds.

Many thanks for another wonderful stay at Hotel Buðir. Best location on the Snaefellsnes peninsula, spectacular views in every direction. Rooms are comfortable and well appointed with amazing views from every window. Either you're facing the mountains or the sea, or both. Best part - Hotel Buðir has the best bed linen and pillows of any hotel I've visited to date. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and professional. They went out of their way to ensure I had the best possible experience.

Most importantly, the restaurant. The restaurant at Hotel Buðir is legendary for good reason. The menu showcases seasonal Icelandic cuisine, it is paired fown to the essentials. They offer both à la carte, and tasting menu (3 or 5 course). IMHO, the cuisine at Buðir is on par with any Michelin starred restaurant. The dinning room service is efficient, attentive and well informed. Don't miss the breakfast buffet, well curated- nobody goes hungry.

Looking forward to my next adventure at Hotel Buðir.

I think this hotel is massively overrated. The food was average, and breakfast was low end and very expensive. The immediate grounds around the hotel are shabby and in disrepair. Our “superior” room lokked out over the trash dumpster and construction garbage. Active hammering and sawing woke us up at 7 am. I would never stay there again.

Fantastic location, rooms and atmosphere. Nicely refurbished and really nice rooms. The only minus was that our dining experience was not up to the standard that the rest of the hotel represented. 3 of us had the fish and it was dry and overcooked. One of us had the lamb and it was mostly fat. When we told the waitress, she shrugged her shoulders and offered us an extra napkin… I would stay here again, but I would plan dinner somewhere else.

I had visited Iceland 10 years ago and stopped here but it was booked for a wedding. Glad to be able to stay. The location is beautiful and a 10 minute stroll to the beach. We stayed in the newer section and it was lovely and pampering. Food was excellent and there are plenty of gathering spaces. Definitely recommend it.

We were looking forward to this stay but it didn’t live up to expectation. A beautiful setting and sitting to have drinks in the bar overlooking the seals was idyllic.

Cons were:
Limited evening food menu, not everyone wants to sit and eat a fine dining meal with only 4 mains options, no flexibility to order from the more relaxed lunch me menu.

Reception staff not the most welcoming, polite enough, but a bit abrupt.

Perfect place to watch the stars from, even if you have to hide behind the little church to get away from the hotel lights - it would be nice if they turned off their outside lights when the aurora is on display. Where do I start! Every detail of this hotel made such an impression on me and my husband. It is perfect in every way. The staff was wonderful, the dining was such a highlight (best drinks in all of Iceland - and we travelled far and wide), the room… INCREDIBLE! There was a magic to the experience that I simply cannot describe. In the morning, while I let my husband sleep in, I walked to the shore, watched a few harbor seals play, wandered along the sheep paths, and just enjoyed the beauty of the area. We cannot wait to return to stay here!

Really nice boutique hotel near Barnafoss in the Snaefelness Peninsula. Stayed in a loft room. Fairly small and the tub/shower is very poorly designed. Half the tub has a raised platform intended to be a seat, but it is difficult to shower in just one half and exit. I would not recommend this room to anyone that has difficulty with balance.

It has one restaurant with a very limited menu. If you’re here multiple days you should find somewhere else to eat at night for variety and cost.

The bar is nice and has great views and a good selection of whiskey and gin. Again both are expensive as you’ll find throughout Iceland. Service was about average here.

This property is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. It is located in a majestic setting with many open common spaces on the ground floor to sit and read or have a drink with floor to ceiling windows and glacier topped mountains and lava fields as your background. BUT the room (loft room) needs updating. Bathroom poorly designed. And the room and bedding smelled very musty. There is a skylight but no window to open and air it out. The dinner option is very expensive with very small portions. The breakfast on the other hand was amazing - best I had in Iceland.
