The location is serene and beautiful. I was welcomed warmly and given a brief tour. There's a restaurant on site that served a 4 course pre-selected menu that was generous, delicious, and comprised of local fresh caught ingredients. Very quiet room with a window to listen to the ocean. Breakfast was cozy the next morning and checkout was very easy. Just past Ytri Tunga, this is a perfect evening stay after exploring the upper peninsula.

This is a great place to stay if you are looking to be away from city lights so you can try to see the Northern Lights. We were fortunate they were visible on our night here and it was a highlight of our trip. The staff is friendly, but they are not available at all times. Our shower was stopped up, but there is no staff late at night so we had to wait until morning for it to be fixed. They took care of it right away then, so it's just a matter of expectations. Overall, I would stay here again.

Buffet dinner was very delicious Icelandic fare: lamb meatballs, curried halibut, trout poke Asian style, pickled red cabbage, home made rye bread, pickled beet root and fish soup.
Ask for the “new” rooms in the addition. They have new bathrooms and balconies with views of the ocean and waterfalls. Great location on the peninsula for day trips. Helpful staff.

This is a beautiful property in the sense it is comfortingly decorated and the hospitality of the staff is lovely. You can walk to the ocean. The breakfast was lovely. The dinner buffet specializes in fresh and local fish, which we didn't realize when we booked, and which is not a favourite of our group. The rooms are renovated but small. As a group of 3 adults we were quite cramped in our unit.

Great stay in the Snaefellsnes Peninsula

Comfortable stay with a wonderful view in a region that has few options for hotels! Hotel Langaholt was just what we needed after a long day on the road sightseeing. We stayed in the last room on the downstairs floor that overlooked the golf course- it was large with windows on 2 sides, lots of natural light, with a great view! The blackout curtains helped us sleep well. The breakfast was great. If you are a light sleeper be sure to ask for a room away from an exit door.

A Must-Stay Hotel In Iceland!!!

The Langaholt is in a spectacular location and run by a wonderful team. Excellent people and the new wings of the hotel are very comfortable. The food was fine, not great, but in the end they want why we were there. One of our favorite spots.

Before I get into the review, I want to note that I’ve seen how the property has responded to other guests’ concerns, often blaming guests for selecting rooms on the older, unrenovated side. I want to be clear that when I booked, there was no indication on the website that I would be placed in such a basic room—and it truly stopped my family and me in our tracks when we opened the door. It was extremely underwhelming.

Pros: 1) Beautiful grounds overlooking the water and a golf course, 2) Great for birdwatchers—arctic terns everywhere!, and 3) Easy check-in and friendly front desk staff.

Cons: 1) Room was extremely barebones—just beds and sheets, with no additional comforts 2) Only shampoo provided in the bathroom, and the bathroom floor became dangerously slippery after a shower, 3) No TV in the room, and the TV in the shared lounge had no sound (appeared to be set to an ambient visual display only), and 4) Dinner was too expensive for us to consider, and while breakfast had some homemade touches (like jellies and fish), we didn’t find much that was appetizing

Final thoughts: Yes, we know Iceland is expensive—we budgeted for that. But this property felt overpriced for what we got. If all you need is a bed and you plan to spend all your time outside, this place may work for you. But I wouldn’t recommend it to friends or family who are looking for any comfort, beauty, or value in the room itself.

The majority of the hotel is quite old with old bathrooms. In the photos on Expedia nearly every photo is of a smaller new addition to the hotel. Given that most rooms are in the older building, the odds are your room will also be in the older section. This set up - posting of newer rooms but getting a different/older room once you show up wasn’t unique for us on our trip to Iceland. After this stay, on reading additional reviews for other properties, this doesn’t seem to be unique. It seems like other hotel/rental properties in Iceland are taking advantage of tourists who will be visiting one time and often for a single night. They post photos of rooms that do not represent the room you will get. I encourage you to look at every photo of the property and read the 1 star reviews to be prepared for what you may encounter.

There is an older section and newer section. The older section is \"basic\" as advertised. I stayed in the older \"basic\" section (my mistake) and would not recommend it. It is run down, the bathroom has no separation between sink and shower, furniture was damaged, heat did not work, old crinkled print as art work, make-shift desk, minimal space, no black-out shades, etc. I should note, the newer section of the hotel does look very nice.

Clean room. Tea and coffee was available 24 hours in the main dining area but just to have tea in your room early morning without having to dress decently would have been nice. The buffet dinner was very good, lots of variety of good. Get a taste of all Icelandic food.

This property is 4mins to ytri tunga very cute aesthetically and has free parking which if you're in Iceland is very important.. my stay got upgraded so I got a nicer room that had its own balcony with a view of the ocean... they have breakfast included.. you can pay for dinner separately which is a buffet style I wasn't going to be around during their dinner times so I declined but when I came back to the hotel there was still food out and it looked really good kind of wishing I got to have some LOL

The evening buffet was excellent with tremendous variety with several different (for me) foods that I really enjoyed. The hotel was lovely and quaint with actual keys for your room instead of keycards. The insulation isn't the best as we kept hearing movement in the hallways throughout the evening. If you were in the area for during the season for the northern lights, this hotel would make a great place as the surrounding areas were completely dark without any street lamps. The included breakfast was a cold spread. Dinner was buffet style with a lot of fish dishes, soups, sides, etc. The homemade rye bread is lovely and I think I ate 4 slices in a single sitting.

We were greeted by Philip, a wonderful member of their staff. We spent two days at Langaholt touring the Peninsula, sea kayaking, and driving through 30 mile an hour winds and rain. It was awesome, and we would do it all over again. The accommodations were very adequate and the food was fabulous.

Rooms were very clean with a great view. Needs to be updated. Our room was next to the common room which was very loud late into the night. Wifi was very weak and there was not a tv in the room. The rooms are clean, but fairly basic.

The area in which it is located is devoid of restaurants and supermarkets. This in fact forces guests to dine in the hotel restaurant. On our trip to Iceland we dined in disparate places, eating very good quality food, but we incurred the highest cost at this hotel. In our opinion, the products and dishes offered do not justify the high price, which is about 50 euros per person drinks. By the way, we had a plate of lamb goulash, which was very salty and then made us sick.

We had a fabulous view of the mountain, Snaefellsjokull, from our room. Our room was in the new addition to the hotel, but there were older sections that I cannot comment on, but our room was clean and roomy.

This hotel is known by Icelanders, too, as it has an all you can eat buffet supper that serves seasonal and traditional Icelandic foods, as well as other dishes. It was about $57 per person.

The best part for me was the fact there is very little light pollution and wide open spaces. The night we were there, we went out on the balcony and saw the northern lights.

There is a 9 hole golf course on the property and clubs for rent.

We were greeted with a smile. After we got our key she took us to show where the room was and took our reservation for dinner. She explained about how fresh dinner was and she was right. There were so many choices and it was all homemade and quite delicious. The room was small but it was perfect for the three adults in our group. Breakfast was included and it was a buffet that was just as delicious as dinner. It was raining and foggy while we were there but we could hear the waves crashing on the beach. Overall a very peaceful place which I would come to again if we return to Iceland. I will recommend to anyone who is coming to Iceland.

We decided to splash out a bit and have their buffet dinner on our second to last night in Iceland. It was outstanding!! Full of freshly caught fish, seafood and lamb dishes. We were surprised at the wide variety of items they presented and very impressed with the amazing flavours of all of the dishes we tried. Dinner with a view of a volcano, the ocean and a glacier cannot be beat. This is not to be missed! Staff at this hotel were lovely and really cared about our experience there. They should all be commended for their part in our great stay.

I loved my stay here. I stayed for 3 nights. The view from this hotel is breathtaking (see pictures in my review which I know do not do it justice, but I tried). I thought the service was great, the room was clean, and I would absolutely stay here again. I did their buffet dinner every night - I enjoyed it. I thought the mussels were excellent, as were the different fish options, and the homemade bread. The people who work here obviously work very hard, and they truly seem to care that their guests are happy and have what they need. I thought it would have been great if there were benches outside of the room to enjoy the view (I ended up just standing outside every night enjoying the view). But honestly, I was fine standing. This hotel is near some great hiking and all of the points that I wanted to see in the area. Definitely recommend.

Hotel Langaholt was great! It was the perfect stay for a quiet and relaxed stop in our trip. The hotel offers dinner (about $50 USD) but other dining options are within a 30-minute drive as well. Breakfast in the morning is free and delicious! Parking is free and there is access to a beach from the hotel.

The hotel is set in possibly the most beautiful landscape I've ever seen. Mountains, ponds, fields, and the ocean, with the glacial mountain in the distance. The hotel was very comfortable and clean with simple rooms. Besides the gorgeous views, what was so special about the hotel was the delicious breakfast and the dinner buffet add-on. The food was delicious and plentiful with interesting variety. The cuisine was rustic and authentic with many Icelandic dishes and fresh seafood and lamb (as well as veg options). What made all this possible was the wonderful, friendly and hard-working staff especially the manager who was so thoughtful and considerate. We saw him doing everything from check-in to waiting tables to washing dishes- he was constantly moving but always good natured. Speaking of nature, there is a path to the ocean by the hotel and it was lovely to walk on the beach. A wonderful place!

After a day of driving through mountains, you don't want to go out again to eat. But the area around was beautiful and we walked a bit to the beach and back. Breakfast buffet was ok and it was free.

This property was located well for a one-night stopover as we traveled the peninsula. It was safe, quiet, and clean. Breakfast was really good. For the price, this is a great value.
