My friends and spent 10 nights in Iceland and this was honestly the only unpleasant stay. The bathroom was not clean — there was visibly hair from previous guests on the wall in the shower. The dining table and kitchen countertops also had to be wiped down. The host was also unkind to deal with, with was disappointing. Though the view is beautiful and the beds were fine, it was overall not an accommodation I’d recommend.

Mountains on one side and ocean on the other. It was a beautiful location. We enjoyed our room very much. Staff was friendly and helpful. The only thing to note was the trash was small in the room and the kitchen. But we just brought our own shopping bag for trash and threw it out elsewhere. The kitchen is very small if there are a few people wanting to cook or do dishes. But everyone was very kind and we all worked around each other. You definitely need to prepare to be at least 30 + minutes from grocery, pharmacy and such so plan accordingly. Great location to explore the peninsula.

We stayed only one night but found our little cabin to be quaint and quite comfortable. We found all that we needed although the bathroom was small and we would have appreciated more lighting in there.
We loved the location and surrounding area of the mountains and a view of the water. We also got to see the Northern Lights. One of our favorite stays while in Iceland.

This was a great place to stay. We were in one of the little cottages and we loved it. The bed was very comfortable and this was very peaceful. There are other options on the property with one including a hot tub out your back door. We would 100% stay here again. Plus, it was very affordable.

Location was great! Just a few people staying there in October. 3 large windows face a flat beach with an ocean view. Unfortunately, 2 of the windows have condensation inside/ broken seal. Front and back porches. We saw a beautiful sunset and 2 nights of awesome aurora viewing!! There was a hot tub, but we didn't use it.
This place is not for those with high standards. Everything is old and worn out. Very minimal furnishings. From the 90's TV (that didn't work anyway) to the threadbare dish clothes, and sad arrangement of miscellaneous mugs and cups, this place could use a facelift. Maybe spend a few bucks at the thrift store and get some 'new' dishware and towels.
Never saw any staff. Retrieved the keys from a box and returned them. Easy enough. We did enjoy our stay and the Snaefellsnes Penisula.

I would NOT recommend ever staying at this place. Bathroom was fifthly, stained curtains, missing kitchen cabinet doors, dirty stove. The only seating provided were stacking chairs. Nothing like what is pictured. When I told the staff that we were extremely disappointed with the room and could we move to a different space - their response was \"That is what you booked\" .
Sign posed in the kitchen if you do not put you dishes away you will be charged 80euros

We stay at the property for one night. The room is clean with free parking in front of the cabin. The property is situated in a nice area with both sea and mountain View. The stand alone kitchen has everything you need to prepare a simple meal if needed and it is the only area on the property with WIFI. We recommend it.

A subpar place for us to stay on our Icelandic journey. Check-in was prompt, however, extra charges may apply if you check-in late. Upon arrival to our cabin, floors were dirty, linens were subpar and top cover on bed was visibly dirty. No hand towel in the bathroom and no soap in the hand sink dispenser. Hooks and hanging is very limited so if you have wet clothes, good luck drying them out.
Our shower drain couldn’t keep up with water flow and almost overflowed. I called our host and she came with a plunger to diagnose the situation. The remedy was to remove the drain plug completely (covered in hair) and less than appealing to take a shower with at the basin. The water still drianed slow (stood in water while showering) and it appeared that we inconvenienced our host; no apology from her for the situation.
The cabin is worn and the overall atmosphere was barren.
This property has great potential but needs a little TLC.

If I could give negative stars, I would. This place is completely derelict with very rude, unprofessional proprietors. Our shower had such a terrible leak, the entire bathroom flooded. The desk attendant (the only nice person on the property) cleaned up & brought the owner to fix the leak. It didn't work, so they came back again, promising it was resolved. A very quick shower and the floor is again flooded. At this point, its after 9pm, we went back to registration to ask for a refund. The owner agrued with us, saying we were lying and we could not get our money back. He was rude, argumentative, and extremely unprofessional. This is the worst experience of any hotel, hostel, vrbo, etc. Avoid this calamity of a guest house at all costs.

Laila heated up the big hot tub prior to our arrival which was for our personal use. We were able to reserve breakfast, so had a nice meal before heading out to explore.

Staff was very nice. The location is incredible. The cottage was very tight. We killed 2 (pretty big, about the size of a dime) spiders. It’s a wooden cottage, so plenty of hiding places. Very comfortable bed. Easy check-in/out. The communal kitchen was great.

WOW! what an amazing stay at Guesthouse Hof. This is the most ideal bed and breakfast tucked away in a secluded area of the Snaefellsness Peninsula. Located in an absolutely stunning area with a 360 view of the mountains and a black sand beach that is truly unforgettable. Not to mention the hospitality was exceptional by the staff. Special thanks to Lyla and Apolline for taking the time to talk to a lonely solo traveller, it really made my day during a long trip. This place is extremely accommodating and created a memory for me that i will never forget!

This place was in the middle of nowhere (so make sure you bring food to eat for your meals); however, it was magical. The view from our room was magnificent and there was a hot tub that we sat in while we enjoyed the views. There was no soap or shampoo so bring that too but the kitchen was well equipped. I would definitely stay here again. The room was spacious and clean and the beds were comfortable. Definitely need a car to get here.

The proprietor was extremely responsive - I emailed to say we were going to be late for regular check in and she emailed right back and gave me the directions for late check in. The cabin was nice - clean and had everything we needed. Only downside was in the morning when the other side of the cabin woke up - we could hear everything!

The shower did not drain and the floor was flooded with an electric heater on the floor. It could have been electrocuted. I had to leave with shampoo in my hair after about being scaled trying to adjust the water temperature in the shower. When I got there the heaters were both on. It was a hot day. The cabins are in the sun, no shade. You could have cooked a cake in the cabin it was so hot. The window only opened just a crack. So I left until it cooled down. Stayed long enough to sleep, get up early to a flooded floor and not able to rinse out shampoo. Had to leave with with wet hair with shampoo in it. If you stay there, do not use the shower.

If you visit the Snaefellsnes Peninsula, know that you have to backtrack some miles to stay overnight at this place.

It is clean & quiet, with almost no other facilities around. Be sure to buy groceries beforehand. Only a couple of restaurants within 5 miles, both closing pretty early even in the summer time.

We stayed here in the Spring of 2023 and it was a very bad experience. No one was around to check us in and the wifi was down the entire time we were there. Our cabin was nice (though tiny), but cold -- the structure was not wind proof and had gaps in the windows and structure itself that made it impossible for the heater to keep up. There were water stains from where the rain had been driven through the walls, it was so poorly insulated.

ALSO do NOT step out of line or make a mistake or YOU WILL BE FINED.

Check in late? FINED
Don't clean up your dishes? FINED
Check out late? FINED

And so on. The fines were egregious and obnoxious and spanned just about anything you could possibly do. I'd like to issue a fines for the lack of service we received. :|

Sidenote: Go see Ytri Tunga, which is basically next door. There were plenty of seals just hanging out next to the shore.

Very nice quiet area. Spacious and plenty of room for family. Good area to start touring Snaefellsnes peninsula although its far from places to eat, which is ok since we knew that and were prepared for it. Easy check-in: key and note left near reception area. Clean bedrooms, kitchen, and living room area. Nice view of beach.
Only 2 things we didnt like:
We were 4 persons and were only given 2 towels for shower, but the reception advised us that they left early so we had no way to get 2 more.
Also Shower had moldy areas, needs to be bleached.

We stayed here for 2 nights ( in an apartment room with kitchen and 3 bedrooms). We were 3 adults. I was expecting simple clean accommodations and would have been fine with such. Accommodations were very simple. Bathroom was not clean; we found multiple hairs on floor upon arrival. Had trouble getting cold water to work in kitchen. No toilet paper. There was a random blinking red light. Location was convenient- 30 minutes or so from all the things we wanted to do. Communication was good and check in was easy.

We stayed in a cabin. It is really small but perfect if you just go there to sleep. No hair dryer, it was freezing cold, even with the radiators turned on. No staff on property, we had to pick up our keys in a box outside. For cleanliness, it was ok but the shower was moldy and the water didn’t drain.
If you travel to that area,
Please know in advance that eating options are very limited so plan a trip to the grocery store in borgarness before heading to the peninsula.

Lovely cabin in a very serene area

A lovely small cabin overlooking the sea was what we wanted. There was a kitchen that you could use and wifi was available in this room. Be aware that there are two places within a 15 minute drive where you can eat, one which is a buffet which cost approximately £40 per person and closed at 9pm I believe, and another that closed around 7pm. The nearest supermarket was more than 30 minutes away and closed close to 6pm. With all this in mind - be prepared with food if you are going to get there late.

Unforgettable Amazing stay

It was amazing stay, This Snaefellsnes Peninsula area and just around 1 hours of driving closed to all attraction around Snaefellsnes Peninsula & Kirkjufell Mountain. This is amazing cottage. they serve breakfast ( paid ). Also they have the common kitchen with all necessary pots, Pan and plates, you can cook your own food. If you are in winter you easily see the Northern lights.

We were absolutely thrilled to get here and discover we had a private hot tub! While the property definitely needed updating, everything was clean and nice. I would suggest new towels to make the stay a bit nicer. We appreciated the ample amount of hooks for hanging wet towels and bathing suits though. Make sure you bring food for breakfast and snacking bc there is nothing much around here! It's very convenient to ring road though.

I really liked the location of Hof, it is an excellent base for exploring Snæfellsnes Peninsula. The cabins are small, but they have a private bathroom and a kettle.
On the negative side, the shared kitchen was pretty small and impossible to use when more than one person was making food. Garbage was always overflowing with all the guests using the kitchen, it really should've been emptied more often. The room had a couple of problems too: the beds were pretty narrow and not very comfortable and the shower leaked all over the floor. Garbage in the room was never emptied either.

Beautiful remote location with view of ocean and mountains, comfortable cozy cabins (with Icelandic turf roofs!) with private bathrooms. Note that wifi is only available in the common kitchen in a separate cabin and check-in time is 3p-8p, with a fee for late checkin: hosts are very prompt about letting you know shortly after reservation of this. Be sure to ask for wifi password when you check in! Overall would stay again.

The cabins are very cute and have a nice view as well! The bed was very comfortable and the check in/check out process was simple.
