What could be improved is the flexibility shown in exceptional circumstances. We were unable to reach the cottage due to a snowstorm, and a partial refund would have been a reasonable gesture of goodwill. Policies serve their purpose from a business standpoint, but an occasional act of understanding goes a long way in building lasting customer loyalty

Ive stayed in better

It was fine, bed was comfortable but the room was very bare bones, only one pillow, hot water only lasted 3-5min, felt like a $75 cabin you would rent in an american state park but they charged you $300 + a night. Ive stayed in better hotels in iceland that make more sense value to cost. Theres no view no skylite the big window you see just faces other cotages.

The surrounding area is beautiful and the cottage was cozy. Staff was also very friendly. My only complaint is that we didn’t find out until entering our unit and seeing a sign on the bathroom that they don’t get much hot water. The sign says to use hot water sparingly. I made sure to get all the way in the shower before turning the water on given the warning. The warm water didn’t even last 2minutes before turning ice cold. Overall we enjoyed our stay, but given the winter conditions we would have loved a hot shower.

We loved our cottage! It was so comfortable and clean and had just the amenities we needed, black out drapes, a nice shower, hot pot and refrigerator. Coffee and tea too! We walked a few feet over to the pizza restaurant which was fantastic and had pizza and some fish and chips( delicious) almond with a cold Icelandic beer. The arctic turns were nesting and quite aggressively defending there territory which made it charming. Wear a hat and wave your arms to ward them off if you come this time of year. They were harmless and it was fun to see.

Very spacious cottages with a large bathroom and fridge, microwave and kettle. We would have, however, appreciated a couple of plates and cutlery to go with the microwave. WiFi is very intermittent in the cottages. Breakfast is good but very expensive (even for Icelandic standards). Stappin Cafe & Restaurant across from the main restaurant has some lovely food in the evening, can recommend. If you go in the summer, be prepared to run the gauntlet with the birds who are defending their young. This is pretty much all over Iceland, not just unique to this part.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Lovely place to stay. A bit remote, in terms of there being no grocery stores or any other amenities close by other than those associated with Arnarstapi Hotel - but the restaurant was excellent. Be prepared to plan ahead for any other needs.

Nice set up with multiple cottages on one side of the road (further from the water) and the hotel on the other side (closer to the water). If view is important to you, then the hotel might have better access to water view as some of the cottages probably look at the buildings of the hotel. Luckily my cottage was at the end so I had a good view of water from my window.

Check in is at the Arnarstapi Center (where the restaurant is) and that’s also where you park your car. It’s a short 1-2 min walk to your cottage. But you can drive up to your cottage to unload luggage before parking your car.

The inside is basic but lights were functional. Kettle, microwave, and mini fridge. Would be nice if they provided basic utensils and plates.

I had no problems with wifi as some others have had. It is true there is limited hot water (~5 min) but my partner and I just showered 1 hour apart at the end of the night. Both had hot water and with the expectation it would be short lived.

It’s nearby to the trail by the waterfront including the stone bridge which was pretty. I would stay here again if I drove into the peninsula.

Checking time 16.00 not very good. We got there for 13.00 and we have to wait 3 hrs. And there is nothing to do in the area. Check in is done by code sent to you. There is no personal contact other than poor guy in the restaurant trying do everything. Next morning we cheched out 10.00 am . We were still in the car park and they cleaned the room. You pay lot of money and breakfast not included. We were disappointed

Modern cottage. But obviously build in a bird breeding habitat and the view wasn’t mountains view at all. All the cottages windows are sighted to the street. The wonderful surrounding landscape was in the back. It was clean but there was not love for details at all. Seemed nor like a concept thought through.

Arnastapi Cottages is an excellent base of operations for exploring the Snaefellsnes Peninsula. The cottages are small but nicely appointed and you’re not there to linger in your room anyway. The setting couldn’t be more spectacular, with all sorts of interesting things to see within easy walking distance. The restaurant is perfectly adequate and it’s staff, very friendly.

A little expensive for such a remote area

Due to the pandemic, they had a lock box attached to the cottage which allowed me get the key without interacting with anyone. I couldn't find any way to control the heat in the cottage and it was a very chilly day with rain the entire day. My solution was to lay under the duvet and try to get warm.

When I went to have breakfast in the morning, the waitress/hostess told me I hadn't signed up and and I don't remember if it was part of the package or not. Her English was a little bit hard to understand.

I knew Iceland was expensive but the asking price was higher than I paid in some more populated regions and I was a little surprised at that.

There was parking right in front of my cottage. It was something to be grateful for since I didn't have to go far to get things out of my car.

The property itself is acceptable. However the confirmation email has never been received. Without check in details and without a reception, it was very troublesome upon arrival. When being called, the staff repeatedly asked me to “read it carefully” on the confirmation email, which I had never received. How am I able to “read” it ! The staff was not helpful at all and impolite.

Unfortunately had a very bad experience with the Arnarstapi Cottages. The hot water worked for 1 minute and then ceased working. We waited to see if the water would turn hot but it never did. When we talked to the one and only staff member present they only provided us with an email to let the manager know. When emailed the manager replied that it was our fault and we should have waited longer than the 30 minutes we waited in between showers for the water to heat up. They took no responsibility for a faulty shower and gave no discounted rate for our stay. When you pay $175 you expect hot water and if for some reason it doesn’t work you would expect the hotel to take responsibility and apologize and offer some form of discount. But all the manger would say is that it was our fault and we needed to wait longer. Very disappointing. With this type of response I would not recommend staying here for any reason. Plenty of other options in the area.

The cottages were so cute! They looked new. They were small and cozy and had a big window/ sliding door in the front but provided enough privacy with blackout curtains. They even included a front porch with chairs. The cottages are associated with the hotel whose reception includes a bar and dining room with breakfast, lunch, and dinner options.

We loved almost everything about this property! It was such a cute tiny cottage located in a fantastic area; lots of nature walks and beautiful scenery. However, for the cottage, it would have been nice to have a small stovetop and some dishes. Other than that it was fantastic!

Upon checking in, place was tidy and ready but we soon realized the place was dusty and the couch might be dirty (or with mites) as we were itchy after sitting there for a while. Place was quite small but the bathroom was adequate and had toiletries. We appreciate the fridge and microwave so we could store and reheat our food. Checkout was easy too.

View and architecture of the cottages were good but maybe only for 1 night stay because it was cramped. No space for luggage.

Great for a night

This hotel was the last one we stayed in during our road trip around the country. It was for one night at the end of October. Overall it was very comfortable, clean, and the location in Arnarstapi was great. And although it got most of the basics right, there are a few areas of improvement, which is why I gave it a 4 star rating instead of 5. These include:
1. the rooms have small water heaters, so you only have about 10 minutes of hot water for a shower before waiting for it to refill. Keep that in mind if you’re a couple staying in a single cottage.
2. There is no radiator in the bathroom so it got cold in there during the evenings.
3. The path from the parking lot where you have to leave your car to the cottages (ours was the furthest one) is long and uneven dirt making it a bit of a challenge to lug luggage to and from the car.
4. There wasn’t proper shampoo/soap in the shower as would have been expected for a spot at this price point.

Despite all that, I highly recommend this hotel.

Very nice cottages to stay in. Look just like the pictures. Cottage had a queen sized bed, private bath, couch, refrigerator, microwave, and an electric kettle (with instant coffee and tea). Included breakfast was quite good. A couple restaurants within walking distance.

Only potential downsides are you cannot park next to the cottage, you have to park in a parking lot and bring your bags to the cottage; however, they will allow you to drive up to the cottage to drop off bags and then need to return to the lot to park. Also, hot water only lasts about 15 minutes but they do warn you about that.

Comfortable and clean, our private 'cottage' (a perhaps generous title) was a short walk to the main building/restaurant. Some may bemoan the lack of facilities, but given the natural riches of Snaefellness (we spent 8-10 hours each day 'out and about'), what more do you really need than a warm, comfortable bed and a good shower.

The Cottage was comfortable and a different experience overall. Cars are prohibited to enter the area where the cottages are. We stayed close to the carpark so didn't have to carry our luggages too far. So imagine if you are staying in the last cottage? The walkway access to the cottages could be improved. Overall, the stay was a good experience.

We stayed at the cottages after passing through the Snæfellsnes peninsula. The cottage was very clean, comfortable, and quiet. We didn’t eat at the hotel (we opted for dinner at Hotel Budir) but the restaurant area also appeared very new & well kept. We would absolutely stay here again.

We loved Arnarstapi Cottages! We were in #1 with an incredible view! This was a unique experience staying in a stand alone cottage and we loved it! Check in was smooth, the cottage is modern, stylish and clean. Their restaurant was also excellent. The entire area near the cottages is breathtaking and just outside your cottage is a walking trail along the coast. I would highly recommend Arnastapi Cottages if you travel to this area of Iceland. We would love to go back and would most definitely stay there again!
