We love the location. A good place to slow down a bit with our road trip. Stroll around the area and do some activities as well. Our only disappointment was that there were dead flies in our room when we check in. Housekeeping might have missed it?

This hotel is right on the ocean and a great walkway with fantastic sights. There is a restaurant attached and a few others across the street (but might not be open). Advice: Bring food/snacks with you because of limited shops and restaurants. The hotel looks like container pods. Ours had four separate rooms. Our room was spacious and comfortable. The shower is heated via solar, so there is limited hot water. The wifi was great as was TV reception. The bed was basic with one pillow each. No washcloths. This was a perfectly adequate and comfortable place to stay for one night.

Our triple room was clean, comfortable, a standard hotel room for 3 people. Mini fridge, coffee/tea supplied. Shower was excellent. Housekeeping staff friendly and helpful. The only amenities the hotel has is a restaurant. The service was not great. Food dropped off then didn’t return to table. Food very sub par and every order was messed up in one way or another. Ordered fish and chips, fish raw and cold inside. Location was good for base. Other eating choices nearby.

You can't beat the location - perfectly situated allowing direct access to walk the cliff tops and view the beauty of the Icelandic coast below and a good point to split the trip if seeing the West end. The room was nice enough and the huge window facing the sea was nice but it would be have been better if the adjoining restaurant shut off their rear exterior lights so you could appreciate the view at night. The restaurant experience wasn't great - found the staff cold and the food bland but options are limited out there. Overall the hotel was a good place and recommended.

Hotel is next to the shore so if it's a nice day, you can walk and the view will be amazing but if it's raining, have in mind that the walk to your room is open space (no roof). Btw, the apple map drives you further, the hotel reception is at the restaurant.

We had a room with a view of the ocean which was wonderful. The area is incredibly small with limited options to eat, but there are a few walkable places. We had desert at the restaurant at the hotel. We were there on an incredibly windy night. Thr wind was so strong in sounded like it would blow the door open. There's not a lot of parking near the rooms. We had no hot water which was terrible. There are even signs in the room that says they are in a cold area and hot water is limited. Our hot water with non existent. The heat in the room was also very poor, we were cold when we slept. We didn't see anyway to adjust the heat. Other than that the room was comfortable and looked very nice. The stools for night stands are a little odd.

It would have been a much better stay if the hot water and heat had been working. I mentioned the water to the front desk and they offered me hot coffee.

This was the best hotel in our entire stay in Iceland.
The little wooden building with our room was kind of rudimental simplistic from the outside but very nicely equipped and comfortable. The view from the large floor to ceiling window was astonishingly beautiful. The restaurant was also nice, and they served good traditional Icelandic food too. I would recommend this hotel to any of my friends. I would like to go back sometimes hopefully in the near future. :)

No frills lodging option that was adequate on its own without unwelcoming staff. When we entered the reception area, we had a very cold and delayed check-in by staff who were more preoccupied with cleaning dishes than addressing their guests. It felt like we were a bother and verbal check-in instructions were unclear. The shower also had an all-in-one shampoo, conditioner and body wash. While satisfactory, this was not a standout.

This hotel is a little gem situated in a naturally beautiful part of Iceland. Walking distance from the hotel one finds themselves surrounded by the ocean, volcanic cliffs, birds, mountains and Waterfalls. Jump in the can and explore even more, and if you have a 4X4 take the F-Roads up toward the glacier and see the natural marvels this area offers. There is weather, so pack or wear protection against rain and wind — but this is Iceland, so you are proibably already equipped.

It was a nice room. We had a family room that had a king size bed and twin in one room and a twin bed in another room. Also had a small fridge, microwave, table and chairs, and small couch — best part was two bathrooms. The location was awesome, such beautiful shoreline and mountains. Only complaint is breakfast wasn’t included.

This was such a unique place to stay. The setting is incredible with a cliffside walk right outside. The room was quite small and no extra pillows or blankets, and it was really utilitarian but fine. The restaurant food was mediocre at best but I understand why it's so expensive because it's soooo rural. If you stay here keep in mind that there's not really anything around for over an hour. BUT, we saw a spectacular northern lights display around 8pm and it was absolutely one of the highlights of the trip so far. I'm not sure I'd drive that far out of the way to stay there again but it was memorable and unique so I'm glad we did.

We liked this hotel. It was very clean and comfy. Nice bed. We saw the aurora borealis just outside our room, that was amazing!
We didn't have the best experience with the breakfast. Eggs were gone and when we asked the lady about them she wasn't very nice about it.
Otherwise I believe they are a very good choice to stay around the area!

Very nice!

I recently stayed at this hotel and had a pleasant experience. The room was nice and had a good atmosphere. It was clean and modern, leaning more towards basic rather than chic. The location, though, was truly beautiful and perfect for witnessing the mesmerizing Aurora Borealis.

One thing to note is that the restaurant closes at 9 pm, so be sure to arrive before then or have some food with you, as there are no dining options nearby. Other than that, it's a great place for nature enthusiasts and Aurora chasers.

The location of this "hotel" is stunning. The beds were comfortable and the room was a good size and very quiet.

Our main problems were that the furnishings were very sparse and the bathroom floor was unsafe. I appreciate the sparse ascetic for furnishings at times; however, at this price point i would appreciate more than stools for bedside tables and two hard table chairs set next to a very low occasional table. Basically nowhere to sit to read except in a bed with no headboard and one small pillow.

For the unsafe bathroom floors, we had to set the trash can in the middle of the bathroom to avoid stepping in an area where the subfloor has collapsed under the vinyl because every time we stepped there not only did we feel like our feet were going to go through the floor but the vinyl would separate on the seam and pinch our feet.

I am not sure if units here are individually owned as some of them had lock boxes with keys? There really isnt a check-in as the reception/restaurant doesnt really know very much about the lodging.

There really isnt any other choice of lodging in area, but people should be aware of limitations, especially for the cost.

Avoid this hotel - lots of hair on bedsheets

I do not recommend this place. Lots of hairs on the bedsheets, and there was no internet. I picked all the hairs with tissues which was a very unpleasant experience. I decided to complain about the dirty bedsheets when I called the hotel (because there is no reception). They moved me to a different room, only to find the bed sheet was with lots of hairs again! I went back to the original room where I cleaned by myself. I had booked two nights but Devi to check out the next day asking for refund for one unused night. They refuse to give me the refund saying that I didn’t accept their “solution” of moving to a different room..and didn’t acknowledge that the other room had the same issue. Very unprofessional to not to take the responsibility for the uncleanliness of the room, and to ignore my complaint. Also note that good reviews are all from pre-pandemic time. I don’t know how the hotel used to be it is NOT a good place to stay now. Avoid this hotel!

Very nice large size rooms for the money and ours had seaside views. Some rooms will not but should have great views of the wonderfully peaked mountains. Everything in the room worked very well including the wifi. The bed was comfortable. Plenty of room to spread out for several day's stays. We did not partake in the attached restaurant.

I didn’t get close parking since so many tourists had parked in the parking lot to do the coastal walk or visit the restaurant, but it was still a walkable and flat path to my room. I checked in at the bar area, which confused me at first but the employee confirmed that it was also the check in desk. I did not eat at the restaurant while I was there but the offerings looked delicious. I also did not have breakfast there as it was not included in the stay price. It appeared to be a continental buffet breakfast. My room was quiet, spacious and very trendy. It included a mini fridge, water boiler, cups and coffee and tea sachets. The room had black out curtains and large windows with an excellent view of the mountain. The space heater did not really radiate heat more than 2 inches, so I stayed bundled up to keep warm. The towel warmer in the bathroom was a nice touch. I would stay here again for sure.

Property is located at a beautiful place with a lot of places to bird watch. Rooms were clean and property overall is well maintained. Prices are exorbitant though. Staff wasn’t the friendliest at the premises. Front desk was very condescending in her response to an elderly gentleman in front of us who complained that his bed wasn’t made the following day. Tv did not work and by the time they could coordinate to come it was not worth it. View where hotel is was poor especially if windows could have been on other side. Cheaper and nicer to stay in hellnar. Food choice are poor. All three restaurants on site have same food. Pizza fish and chips. Water does not get hot.

The hotel is in a nice location with their own restaurant on premises (though quite expensive - dinner buffet was 6900 ISK) as well as a food truck (selling fish n chips), small pizza restaurant and a bar type restaurant (with delicious fish n chips).
We stayed in a family suite which was clean, big and close to the main restaurant building. The only bummer of this place was the lack of view of the ocean. The planning of the buildings was a little strange and didn’t focus on the ocean view - but all you had to do was get a smaller suite with a view or step out of our suite and walk toward the sea.
Our suite had a microwave, small range, fridge and coffee maker. It was very nice.
One final perk, we traveled with our one year old and were able to put her in the second small bedroom and through the open wIFI watch her during both our dinners across the street. That was amazing as we’d never done that before but she was never more than 50m away :)

The Arnarstapi Hotel is a group of small buildings each containing a row of 4 or 5 bedrooms. The ocean front rooms have floor to ceiling windows and a terrific view. The hotel is modern, the small staff very friendly, and the food excellent. The location is beautiful. On the icy day of our visit, it was a three hour drive from Reykjavík.

Room had a very bad door when we checked in. It was similar to a rotting food smell. Very unpleasant to be in the room but too late to complain as staff had left. The breakfast also ends at 9:30AM however the sign posted in our room said 10AM so we missed it. Overall disappointing for the price.
