Good location and had a good nights sleep, however their food quality is very poor. I ate 3x breakfasts and 2x evening meals and each meal the quality was poor..your chef/ cook needs to be retrained on quality of taste and freshness of the products… everything tastes as if it’s been cooked previously then microwaved when needed, £12 cheese burger, that tasted like rubber, in a FF bun that was as tough as the burger.. breakfast was £9 precooked and overcooked.Staff try a meal yourselves and hopefully you will understand.
Freshness and quality of the food would put me off staying again. Trust me giving the customer a hearty meal at start or at the end of the day will bring you more custom.

Everything ok accept got a call from staff whilst on way home to say i may have to pay for an extra night. Im on medical oxygen and they said they couldnt let room until it qas collected. I asked for call back from hotel manager. Never heard from them to date. They didnt make charge to my knowledge. Lack of clarity. I tjink tjey should of moved rhe oxygen equiptment likenevery other hotel i stay in without comment. Spoiled a really nice stay to be fair.

The room was ok, a little tired perhaps.
There was no shower gel in the shower which I didn't find out until I was already naked and wet. - this was replaced when I told them but that didn't help the first shower.
The carpet had not been vacuumed or not done properly as there were what looked like peanuts by one side of the bed.
The evening meal first night we were only offered a burger and chips - it was basic but it was ok.
The breakfast was very poor, the food had been kept warm too long so the sausages, bacon, hash browns and black pudding were quite hard, the baked beans were dried up and stuck to the edge of the container and serving spoon, the scrambled egg was also quite dry.
We ate out the second night and when we returned to the hotel we were told there was no chef so no food that evening. Good job we had eaten out already.
2nd day breakfast we came down earlier thinking it may not be so dried up - we were wrong, if anything it was worse, the black pudding was so hard you could not get a fork into it.
The coffee was cold on both days, it seemed the percolator hot plate did not work.
All things pointed out to staff and on day one a fresh brew of coffee was put on and was hot, I didn't bother on day 2.
Drink prices at the bar to me were good, we come from the south east.
Staff we engaged with were always pleasant and as helpful as they could be.
Proximity to city centre was good, a short walk away and the price was reasonable, both of which were why we stayed here.

Bathroom floor in need of repair, loose raised tile, stopping door movement, no grout around the tiles. No soap left in the room by sink or shower, had to ask for some at reception. The room smelt of cigarette smoke. I was above the back door room 51, was woken at midnight by someone outside talking on their phone for an hour or so, others chatting before entering the hotel. Staff nice. Wifi ok not great signal.

On arrival we were greeted by a gentleman at reception, he offered us an upgrade for £15 per night to a room which he informed us was normally £120 per night with a king size bed and a spa bath. We paid for the upgrade, once in the room we realised that the “king size” bed was not king size at all but two singles pushed together, with a king size duvet cover but a double duvet inside it! Some of the jets in the bath did not work and the lighting in the bathroom was very dark. The tv took at least 10 mins to actually come on, we asked the receptionist how to get the tv to work and he just replied with “switch it on”. One of the cups in the room was not at all clean, neither was the spoon, we asked for some more sugar and coffee and were told by two different members of staff to check the wardrobe, however there wasn’t any in there.There were cobwebs all across one of the windows. for the most expensive room in the hotel it was one of the noisiest rooms facing the main road with no double glazing, and very big windows to have no net curtains up, it felt as though anyone in the houses opposite or walking past could see straight into the room

Don’t stay here, the room certainly wasn’t “superior” as advertised, was i poor condition and dirty ! The window latch was broken, reported and nothing done, bathroom was dirty, and loads of dust on lightshade above the bed and in all very dingy ? The bracket holding the TV on the wall was loose and in a dangerous situation and could have fell off at any time ! When I reported to reception on checking out the person on reception was quite rude and said “nothing to do with me I’m just the porter”?? Stood there for 15 minutes as he was trying to take payment via computer from my card, then another card and finally with a card machine with no success , he then just turned and put his coat on and disappeared leaving me in limbo as to what was going on ?? So just left and someone else phoned a couple of hours later very apologetic and took payment.
All in all not a good place to stay as far as I’m concerned, yes the reception was quite nice and well presented, tidy and clean, just a pity the rooms were not of a similar standard. Will not stay there again

The bathroom had a very strong and unplesant smell of raw sewage and our view was of a dumping ground of rubbish from neighbours.
We did not eat at the restaurant but thought the lack of guests may be an indication that the food may not be fresh.

Terrible Experience – Avoid This Property!
I had an extremely disappointing stay. A basic amenity like cold shower water was missing — completely unacceptable. What’s worse, the management team was unresponsive, and despite multiple attempts, Expedia couldn’t reach them either! If even Expedia can’t get in touch, that tells you everything about how poorly this place is run. Save yourself the frustration and book elsewhere if you value even the most basic comfort and reliable service.

My allergy was triggered by the strong smell of cigarette smoke in the room, which made for a terrible night. Unfortunately, airing out the smoke by opening the window didn’t help—it only let in loud street noise. If I knew that this hotel allows smoking in the rooms, I would never have stayed here. The pleasant side was the young lady at the reception, who was very helpful and understanding, which I truly appreciated.

Room had a bad odour immediately you came in. Obviously had not been aired as Window has been faulty for atleast a week however the property still chose to let room out to clients knowing fully well that they have not yet sorted out maintenance repairs.
Manager offered a piece of wood to allow window open and refused to change my room because according to him it was a \"cheap\" room.
I could not sleep all night due to the bad odour. Thankfully I had an early check out time.
Such a terrible waste of my money.

Unfortunately the hotel is quite run down, needs a huge overhaul. Just so much wrong with it, toilet didn’t work properly, struggled to flush it properly, shower temperature was incredibly difficult to change due to the knob being next to impossible to turn. A lot of dust in places, behind the radiators in particular, years of build up, curtains stained, damage to walls, windowsills, furniture… etc. There was literal hair all over the shower drain. Visible immediately without having to actually look for it. We could feel every spring in the mattress. Just overall, unpleasant.

We found the staff to be friendly and helpful. Maybe be a tad deflated due to issues beyond their control. The room was reasonable to good. I say this as a few faults were found but dealt with. No Mediterranean restaurant, no wellness centre. Food menu was very lacking in choice, this included breakfast.

The hotel is in serious need of a revamp and could benefit from a more up to date feel in all areas. A shame really as the staff were great but was let down by the hotel.

The bathroom was tiny. The lid of the loo pressed on my back when I used it. The water from the sink tap sprayed over the lip of the tiny sink which was too small for a face wash. The hot/cold water was dependent on who was flushing the loo elsewhere at the time and was too often too scalding to use. The carpet is horrendously stained, the room reeked of cat pee, doors banged, footsteps upstairs woke me up early o'clock.
All in all, I very much got what I paid for: a cheap stay in a cheap hotel.

The walls must have been very thin as I was disturbed by people in another room talking at various points - and I don’t think they were being particularly loud.

Superb!

I have just stayed at the Queensgate Hotel on a business trip. The staff were superb from check in to leaving. The hotel was very clean.
I was using a function room for the purpose of my travel. The staff set the room up after asking my requirements and were very accommodating to any needs of the delegates attending the training.
Housekeeping staff were very friendly and polite as were the front of house staff and anyone that worked at the property including the Manager.
Nothing was too much trouble and I was always greeted with a smile.
I am booked to return next week and am looking forward to my return.
Many thanks to everyone at the Queensgate Hotel.
