I would have liked it if the front desk person had pointed out the fact that there were frozen meals to buy. I had to discover this on my own. Also there was no freezer compartment in the refrigerator.
The guy who drove the shuttle was really nice and did a great job

Easy check in. However, we quickly realized the AC unit in our room was not working. The front desk quickly and easily set us a different room and called the maintenance staff right then to fix the issue. I arranged a 3:00am transport to the airport which was easily done. I would return and stay again.

Staff was not friendly. No elevators so if you have a lot of gear plan to lug it. They charge for parking but their system is so broke you practically have to trick the system to get the gate open. Place needs some love, this is not the Red Lion I remember.

The desk clerks were terrific, the room was clean, the facility nice. HOWEVER, the key cards repeatedly failed to work and the room deodorizer was excessively heavy and impossible to escape—it was actually headache-inducing. BUT THE WORST was the fact that the two-story building had no elevator. This information should have been clearly stated upfront; instead, it was buried in the middle of the Accessibility section, which you only read if you have ADA issues. There was no way I could get my heavy suitcase up and down their long flight of stairs! The desk clerk was very kind and got me a room on the first floor at no extra charge, but I was appalled that this fact did not present itself before I booked the room.

Overall, we had a good stay. The room itself was clean, and the air conditioning worked extremely well, which was appreciated. It was noticeable that some wall patchwork had recently been done in the room, but it didn't affect our stay.

The biggest issue was the overall cleanliness of the property outside the room. There was quite a bit of dust and several cobwebs throughout the property that could use some attention.

The staff member on duty deserves recognition. They were incredibly friendly and professional despite being the only employee on site. Their reservation/payment system was down, so they were checking guests in manually while also handling payments and assisting everyone else. Even though they were clearly overwhelmed, they remained courteous and did an excellent job under difficult circumstances.

One thing future guests should know is that there is no elevator. It wasn't an issue for us, but it could be challenging for anyone with mobility concerns or heavy luggage if they're assigned a second-floor room.

Overall, I'd stay here again because of the excellent customer service, but I hope the property addresses some of the maintenance and housekeeping issues.

The bed pillows were practically knotted cotton stuffed in a pillow case (very uncomfortable), we had 2nd floor and didn’t say online there was no elevators. If I would’ve known I would’ve gotten 1st floor. And there was only 4 channels on the tv.

Do not stay here. Stairs only, the front desk smelled of cigarette and top of counter was smudgy and greasy. The poor clerk had a chair in view of customers that was torn and ripped. How can the owner stand to be represented in this way. How is the manager not replacing items with even upgraded second hand furniture to soften the age of the place. The carpet on stairs was old with tears, and railing was dirty. The rooms smelled of harsh chemicals, toilet seat was broken, desk leg fell off. I cancelled my booking and have been refused a refund even after making several calls to several people.

The parking was terrible. The gate did not open to let us out. The staff wasn’t friendly. There is no elevator. Very inconvenient to get luggage to your room.
The room was less than desirable. All of the furniture was falling apart and the curtains were ripped and falling off of the rod. Disgusting is the best word to describe this property.

I only booked this place because I needed to stay overnight for 6-7 hours. If you can help it, avoid this place like the plague. There is no elevator. The key cards don’t work. The personnel at the front desk had to walk me over to open my door. The linens smelled clean and the towels too, but this place is worn down. There was a big stain on the arm chair. I showered in my flip flops. The water would not drain. It just felt dingy. The only saving grace was was the airport shuttle. It was a 5 minute drive. You need to call for a pickup from the airport and schedule your transport to the airport in advanced at the front desk. I’d rather forget this memory.

The hotel room was in poor condition. The desk chair should have been thrown away months ago as most of the plastic had worn away. I had to struggle to get the shower control to work properly. The mini-refrigerator temperature control was not working properly as all of my food froze, even on the lowest setting. The staff told me they didn't have any other chairs to replace mine with.

I liked that the hotel was of old construction and wasn't made of particle board like the new ones. I couldn't hear anyone walking in the room above me, doors slamming or what the people in the next room were watching on TV. Being so close to the airport and being far enough off the road I couldn't hear any noise and slept great ! The room was thoroughly cleaned and no complaints in that department. When I booked the room it said on site parking so I was surprised to find a metered parking drop gate that you had to get your ticket and have it validated at the front desk. I only left the property once but you had to do this as you came and went. I left at a different exit that I entered onto a one way and had to go miles to get turned around. It was 10$ to park for the night and I might of just missed this little detail when I booked. The parking lot felt secure and the whole area around the hotel was pretty quiet and not the normal criminal activity you might find in Portland. The linens were my only gripe about the room. They were worn out long ago. Threadbare with holes in my sheets and towels. A pretty insignificant thing to skimp on but kept me from giving an excellent review.

Staff was friendly. There's no lift to second floor so if you have bags or trouble carrying them up stairs then I don't recommend. Room was very poor condition, although clean. The door handles seemed to be put upside down so we had difficulty accessing entry. The bolt lock was coming off wall, cracked mirror frames, particle board exposed with nails on furniture, wet spots on carpet ( guess they just were cleaned?), just over all run down. Shuttle was easy, although we are disputing an overnight parking charge and we didn't have a car but have been told it will be reversed. Overall it's $100 for a clean place to stay, although the condition of the room gave initial doubts but for me friendly staff and clean is more priority. Can't say I wouldn't stay again but I now know what to expect from room.

The property is not kept up and could be much cleaner. To open the room door there was a "trick" that the staff had to show me. The door was not aligned properly so to open it you have to pull on the door and then push it up. Also the shower nozzle was loose it was difficult to turn on the water and I was not able to turn it back off. Very disappointed. Will not stay here again

Upon checking in, there was a bag by the door with a pair of women’s underpants just laying on the ground. It was there for a day and a half. The room itself was outdated with popcorn ceiling. The frame cracked where you could tell the door had been kicked in. No breakfast.. just coffee. You have to get your parking validated every time you wanted to leave.

I wouldn’t say it’s the worst place I’ve ever stayed. It’s serviceable if you need a roof over your head and a shower. But I would spend the extra 20 bucks a night get yourself breakfast and an updated room.

Red Lion PDX is the best hotel for price, for EZ 24hr shuttle service, for great staff, and a nice collection of convenient microwave frozen breakfast and dinner options, and, the coffee in the lobby is ready at 4 AM every morning. Perfect for early shuttle/flights.

Cleaning staff was up and at it early. I was hoping to sleep in a bit but they were making a lot of noise and I couldn’t get back to sleep. As I was leaving a cleaning staff member asked me you leaving now, to get into the room. Not how was your stay. I chose this particular hotel because I had a medical emergency on a flight into Portland and had to go to the ER after I landed. I got in late and was hoping to rest and check out was advertised as noon instead of 11. I needed some extra sleep before I could make a two and a half hour drive home. But the slamming of doors and giggling and talking by cleaning staff made that impossible. I expected some noises early in the Am and had ear plugs. But there didn’t seem to be consideration for guests who actually checked out late.

Hotel was a relatively clean place to sleep and cleaning staff were pleasant.

Physical condition of hotel needs work. Our key cards needed to be reset 4-5 different times because they randomly got demagnetized. Door to our room was physically difficult to open. Outdoor access door was supposed to be a card key entry, but they did not actually lock. Anyone could open the door from the outside.

Front door staff were not attentive, carried on side conversations while checking us in and did not effectively address our key card concerns.

The staff was amazing Jasmine and John who works the front desk were very helpful and accommodating. The room was generally clean. Housekeeping was kind and pleasant.

The building does not have an elevator and I was on the 2nd floor; the cart was unavailable when I had to change rooms due to a broken toilet. There was no maintenance on site the second time the toilet broke. The key entry to both rooms was a huge challenge. It took multiple times of trying to get the "key" to work, which was very frustrating.
