We really enjoyed our stay! It is a cute hotel and a great location. We walked to all the shops, restaurants, and boat ride. We enjoyed eating breakfast on the patio. The staff was very friendly and helpful. One of the reasons why we stayed here was for the beach access. We didn't realize we had to pay to go to the beach so we only got to go one time. For our group of 6 it was $300 to go to the hotel's beach. Otherwise we would have spent more time at the beach. The showers were leaky and had to use up the towels each time.

The location to the beach was perfect, literally metres away with a full service bar and loungers and umbrellas that were stupendous. The room itself was super clean. Staff were so helpful and they’ll let you use the facilities even if you check out at noon for the rest of the day. The rooftop pool and lounge area with Jacuzzi have stunning views of the harbour and all of the massive yachts. Don’t go anywhere else. Just go here and be happy.

We had a great room facing the beach (which was closed due to time of year we travelled)… the staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful… breakfast was perfect with lots of choices… Sylvia at the front desk and Maria in the breakfast room were so nice !!! Other staff also but didn’t get their names… very clean !!

We had an excellent stay at Regina Elena. We booked a room with a terrace looking out to the sea which was better than expected. The terrace was huge and had a table and chairs, as well as lounge chairs - perfect for a morning coffee or evening wine! The bed was very comfortable, the room had a well-stocked mini fridge with reasonable prices and the bathroom was spacious and had a great shower. Breakfast every morning was excellent. It had so many choices that I enjoyed something different each morning. The roof top pool and beach were both very nice and the hotel is conveniently located near the bus stop and along the walking path to Portofino. We would definitely stay here again!

The staff were all friendly and helpful and the rooms clean but the website pictures did look a lot better than the reality. The room was more 2-3 star, the breakfast was limited and the pool was very small.
We were also really disappointed to be asked for €50 per person per day to go onto the private beach. Consequently it was empty almost all the time.
The hotel needs a refurbishment and to be properly rated as a 3 star.

Beautiful hotel a short walk from town. Lovely staff who were really friendly. Rooftop pool and hot tub was beautiful, rooms large and accommodating but the least said about the pillows the better (pretty hard). Really had a wonderful stay, if only the weather was as bright as the staff. Cannot fault the hotel and so glad we chose it for our Portofino trip.

Everything was great! Room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The hotel is in a nice location with a beach across the street and the bus stop next to the property. The only negative would be that they charge for additional for breakfast that is about average quality. Average hotels that cost significantly less tend to include breakfast at no additional cost.

Rooftop pool was soo great with an amazing view.
The only negative was when going to the hotel managed beach for a swim we were badly treated by the beach police or staff. When my wife explained she was going out in the sea to swim a couple km and will not use the hotel umbrellas or beach beds “no you cannot” the staff said. “Yes I can” was the reply. There was unnecessary tension and it was badly managed.

What I wish Expedia would have stated (that would have changed my mind and booked elsewhere) is that to use their private beach, they charge an additional 50 euros at check in.

Also, I booked with Expedia a room with a patio/balcony and got neither at checkin. I didn’t know what to do so just accepted my dark room, knowing I’d be spending most of my time outdoors.

We had a great stay at the Regina Hotel. We made great use of the rooftop pool and the private beach while we were in town. Quick walk into Santa Margherita and a short bus ride (or ~30min walk) to Portofino. The hotel staff was amazing. They helped us make reservations/called taxi’s and were all around very pleasant. Highly recommend!

Room was clean and well maintained. Cleaning staff were exceptional & room was nice (walls thin so was noisy when neighbours were about). Location was about 800m from a selection of restaurants. Breakfast had a good selection. Pool was small & the blue paint was coming off the pool. Plenty of pool beds & towels which was a delight. Shower for pool was inadequate & water was flowing into the toilet floor. Lots of beds for beach with a charge of €50 for 2 beds.

The hotel was average. On a bright note, it was in a great area where you are super close to Portofino and other fun locations. (BUT you have to walk about 25 minutes to get to the train station) Our view was nice as well. But, a few hard things to deal with were the noise from the hotel itself, the doors are not sound proof at all and you can hear everything. Also, we had no WiFi ever!! It kept connecting and disconnecting… we talked to the staff and they were not helpful at all, gaslighting us. (Also the view from the pictures on Expedia are not real )

There was an amazing breakfast for 5 euros. Staff was incredible. Only bad comment is the private beach charged for seating, and you could not walk the shore. You could only jump in to swim and leave the beach area. On the plus there was a public beach just down the road a little bit.

This property has an amazing location just 10 minutes driving distance from Portofino. Staff was incredible and helped us with our bags and even get a taxi to go to Portofino. Parking on site, room with an incredible view, and even let us use some bikes for free to explore around!

The front staff service was outstanding!! And they are the reason that made my day at the Regina Elena hotel so amazing. They were so kind and helpful and smiled and laughed so easily. The location absolutely fabulous, and the room was clean and quiet and the beds were very comfortable. I will definitely recommend this hotel, and will certainly stay here again upon a return trip to Santa Margherita Ligure.

Room stocked basic supplies, including a fridge with optional purchase items. would have preferred more better A/C options; there was seabreeze but inconsistent. Near portofino; a bus ride or long walk for those who enjoy walking. Near center of town,; a moderate walk away. Near train station. a low taxi fare away. Beautiful Beach side that includes lawn chair and towels. Beach cafe could use some updating. A great stay away from the portofino's tourist haven.

This was the loudest hotel I’ve ever stayed if. There were people loudly talking all night, the vacuum outside our room, and there was a loud banging that woke me up. You could literally hear everything going on on your floor. The front desk staff was nice and the only positive experience we had. The breakfast buffet looked so gross I was flabbergasted people were eating it. Decent location but needs some improvements.

Dust everywhere. Lots of stains on the carpet. Large bed but only two extremely small pillows. Smelled like smoke which was nauseating.

Shower had what seemed to be mole stains

Tried to turn on the ac to help with the smoke smell but ac even barely worked.

Cheap hotel room but not even worth it.

Great walk to Portofino, but staying here provided much more accessibility to local restaurants and shopping. Highly recommend this for your trip to the Italian Riviera.

The staff here are incredibly friendly - they went above and beyond. The hotel itself is also great - the pool has the best view! We went up every morning to start our day right. The food at the restaurant was delicious - you should try dinner at least once while there; breakfast was a huge spread to choose from. Great access to their own beach. No bad things to say about this experience - we will definitely choose to stay here again if our travels take us back to Santa Margherita, Liguria, Italy!!!

Our only fault would be that we where unable to put our air conditioning on at night as it wasn't working. We had to open the patio door which lead to mosquito bites.
