It was a very nice room but no ac. Window opened, but did not have screen. Breakfast very good and made to order with some items available for self serve. Downside to access was a 3 step stairway up to access hotel with luggage; a couple steps down inside to get to ground floor room, and had to walk down stairway to basement for breakfast. Lovely park and ice cream shop, lake with small boats and ocean closeby. Town and restaurants within 10 min walk. Helpful staff.

Convenient location but really needs a facelift. Paint and wall paper peeling off walls. Sealant around bath looked like it was done by a 5 year old. None of the decor 'goes' and furniture is really cheap and flimsy. Staff friendly and helpful, but we won't be coming back!

Its was a great stop before our cruise. Shiloh was such a great help with our room and helping us get around. The check in woman in the morning was wonderful, she helped order us a taxi. The room was clean, big, quiet. The area had a lot of resturants and by the water. If we come back to Portsmouth well stay again!

Good location near the promenade. A few reasonable places to eat out locally. About a 35 min walk to the Hover port to the IoW - about a 12 min trip. The Spinnaker is about 5k away. Breakfast good and efficiently served. Everywhere clean but decor could problem do with some freshening in the next year or so. Would stay again.

Myself and wife stayed here on our wedding night for 2 nights. The staff went above and beyond the call of excellent service!! The breakfast was astounding and brought to our room both mornings and was perfect temperature! We spoke to a worker called Adam, she was a lovely lady, helped out by sorting some extras out as a surprise for my wife and was honestly just so helpful. I left a very expensive Rolex and cuff links behind and Dam called me to let me know I’d left them behind, I doubt you would get that honestly from most places!! We will definitely defiantly be returning!! Highly recommend this place

Stayed here at the start of the month, had an issue with jacuzzi so could not use for part of our stay, had only booked here for the jacuzzi. They promised a partial refund (have all the evidence) but are now refusing to do this or respond to communication.

Great welcome and the room was clean and had everything we needed. Decor a bit dated. Breakfast food was what let it down. My food was fine, but had no Earl Grey, only instant coffee. Not really a big issue but easy fix! However then 3 teas made with cold water. Solution to put in microwave. Even the one milk had been added. Glutton intolerance was discussed, even went to check sausage and hash brown. And then bread and hash brown on plate. Only saying because these are easy fixes and would make stay even better. Really everything else was fine and would recommend and stay again.

A few other small negatives. The bin men arrived very early on Saturday morning and were really noisy outside our window. There was the odd cobweb if you looked closely in ceiling corners (only small ones, easy to miss) and some of the furniture was a bit tired.

No one was on duty and eventually I just pushed the door and gained entrance for him. I the morning at breakfast he was again abusive and threatened us. One of the breakfast team witnessed this too. There wasn’t anyone on reception when we left to discuss it with. Unfortunate for the Hotel and lovely staff there.

Everything was fine except the level of noise. Several of the rooms have hot tubs / jacuzzies and we were kept awake until midnight because one antisocial pair had it running and we could hear the motor loud and clear. The staff were unable to deal with it. It is not acceptable. They need to put a curfew on the use of those facilities: perhaps from 10:00pm through until 9:00am the following day. We were not the only guests affected: one couple had been kept awake until 4:00am by their neighbours playing with the hot tub. They need to do something about soundproofing as well as imposing a curfew.

Breakfast itself was well cooked and tasty…again if I were to be fussy, the poached eggs were over cooked (dry) and the toast was warm bread with no sign of changing colour. However that could happen at any hotel!

If I were to be fussy, I’d prefer not to look straight into a kitchen full of buckets and cleaning things whilst I eat, but it wasn’t the end of the world (it just ruined the illusion). Breakfast itself was well cooked and tasty…again if I were to be fussy, the poached eggs were over cooked (dry) and the toast was warm bread with no sign of changing colour. However that could happen at any hotel!

The staff were so helpful & accommodating, we were on the top floor, which was difficult for us as 4 flights of stairs, the lovely young lady on reception said she would check to see if she could change are room to ground floor, which made all the difference to our stay. Food was lovely.

Hotel room was missing a few essentials like water and towels but this was immediately rectified when we spoke to desk porter. He was helpful and polite and a credit to the hotel. He was the night porter I’m guessing as was there until 4.00 am. The following day all staff were excellent, cheerful and helpful. Thoroughly recommend this hotel.

Nice enough hotel, but had to wait 10 mins for the shower to run luke warm. This is a bit daft considering there was a whirlpool bath actually in the room. Why not spend less effort on having gimmicks that probably rarely get used and more time on getting the everyday things right. Staff were super friendly though and would probably stay again.
