The place is in a wonderful location and very beautiful old hotel. Maybe don’t go on the days of carnival if you want to sleep. We were not offered any VIP service as Expedia said. Darci hotel manager was very friendly. We were supposed to be given free one drink every night but only got it once. I believe the young woman on front desk was in training and a lot got missed in the process. However, it is a very nice place to stay. I would recommend eating in a small cafe for breakfast as there are many and it is great to eat in small local restaurants.

Great location in the town and very close to an underground car park (which is a bit expensive for a longer stay). Comfortable beds and quiet rooms at the rear of the building. Great breakfast freshly prepared and attentive staff. Room was clean and well equipped, a bit dusty in places so was probably between regular deep-cleans. A more robust filtration system on the kitchen exhaust would help reduce cooking odours from reaching rooms at the top of the building (a maintained pocket, UV & carbon filter system would do the trick). Highly recommend.

We enjoyed our stay at the hotel finely. We did unfortunately have to change rooms due to a buzzing noise from the refrigeration system. Fortunately, this went easily and we were upgraded to one of the suites. It should be mentioned that the front of the hotel and restaurant 1937 both look fantastic but the experience towards and in the rooms is authentic and somewhat dated.

I had a great time staying at the Grand Hotel. Parking was a bit out of the norm for me, but I’d recommend calling ahead of time to get the parking address for their customers and go straight there. The roads were blocked to gain access to the front of the building. Overall, very friendly staff and a clean room. I would stay here again in the future.

Despite that the hotel is 622 years old, it is very well maintained and equipped. The room is spacious and comfortable. A beautiful hotel in the heart of an historic town

It was our 10 year wedding anniversary and I wanted to take my wife somewhere special, and this hotel really delivered! We had an amazing room (a junior suite 402), with high ceilings and beautiful white beams. The staff were also very helpful.

The hotel is situated right in the middle of the town and there is plenty of choice regarding shops, bars and restaurants. I would totally recommend both the hotel and town to anyone looking for a weekend away!

Nice historical hotel.

Hotel is located in historical center of the city, approximately 700 m away from the train station. There are many restaurants around in few minutes walking distance. Hotel is silent no trafic noise , the only sound you hear is the bell of the clock tower . Hotel Staff is vey polite, breakfast is good. I recommend the hotel.

Lovely historic hotel on the Grand Market Centrum

The Hotel De Draak is an older historic hotel with an excellent, service-oriented staff, from the Manager, Anneke, to the reception staff.
They were most helpful when we realized that we did not book for a second night. They contacted and arranged for us to stay the second night at a sister hotel.
The breakfast was extensive and well beyond the continental breakfast expected. From a great selection of fruit, breads, eggs and yoghurt, it was a great way to start the day of touring.
We were treated to a huge Bozofest event, with people in traditional dress ( German) partying in a tent in the centrum, well into the night.
A word of caution...there is a lift, but many rooms have additional stairs that are a challenge if you have heavy luggage, or have health or mobility concerns.

Bergen Op Zoom is a delightful town, with fashionable stores, an active downtown and a beautiful church, St Gertrudis.
We highly recommend the Hotel De Draak, and its sister hotel, the Brogondier.

Stayed here with my wife and Daughter on the 12th Sept.We had booked a suite through. We were expecting a duplex room as shown on the web page, but in fact it was a large room with a partition separating the bedroom from the lounge/sofa bed. This was still fine. The rooms were recently decorated, and the wifi fine even on floor 5.The Hotel is situated in the centre of the town right on the main square. I had asked the hotel by email for the car parking location and they promptly replied with the address, map and a google street map view. This made it very easy to find. As several people have said the entrance is quite tight and parking limited.
We enjoyed the afternoon walking around the town, with several bars in the area.
We would certainly stay again.

Stayed in the \"residence\" across the Market Square from the De Draak Hotel which has overflow rooms for the main hotel. Both this building and the main hotel are superb grand buildings. A secure Car park is behind the \"residence\" building and then check in is at main hotel a short walk across the wonderful square which is historic picturesque. Very friendly and helpful reception.

Greak weekend break

The hotel is in a great position in the main town square. It is a lovely old building but has been extremely well refurbished to stay in the style but give modern facilities. Staff were friendly and all able to help us with the language. We sp0ent 3 nights there during a large music festival. We were given a room at the back of the hotel as we asked for a quiet room. The front rooms would be nice on another occasion but the festival was very noisy and ran on until 1 am.

We found this hotel very comfortable and convenient to the centre of Bergen op Zoom and also to Central Station.
Our reason for being in this city was to visit the Canadian Military Cemetery and it was very easy to go by bus and back from the station. We really enjoyed Bergen op Zoom too, only wish we could have visited the museum but it
was closed because we were there on Sunday and Monday. Bergen op Zoom is a beautiful city and well worth the visit and the Hotel de Draak is so convenient to the centre of town, also has a very good kitchen.

A gem in an amazing location

This is an incredible place right on the market square. Our room was huge and beautiful. The price was most reasonable - which included a terrific breakfast and free, secure parking. You can walk all around the wonderful historic downtown area since the hotel is right in the middle of it all. Would go back in a heartbeat!

The hotel is located on the charming town square in Bopz.
It looks great and has a lovely terrace overlooking the square and a lovely panelled lobby and restaurant. It's feels oldy worldly and very quaint.

The room however let the experience down. Despite booking a suite it was dark, dated and very stingy on the towels, toiletries. I expect a robe as standard in a delux room on an autumn visit. On enquiring I was told I could rent one for 13Euros each !!

All in all very average and redeemed only by its beautiful communal areas and location.

A wonderful hotel with charm and characheter.

A short walk from the train station this hotel is perfectly situated for a fantastic evening meal and drinks.

The quality and decor of the hotel is fantastic. It is full of charm and characheter that is rare to find. The staff are efficient and attentive overall it was a great stay and a hotel I would choose again.

The only reason I didn't rate 5 for all is that the rooms were very hot. 1 room had very noisy aircon and the other had no aircon at all. This resulted in sleeping with the windows open which would have been fine other than the church clock that looks over the market square rings all night.

The hotel dates back to the 1600 and I feel that I shouldn't complain about the lack of aircon which would detract from the authentic decor unfortunately it was needed.

I would definately stay there again as the atmosphere was fantastic.

Niet genomen.
Diner elders bij vrienden. Parkeren erg onpraktisch. Rekening van €329.00 m.i klopt ook niet. Klein en simpel...zeker niet lux. Uitzicht op daken.
Omgeving de grote markt wel van genoten en ook de vriendelijkheid personeel hotelbar.

Het goede was dat het heerlijk centraal lag. Ook het personeel was vriendelijk.
Wat ik een aandacht punt vond, was dat er achterstallig onderhoud aan de kamer was. Er waren stukken van het plafond aan het los laten. Dit meteen gemeld bij het personeel, maar bij vertrek was er nog niets aan gedaan.
Ook in de nacht de raam open zetten was geen optie. Door alle afzuiging van airco’s was er een continu gebrom.

Unser Zimmer war in einer Depandance, die nicht mit dem Hotel verbunden war. Zimmer aus den 90ern. Matratzen waren durchgelegen.
Sehr freundlicher Empfang. Gäste, die über ein Portal, z. b..Expedia gebucht haben, müssen 12,50 € für die Nutzung des Wellnessbereichs zahlen.

The Oldest Hotel in the Netherlands — and It Shows

Stayed for two nights at Hotel de Draak in Bergen op Zoom, drawn in by its rich history and beautiful public areas. And indeed, the location is excellent, the entrance is grand, and the bar is truly lovely. Unfortunately, the charm ends there.

The room—labeled a suite and pitched as an upgrade from our originally booked room—was a major disappointment. Despite the “upgrade,” we went from a queen bed to two singles, something not clearly communicated in the email offering the paid upgrade. The suite itself felt more like a collection of mismatched furniture than a coherent design.

Lighting in the room was absolutely dire. Besides the bedside lamps—both hanging on by a thread and neither of which provided usable reading light—there were only two more light sources in the entire room. The overall effect left the space dim and gloomy, barely brighter than twilight.

Maintenance across the suite was poor. There was a nightlight in the bedroom that couldn't be switched off, and the bathroom, while functional, featured a bathtub with a shower overhead and a flimsy three-piece folding screen that wouldn’t stay in place—a trip hazard and a daily frustration.

Hotel de Draak may be the oldest hotel in the Netherlands, and while that history is worn proudly, it’s unfortunately also worn through the guest rooms. The public areas sparkle with charm and character, but the rooms are in dire need of refurbishment and better upkeep to live up to the hotel’s storied legacy.

Prachtige locatie en mooi versiert in kerstsfeer. Tip: oordopjes zijn verkrijgbaar bij receptie, maar als je eenmaal in bed ligt en last ondervindt van het lawaai buiten, dan ga je niet zo gauw weer naar de receptie voor oordopjes. Dus handig als ze altijd op de kamers aanwezig zijn.

Uitstap naar Bergen op Zoom

Teleurgesteld met de kamer 502:
- kleine douche met vuile afdichtingen, vuile scharnieren
- toiletrgerief kan niet in de badkamer opgeborgen worden.
- VELUX raam kan niet op kip verzekerd worden > de plastic schuif hendel is afgebroken. Vuil.
- klein raampje kan niet volledig dicht
- moeilijk in bureau stoel te geraken
- wanneer U in de bureaustoel zit, kan je reisgezel naar de zeteltjes enkel door op het bed te lopen
En dit voor een luxe kamer.
