The hotel was unimpressive. It was very basic for the price point. The hotel smelled strongly of cigarette smoke, the AC in our room didn’t work and the tub didn’t drain. Unlikely to stay here again. It was fine for one night near the airport but for a hotel trying to be upscale it was disappointing.

The Lince is in an excellent location, close to the sea, town centre, shops and pineapple plantantion! Despite being on a busy road, the room was very quiet with no significant outside noise.
The hotel restauant and bar had a good selection of foods and drinks. The breakfast was particularly good. The hotel indoor pool was warm, open many hours and clean.
The room itself was well equipped with a fridge, safe, reliable wi-fi etc.
If you are looking for a good hotel, in a convenient location at a realistic price, then I would highly recommend this one after viewing its full details and guest comments etc.

We arrived late, but early for us with the time zone change. After check in we had a drink at the lively bar, Saturday night and the crowd was fun. We were not able to use all of the hotel amenities offered. Breakfast buffet was substantial, fueling us for our first day on Sao Miguel. We walked to the Pineapple Plantation which is nearby. Would gladly stay again.

The hotel itself is really pretty. Its about a 12-15 minute walk to the popular city centre with all the shops and restaurants. Parking was free and we didn't have any issues finding a spot. The breakfast buffet was really nice and lots of delicious food including local cheeses and Mimosas. Overall a great stay here.

The Lince is a very nice hotel. The staff was very helpful in letting us store our luggage since our flight came in early in the morning before 3:00 check-in. We were told we'd be called when our room was ready, but we never were. Ultimately, we came back to the hotel at 2:00 and the room was ready. It would have been nice to have received a call so we could have checked in sooner. Otherwise, the breakfast buffet was nice, the room was clean, the hotel had good amenities for our short {1 night} stay.

The room was nice and comfortable and my rating would be higher if we didn’t witness the kitchen REUSING DIRTY PLATES to serve the next customer, repeatedly.
We became ill with GI symptoms immediately after our stay and while we can’t say it’s due to the unsanitary measures, we do suspect it is.

Our stay at the Lince Azores was amazing! When we first got there, we had a few questions and things we were not familiar with in the staff helped us with everything they treated us so professionally and we’re so caring about our trip and making sure we were comfortable it felt like they really genuinely cared and that is very rare. The food there is amazing. The breakfasts are enjoyable, there is some thing for everyone and the staff is very caring and hospitable. The only thing that would be a negative is having to wait to get coffee from a machine. It was good coffee, however, waiting for it, and not knowing how to use it you might be in line for a little bit find someone who didn’t know how to use it. We were there for one dinner also and that was very very good. It was a Buffet and it was delicious. I would recommend this hotel and will definitely go back while visiting Sao Miguel. It is a beautiful hotel. The staff is very accommodating and they really want to make sure you have a good time. I wasn’t able to use the spa or the pool but we visited all and they looked lovely. The hotel was located centrally to everything as we had rented a car and for us it was a very convenient location. If I had to write this hotel out of five stars, I would rate it a five.

The staff was extremely accommodating and attentive. Parking is on site in an underground secure garage. Street parking may be available also, but we opted to park in the garage.
We had a room on the top floor which was very spacious and comfortable. The room was neat and the layout was perfect for our needs. We kept the window open, and there was no noticeable city noise that would have bothered us.
The location is a bit further to the waterfront compared to other hotel options, but still easily walkable. Easy to drive around and get to the highway with minimal traffic.
Hotel has many great amenities. We took advantage of the daily breakfast which had plenty of quality options. Always great to be able to start your day without having to plan where to eat first.
I would definitely choose to stay here again if I return to Sao Miguel.

This is a great hotel in Ponta Delgada. The lobby area is beautifully appointed and its large windows look out onto the street. The room (ours was on the Executive floor) was very comfortable, clean and quiet. One drawback is that the lighting in the room itself is insufficient making the room too dark at night even when all of the lights are on.

A more serious issue is that there isn't anywhere convenient to park when you are checking in and if you don't have a room on the Executive Floor (or better,) then you have to pay for parking on-site. And, parking in Ponta Delgada is difficult, at best, as it is a very busy city with limited space for parking and enforcement is strict.

The breakfast buffet is outstanding especially if you are a fan of Azorean cheeses! Fresh food, fruit and cheeses so do not miss out on it.

I would highly recommend this hotel.

The hotel is beautiful and clean, daily breakfast buffet is available from 730 to 1030 with a nice variety of breakfast items and coffee from bacon, sausage, pancakes. Cereal, fresh fruits etc., having breakfast on location is a huge bonus. Staff are pleasant, friendly and helpful, and many speak English. There is free street parking on side of hotel but you take the gamble of coming home and no spots available, there is paid parking in lower level of hotel for I believe 6 euro a day which for me renting a car i want peace of mind knowing the car wont be sideswiped in those narrow streets. I have no complaints about the premises and would recommend it to family and friends.

Unbelievable breakfasts. They call it continental in the write ups and website, but it is a full english combined with a continental. Best breakfast variety that ive been offered.
Hotel staff so polite and helpful.
Facilities were excellent....indoor pool, sauna, wet sauna, hot tub ( could have been warmer, a little cool for me) but great after hiking thru the hills. Gym, billiards.
Highly recommend.

We were upgraded to the 6th floor “executive room”. King size bed, robes and fruit basket are nice. We had our dinner in the restaurant because we arrived late. Pizzas were very good and the steak excellent. The buffet breakfast had lots of variety.
The indoor/outdoor pool and adjoining steam room and sauna were clean but the hot tub is not heated.

I’ve stayed there before when it was Holiday In back then it was a beautiful hotel, but know the place is rundown I had my hopes high looking for it to stay there well never again the hotel needs lots of care the room stunk pee from the little buckets that they dispose toilet paper the maids did not washed I called the front desk they gave me another one that smelled so I washed them and and used a plastic bag the bede was missing the cover one of the celling lights was off do not recommend this hotel very disappointing

The hotel is in a good location, however it hasn't changed in the last 11 years since we were last there. The lobby area is very nice, but once you go up onto the room floors things change. The carpet in the hallways are disgusting and have many stains on them and the hallway smells. The rooms appear clean at first but then there are stains around the bed material and the chairs had gross stains all over them. There was dust and dirt all over the floors too so we wore our shoes. The sheets are paper thin and bally due to them being worn, they clearly should have been changed. The only clean looking thing was the bathroom. They have a mini bar fridge which is ridiculous. They should allow the guests to put their drinks in the fridge. The staff was very friendly and the breakfast was great, however they really need to clean up the appearance of the rooms. The WIFI was mostly unavailable. Every now and then you would get something but the 3 days we spent there we rarely got anything. For the price we paid I wasn't happy! The staff said we could come down to the lobby to use that one, but really, that isn't convenient, plus it was very hot there with no A/C. I would recommend the hotel for the location, but really nothing else.

Reasonably clean and comfortable hotel, especially for the price. However, there were many times, sometimes days, where the WiFi was not working. The first evening I arrived and tried to use the WiFi without success, the clerk at the desk told me that "this often happened with Macs", and when I finally did manage to log on but the connection was too slow that "apparently a lot of people were using the WiFi". Other than that I have no complaints, so if you're willing to walk a block to the next coffee shop then I recommend it.

I would not stay there again unless improvements were made. When I tried to check in, they told me there had been a flood and they had to move me to another hotel. I understand things happen, but the hotel I was moved to looked like it hadn’t been updated since the 70s. Not a hotel I would have booked. They did give me a voucher for a free buffet dinner (food was eh) and free parking for a night. I was able to move back to the Lince the following day and the room was decent but the pillows were horrible and the only way I could get even a hint of WiFi was to stand right next to the door. The next morning as I was rushing to check out to make my early morning flight, there was no one at reception! I had to track someone down at the closed restaurant so I could leave. Not something I felt like doing at 6 am. This could be a decent hotel if they update the pillows and WiFi and make sure there is staff available at all times.

Good location, good price and the free pool table was a bonus! Our room was a little shabby (base of the beds were torn) but overall it was good. We had a twin room but each bed was big enough for two. We ate at the restaurant one evening and the food was delicious, in particular the regional steak. Breakfast had lots of choice but the coffee served at breakfast is poor. Lots of people were asking the waiting staff for an espresso or coffee from the machine they use when you order coffee at the bar.

This trip was the first time my husband visited Sao Miguel. I had not been back over 17 years. We booked this trip through Expedia and we were very happy with the accommodations. The staff was very helpful and spoke English. Breakfast was included as part of our package . The hotel location was close to main attraction and reastaurants.

Daniel at the front desk was very pleasant and helpful. We would go back and recommend this hotel to friends.

We enjoyed our stay at the Lince hotel. It's centrally located and not too far from the city. We rented a car and parking was easy, as they have a parking garage.
The breakfast provided was very nice with lots of good options. Only had dinner there once and was also very good.
The hotel room was immaculate. Didn't smell weird or anything. Beds were super comfortable, and pillows were a bit lumpy but overall we were happy w the beds. One of the nicest places we've stayed. Would definely stay there again.

First of all, the breakfasts here are AMAZING. I would come back for the breakfasts alone. We stayed here in November 2016, which is the off-season so the rate we paid was very affordable. (I'm not sure we could afford to stay here during peak season.) We arrived early in the morning and they held our bags until check in at 2pm. The hotel is conveniently within walking distance of the center of Ponta Delgada. The beds were very comfortable, and the Wifi was generally good (although it went down a few times). The hotel has a pool and hot tub, but the hot tub was not hot at all -- only a little warm. The room was clean, and again, the breakfasts were delicious! I miss them already.

We spent a week at the Linces Azores Great Hotel recently and were very happy with our stay. The hotel is around a 10-15 minute walk to the marina and local restaurants. The staff are friendly and our room was a very good size as well as clean and comfortable. There is also a good selection of food for breakfast.

Enjoyed our stay we were a family of four visiting relatives in San Miguel.
It was a quite hotel good for us and close to all the things we needed to do.
Wifi doesn't work in rooms which was disappointing and we thought local calls were free included in our stay but there is a charge of .50cent euro just so you know. The pool is like the other reviews say needs a lot of maitance and didn't seem clean only used once.
Overall we would go back again since it was clean and safe and the breakfast was included.

Brilliant- completely unexpected!

A much needed budget conscious holiday into the unknown. Have seen pictures of the Azores but everything we experienced surpassed expectation. Simply stunning - people, food, scenery, wildlife. Booking a car is a must. The Azores have been a massive hit with our family and will be a regular quick break destination. My advice - do it! And don't forget to visit the other islands. Breath-taking!!

A mid range 3 star hotel.

I'll start by saying that the staff at The Lince were friendly and attentive. They spoke very good English. The hotel is showing signs of its age and is dated, very run down in places. The air conditioning in our first room (6th floor, executive floor) wouldn't go lower than 28 degrees. The hotel staff suggested that we didn't know how to use it properly, in a slightly demeaning but friendly way. Having satisfied their suggestions we were moved to a room on the same floor. Again the air conditioning was not great, albeit 24 degrees. As it had only been up and running for 30 minutes we gave it a chance. Over night it dropped to 22 degrees and on our return from a day trip it was a near icy 21 degrees, where it stubbornly remained. The only other real complaint about the rooms were the shower heads. Cheap and awful, turning good pressure and flow rate (I removed the shower head to check) to a misdirected dribble. Apart from that the views were nice, the beds fairly comfortable and it did what it needed to do, no more.

Breakfast was limited and provides no nice surprises in selection or quality. We did request to have breakfast in our room on the last morning (filling out the form and leaving it on the door before 2am) but nothing came of it. Overall breakfast was as I expected from a 3 star hotel.

The biggest disappointment was the pool area. The decking in places was broken to the point that it was dangerous. The sauna needed condemning.

The rooms are a good size. The beds are a bit tired in need of an upgrade. We did not have any issues however the top complaint that most hotel customers repeat is a poor Wifi and Internet connection. I guess this happens mainly in the morning and evening when most guest try to connect. The breakfast is decent in a self serve buffet type. In our one week stay we did not have dinner at the hotel so have no comment about food. We did not try the pool.
The hotel experience was satisfactory during the stay being out most of our day time.

Front desk staff were very helpful in assisting me with booking tours as a solo traveller. they made many calls for me. Also arranged for a taxi to take me to Furnas, wait while I was in park and took me back. A bit of a walk to downtown area and shops.

Improvements needed

Hotel was fine but leisure centre and swimming pool very poor.It was not inviting to go swimming.
Buffet breakfast not 4 star standard.We had to search for a staff member on a couple of occasions to get cups,spoons and the like. Other than that we really enjoyed our stay.

Not a four star.
Very dated room.
Front desk staff excellent.
Great location, quiet.
No coffee maker or iron.
Walking distance to the main square and to the marina.

We loved S. Miguel.

Taxi drivers and people in general are very friendly.

Health hazard of a pool

Stayed for 6 nights as part of a family holiday. Chosen partly for the swimming pool being indoor & outdoor & therefore would be usable whatever the weather. However when we saw the pool it was clear we wouldn't be using it as the water was cloudy, the smell of chemicals so strong you could smell it in the bar a floor above. The decking round the pool was rotten in several places & covered in green algae as was the shower area. We did complain & it was cleaned up a bit but still didn't feel happy letting the kids in. Rooms ok but beds uncomfortable & pillows awful. No tea or coffee making facilities. If hadn't paid upfront would have moved as not good value for money & certainly not 4 stars.

Very good hotel

The staff were always very friendly and helpful.

The buffet breakfast provided excellent value for money as there was a wide range of fruits, meats, cheeses & breads to choose from for continental style breakfast - as well as eggs, bacon and sausages. We always left very full!

The hotel was in a very good location a short 5 minute walk from the centre of Ponta Delgada. Would recommend as overall was excellent value.

Impressive hotel, food fantastic 😄

We have just returned from the Azores and our stay at the Lince. This hotel was brilliant, under 10mins to the harbour and town, the staff were lovely, as was the food.
Buffet breakfast/evening meal with a BBQ in the garden on the Thursday eve. Our flight arrived late so they offered us a lunch on any day as we'd missed dinner. This was also great.
Really enjoyed the stay.

Very well looked after

The staff were very helpful. The breakfast was great. The location was very convenient. It was very easy to park around the hotel - we found it easier to do that than enter the hotel car park. The room was very spacious and clean with a great view.

Comfortable stay over 4 nights + 1 when returning from another island before flying out. 10mins walk to the marina, which was very comfortable. The hotel is located in a quiet area with FREE and secure underground car parking. Linked to the only highway in 3minutes to get to all the other towns. Staff at the front desk were very pleasant but the staff doing buffet breakfast were not so cheerful for the whole 5 days. Rooms were spacious with good wifi Internet which can be a problem even in the best of the hotels. TV had good selections of channels, movies, cartoons, news etc.Bed sheets were not changed regularly so had to ask these to be changed after realising it on the second night and bathroom was not always adequately cleaned as found the hair to be still present on tiles.
Overall a 4* hotel, where we had a comfortable stay.

Excellent place to stay.

Amazing bang for your buck. Our price included a pretty tasty breakfast buffet with good stuff. Rooms were spacious and clean. A 10 euro ride from the airport. In hotel bar was good and good prices. Great service. Highly recommended. Pool was on smaller side but clean.

Holiday trip.

Reservations for this facility were made on line and upon our arrival we found it to be just the best place. The staff were friendly and helpful. The location was good, close to major roads around the Island and also close enough to downtown Ponta Delgada to even walk. The free parking was a bonus along with a very good breakfast that was served every morning. The physical building is well cared for, and the rooms were very comfortable. The decor is somewhat dated, but that did not take away from the overall experience. I would happily return here if ever I would come to the Azores again.

Pleasant hotel

The hotel was pleasant, the room attractive and very comfortable, with excellent beds, but the location was a bit out of the way. The pool was in full view of the dining room, which we thought was a bad idea and indeed, we saw no-one in the pool!

Huge rooms for Europe!

Reception and restaurant staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were really large and had 2 doubles so had we known, kids could have shared our room. The bathrooms could use really some updating but was also very large. The oddest thing were the pillows...they look like a bag of popcorn. I thought I got a really old one as it was super lumpy (it literally looks like it was filled with popcorn!) but they were all like that! Breakfast was quite good...a selection of fresh fruit, beverages, breads, hot items, etc. Coming from our stay at Carris Porto Ribeiro who was also 4 star, Lice did not live up to their 4 star rating but mostly it was due to the bathrooms and the lobby furniture that looked like it needed a refresh or steam cleaning.
