We have just returned from a 14-night half-board holiday at the luxurious Hotel Simius Playa and had an absolutely lovely, relaxing holiday. The location is excellent, next to a beautiful private sandy beach.
The hotel was very charismatic and is the epitome of my perception of old Sardinian charm. It is very impressive and kept impeccably clean at all times.
Our suite was very nicely furnished with an excellent view of the sea from our balcony and was kept pristinely clean by housekeeping.
The quality and variation of food in the restaurant for breakfast was excellent and the à la carte menu in the evening was exceptional.
All of the hotel staff was excellent, very friendly, professional, helpful, cheerful and always with a smile on their faces.
We’d like to add a special huge thank you to all of the restaurant staff, especially Antonino, Enrico, Aimane and Simone for making our dining experience “perfetto”.
We met a number of guests, who have been returning to Hotel Simius Playa for over 20 years and can understand why. We will return.

A little bit of paradise

We spent 4 days half board at the hotel Simius playa in mid September. We enjoyed our stay in particular the fabulous beach with turquoises water and great evening meals, with lots of choice. We had a superior double room with a sea view and small terrace which was a good size and very clean, water pressure in shower was great. The staff at the hotel were lovely, in particular the maitre d, Thomas and the tall waiter (apologies forgot his name)
Cons
It’s a quiet area with not much activity going on apart from shops and restaurants up in the town.
We got a local bus from Cagliari arst bus station, right beside the train station to villasimius and this was fairly straightforward however the return journey was not as there was an unexpected bus strike, waiting 2 hours discover no bus for another 4 hours. Taxi was required. Cost of taxis is extortionate. Recommendation rent a car. The views along the coast road are spectacular.

Overall I would rate this property a 3 stars, the beach and the breakfast was lovely but all the hidden fees were what brought this down for me. Nowhere on Expedia does it say you have to pay for the cabanas on the beach, or for extra towels, everything in the mini bar (although this one is hit or miss, a lot of the 4 star places I stay in usually have the first round free and then anything extra is added one). Our first day at the beach the lifeguard actually said to not worry about the fee and pay for it next time, turns out he added it to the bill anyways which we had to pay at the end of the stay. The hotel itself is outdated and in need of a refresh.
Overall majority of the staff were nice, one or two were rude but we brushed that off due to the language barrier.
During my time in Sardinia I also stayed in another 4 star hotel and felt so welcomed there and it also had top tier facilities, which may also contribute to me giving this a 3 star…

We are repeat guests of this place. We love it and we love the staff, Barbara , Sergei, Giovanni, Antonio , the chef , the housekeepers and the rest of the crew. They are all so kind and helpful and very service minded. The food is top notch, and they serve their own wine and olive oil from their own gardens. The outside gym is one of our favorite parts of this place. It’s a beautiful hotel with elegant decoration and the location is unbeatable. The owners are so kind and they really care about their guests. We will be back many times for many more years to come.

Loved this place. Staff was the nicest staff I’ve ever had at a hotel and the place was super cute and unique. Had a very tropical vibe to it and I would definitely stay here again if I visit the area again. Only issue is no elevator but the staff was happy to carry our bags up to our rooms and back down when we checked out so it wasn’t a big deal. Wonderful place to stay!

I have seen on social media and reviews of this hotel that state that the staff were miserable and that none of them spoke English and tended to be very standoffish. What I found here was that the staff were exceptional and very eager to please all of the staff spoke English and understood everything. They were very helpful with information on the area and places to eat. The restaurant here was exceptional and very high-quality. The beach area attached to this hotel was also very friendly and the beach was very clean and the water was crystal clear . The hotel itself was clean and was decorated with a mixture of African and Thai furniture. The service here was impeccable and representative of service of the olden days where customer is King and all that you needed was carried out immediately. Please note that this area of Sardinia is quieter than the north they’re all no ancient villages to wander around, but it’s perfect for a quiet relaxing holiday. I would recommend it to anyone..

We had an excellent 6 night stay at this great seafront hotel.
All hotel staff were friendly and helpful, with special mention for the restaurant staff who were most welcoming and attentive throughout our stay.
Our room was kept spotlessly clean throughout our stay and had good air conditioning with a comfortable (firm) bed.
The beach is tranquil with white sand and crystal clear waters. Hotel has its own private section with sun beds included at no extra charge if you are on half board.
A full range of choices at buffet breakfast with attentive staff providing fresh coffee/tea. Evening meals were a delight, especially if you enjoy seafood, with new options included each day. The friendly waiting staff were attentive without being intrusive and can say we thoroughly enjoyed every meal.
Hotel is in a quiet location and is the ideal place for a relaxing break by the sea. Town centre is walkable in 12-15 minutes and has a good selection of bars and restaurants.
Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend and look forward to returning for another stay in the future.

By far the best breakfast we ever had in any hotel/resort ever. The beach is stunning and pristine water. The staff is friendly, welcoming and very helpful in any ways. Our room had two bedrooms and two bathrooms, what was amazing having two little kids. We got this balcony with view to the pool and beach and we could actually enjoy the singer/performer show from there while our kids were already sleeping.
Even the toiletries were amazing, what I usually don’t care since I take my own with me.
I will be back for sure and I highly recommend this hotel.

What a wonderful place. I absolutely loved staying here. From the moment you arrive the staff are so welcoming without being intrusive.
The place is spotless.
My favourite area was the lounge that looks over to the pool. It was as if I was transported to the Caribbean. The plants and trees gave it a very stylish ambiance.
The food was incredible. Beautiful breakfasts with anything you could need to a simple but delightful dinner.
The beach is 1 minute away and is stunning.
The small town is 15 minutes walk and has everything you may need plus a few shops for Sardinian souvenirs. I loved this place.

Too expensive for what it offers

Too expensive for what it offers. There is nothing special to charge such a high rate. The location is good, but the beach service such as the umbrella and chair are not included in such high rate, and it is not clearly stated anywhere. Breakfast is included, but you need to pay extra for a fresh orange juice when you are paying a rate of more than U$300/night. Not reasonable.
The highlight is the service at the hotel bar, and the overall cleanliness of the hotel.
The service at the front desk not the best, specially when the guy is the one talking to you. I forgot the name.
The location is good, but you absolutely need a car since it is isolated from everything.

The property is located right on the beach and so convenient. Sirius Playa offers very good breakfast and dinner options. The rooms are comfortable but try to get one with a beach view. Cocktails are special especially the Sirius Spritz - super unique and delicious.

It is a short drive away from Cagliari and easy to get too.

From arrival to departure, our stay at the Simius Playa was wonderful. Our room was very well furnished, clean and comfortable with so many nice touches such as a coffee machine, bathrobes and soft drinks. The mature gardens and pool area were stunning, the area of private beach with sun beds and shades very welcoming. The real highlights were the staff, friendly, patient and very professional and the food. The dinner menu was very imaginative, changed every day but always with the option of choosing from the a la carte menu. Presentation and quality of dishes was excellent. Finally, we felt very COVID safe with numerous hand sanitising points, the hotel’s mask wearing policy politely but firmly applied. We are already planning a return visit

The hote is very nice and just in front of the beach. Breakfast is very good and heir bar too.

However, be warned that if you expct this \"pet friendly\" hotel to allow your dog in most common areas sadly is not so. We were put in the dependance, not as nice as the actual hotel, the dog was \"not welcome\" in public areas such as beach or pool, bar. We were abel to bring it along to the beach because it was off peak season. Just be warned :)

The food and service were excellent. Really really wonderful. It was great having our own umbrella and chairs at the beach every day as well. We were able to spend the whole day at the beach in the shade. The room was clean, but not particularly luxurious. I would’ve expected a little more for the price and it being a 4 star hotel, but i didn’t come here to stay in the room. I came for the food and the beach, and got exactly what I was looking for, so no complaints!

Hotel Simius Playa was a fantastic hotel, beautiful decor, gorgeous outdoor/indoor bar space to socialise, such a lovely atmosphere. when we weren’t at the nearest beach we were by the pool/bar, since you could really relax in this space.

The service was flawless from day one. Always so friendly, they couldn’t do enough for you. The food was of a very high standard, breakfast being the most varied we have seen. They offer gourmet style food in the evenings, and reasonably priced wine at only €5 per glass!

There was sadly a storm just before our stay, which caused a high volume of debris on the beautiful beach, but it was only a short walk to a clear spot, where we could sunbathe and have a dip in the crystal-clear ocean. The hotel worked quickly to have the debris removed, which took days because of the high volumes.

We booked room 10 - superior room with a sea view.. it had a king size bed, and a brand new on-suite bathroom, every detail was covered in this hotel.

Thank you so much to the staff of Hotel Simius Playa, we were absolutely delighted with our luxurious stay! <3

Lovely hotel, a few meters walk to a clean, well-kept beach. We stayed during off-season, so it was not so crowded with other beach goers. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Only downside is that there isn’t much to do at night. Would not recommend walking around after dinner as the area is not very well lit. Town center is about a 25 minute leisurely walk from the hotel, but again not something I would advise at night.

The hotel itself is small but modern, clean and cosy. It's location next to the private beach is brilliant and the beach itself is beautiful. The hotel staff are wonderful, especially the hotel manager, restaurant and bars staff. The food at the restaurant is top quality and the bar is brilliant to relax around in the evening. The most important thing you need to be aware of is the season!! We arrived early May and the season had only just started, this meant that the local area was very quiet, with most places not open yet, it also meant that the beach activities were closed. I think the beach needs to be monitored more closely as it's advertised as private but as it wasn't very busy, many non hotel residents were using the facilities. Also be aware of the swimming pool which isn't heated and therefore due to the freezing temperatures it was not useable during our stay. The beach however more than compensated for it but something to be aware of if you're not a \"beach person\". Overall the trip was enjoyable and this hotel is lovely, although we may have considered somewhere else if we were made aware of the season limitations. I suspect it would be the perfect place in June / July / Aug.

The hotel overall was very good but the classic double rooms had a very poor outlook with a not very nice balcony overlooking a ‘garden’ with rubbish about and a noise from a generator or whatever it was. In fairness the ‘garden’ was cleaned up and they built a wall to try and lessen the noise and apparently work is on going to alleviate the problem but maybe it should be advised that the classic rooms have a poor outlook as the rooms advertised are obviously the better more expensive rooms. The receptionist tried to give us a better room but nothing was available. This was the only disappointment but when you buy most things you can see what you are getting before you pay hotels seem to show only the best rooms !

Pleasant stay. Easy walk to sandy beach (2 minutes walk along footpath from hotel) with loungers and umbrellas available. Small but adequate pool. Allow two hours from Cagliari due to road closures and low speed limits. A range of restaurants within walking distance or short drive. Hotel does good breakfast. We didn't try lunch or dinner, but shopped around when we were out. The near absence of public toilets means that all the view sites were littered with toilet paper. Restaurants require you to have a full meal to use their facilities.

Wonderful hotel with a beach front location

What can I say, this hotel is simply charming. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel incredibly welcome. The staff were always pleased to help us and were polite and friendly. The communal rooms are beautifully decorated and clean, as are the bedrooms. The gardens are well maintained, peaceful and displayed beautiful flowers. The private beach was adjacent to the hotel and had beds and umbrellas. You had to pay for umbrellas in the front rows, but the rows behind were free. The beach isn't that wide so it means you are still near the shore even if you take a free row. The stand out for me at the hotel is the food. We stayed on a half board basis and could therefore choose from either lunch in the beautiful garden restaurant or dinner in the hotel restaurant. This wasn't a buffet style lunch or dinner, you chose from an ample menu. The freshly caught local fish was amazing. The restaurant staff were so friendly they made our stay even more special. Would thoroughly recommend to anyone.

This hotel is a bit dated but more than makes up for it in service and style. Food is fab, reserved sun beds on the private beach and a small but quiet pool make this a great place to stay. Our room 43 needed updating but the bed was comfortable and it was really clean. The bathroom was big too.

Stayed here for 4 nights (half board) with my partner. Hotel location was brilliant, right next to the beach and if you want to walk to the town, it takes about 20-25 mins. Room was quite, very clean with powerful shower, they also provide you with separate towels for the beach. There is a good selection for breakfast (cereal, egg, cured meat, smoke salmon, bread, cake..). Dinner was a 4 courses meal, my partner and I mostly had fish for the main and they were very fresh and tasty. There is also live music by the pool on Thursday and Sat. Overall it was a relaxing and enjoyable stay for us. The staff were very helpful and friendly.

We stayed in room 21, which was a bit smaller than the photo shown in the website, and there is not much view from the balcony. However, we didn't really mind because we spent the whole day on the beach and the room was very comfortable. Extra charges that are not included: beach umbrella and sunbeds (15 euros/day), and 3 euros to wash the beach towel.

Simone on reception is a credit to the hotel- attentive, friendly and always happy to help. Hotel is very popular with their food with an excellent chef and provides mouth watering treats. We plan on returning next year. If you want to relax and enjoy local food and wines, this is the place to be.

The hotel is conveniently located in close proximity to the beach so the location is as best as it gets. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The suite room was clean, ample in size and comfortable. Great food and drinks too. The hotel staff managed to get us a hire-scooter at the very last minute despite the time being slightly off-season. Overall, the room, the staff and the breakfast were excellent and memorable.

Lovely quiet Hotel

The Hotel was peaceful, comfortable and located very close to the beautiful beach. All the facilities were clean and well maintained and very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent with a wide range of food to suit all tastes. Staff were attentive and ensured coffee was kept topped up. I stayed in standard room which was adequate, although not large. The bathroom as lovely and clean, excellent shower.
The pool area is quite small for the size of the hotel, but as the beach is so close it was not an issue. There is a strange rule of no swimming in the pool between 13:30 and 16:00.
It is a 20-25 minute walk from the main town, restaurants and bars.This may be a problem for some, but the pavement and lighting were good, so not a problem for me.
Would recommend the hotel is you are wanting peace and quiet in a lovely, unspoiled location on a beautiful beach.

Elegantly decorated hotel right on the beach with gorgeous sand (one of the best we visited). Our Standard room perfectly met our needs and the hotel staff were very friendly & accommodating (e.g. Letting us keep our beach towels after check out until we left so we could spend the day on the beach before our flight home) Breakfast was stunning with a collection of the most beautiful cakes and pastries on top of the usual choices. Villasimius town is a stroll away but lovely to do pre- post- dinner with a nice selection of restaurants. Personally preferred the East coast of the Island so this hotel is perfectly situated.

Hotel Simius Playa

The hotel is situated right on the beach in beautiful gardens and is welcoming, airy and clean.
We stayed for just one week and in that time found the facilities to be more than adequate. The hotels' restaurant has an excellent reputation locally and the menu is extensive, though not supplied to us in English.
It is a 4* hotel and met our expectations regarding the facilities and standards. There is a small pool which is well maintained with a few sunbeds available for use. The beach is the main attraction although beds and parasols are charged at a daily rate.

El hotel es precioso, las habitaciones cómodas e impecables, teníamos una vista hermosa hacia el mar, la atención del personal excelente, fueron muy amables y colaboradores en todo momento, en los restaurantes y el bar de playa del hotel se come riquísimo y se pueden tomar tragos muy buenos, el acceso y la ubicación inmejorable, está en una de las playas más hermosas del sur de Cerdeña, desde allí caminando por la playa puedes ir a otras dos que también son muy bonitas, la verdad pasamos días preciosos y los recomendamos 1000%!

Jättefint rum med härlig utsikt från balkongen mysig lite trädgård med pool. Vänlig och serviceminded personal. Frukosten var utmärkt och intogs i trädgården. Enda minus är att det kostade mellan 20-40 euro att använda hotelllets solstolar på stranden, det hade kunnat bakats in i hotellets rumspriser.

Rundum ein tolles Hotel. Einzig die Entfernung zum Städtchen gibt etwas Abzug, da ein Bus nur 1x pro Stunde fährt.
Ansonsten wirklich nichts zu bemängeln. Wir kommen wieder!

Superschönes Hotel mit defektem Badventilator

Wunderschönes Hotel an traumhafter Lage mit exquisiter Küche.
Sehr nettes Personal.
Leider hat der Ventilator im Badezimmer nicht funktioniert und wir wurden trotz mehrmaligen Hinweisen nicht ernst genommen und es wurde auch nichts repariert.

Séjourner à l’hôtel Simius Playa fut une expérience véritablement exquise, à la hauteur des plus belles adresses méditerranéennes. Niché dans un écrin de verdure, l’établissement offre un jardin somptueux et une piscine d’une élégance rare, propices à la détente et à la contemplation.
La chambre, d’un confort irréprochable, était dotée d’un lit king size au moelleux divin, garantissant des nuits paisibles. Chaque détail semble avoir été pensé avec soin : de l’étendoir discret installé à l’extérieur à l’agencement harmonieux de l’espace. Seul un miroir grossissant manquait à l’appel, mais cela n’a en rien altéré la qualité du séjour.
Le restaurant gastronomique de l’hôtel mérite une mention particulière : les mets y sont raffinés, savoureux, et servis avec une attention toute particulière. Le personnel, chaleureux et courtois, parle français, ce qui ajoute à la fluidité et au plaisir de l’accueil.
Enfin, la célébration du 15 août, fête emblématique en Italie, fut un moment d’exception. L’hôtel a organisé une véritable garden party, avec musiciens et ambiance festive, ponctuée d’une délicate attention : une rose offerte à toutes les dames. Ce geste, empreint de charme et de délicatesse, témoigne du souci du détail qui caractérise l’établissement.
Classé quatre étoiles, l’hôtel Simius Playa pourrait sans conteste prétendre à une cinquième, tant la qualité des prestations et l’excellence du service sont au rendez-vous.

Sehr gepflegtes Hotel, schöner Garten. Und gleich am Strand, Liegen sind leider nur für Gäste mit halb Pension inkludiert, es war befremdlich dases bed and breakfast Gäste für Liegen extra zahlen müssen..... Es war auch vor Ort nicht möglich für Halbpension aufzuzahlen.

Wirklich ein hervorragendenes Hotel. Der Service, die Suite, das Personal, das Essen, der Strand, alles wirklich perfekt. Einzig die Distanz zum Dorf ist etwas weit, aber das hat keinen Einfluss auf die Bewertung des Hotels. Wir waren 9 Tage da jnd es war einfach perfekt. Eir kommen gerne wieder!

Oud koloniaal ingericht hotel.
Heeft zeker de Italiaanse charme van vroeger.
Je wordt in het Italiaans aangesproken wat het vakantiegevoel versterkt ( Engels is zeker geen probleem)
Ligt aan een schitterend strand, de tuin is prachtig groen.
Restaurant is prima met uitermate aardig personeel.
Het was een aangenaam verblijf.

Keurig chique hotel, prachtige tuin waar door je naar het privestrand loopt met eigen parasols & bedden. Veel lounge, bar en zithoeken buiten en binnen.
Wel overijverig personeel in bediening: kan wat rustiger, maar dat zal men als attent beschouwen. Vervelend op het strand zijn de vele kleding/sieraadverkopers die kennelijk getolereerd worden. Stadje Villasimius stelt weinig voor. Kom hier voor je rust en de prachtige zee. Veel gasten uit Zwitserland, Duitsers en welgestelde Ukrainiers.

Hotel che viene dal passato, ma in questo caso non è un difetto. Cura del cliente, cucina fantastica, servizio eccellente. Certo, alcuni aspetti risentono dell’età della struttura e potrebbero apparire come poca cura dei particolari ( è pur sempre un 4 stelle lusso e dovrebbe quindi essere impeccabile su tutto) ma alla fine sono principalmente gusti personali. Spiaggia e cortesia dei bagnini fantastica.
