With the price I have paid, I can say it’s not worth it. Bed is so uncomfortable, bathroom is outdated and when I’ve arrived, the front desk lady doesn’t even help at all instead she just keep pretending to busy knowing that there’s is mirror behind her and saw her playing on the computer. The other front desk guy is busy but he helped me afterwards.

This hotel is conveniently right next to the bus station, which suit our purpose of arriving and leaving by coach. The room was spacious and clean, we had a good view of the river. It is also close to shopping and dining area, and within very short walking distance to the old town. The staff was friendly and very available. The breakfast was also nicely prepared. We also dined at the restaurant at dinner, the food was delicious as well, they are priced reasonably, especially with the 10% discount for hotel guests. Will recommend this hotel.

Riverside modern hotel and bar adjacent to bus station and shopping centres. Busy street but no major road noise. Short walk to old town or Toome hill. Plenty of space, free breakfast and functioning wifi. Lime green bathroom tiles an acquired taste! Very good value in a surprisingly quiet Tartu, especially given it has Europe Capital of Culture status this year.

Hotel was in a good location since it’s walkable from the old town and next to shopping mall and bus station. Though, that comes with the price. There are a lot of teenagers and the drunks gathering at night at the back of the hotel where we parked our car. The rooms were fine but could have use some upgrades especially with the shower

Convenient location, next to bus station and practically everything in the city center. Good breakfast. Bathroom could use some more thought. Put a stopper in the sink. There are modern ones that are convenient and don't get stolen. Also, how about some wash cloths? A non-slip mat for the very slippery tile floor in the shower would help. A few disposable plastic cups in the bathroom would be nice. Glass glasses are a bit dangerous in bathrooms where people are walking barefoot. The soap was fine, but extremely difficult to wash off. Perhaps not compatible with the water in Tartu?

Uncomfortable on a hot day

Everything was great - except the air conditioning. The room was spacious enough. The bed was comfortable. The location was great - very close to the Old Town and to a shopping center (which also provided free parking).

But it was a very warm day. When we arrived the room was 27°. I turned on the a/c and went out for dinner. When I returned the room was 25°. Still hot but going in the right direction. But an hour later it didn’t get any cooler. I called the front desk and they sent someone up to look. They switched it from Auto to On and assured me that would fix the problem. It was very late by then so I went to sleep. But the temperature never got any cooler, and it was a very uncomfortable night.

The staff was very nice and spoke good English. The only thing missing was some coffee or tea automat from the lobby: as I was arriving very late in the night I had no chance to have anything to drink or eat as also everything in the city was also closed.
The hotel wifi didn't work all the time.

Ideally situated between Kaubamaja shopping mall and the river and within easy walking distance of all points of interest in the city centre.
Staff were charming and very helpful. Good restaurant on site, or lots of excellent eating options nearby. Rooms well-appointed and serviced. Comfortable and with very good air-conditioning. In the hearty of the city but quiet and semi-secluded. Rooms come with discount on river cruises, which depart virtually from the front door. Great breakfast choices.

Car parking was very confusing, they used the car park from the shopping mall next tot the hotel (next to!). Staff are friendly, the lobby is always pack with people due it is an open reception area with the bar. Locate is pretty nice, next to the river, next to a shopping mall with a supermarket inside. Walking into town is about 5 minutes.

Generally a fine place but so busy and hectic. One would believe the biggest convention was in town. The hotel is well situated, staffed by friendly folks and in good shape. The only issue was the breakfast area was a wild scene as there was either too little space or too many people. Think Times Square on New Year’s Eve.

Cheap hotel with poor internet and housekeeping

The room was comfortable enough but do know that's all you'll get. The Internet speed was really poor on all my devices. I called down to the front desk about it and they responded courteously and tried to turn it off and back on. I eventually and used my mobile data for the rest of my stay. Housekeeping was surprisingly bad. They did the bathroom and cleared the trash on the first day but didn't make my bed. On the second, despite my stopping them in the hallway and asking them to do my room, they once again did a cursory swipe of the bathroom and made the bed but didn't pick up a wine glass and coffee cup from the previous day, or empty the trash. The front desk was courteous throughout. The breakfast buffet is what you would expect in a European hotel.

No wifi in rooms and loud

Pros:
- lovely lobby with a bar
- couldn't be any closer to the bus terminal- across the street
- right next to the Dorpat convention center and a shopping mall with a grocery store and coffee shop inside
- seven minute walk to town square with beautiful riverside walk
- river view rooms
- friendly staff
- myfitness gym 5 minute walk away- 3 euros for first visit and 13 for subsequent ones

Cons:
- awful wifi signal in rooms- between one and two bars. Often this wasn't enough to even send a basic text or email, nevermind to talk over the phone using the web or to download anything. As an overseas guest, this was a major con for me. Made communicating with colleagues over iMessage challenging and I had to go down to the lobby to make calls.
- paper thin walls. On two nights, I was up until 1am with guests on either side of me talking, and then up again at 4 with the people upstairs stomping around and talking loudly.
- you can't control the heating or airconditioning using the fan in the room- as it doesn't work. This was frustrating not only because of the termperature in the room, but because a fan is a foolproof way of drowning out noisy neighbours!
- no iron in the room. Again, for a hotel that is trying to cater to business people using the convention center next door, this is a must! I had to \"iron\" using water and a hair dryer
- no coffee in room or lobby.
I really wanted to like this hotel, but the cons were significant enough to outweigh the pros.

Great location but the hotel allows pets in ALL their rooms. My first room had carpet and reeked of pet urine. The hotel did accommodate a room change featuring laminate flooring, which was better. Hot water was restricted in the shower for some reason. Not the best.

Conveniently located and comfortable hotel.

We had a very pleasant stay here. The hotel is right next to the coach station and a short pleasant walk into the centre of town. All members of staff were friendly and helpful. We especially enjoyed the \" graduation\" evening meal which was delicious and our charming waitress explained why everyone was carrying flowers (for graduation day).

The hotel is close to the local bus stops and we took the short ride to the Estonian National Museum which was very interesting.

We would warmly recommend this hotel and if we return to Tartu we will certainly stay here.

Good, simple hotel in a convenient location.

I have stayed at the Dorpat many times and, as before, it was a pleasant experience. The hotel rooms are simple but adequate for a business trip. The buffet breakfast is good by the standards of most business hotels. In UK terms I would rate it as a good 3 star hotel. The hotel is right by the bus station, which made the transfer from Tallinn airport easy.

room is very simple and not cosy at all. tv screen is a sice of a shoe box. it was cold in the room and although we booked a double bed, we got a twin room. even the check out was kind of..strange. the reseptionist shouted at me: heh, you havent payed! i knew that, thats what the check out is meant for. my conclusion- not worth the money.

The area around the hotel was fine, i was afraid it would be sketchy with the bus station is right across the street. Dorpat is located next to the Ema jõgi, an easy walk to the center of town and to the University. In the immediated vicinity are three shopping centers and two markts. The markets bear a visit because of the interesting variety of foods offered. Parking is free to hotel guests at the adjoining Tasku shopping center garage.

Dorpat Hotel is a comfortable hotel located nicely next to the river and also close to the bus station. Rooms are standard, the hotel appearance on the inside is good (renovated in the recent past). Breakfast is ok - not especially good, but has a good variety of food. It is not a hotel to remember, but certainly a good hotel.

EXCELLENT LOCATION, FRIENDLY STAFF AND NICE ROOMS

Stayed for 10 days. The service was excellent nothing was to much trouble. The bus station is right in the front of the hotel, perfect for travelling around Estonia. There is a shopping centre within minutes, and about a 10-15 minute walk to the old town, with lots of shops and restaurants. The breakfast was in a nice room with lots of choice of juices, hot drinks, cereal, cheeses, hams, eggs, sausage, bacon cereal and different breads, a choice to please anyone. Its a modern, trendy hotel with good size rooms, nice bathroom and very comfortable bed. The staff were always happy and friendly. Will defintely go back again.

Dorpat Hotel Review

We are visiting from the USA and traveling through the Baltic states. Your hotel is in an excellent location for visiting Old Town and other major attractions in Tartu. We also rented a car and the rental company was right next door! How convenient! We found the room very well appointed, decor was pleasing and the amount of storage was far better than any other accommodation that we have stayed at on our trip. The breakfast was also well presented, the food fresh and delicious and the staff did an outstanding job meeting our needs while we were there! Thank you for such a pleasant stay!!

Nice hotel, close to town center but quiet

Nice hotel, had a great experience from the quick and easy checking to the equally quick check out.
Close to the town centre, next to a shopping mall and bus station, but was never bothered by the noise from either. Walkable to the town centre less than 5 mins, either through the shopping centre or along the river bank that runs next ot the hotel.
Arrived after 11pm on first day - wasn't a problem. Lots of local info in room, and more available down at the reception area.
Large selection for breakfast from cereals to toast, cold and cooked meats, scrambled eggs, coffee tea and more. Dining are was quite large but could get crowded at times. Possibly due to the cycling teams that were staying the layout was a few long tables rather than many smaller ones.
Didn't use any of the spa facilities on-site but they seemed pretty well equipped. Took advantage of some of the special offers like the Pegasus boat trip which was nice.

Great hotel with perfect location. Just beside the daily \"outdoor\" market, the bus terminal and a large nice shopping center with a large supermarket. Also a 10 minute walk from the older town area, which can be reached by popping down to the walk along the river. The beds were comfy, the aircon worked great, blackout shade kept out the hot daytime sun. The breakfast was good, a half step up from others in the area. Did a two night excursion here from Tallinn to get more of a feel for Estonia. Happened to be the weekend of the medieval festival which was basically market stalls covering every inch of the older town area. Fun.

Good basic business hotel in a handy location.

I have stayed at the Dorpat several times when on business in Tartu. The staff are all very friendly and speak excellent English. The back of the hotel overlooks the river, which is great, but avoid the rooms on the lower floors that are close to the outdoor market. I was on the 4th floor in 431 and was woken by the noise of bins being emptied on both mornings. I think rooms 427 to 433, and similar on other floors, are the ones to miss. Rooms are functional but spartan - think Travelodge. The bathrooms are clean, but have depressing brown tiles - a bit dated. Towels are a bit thin and rough, but OK. As with many European hotels, they have liquid soap/body wash/shampoo dispensers in the shower and by the sink rather than small individual bottles of products. Free wifi in lobby and rooms. The breakfast is fine with a good buffet selection of hot and cold items, but as is fairly typical in the Baltics, the orange juice is terrible.The hotel is right by the bus station and a shopping mall. It is a very easy walk into the old city - very scenic with good restaurants.

Good hotel location however hotel itself is nothing special. Room 'cleaning' was average at best. Sheets were not changed for 6 days until I requested it. Bed linen very thing and cheap, bath towels thin and cheap. Breakfast is typical North European / Estonian - 'scrambled' (powdered) eggs, bread, smoked salmon and salad. No real variety or quality, quite cheap.

Basic room facilities, no bar bridge. No ironing board or iron (although can request one). Clothes dropped off for washing came back a day late.

On checkout the hotel tried to charge me extra 148 euros for services I did not use like spas and bar tab. I refused and stated that I have not signed for anything. The answer I got was that 'no signature required'. So basically anyone can charge anything to your hotel room without any proof. I got a phone call an hour after departing from the hotel saying 'that there is still a problem with your account'. I said where is the proof? Anything - signature, video recording, or something else. Later that day received and apology email from the hotel saying that they made a mistake and charged someone else's expenses to my room.

Hotel is busy but there are only 3 lifts, one reserved for staff. Lifts are slow.

Not impressed overall.

Good central location. However, there are many other options in Tartu.

Great location, free parking and wifi were deciding factors; super breakfast, hotel is right on river so pleasant, and very short walk to old towne and university. Staff very helpful. Cons- room fairly small, but still a good value. We like to sit and read, would like better lighting and better seating to do that. Only a few English tv channels.

Great hotel but with some minor flaws. The Hotel had Wifi but since we were on the sixth floor it did not work properly. I had to sit in the basement for hours to work instead in the comfort of my room. Also, it is strange that a hotel with this quality did not have a fridge for us to cool our food and drinks before going on the road.

This is a clean hotel close to everything at reasonable rates with courteous personel. The free breakfast is adequate. I missed the availability of tissue in the room and and like most European hotels, no washcloth.

Looks exactly like it does on the pictures - except I didn't get apples in my room.

Centrally located just a few minutes walk away from the town hall.

As a bonus if you're traveling around, the hotel is right next to the bus station. Unlike many other towns though this doesn't mean it's in a dodgy location and despite the nearby main roads my room was very quiet with pleasant views over the river

Great with very few exceptions

Dorpat Hotel is a great place to stay in Tartu with only a few exceptions. The lack of air conditioning in the hotel was troublesome as Estonia was especially hot this summer. This issue was compounded by Dorpat Hotel's location. Directly out my window was the Tartu bus station and any attempt to keep my room cool by leaving my window open was met with the constant noise of buses and Tartu traffic. The convenience of the hotel to my bus was offset by this constant distraction. Otherwise, everything else at Dorpat Hotel was first rate--especially the friendliness and professionalism of the staff.

Excellent modern hotel

Relatively new, modern hotel. Seemed to be more business people than tourists, as a bit on the pricier side. Excellent restaurant and breakfast buffet, some tables outside as well. Connected to luxury spa (we did not use). Free outside parking. Easy walk to downtown Tartu and university. Only complaint: no air-conditioning in the rooms. We asked for a fan, which saved us!

FIne if you don't like air conditioning

The heating/ventilation system is on some kind of system that the staff say they have no control over, and there is no control device in your room. The system air conditions your room if it decides the situation warrants it...It is not concerned with your opinion. Those with a tolerance for warm air might like it a lot--everything else about the hotel was fine.
