The place was beautiful but unfortunately uncomfortable. No blinds on the windows caused constant light to flood the bedroom which spacious but smelled musty.

I arrived late on the first night of my stay. The check in was fine and I got a room in a different building from the main hotel. This was expected from the name of the room. It was a Schloss Junior Suite.
Room seemed fine on first inspection. In the morning it was terrible though as there were no curtains but a large window. If you are like me and prefer to sleep in darkness this isn´t a room that will suit.
After I complained I got a new room in another building. This one had curtains but they were pointless as when it got light outside, so did my room. The curtains had little impact.
When I went to have a shower, the shower was cold. There was no hot water.
When I complained about the room having no curtains the reponse from reception that it wouldn´t disturb them. When I complained about the next room being light and the shower not having any hot water, they said my comments would be passed on.
Quite poor for €190 a night. They should maybe find a way to make their rooms suitable to sleep in. Also they could follow up a guess paying so much but having to have a cold shower.

What a great hotel! Booked last minute because of rating and location. Did not expect such a lovely hotel. Staff was super at checkin. We had two rooms, mine was lovely but the other room had pink tea cup wall paper. Very strange. Beds were excellent, I could have slept for days.
Breakfast buffet was a bargain for all the tasty choices. Took a walk to the lake afterwards before departing.

We rented an apartment which was large, nicely furnished and had a great balcony overlooking the valley. Desk staff were friendly and welcoming. Only spent one night there so did not try the restaurant or spa/pool facilities, but would definitely return if in the area.

Frokosten var meget god med passelig utvalg.
Eneste jeg syns var synd under oppholdet var åpningstidene i basseng og saunaer. Det var ikke tilrettelagt for de som ønsker en tidelig økt i basseng eller å nyte varmen i sauna på morgenen.

A pleasant stay but the service was unpolite from 2 different receptionists. Maybe there was a language barrier or non-german customers were not allowed here. I would have expected better service. The pool area was quite small but renovated. The gym was also small but functional. Rooms were spacious. Some problems with getting cold drinking water from the water tap. Overall I would recommend the hotel.

The castle / hotel is surrounded by nature and the location is cozy and dreamy!
We slept in the tower in a big comfortable room. The room however was a bit warm and no AC was available. The outside temperature was around 23 F.
The restaurant offered good German food however a bit pricy.
The spa was very nice with many sauna options, though some areas were not allowing kids so you need to bare that in mind you visit as a family as we did.

Tolles Hotel mit tollem Spa-Bereich! Das Restaurant ist allerdings total übertreuert und da das Hotel sehr abgeschieden liegt, hat man ohne Auto leider keine Alternative.

We really loved our stay here that we booked ourselves another night. They have proper beds and the rooms are neat. They provide a bag with bathrobes and slippers which you can take to the spa. The spa and wellness area is very good and relaxing. Everything was working apart from the foot bath area. They have a couple of different saunas. Everything is well organised and clean. I think we’d be back visiting this place again.

Rigtig godt hotel i stille omgivelser med stor sauna / SPA afdeling for voksne og fin mindre opvarmet pool indendørs. Rigtig lækker mad i restauranten. Morgenmaden denne gang var i den dyere ende i forhold til standarden. Meget Fair priser for ophold - maden er i den dyere ende, meningspoliti veltillavet fra bunden. Jeg kommer gerne igen.

Udover at poolen var lukket imens vi var der, så havde vi et rigtig dejligt ophold. Vi badede i søen bag huset i stedet for.

Fantastiskt ställe med underbar natur samt super fint spa. Väldigt dyr mat och frukost så rekommenderar att åka till Crivitz till en italiensk restaurang där som var helt fantastisk! Vi blev väldigt besvikna över att poolen var avstängd när vi var där vilket skulle vara hela grejen för oss och barnen och detta hade vi inte fått information om när vi bokade så ett stort minus

Die Ruhe und Abgeschiedenheit zusammen mit Wellnessangeboten und der ausgezeichneten Küche garantieren einen erholsamen Urlaub. Wir haben diesmal im Schloss gewohnt. Die Zimmer haben natürlich etwas mehr Patina incl. knarrender Betten. Vielleicht nehmen wir nächstes Mal ein Zimmer in der Waldresidenz.

Vi havde en rigtig dejlig oplevelse på Basthorst. Værelserne var virkelig rummelige, smagfuldt indrettede og meget komfortable, og det var muligt at være sammen alle, selvom vi havde flere værelser. Personalet var super søde og servicemindede. Det var en fornøjelse at være gæst!

Underbara avkopplande dagar på Schloss Basthorst. Väldigt trevlig personal, maten var väldigt god och frukosten var superbra. Serverades riktig äggröra. Faciliteterna med pool och bastuområdet var rent och fräscht. Det enda negativa var att det inte fanns vattenkokare med tillgång till kaffe och The på rummet, med den klassificeringen borde detta ha varit en självklarhet.

Es ist ein Hotel so richtig zum Entspannen. Ruhige Lage, nettes Ambiente im Hotel und ein toller Wellnessbereich. Entspannung pur und wenn es doch touristische oder kulturelle Aktivitäten sein sollen, so liegt Schwerin 20 km entfernt.
Die Qualität des Restaurants hat uns gut gefallen, das Servicepersonal war stets nett, freundlich und aufmerksam.
Nur mit dem Zimmer waren wir nicht ganz so glücklich und mußten feststellen, daß 20 m² bei den Standardzimmern für uns zu klein war. Es waren auch zu wenig Möglichkeiten, um Kleidung und Sachen zu verstauen. Eine kleien Garderobe würde da schon helfen, Platz dafür war vorhanden.
