Convenient, but could be better

Easy check-in, good room size, modern.
In the town center, easy access to all the interesting places.
Even so in other hotels or B&B on our trip, a normal breakfast was served, here \"Because of COVID19 restrictions\" we could choose a breakfast to go and had to pay for a second croissant. Guess it will be better once we are through this.

Very helpful and friendly staff. Lots of parking. 1 block from rue Racine, short walk to restaurants. Also just 1 block to waterfront park and trail.
Breakfast was boxed and served to our room based on choices we provided the night before. Convenient for day trips to Lac St Jean and Musée du fjord.

This is really an old property.

Staff is super courteous. They go out of way to make you comfortable.

However , they have an adult pub on the ground floor and it does attract a specific kind of crowd. You smell smoke and alcohol as soon as you enter the hotel during evening hours.

I will not be comfortable with leaving valuables in your car in their parking lot.

Hotel is nice, but is is not family friendly, though there are good restaurant options around the hotel

The property is convenient to downtown and near the waterfront, which is nice. The hotel has a nightclub on one side and a pool hall on the other. The persons hanging out there (plus the person dumpster diving) made me a bit uncomfortable. But overall, I would stay there again as the room was clean, updated and very convenient. The front desk staff person was very helpful in suggesting places to go for dinner.

Great Location but Extremely Noisy

The location is excellent, the hotel was clean and comfortable, the breakfast was good but there is a bar and a nightclub in the hotel on the first floor and we stayed on a Friday night and were unable to sleep because of the noise (we were on the top floor of the hotel) which continued into the early hours of Saturday morning.

We stayed at this hotel for two nights while exploring the beautiful area. The staff was courteous, professional and helpful. The hotel, although, older was well maintained and very clean and quiet. About a 10 minute walk to restaurants. Breakfast was adequate. Parking is free. Would stay again.

Saguenay is a place. There are a couple nice national parks nearby that drew me. There’s a junior college down the road and the town overall is...a place. The hotel is near downtown and in decent condition. There are two bars on the first floor, though the don’t serve food. Room was OK, comfortable enough and a decent size. Parking was easy as was getting in and out of town. I can’t recommend much of Saguenay but this hotel is fine if you’re in town.

A pleasant surprise!

Really cute little boutique-type hotel (you actually get a real key to your room!). Nice and personal. Rooms are clean, modern, and spacious. Most of the rooms facing the back also have a small balcony with 2 chairs and a pretty flower box. very appealing and relaxing. Our schedule did not permit us to enjoy the free breakfast but I'm sure it was good.(everything else seem quite nice). It's also close to the river and the park. Overall a nice experience.

Nice place for a night or two

Spent two nights there. Room was cozy. Location was good. Two minutes from the Main Street in downtown. Be aware there is a bar and nightclub connected to this hotel so very noisy at night. Second night was awoke by someone screaming in an adjacent room in the early hours. Otherwise hotel was decent.

Great for us

We had a large, comfortable room with a refrigerator. There was a spacious balcony we enjoyed very much. The bathroom was comfortably large. A continental breakfast was included. Parking was free and well lit. The room was quiet; we were on the third floor, over a large pool hall on the ground floor, and there was no noise to disturb us. The hotel has a nice selection of tourist materials for local sightseeing, the best we found in any of the properties we used in Quebec. The staff was bilingual and friendly. We found a restaurant nearby that had some staff that spoke only French, but the bartender helped greatly in the necessary communications.

Saguenay Fjord - Chicoutami hotel to stay in

We would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the area of the Saguenay Fjord. The rooms have been recently updated. The bathrooms are very accomadating, and the beds are comfortable. The staff are helpful, polite, and easily communicate in English. This hotel's location is also superb. It is easy to get to with helpful signs through town, and walking distance to much of the area.

Hotel du Fjord Review (April 2017)

The receptionist was very warm and welcoming, giving us a great suggestion for dinner (Bistro D). He told us to show them the room key for a free drink, which we got, and dinner there was delicious! The room had everything we needed and was very clean. The only thing that left me a little bit puzzled was the fact that the fridge was in the bathroom, in front of the WC, so we did not use it. Breakfast was included in the price.

Not quite an ideal location

I booked the Hotel Du Fjord because it was downtown right on the fjord. I was imagining a small town with restaurants and shops right outside the hotel doors.

It is right downtown with the fjord across a busy street. The hotels and shopping district are just a few blocks away. The hotel has a club on the first floor and on a rainy weekday night wasn't the ideal environment I envisioned. The following night was sunny and leading into a weekend with lots of people on the streets and felt much more comfortable walking around.

C'est la place où nous allons toujours lors de nos voyage au Saguenay. Sauf que la dernière fois, nous avons eu un problème avec la télévision et le personnel de l'accueil n'a pu nous aider. Il faut dire que c'était le soir.
