Thank you Miriam for your help with this booking. The room was great, with beautiful city view as requested. The lobby is a bit small and too busy, does not give relaxing vibes after a long day. Breakfast restaurant is wonderful, with nice views and breeze in the afternoon. The food was great too. All staff we met were warm and welcoming. FO, HK and Service. The male receptionist on Sunday morning shift when we checked out was very kind to us. Overall great stay, my only issue is space. Consider decluttering the public areas for great relaxation when one enters the hotel lobby from a long day.

Very good hotel, liked the only thing I was filling uncomfortable at the end when I was doing the check out, the have a list saying that I had consumed lot off things from minibar and snack, when I haven’t touch anything. I had arrived at 2 am literally and left around 8 am the hotel…. To explore Dar Es Salam them I had a flight around 1:30 pm. So the little time I had spend I haven’t touch even the free water. And they was trying to collect money that I haven’t use. But a the end they understood.

Everyone was exceptional to me during my stay at the Golden Tulip. I was attending a conference and unfortunately came down with a bad case of food poisoning from a restaurant near the conference. The Manager and specifially Damien took very good care of me ensuring I had green tea, toast, and soup to help me in my recovery. They even helped me get some medication from a local pharmacy!!

Terrific staff, friendly service. Room was clean, provided everything I needed for overnight stay. Downtown is under so much construction (not the hotel’s fault); the area is congested and dirty. The restaurant FIRE on the 20th floor was pleasant, with good food at a reasonable price and a great view!

Amazing check in experience! Staff was very responsive. Clean hotel, very spacious. My only issue was that I wasn’t a fan of the hard mattress. Also, there wasn’t any hot water per se. Other than that it’s locate close to the port and walkable area. The restaurant was great also.

Fantabulous and upmarket hotel

Relatively easy to find hotel. Centrally located. Elegant room, extremely clean and environment top notch, exquisite furniture and decorations. Air con and wifi worked very well. Super delightful and pleasant staff, engaging and gave tips on areas to visit. Delicious breakfast and dinner great choice. Will definitely visit again.

Great location, can walk anywhere and super close to the ferry terminal. They picked us up from the bus station which I really appreciated. They even walked us down to the ferry to get our tickets. All the staff were kind. The room was spacious and very clean thanks to Martha! The bed was comfy. Very fast wifi. The only minor issue is my spouse is 195cm and couldn’t fit on the treadmill as the gym roof was too low but he could use the spin bike. Lots of equipment in the gym! Highly recommend booking this place.

The 15th floor corridor has a loud phone to call housekeeping staff. It’s annoying and disturbs one’s sleep. The hotel should find a better system to reach their staff that does not disturb its guests.

Not at all what I expected!

I was disappointed by the quality of the room. The beds were not very comfortable and seemed to be cheap spring mattresses. The wi-fi was intermittent. The power went out several times during the stay. The water from the shower sprayed onto the floor in PUDDLES leaving a mildewy smell in the bathroom all the time. The room and bathroom were old with many unsightly plaster patches in the walls. And worst of all, it rained while we were there and rain poured into the room to the point we had to move our suitcases off the floor and put towels in front of the windows.

My mate said other Golden Tulip properties were MUCH better than this one, and we even contemplated moving hotels. Also, the hotel is only 4 or 5 floors in the property and the rest is business offices, apartments and retail shops.

My only complaint with this place is there was no local food on the room service menu. My first night i had to eat burger and fries. Also if you are a drinker this is a dry hotel( absolutely no Alcohol). Its centrally located which made it easy for ubers and taxies and lots of local food all around. The staff is also very very friendly and helpful. The best part however were the views of the city.

I like the location, in the centre of the city, but it can be hectic and it won´t be for everyone. My only criticism is that it is a big tall building with offices occupying many of the floors. The rooms start on the 15th floor. There are only 3 lifts (elevators) and they were often busy, so getting up and down can take a while. They are also small and cramped - not for everyone during Covid.

=The staff were exceptional. Friendly, helpful. Design issues in the rooms. Only one available plug. Pull out desk table was not robust to put a computer on it safely. No chair to sit at desk. Cupboards are open to full view. Should be screen to close them off. No trouser length hanging space. Breakfast buffet needs needs more imagination. The weekly evening buffet was really good. Simple but with imagination and very well cooked. The cooking and presentation of the a la carte items was excellent.

The place wasn’t the cleanest but the staff was great and friendly. At a certain time they cut the water off for some reason, and we had to call the front seat to get them to turn the water on. Also, there was a roach in my room. It was small, but still... overall, if I could give this a rating, I’d give it 3 out of 5 stars. The room was still nice besides all of that. And the views are impeccable. We had a deluxe room on the 19th floor. Would I stay again? Possibly.

We arrived to Dar Es Salam as a first stop in Tanzania, the location of this hotel is terrible and I’m safe I’d recommend to stay on Msaaki rather than city center more over the receptionist recommended a taxi for triple the price and it wasn’t a hotel taxi

the hotel was ok. the room was pleasant enough, a bit dated. i was upgraded to a nicer room, which was nice. however, the party that was going on upstairs till the wee hours of the morning made me wish i’d not accepted the upgrade. the front desk personnel were extremely nice and efficient.
i got laundry done there, it was in excess of twenty usd for half a load. it came back wet and none too clean.

Convenient hotel for Dar overnight! Easy Walking distance from ferry and not far to the airport (albeit we travelled early in the morning so there was no traffic). Pasta in the in house restaurant was also surprisingly tasty! Also really appreciated staff help early in the morning with getting a taxi. Wouldn’t hesitate to book again!

Don't recommend the restaurant

We, by mistake booked the room for our stay without breakfast so we paid for one day to eat at the hotel buffet for $12 USD each. It was the most underwhelming breakfast. Most of the food was finished and no urgency to refill. My husband asked the staff to make us omelettes and they were were brought out to us...there was no sign saying they have that option, it was by chance he asked. We also had dinner there the night earlier because we checked in late. Their special was buy one pizza get the second free. I tried their house special and it was awful. The mushrooms were from a can, the chicken was dry and the calamari just didn't taste right. After that we didn't eat at the restaurant and ventured outside to eat local food.

Now the good stuff, the room is nice, we had the corner room so the views were beautiful of downtown Dar Es Salaam. The AC was good kept the room cool throughout.

The staff was very helpful when checking in at 3am. The cleaning crew was very friendly and taught me some Swahili. I did forget a robe and had to pick it up a few days later- that process was tiresome and took longer than necessary, but they did have everything I needed.

Dinner at the lounge on 20th floor was decent. It came a bit cold and the rice wasn’t fresh/ slightly over cooked but the chicken tikka masala was very good.

I liked that the room was very modern. The bed was very comfortable and I had a nice view from the 16th floor. It’s a good location to book if you have to catch the ferry (6mins walk). I’d book again.

HOME AWAY FROM HOME

From airport to Hotel (and commuting within Dar-es-Salaam), please use UberX. It is very cheap and safe. I found other means to be very expensive for me.

At Golden Tulip Hotel, I felt at home.
The rooms are very clean. I miss their breakfasts.

Reception is on 20th floor.
Restaurant in on ground floor.
They have three lifts, and all were operational during my entire stay. There was no time I felt like using stairs.

Looking forward to visit Golden Tulip Hotel again.

There was no functional restaurant or coffee shop to host a guess for business conversations. The front desk was really dark when arrived in the morning (4AM). I was not sure if I were at the right place. Golden Tulip is a kind-of brand hotel but not this location.

The place was ok and all the staff was great!! But air-conditioning was off in the hallways and elevators. So when you walk out of your room for a meeting you heat up. With 38 degree and 95% humidity it ruins your day.

The view of the city and the cleanliness of the hotel and rooms were the best part of this hotel. The location of the hotel from the ferry terminal was further than expected and we were not offered anything to drink at the restaurant, including water, after paying for a buffet dinners for our group. Rather we were told we would have to pay for water in addition to already paying for our meals. Instead people had to bring their own drinks from their room to dinner. You would think that basic water would be included. Also, upon entering the dinner buffet area no one greeted our group so we didn't know what to do initially and it also appeared only certain people were allowed to go outside on the patio to eat. The hotel was nice for a one night stay but we would not stay there for a lengthier period of time.

spent a night at the Hotel, the Food was very good. the staff were very very very Polite and friendly from the reception staff to the restaurant staff. I have no complaints, I checked in very early and the guy at reception, was very polite and told me that I could be charged for early check in but he was concerned about my comfort and rest, so he assured me that he will speak to his manager, I should just go and rest., later on he told me I didn't have to pay for the early check in fee. that was a plus for my. I would highly recommend this place.
