A three star hotel at 5 star prices.

Basic bedrooms with uncomfortable beds. I contacted the front desk about this especially because my bed kept moving and my pillows were falling between the gaps. No alternative provided. Also, I kept going down to reception for basics — water, bathrobe, slippers etc
The leisure facilities downstairs added a nice touch to what was essentially a standard experience. Breakfast at €26 is a total ripoff!

The bad bits – I booked 5 rooms for 3 nights but got given the worst room in the hotel. Bathroom so small only 1 could use at once. Shower with screen so small the room got wet every time you used it. Plastic undersheets on the bed like a low class hotel. Unimpressive given the spend involved. Never had a room like that in this hotel before.

Arrived and had to wait because our room was not ready at the 3 pm check in time. When we were able to check in we had a different room type than the one reserved. We were ok with it until discovering after coming back from dinner that the air conditioning did not work. The best they could do was split our family into two rooms for the first night of the stay. Both of those also had air conditioning issues (it was barely functioning in one room and not at all in the other). We were unable to sleep for most of the night. We were finally transferred to the room we had actually reserved for the second night which did have working air conditioning but it would shut off during the night and we would have to get up to turn it back on. We were given free breakfast for the inconvenience but not with it given all the issues we experienced.

The pool and the sauna were nice and breakfast was excellent. Some details would need attention for it to become a fantastic hotel, for example our glasses were not washed by housekeeping, the canvas on the pool table was torn. But we had a good time.

The only comments I could make would be that the beds in the ‘hotel’ section were all single’s, and the evening menu was a little limited - it was very nice but a little limited.

Poor experience, and poor value.

This hotel unfairly tries to extract money from you at every opportunity.

Firstly, they advertise they they have an indoor pool, but they don’t mention that it costs €17 per person per day to use it, though this does include the sauna and hamman.

If you don’t have inclusive breakfast it costs a huge €21 per person per day. There is a room service “cool” breakfast available at €7 per person plus a €7 tray charge. This seems reasonable until you go to check out and they charge you the €21 on top. This is not mentioned on the in-room breakfast menu card, so breakfast for two people ended up costing an outrageous €63, which is very poor value.

The rooms are tired, and there was a rip in the net curtain and stains on the pillow, plus a near rip in the duvet cover and a cracked sink in the bathroom.

As others have mentioned, even though we booked a room with a king size bed the booking was made with 2 single beds. Fortunately the hotel had spare available king rooms.

Half of the car park was taped off for no apparent reason, leaving it short of spaces once all guests had arrived.

Service is patchy. Some staff were good, but others hopeless.

All in all, not a good experience. We won’t be going back!

Breakfast was below average.. breakfast hot food was not hot.. coffee machine not working properly which caused a long line just for coffee.. the kettle in room was dirty, unable to use.. the bar was not attended, so not able to offer a drink to my friends.. and room was pretty dusty

Very disappointing experience - never again! Unfriendly, incompetent staff, lousy service and hidden information about extra fees for the wellness/pool and gym. No additional towels provided. Not children/family friendly: restricted pool times (in the late evening and early morning only) and full price for the breakfast for the little ones (21 EUR) - and very dangerous esp. for babies: the windows in our room were very low but had no railings and could only be opened completely-unbelievable!!!

Overall a very disappointing stay, especially given the Radisson Blu name.

Upon check in, we were notified the hotel restaurant was closed, without prior warning of this. However, other guests were served food from the kitchens. Upon enquiring about this, only then were we informed food could be available upon request. Having not been told about this, it was very frustrating, especially considering the limited options for good quality, affordable restaurants in Spa.

Additionally, the air conditioning in our room did not function and made the evenings very uncomfortable.

Finally, the service from the bar staff was poor. A staff member was unable to make a hot chocolate as the milk steamer was broken. This is disappointing, especially since coffee machines were available in the bar which dispensed hot milk…

The experience of the hotel didn’t meet my expectations unfortunately and I would not recommend this to fellow travellers

Very disappointing welcome and receptionist!

I booked this hotel for celebrating my partner's birthday with a dinner and added this note to my reservation. When we arrived, the receptionist was not at his place(this was the case all the time on that day, he was not presenting at the reception but backoffice), we waited there for some time. When he arrived, we were not so welcomed, he seemed as if he was forced to do his job. We were not accepted to the garden restaurant stating that it is full, although I said that I made this reservation for this purpose only and for a birthday occasion, he did not want to find a solution. He repeated saying that is not possible although we have seen many places were empty in the garden even considering the must-have spaces between the tables. So our birthday evening plan had to end up with trying to find a place to eat outside where we were not familiar with the area.
This was the most disappointing reception service I have ever seen throughout my hotel stays, I would not expect such from Radisson Hotels.
The following day, we were told we could only have breakfast inside the room (although the garden restaurant was open). The breakfast that arrived in the room was very much disappointing also. Not only the variety but also the completeness. The breakfast tray arrived without drinking water and the teapot was empty. We called to ask for water, after 20 min we called again, after 35 min we called again. We were done with the breakfast but the expected water was still not received!!!

Promises much but falls short.

It is disappointing to see how hotels are only making a half-hearted attempt at serving their customers during these tough times. Unfortunately, Radisson Blu Balmoral Hotel falls into this category.

There is no doubting that this hotel is nicely located on the hills overlooking Spa. The grounds are well kept and the exterior of this period property is nice. Sadly, once you are inside, one is presented with a hotel that has seen better days. Staff lack motivation, COVID mitigation measures are half-hearted (e.g. very diluted hand sanitiser) and the place is jut not welcoming.

Negatives:

Slow check-in: not very informative / if you’re tired from your travels, you will probably lose your patients are this Point!.
Children do not seem to be a priority. Pool times are from 6 - 9 am or 6 - 11 pm.
We stayed in the Suite with Balcony. Very tired room, not very clean and with only a coffee machine, iron and hair dryer.
Room is very hot with the AC only coming on intermittently and sounding like a Formula 1 car!
The room is claimed to be sound insulated. However, you can clearly hear the cars on the roundabout that is directly outside the hotel.
No mini bar, even though they take a charge on your credit card for incidentals.
No room service before 7 pm. And to find a menu, you have etc scan a QR code on a menu card…that is not in the room! We had to get one from the bar downstairs.

This hotel is pretty good overall. It looks like it could use some remodeling as it is pretty old. The checking was easy and smooth. The staff was very helpful.

The restaurant staff was friendly but they spoke limited English. It took almost 2 hours to get the food for dinner.

Attractive old style modern hotel in Spa

Attractive looking hotel with modern comforts. Check in service very efficient. Room door did not lock at first when we shut the door behind us but this was quickly put right when we notified reception. TV and wifi excellent, beds very comfy especially the pillows. Did not appreciate the toilet being in view of the bed, not very romantic. Even though the door glass was misted, one's form could still be seen. Self-service breakfast very ample. Pool was a silent area, a little too still for me (part of the wellness centre). We did not get to dine in the restaurant in the evening, having eaten before arrival.

Nice property. Offered an upgrade for additional fee to suite. We upgraded but the configuration of the room was a bit different. Additionally, the air conditioning was in the room with the couch and table/chairs, not in the bedroom. It did not cool off the bedroom. When we informed the front desk, we were told that was, basically, how it much it worked. Breakfast was nice. Enjoyed the pool and its' tranquility.

Pros-large car park, big enough bedroom, bar food available, bar man on 20/03 was excellent, it is really close to the thermal spa
Cons-the hotel is tired and needs some TLC-inside and out, it is NOT a 4*, the pillows are terrible-more like decorative cushions, the food is VERY VERY overpriced, the restaurant food is trying to be Michélin star but no one was in there-it is expensive-no discount for guests, the spa area is also tired and overpriced treatments, they offer no discount for use of the Thermal Spa?!?!
We stayed at both Raddisons in Spa, the one in town is more expensive but newer and has a direct lift to the thermal spa. However car parking is €18 a day there-ridiculous when you have already paid for the night in a small rural town?!?! The service and availability of services is inconsistent in the same hotel chain within a mile of each other. Raddison need to work out what they are and who they are and do it all to a high standard.....

Disappointing given other Raddison Hotels....

Taking a trip into Belgium deciding to stay at this Raddison Hotel was an obvious choice given others I have stayed in. Unfortunately 2 or 3 small issues spoiled my stay. Monday evening on the bar menu wasnt able to order a steak or burger as a bar meal as they didn't have any? forced to have Pizza as the only option at the bar or spend as I did the night before 400€+ amongst us in the restaurant on very delicate not fulfilling food. The floor in my room was extremely dusty and I used a damp shower towel to sweep round to get it clean so I could walk round in my bare feet. Parking was also an issue and over the 4 day we tried to park every day was an issue. As a 6'1\" man been given an eves room was a touch of a problem given when waking in the night just sitting slightly up in bed to turn resulted in hitting my head on the ceiling given the bed was set in the wrong place, I ended up swapping ends which is a faff given pillows keep falling off the end of the bed.. I think on my next trip I will try the town centre hotel rather than what I thought would be a much better experience, I was wrong.

Spa in Autumn!

This hotel is in a great position 2 km from Spa and surrounded by woods. Lac de Warfaaz is nearby which has a great local restaurant and walk. The pool was used a lot during our stay and breakfast was excellent. Great location for a base with Germany, Holland and Luxembourg nearby. Definitely an area we will be heading back to.

There were seven of us including 3 boys and their mums. The hotel was great really quiet, beautiful surroundings, staff were friendly. there was a children's play area outside and a pool table in the bar which kept them amused. Food was nice but a bit expensive if staying for more that a weekend, although breakfast was included. Would come again.

Ideally located for the circuit just out of town

The Hotel is placed ideally for the town of Spa, up in the picturesque hills. Our room was on the ground floor with an opening patio door and little terrace which was lovely to sit out on, in the evenings.
Breakfast was of a very good standard and lots of choice, including omelettes, eggs etc. cooked to order.
Staff were always very friendly and helpful. To top it off areas of the hotel have a motorsport theme which added to the general feel.

Avoid with younger children - Perfrect for couples

I stayed at this hotel with my wife and children. It is a nice hotel, and normally we love staying at the Radisson hotels, however we did run into an issue with this specific hotel. I booked this hotel so that my wife and children could enjoy the swimming pool while I was doing a cycling event. When my wife tried to use the pool with our children she was told that children can only swim in the pool between 6-9am and 7-11pm (not exactly child friendly hours). She was then told this is because this hotel is a wellness spa and most of the guests are adults, and this information was posted on their website (FYI...I looked, and still can't find it). Needless to say, not very happy about this, and for this price I feel my family should have access to the pool all day.
I completely understand that this is a spa, and would have been fine if before booking I knew this was not a children friendly hotel. I just would not have chosen it.
So if you are traveling with younger children I would avoid this hotel. If you are traveling by yourself, or with your wife this hotel will be very nice for you.

Average hotel which does what it says on the box

The hotel is ok, it is located outside of the town and has a large wellness centre available to guests (we did not use so cannot comment on the actual facilities). It feels a bit soulless. The rooms are comfortable, nothing special although a nice bathroom with separate waterfall shower and bath. Nice bathroom amenties, This Works products. Breakfast as fine, a good selection. Staff were fine, friendly but nothing wow. Two night stay and no complaints, just not sure I would return. Not because anything went wrong, I just prefer small boutique hotels. We stayed at this hotel as a friend organised the trip. Convenient for Spa Francorochamp track. A bit of a pain to get a taxi (€10) to the town for dinner. There is a Radisson in the town centre.

Perfect recipe for a relaxing stay

We had a wonderful relaxing stay at the Radisson blu Balmoral hotel.on the whole great staff. At reception David and maxime always helpful and attentive. The facilities are great if you want to relax in the pool,sauna of take a massage.

The hotel restaurant is also excellent. Only downside was the arrogance of the restaurant manager. We went to the restaurant at6.50pm but was told by the restaurant manager that it opened at 7pm so he told us to go to the bar for a drink. We went to the bar. No barman! The restaurant manager comes to the bar walking right passed us but ignoring us and proceeds to get a beer for a worker and then chats to him while still totally ignoring us.not a good first impression Giles???

Apart from this the stay was wonderful. Did some walks in the Ardennes and generally relaxed.

no Enlish at Radisson Blu is not good enough

My husband and I have stayied at this hotel after a visit to Thermes de Spa. Unfortunatelly despite nice photos and relatively good reviews we were left very dissapointed. The receptionist didnt speak English and didnt give us good directions how to get to our room, as a result we have spent about 15 min looking for it ourselves. The bed in the room was very uncomfortable - probably could do with an upgrade.
There was no heating regulation in the room as a result of which my husband and I were cold at night and ended up sneezing the next day. There was a nice looking fine dining restaurant at the hotel so we thought we would give it a go, however the service was again very poor. Seems like belgian waiters are afraid to service english speaking customers. It started off from a waiter handeling one menu to my husband and completely dismissing me, which made me feel like women are perhaps being treated little differently there??!! Only when we asked for a 2nd menu we were given one! Nobody has asked us if we are ready to order or if we want any wine with our meal. We were completely ignored the whole evening, which is definitely not what you expect at a fine dining restaurant!!
The tasty breakfast was the only positive aspect of our stay.. We didn't have time to use spa facilities so cant comment on that. We will definitely not be returning. A very poor 4 star. Staff not comfortable speaking English.

A Great Place to Stay in Spa

My husband and I honeymooned at this hotel in Spa, and loved almost all of the aspects of it. They upgraded us to a beautiful suite with a large balcony, provided us with a complimentary local confectionary, and two free drinks of champagne. The room was spacious and comfortable all except for the bathroom which, although had two shower options (standing and separate tub), neither offered a means by which to control the shower water (not curtain or door). That bathroom was still very nice, just often very wet. Additionally, the complimentary breakfast at this hotel was AMAZING! So many options, excellent quality food, and extremely attentive staff. We greatly enjoyed our stay at the Radisson BLU and would highly recommend this charming hotel to anyone traveling in the area.

Visiting the area for the British GT motor racing at Spa so didn't spend much time in the hotel but generally happy with it apart from at check in which took a ridiculous time, there were 6 of us altogether the first three checked in quickly then some french people walked in and the receptionist decided to ignore the rest of our party and serve them, until she got shouted at by my irate Italian friend.

Very disappointing for a radisson blu

One caveat to start, the staff was very nice and helpful.

That being said,

I stay in radisson blus often for work and generally like them a lot. Having never been to Spa, I booked at this hotel thinking my wife who had never stayed in a RB would really like the 4 star quality. Instead we were created with a hotel very much in need of a remodel. The hotel is run down to a two star level, the rooms were not clean and the hotel smelled badly.

I will have a hard time getting my back to a radisson blu anywhere because of the condition of this property.

Great overnight stopover in Spa

Hotel rooms and ensuites are of a good standard and very clean, the reception staff were friendly and check in / check out was quick and painless. Dining at the hotel was a good experience - the food and presentation to a high standard. I would definitely stay at this hotel again. Location is good for exploring the area around Spa - recommend a visit to the Barrage de la Gileppe.

not as expected

Very disappointing standard as to that normally expected by Radisson. Not at all happy with service in several areas, including only one person was ever serving at check in and check out causing frustrating delays and delaying my onward journey by almost 30 minutes. Will try to avoid in future.

Lovely setting for the hotel. The only problem being not enough parking. Hotel out of town, so would need a car to get into Spa. Overall stay lovely.

Bel entrée. Bel Espace lounge et cave à vin mise en valeur.

Petit dejeuner satisfaisant mais tres peu de personnel pour trop de clients. La majorité des tables etaient encore sales et beaucoup ne pouvaient pas s‘assoir.
Le pain san gluten etait moisi: signalement au personnel mais aucune excuse !

Très belle chambre familiale pour 4 personnes qui s'est avérée être une suite avec 2 chambres séparées, un sas d'entrée, un wc et une salle de bains. Grand espace. Très propre mais un peu bruyant car côté route. Le parking de l'hôtel est gratuit et situé à gauche de l'entrée si l'on se trouve face à l'hôtel. Attention néanmoins à prévenir à l'avance si vous emmenez votre chien sous peine de devoir payer une amende de 50€. Sans quoi l'hôtel vous facture 20€/nuit/animal.
