Lovely old building, loads of character, rooms in annex adjacent and comfortable . Staff are lovely and work really hard to make you at home. Hotel restaurant good, the lamb ribs to die for.

Parking in Montreuil not easy but hotel has own small carpark on first come basis.

A comfortable and clean hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. The breakfast buffet offered is very nice with lots of choice. Access to walking the ramparts and the citadel is 1/2 block away - unfortunately the citadel was closed while we were visiting due to wind.

Thought the restaurant was great food superb,Breakfast was excellent service again good. Hotel was let down by the rooms which were clean and tidy but a bit tired and in need of refurb with plug points in short supply and the corridors leading to the rooms need redecorated. The showers were definitely not what should be expected from a 90 euro a night hotel and in general the bathrooms were not up to scratch. In summary rooms should be overhauled and modernised or prices should come down.

A delightful specious hotel in an historic property with interesting features, well renovated and modernised. Pleasant modern bedrooms with showers not baths. The restaurant, where Monsieur le Patron presides, has a good reputation locally with excellent food and not expensive wines but leisurely if willing service. Breakfast is amazing for €11: squeeze your own fresh oranges if you wish, boil your own eggs, choose from bacon and excellent scrambled eggs (not like the overcooked dried ones you get in UK hotels), cheeses, jams including marmalade. There is a machine for making a dozen types of excellent coffees. Delightful patio to the rear and good wifi reception throughout the complex. Some 45 miles drive from Calais.

Great location although unfortunately the old frontage and courtyard were under repair. Not a problem in terms of noise but it probably would have got a 5 star rating if everything were up and running normally,

Very cheerful and helpful staff, good breakfasts, and the room was quite large. Probably could do with an overhaul of the room decor as well as they are showing their age a bit, but overall quite adequate and comfortable.

We came to France for a pre-Brexit short break while we could still take our dog with relative ease. Hoping to enjoy some great French cuisine without breaking the bank. This is a fine Logis hotel. Excellent restaurant, comfortable rooms, pet friendly, warm and helpful staff and very reasonable prices. France at its best.

What a great find!

We so lucked out with this beautiful hotel. We were travelling back from Honfleur and stopped off for the Sunday night. The bar with the log fire, the friendly staff who can't do enough for you and the restaurant was out of this world! The food for the set meal was definately 5 star quality - we are still reliving the desserts as so outstanding. Another big plus is it is so dog friendly. We will be back & will recommend to all our friends & family

We have stayed here before and find it very convenient and comfortable. Nice courtyard to sit in the sun. Some of the inside of the hotel is looking a bit shabby, e.g. the games room but, on the whole very good. We would stay here again

Wish it had been longer...

Fabulous little hotel, in a great location.
Rooms were large and simply furnished, the bed was comfy. The bathroom was quit big, but the shower over the bath was not so good in that you could feel the bath moving under your feet, it was quite unsteady.
The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. We had left the lights on our car and it was no trouble for them to help out with a jump start.
We sat in the beautiful sun-trap of a courtyard and had a late lunch when we arrived, comprising mixed meat and cheese platters, with wine and beer. It was extremely reasonable in price and a nice snack before dinner in the evening, which incidentally was at the adjoining restaurant...we would without doubt, recommend eating there, it was fantastic.
Breakfast the following morning was fresh and plentiful, with lovely breads, croissants, yoghurts, cakes, eggs etc..
All in all a great stay, next time it will be for a longer period of time!

The staff were fine. The double room I booked was OK. The single wasn't: the fittings were tired and old, there was a cloth over the plug-hole in the bathroom and a bad smell emanating from the hole, and the single room cost as much as the double, though significantly smaller.

This is a faded glory hotel. Starting in the 15thc. Room was adequate. Shower a bit dicey for me getting in and out as nothing to hold onto. However we will stay again.Charming ! It has a lovely bar and good restaurant, where we enjoyed the food. Wine good and reasonable. One did not feel they were exploitative with the prices. Parking down the bak road a few yards away but OK. In the middle of a quaint shopping area.

We only spent one night here on the way back to Calais. The hotel itself was full of character, the bar had the feel of an old English pub and the outside courtyard would have been a pleasant place to sit at night with a drink if we had been there for longer. Our room was very clean and tidy but wasn't too sure about the toilet being separate from the bathroom as they were at opposite ends of the room! Breakfast was a bit disappointing and the cutlery and crockery could have done with a good wash! However the staff were friendly.

Very friendly and welcoming staff, cosy bar and pleasant courtyard to sit out in. Le Patio restaurant adjoining was a real hit. Excellent breakfast buffet was worth the extra charge. Only criticism is that accommodation block was a bit \"Travelodge\" although room itself was clean and comfortable.

We stayed here after driving from Brittany and wanting to be near Calais. Was very pleased with hotel. Lovely people. Nice courtyard to have drinks in the sun lots to see. Not far from Calais. We will return and have a good look round the area. Our room was lovely Even had a kettle in. Finished our holiday off nicely.

Good Location for a Short Trip to France

We stayed at this hotel for one night during a short trip to France. We found both the receptionist and the barman to be very friendly and helpful.

Our room was in the annexe at the back of the hotel and had everything we needed for a one night stay. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable however both the bedroom and bathroom looked a little tired and could have done with a bit of a \"face lift\". We parked our car in a the hotel garage overnight at a cost of 9 euros.

The main hotel building has a lovely bar and courtyard area where you can sit and relax with a drink. Unfortunately our stay coincided with a group of around 10 rowdy Belgian men who seemed to think they could use the bar area for their own private drinking party for several hours during the afternoon and early evening with no consideration for other guests who might also like to have a drink. The receptionist and barman did apologise several times and are obviously not responsible for the bad behaviour of other guests. They did also then arrange for us to have a drink served in the mezzanine area above the bar so we did not have to witness the behaviour of the other guests, though we could still hear them.

We ate dinner in the The Patio restaurant which was lovely and I will review this separately. Just to say it had a nice ambience and the food was wonderful. After dinner we returned to the hotel bar to find it now empty and so enjoyed a quiet drink with a couple of other hotel guests.

Great Little Hotel, Great Little Town

We were greated with genuine warmth by the receptionist and the Patronne. They were both very helpful and made our short stay very welcoming and relaxing. The room was clean and functional with a big comfortable bed. The hotel is a melange of period buildings ranging from half-timbered to modern and is built around two charming courtyards that will be very pleasant to sit out in during the warmer months. The bar is in the wooden framed part of the hotel and is very comfortable with a woodburner that is kept well supplied throughout the day, with local beer on tap as well a a good selection of hot drinks. We ate at the attached restaurant both evenings, The menu is commendable limited and the food adventurous, well cooked and presented by attentive but not intrusive staff. The hotel is easy to find and is in the top part of Montreuil-sur-Mer near the main square. The town has a selection of bars and food placed ranging from Kebab shops to modern regional! Montreuil has a long history reflected in its fortifications (there is a rampart walk with amazing views), its architecture and its location as General Haigs HQ from 1916. All in all a good base to explore the almost unknown Sept Vallees, the Coast and the militaryhistory of the area. We shall be going back.

Historic hotel and a lovely French town

I travelled to France to attend the 600th anniversary of the Battle of Agincourt. I really enjoyed my stay in Montreuil sur mer. This is a quiet and picturesque town. This hotel is very old and historic. The atmosphere inside the hotel was lovely. The hotel is located close to the town centre and around 10 minutes from the railway station. I fell lucky choosing to stay here and would come back again.

Ideal place as last stop before getting the ferry

WE have used this hotel three times already and plan another one in about three weeks. It is ideal for Supermarket shop before getting the ferry home. The courtyard garden is a delight.
The Patio restaurant next door but one, (part of hotel) is a must as the food is original and delicious. The presentation of each dish is beautiful.

Excellent service from the Hotel Manager in welcoming us and making special provision for the secure parking of our Morgan. Unfortunatley our shower did not worked properly, we had one of the quiet rooms at the rear of the hotel,so we were moved quickly and effectvely. Unfortunately the second room was at the front of the hotel and had more noise from traffic in the early morning.

We were visiting for the annual antiques market. The room was comfortable, the location very central and the staff helpful. We enjoyed outstanding meals in the restaurant, good breakfasts in the delightful breakfast room and nice drink in the bar. There is a pool table in a room like an old London club, lovely. If you are keen on the internet, wifi is very weak in the new rooms away from the main hotel.

We spent 3 nights at this lovely hotel in July. The staff were friendly and helpful and worked hard. Many of the bedrooms surrounded a pretty courtyard where you could enjoy breakfast, relax during the day or sip on aperitifs during the evening. The cosy bar was lovely for a nightcap! Montreuil sur mer was an excellent base for exploring the Pas De Calais and Basin de Somme.

Booking confirmed a mini bar plus tea and coffee making facilities in room -after 6 hour drive just wanted a cuppa in room - none provided - Wi-Fi code provided for room - not working!! Asked at reception told not working , asked about facilities - asked to show - said was a mistake!! Went and got a kettle from kitchen and plonked on bar - nothing else ! Asked for tea & coffee in bar - one tepid tea and no milk.. Still no Wi-Fi in bar - receptionist called Manageress at home home re issues - said could discuss with her in evening!! Decided not to have breakfast and meal due to poor service and attitude - checked out next am by Manageress - not a word as to how was stay etc? Shame as location great and hotel has some character , nice courtyard etc rooms basic but fine apart from tiny bath in ours!! They need to advertise what offer , not what they don't !! Sort Wi-Fi and be a bit more friendly!!

Very disappointing.

Very disappointing. Certainly not good value. The room was cold, old, tired and on the main street. Would not return. Incidentally the room was 75 Euros through the hotel but I paid 85 through hotel.com!!!
