Room was ok. Few things were amiss shower pipe was twisted we told reception and they said they had looked and it was fine ??? Some reception staff need to smile more. Resturant staff were very good as were housekeeping.

The hotel was very busy with golfers and check in although polite was very slow. The room was totally adequate and had a nice view of the golf course. You had to walk through the bar/dining area to access the Spa which was quite loud. We ate dinner which was very good excellent steak for the price. Breakfast was self service and at 9:15 quite a few items were missing i.e. butter, marmalade and the fried eggs were very hard and rubbery more supervision and care would be good.

I had the best welcome at a hotel in a while. Super lovely receptionist, very friendly and helpful.

For the price this hotel is fine. Just lacks a bit of cleaning, the gym was filthy with no air conditioning (I didn’t bother with the pool area based on this!!)

The stairs haven’t seen a hoover for a very long time!

The room was large and clean enough though. Very quiet and I slept well.

I would stay here again and recommend for a cheap business night or weekend.

Lovely quiet location. Didn’t have breakfast but the dinner night before was lovely.
Clean large room. Lovely shower.
The only reason I wouldn’t give it top marks is because it had 2 of my pet peeves ..
Firstly no plug socket next to bed .. and secondly i hate fixed shower gel bottles when its difficult to dispense!
Other than those minor annoyances, it was a great stay.

Lovely setting and views from the hotel public areas and our room. Quiet and peaceful. Staff were all very helpful and friendly. Room spacious , clean and comfortable. Breakfast was self serve offering a good choice of hot & continental. Swimming pool was closed whilst we were there unfortunately but hot tub jacuzzi and sauna were open and available along with other Spa facilities. Would definitely stay again.

All of the staff from the reception team to the breakfast team bar team and room cleaning team were so friendly and helpful.
The room was spotless and quiet with plenty of tea/coffee/milk/ biscuits for our 1 night stay.
We really enjoyed having use of the pool/steam room/sauna and jacuzzi. Especially adults gaving use of it for an hour before children were allowed in. Definitely would stay there again.

We had a lovely relaxing stay and had plenty of time to enjoy the nice pool.
The bed was large and very comfortable so slept well. We didn’t eat at the restaurant as it wasn’t overly tempting for a vegetarian.
Would definitely stay there again when in the area.

I’ve stayed here before and I have to say the property has degraded considerably. The mattress was terrible in the room leaving both my wife and I with sore backs and hips. The ‘Spa’ pool, sauna, jacuzzi, etc were tired and lacking cleanliness. The changing rooms were dirty and showing their age as well as water damage to metal furnishings. The lack of items in the room like a fridge or even basic wash items such as a shower cap, cotton bud etc were noticeable by absence. Overall I wouldn’t come back as it was lacking in the basics of cleanliness and hygiene as well as other things I’d expect as complimentary of a Spa Hotel - like a decent bed.

We wanted a nice relaxing and chilled weekend. The hotel, room except for the shower and hairdryer, food and the staff were awesome. However we couldn’t use the pool as it was freezing cold. The pool was one of the reasons we picked this hotel.

Am impressed with my stay

I was really impressed with my stay. My room was spacious, and spotlessly clean. The bathroom shower was excellent. If you are tempted to stay, ignore any negative reviews as it's really nice here. I didn't hear any other guests moving around. I used the spa facilities twice and found everything clean and tidy. The pool is small but was adequate for a decent swim. I will definitely return.

Firstly the postcode didn’t take us to the hotel it took us to the middle of nowhere.

The bathroom was tired and needs upgrading. The shower in the bath was difficult to access because of our age. Although we were there for a three night stay the towels were not changed and when we questioned this at reception we were told they are only changed if requested and there was a problem with staff shortage. The waste bin was not emptied for the whole stay although it was full and the cups/coffee/ tea were not replaced. We expected much better for the price we paid.

I really wanted to give this a glowing review as there was much to like, however overall my experience was terrible.

I stayed off season, but breakfast is not served until 7.30am during weekdays, which was too late as I had to be out by then, making it virtually useless for anyone who is working.

However the hotel were very accommodating and credited my breakfast against the evening meal. The evening meal was very pleasant but as the restaurant was busy (Pancake Day) it was slow.

The room on the lowest level (107) was cold. It had night storage heaters so I presumed it would warm up but it didn't. Again not a massive issue as I would prefer to be cool than too hot.

However my shower was a non existent drip. When I got up in the morning at 6.30 for a shower it was not possible as there was no water. I was told the borehole had dried up but this really left me disappointed.

I discussed this with reception and as it was early they took it away to deal with it. They offered a full refund which was agreeable, however over a week later I have checked Expedia and my Credit Card and there is no credit applied, so I have been left feeling let down again.

I have tried calling and emailing to resolve without any luck.

I need to stay in South Devon every month for the next 15 months but I will have to look for somewhere that can meet the basic needs of a traveller.

Nothing like the pictures. The spa areas were messy and unkempt (changing room floor covered in hair). The hallways and our room were extremely dated and in need of a makeover. The room smelt damp and there was no fan in the bathroom. Would definitely not call this a spa hotel. Felt disappointed and underwhelmed.

The receptionist who checked us in was very nice and welcoming.
Breakfast was lovely and made with with good quality ingredients.

Had a terrible experience and would NOT recommend. despite having a confirmed booking, i got there in the middle of the night to be told someone marked my reservation as for the day after and there are no rooms available. then i was told, wait, there is a room, and was given the key; I get to the room, try the key and a man opens the door! at 2am! Then the receptionist finally tells me they have another room that is marked as out of service because it needs maintenance, as it is damp and smelly but i can stay there until the morning. The place is in the middle of nowhere, i was told that if i want. a refund i ned to come back in the morning...that would have been a half hr drive at least each way, for a mistake that is not mine.... Following day, another receptionist apologises for the experience and says he would speak to his manager to get a refund approved. A few hours later i get an email saying the room i stayed in was fine and that no refund will be issues. I call the hotel frustrated and the manager (?) shouts at me! it has simply been horrible.....PLUS the steam room is decommissioned for good, so yet another piece of misleading information. AVOID AT ALL COSTS

The hotel is good for some one who interested in golf sport.
The spa fully booked when I reached because I must book in advance if I want any kind of services.
I was shocked by the hotel's policy, which forces the tourist after he paid the full amount to them to share his visa information in order to avoid the damages that they assume from the visitor in their minds and their refusal to take a cash as a guarantee.

A very nice stay.

A very pleasant stay the setting in the middle of a golf course means you are surrounded by countryside and away from the roads. We had a evening meal which was excellent and plenty of it. I can imagine it will be busy at weekends but certainly the 2 nights we stayed it was ok so there was plenty of parking. A plus for us was we didn't see any dogs in the hotel.

Great location, shame about the bed!

The hotel is in a beautiful location, very peaceful. It is well kept, clean and staff are very friendly. Our room overlooked the golf course which was wonderful. I can't comment on restaurants as I didn't eat there but there were several gluten free options for dinner. I haven't given 5 stars as there were a couple of bugs on the carpet (loads of condensation in the windows and streaming down into the carpet). The 2 single mattresses were put together for the double but unfortunately one of them was very worn and felt like I was going to fall off the edge. I have a chronic back disability and chose the hotel for the Hypnos mattress. Sadly on this occasion it failed to deliver on its promise and I had a lot of back pain. I informed reception on check out, hopefully housekeeping will sort.

Had a fabulous one night stay here with a friend. Unfortunately we had one unwelcoming waiter at dinner but all other staff and waiters/bar were fantastic. They made our evening and we had such a good laugh meeting with guests at the hotel. The spa was fantastic although we struggled to get towels/robes. The room was very cold but clean, tidy and perfect for our use. Dinner and breakfast was outstanding! Although a few little hiccups (to be expected anywhere on a bust Saturday) i would definitely book again.

I thought the hotel itself needed a bit of an update, it’s a very busy place lots of people using the facilities. The spa area needed a good clean and looked like it hadn’t seen a duster or a mop for a while.
The shower in our room was very disappointing, very poor water pressure.
But the twin room itself was very comfortable and clean.

We had a pleasant stay for our three night break. The hotel is located in a lovely area. The staff dealt with all of our queries wel apart from an issue we had with pillows. Evening meal was very good. Understandably choice is limited because of the current situation. Breakfast was fine apart from underdone toast(more like warm bread) Rooms are reasonable but the hotel in general needs a refurb . Generally pretty good especially for golfers.

Furniture like its come from a skip. Big mistake staying here. Never go by the website pictures or reviews. Totally nothing like it actually is. Limited breakfast menu cold coffee. Our anniversary weekend treat, and what a treat it was. From arrival to check out we had the best service you could wish for. Our suite was beautifully clean and the bedding so luxurious. All the staff we met were friendly and helpful and even placed a cake in our room on arrival with “Happy Anniversary” beautifully hand written in chocolate on the plate. Breakfast was great and waiter Christopher was a joy with plenty of friendly banter and great service. The spa and massage were amazing. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and can’t wait to return.

For a resort hotel could have a bit more entertainment for kids, no park nothing to keep them happy. The restriction on the pool for the kids to use is poor times. People these days still have kids hotels should think about this. Hotel could do with an upgrade. Parking during the day can be a pain as all the golfers take the good spots, something to think about for the hotel guest. Either you're a golf club first or a resort. Sort out the entertainment and you will be onto a winner..

The check out time 10.30am is too early. We were half hour late checking out and we were asked to pay extra £10. After much complains, it was taken off. Through my extensive travels, this is the first hotel that asked for extra money for half hour late and check out before 11am. The restaurant service was great.
