Team were all amazing.

Awful wet dog/ drain smell through out the carpeted areas in the upstairs corridors. The property had opened windows and oil reed diffusers on window sills but quite frankly it needs a good clean! Not a pleasant experience. They leave the back door “open” to allow for fumigation but is a security risk to the bedrooms!! The top floor is the 2 bedroom Nelson suite. Very tired looking shared en suite shower room. Toilet seat broken with wobbly seat. Cracked/ broken floor tiles. Black mold in shower grout (very easy to deal with but another example of lazy cleanliness). No hand towel or holder provided for use with the sink! You have to bring your bath sheet and head towel into the en suite and store on top of the closed toilet lid as only a small hook provided on the back of one of the doors. No foot towel provided for exiting the shower cubicle either. Decent smelling shower gel provided but very awkwardly positioned high up in the cubicle not ideal for children or anyone under 5 ft 7 as it is in fixed storage at eye level in a relatively small cubicle. Water pressure average but shower head not easily move able. No plug sockets next to mirrors,hair styling done in one location and only standing up. Same with applying make up. Bad lighting. Ended up standing next to window and using own mirror from makeup bag. skylight in 2nd bedroom in awkward location. Another property can see directly into both rooms and no privacy in 2nd bedroom as broken blind. Leaking roof onto bed!!!

Having stayed previously, we booked the Neptune suite, for 3 people and our dog. Breakfast and service were first class. Because we were at the top of the building, the roof blinds were useless, letting in light and not fitted properly, def needs replacing, in both rooms. Not enough storage in the small bathroom, especially for number of people.

spotlessly clean throughout all areas of the hotel . Its an old building so not suitable for anyone with mobility issues as most floor uneven and stair access steep.
Rooms are quirky with steps and low ceilings , and small windows : if you love historic buildings you will love this . .
Our room was above the kitchen , so it was noisy during service but the hotel offer a 10.30 pm quiet time which was appreciated .
Breakfast was super with good vegetarian selection .

value for money : well it was good but pricey but there is limited choice in Dartmouth itself and the location was superb for exploring the town. We had no problem parking nearby although in main season this may be more challenging .
all the staff were polite , attentive and smiley, yeah !

Lovely place to stay in a perfect location of the town. You can park your car for the weekend and just walk around the town and easy access to the south west coast path. Very dog friendly and a nice greeting on arrival. Very comfortable beds and rooms and a great breakfast. Definitely would return.

The hotel was beautiful and the area it sits in was even better. I must say I was slightly annoyed with the email I received prior to arrival which said there was no on site parking and gave details of various car parks in the area because I’m sure my original hotels.com search had that as a criteria but when we got there one of the staff members volunteered to move his car so we could park uninhibited for free all weekend, I didn’t get his name and had no cash on me but he was a massive reason for the tip on check out. Staff were all lovely and very helpful but Georgia really made our even meal a treat, so lovely and helpful and offered to bring deserts up to our room. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful and quality of food and drinks was top notch. Highly recommend Bayards Cove and Dartmouth generally, hadn’t been before but will definitely be returning.

I had visited Dartmouth about 28 years ago with my mom and dad. The Bayard Cove Inn is located very close to the house where they would stay for a month when visiting from America. The Inn was a perfect place to bring my daughter and 2 granddaughters to give them a glimpse of what living in an English coastal village is like. The girls got a memorial view of a place that I have very fond memories of with my parents.

Very good hotel. Friendly and helpful staff, excellent food and though an old building it was all in good condition. Having read that parking might be a challenge we parked at the park and ride. This worked well with a very regular bus; though plenty of pound coins were required for the £5 daily fee as the machine did not take credit cards. Note: telephone payment is also an option.

Lovely setting, cosy hotel with friendly and helpful staff. Rooms are a little small perhaps but comfortable. Food is lovely with a good menu choice and a great breakfast with quality produce. Only issue really is the limited parking. Out of season there is parking on the streets around the hotel and along the front but from May to September it will be a nighmare. Great location right next to the lower ferry.

We stayed for two nights in January and thoroughly enjoyed it! Bayard’s cove is a delightful retreat in the heart of Dartmouth. Our room, ‘The Fisher’ was well equipped and very comfortable. The included breakfast was top quality and the coffee was fantastic - proper barista style. What really made our stay so enjoyable was the staff - everyone was so friendly and welcoming, we felt a real family spirit and nothing was too much trouble. We will be back one day!

Hotel is in a great location and the building itself it’s really fantastic. The pub downstairs is nicely done with good service. The food was decent, breakfast was excellent.

The room we had was nice and big, and generally a really pleasant place to be.

Issues
1. The room we had was located on the same floor as the kitchen. There is no air conditioning and so in the summer the windows need to be open and there was significant noise coming from the kitchen.

2. There appeared to be a store room also next to our room with staff getting plates etc back and forth to the kitchen. Again this was a little noisy.

3. There is no mobile phone signal in the room, the free Wi-fi provided is quite poor and there was no phone in the room to make phone calls. This was frustrating when trying to book somewhere to eat as we had to walk outside the hotel and phone from there.

4. The seagulls are pretty noisy. The hotel does supply ear plugs but it’s still quite a pain.

5. No room service - given the difficulty of finding somewhere to eat at short notice the lack of this was a pain.

Overall a lovely hotel, excellent service but given the price let down in certain areas. I would expect a bit more for the price. Things like no free shampoo etc

I could recommend the food which was excellent and the service too. However a big let down on the accommodation. A few extra touches were good but there wasn't a chair in the room, nowhere to sit. Bathroom could do with a basic shelf over the wash basin. Couldn't easily hang up towels on the heated rail as it was behind the loo and high up. Bedside lights too large for the tables and impossible to read in bed as they were so dim. No hooks in bedroom.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Thankfully we booked one of the two garages as parking is difficult to find in the vicinity. Staff were very friendly and service good. We particularly enjoyed the breakfasts, such a good choice and cooked beautifully to order. Dinners on both nights of our stay were excellent. On my birthday the staff very kindly treated us both to a slice of cake and I was also given a glass of proseco. We would recommend a stay here and would go back again. Dartmouth is a great place to visit with lots to see and do.

Bayards Cove is comfy, welcoming and full of character. We had a family suite at the top with a side view of the castle and bay. There was nice touches in the rooms like crabbing buckets and sweets for the kids, nice tea tray with fresh biscuits, tea leaves etc for the adults. Additional room was great for 11 Yr old whilst 14 Yr old was on pull out double bed in main room as he was too long for other bed but he is 5'7\"! Plenty of DvDs available for kids. Breakfast excellent! Made use of private parking space available, well worth the nominal charge, just around corner and secure. Would recommend!

What a wonderful stay for my husband's birthday. A genuine friendly welcome. All staff were friendly and really helpful. Our room - Raleigh - was beautiful with a very comfy bed, fluffy towels and lovely selection of complementary drinks. The selection of dishes for breakfast was amazing and beautifully cooked - wished we had stayed longer to try everything on the menu. The dinner menu was great and the local fish was delicious. A lovely touch was a couple of cans of water as a travel pack - part of their efforts to be Eco friendly. No wonder they win so many awards - VERY well deserved!
