The room was clean, but the bathroom drain was clogged; the water wouldn't drain properly, it was difficult to get out, it was completely flooded, and the water drained very slowly. We had to interrupt our shower to get the water out, which was very bad. Thanks

Lovely staff. We had 2 very large suitcases and were worried about lugging them up the stairs as there is no lift, however a staff member did this for us, which was great. The room was comfortable, and the view was lovely. We did eat at the restaurant downstairs, but it took an hour to get our meal. The restaurant was packed to the rafters, and the staff were run off their feet (a table next to us walked out) - it seemed that were not enough staff to cater to the amount of people. Apart from that, it was a nice place to stay, and the front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. I would stay there again.

The hotel is very near Holyhead ferry terminal (6 min drive) which is really useful when getting an early ferry. They also have the ability to have a family in a single room as they have sofa beds and extra single beds in the family room. The room was a good size and was clean. On the downside, the hotel is fairly tired inside, and the bathroom door in our room had a huge chunk missing from the bottom of it, which limited its privacy, and there is some truly shoddy decorating in the bathroom. The shower was so low that my husband was unable to stand under it - I just about could and I’m 5ft 3in. All in all it was a comfortable stay, but I felt the room was overpriced for the condition of the room itself. Staff were lovely, however.

Celebrated my birthday weekend - August bank holiday - at the hotel. The weather was extremely hot and our room was in the Tower House Annexe quite close to the beach which we found noisy in the day due to the number of visitors to Trearddur Bay and the proximity of the slipway where tractors were putting boats into, or taking them out of, the water. We unfortunately did not have air conditioning and couldn’t take advantage of our patio either as we didn’t have an umbrella for shade. However, we found the staff to be extremely friendly and helpful and enjoyed two breakfasts and excellent evening meals in the
Bay Restaurant. Would recommend staying at a quieter time and in the main hotel for a future visit. Website could advertise the swimming pool better as I did not realise there was one at the hotel until our arrival.

My wife and I stayed for two nights at the Trearddur Bay Hotel. They only had a sea-view room with balcony left which was a little more expensive. However it was great having a separate seating area and, next time, I think we would probably choose one of these rooms right from the start.

I don’t think we have stayed in many hotels with staff as pleasant and helpful as those here at the Trearddur Bay Hotel. It really helps to make a short break more enjoyable.

We stayed here a year ago and it was good to see standards were just as high. For us the hotel breakfast is a vital part of our stay. I commented before that the cold buffet was very limited and this remains the same. It seemed to matter less to us this year as we are now preferring more savoury breakfasts. The cooked breakfast table service menu is quite brief but, as we discovered, staff are happy to serve any combination of available items. The seating areas for breakfast are a delight and second to none compared to other hotels we have stayed in.

We did not eat in what I think is the hotel’s main restaurant but we did bring our family to the attached Inn on the Bay. This was a disappointing experience. However, I have a left a separate review for the Inn.

Funnily enough before booking the Trearddur Bay, we had been looking for a budget hotel as this was just a short trip. However, our experience this time means we will probably continue to stay with The Trearddur Bay Hotel. It’s worth it.

Staff were very good, breakfast was excellent, room was clean & had good facilities but paintwork on walls & wood work was tired and in need of repainting. Unfortunately our room backed onto the swimming pool plant room so was noisy with the plant running 24 x 7, but I would imagine rooms away from plant would be quiet. Great location by the beach & close to local shops, bars, cafes & restaurants. Hotel has own outdoor bar with garden seating in front of the pool building as well as indoor bar. Make sure to ask for a room away from any plant!

Possibly one of the worse 'hotels' I have had the disspleasure of staying at in my 50+ years of travelling. The standard of the upkeep of the hotel is well below expectations. It is 60's dated. The 'room' I was allocated was 28 on the second floor. Hardly a room for 2 people, it was clostrophobic, cramped and nothing like the stand I suspect it was a attic cupboard that had been converted into a small room. n reality should never have. Very small and dark. The shower/toilet was Example, the seating in the restaurant is in a sorry state, the seats are leather, badly ripped and damaged, this can happen, it they have been in this state for over four years, unacceptable. The hotel has four stars. How it retains the rating is a mystery. The hotel has had investment over the years, but sadly not enough. The owners, J W Lees are aware of the issues but choose not to invest enough to keep the hotel in decent condition. The food was poor, breakfast was worse ( usually the best food of the day) Fresh fruit had run out, asked for it to be replenished, no fruit available! Ordered eggs Benedict, eggs were hard boiled, pancakes were inedible. Got to say the saving grace is the staff, they really care, but my fear is, without investment the may cease to care so much. So come on J W Lees, get you hand in you corporate pockets and sort this out. The hotel is in an enviable position, overlooking Trearddur Bay, so people will always book to stay here, is that why there is a lack of investment?

Our experience arriving at the Trearddur Bay Hotel was disappointing. We booked a Family Room after seeing on the photos (both on Expedia and their own website), that it had a double and a single bed in a corner.
To our surprise, once we checked in, our room had a double bed and a single mattress set up on the floor near the plug sockets, where our 5-year old was expected to sleep. As we put our bags down, a handyman walked into our room without knocking, because he was fixing a shelf in the bathroom. This was past 3pm, check in time, and again there was no knock when coming in.
I rang reception to advise this was not the room type we booked and the duty manager came to see us in the room. Once I showed him our confirmation and pictures of their website he confirmed they only have a family room like that and that it was misleading. However because the hotel was full, he could only offer to show us a smaller double room, so essentially a downgrade from what we had booked. We said no and asked for the sofa in the room to be turned into a bed instead.
Later on trying to put the television on, the screen came up with a network error message.. We again rang reception and someone came up and showed us how to get past the error message. This member of staff told us that this happens all the time and it will happen again next time we turn it on and off.
We booked dinner at the hotel pub and the service was extremely slow and the food was poor... Do not recommend.

Fantastic stay at the Trearddur Bay Hotel with family and our pet dog Ralph. The location is perfect, with a sandy beach only a couple of minutes walk away. Staff at the hotel are friendly, welcoming and go out of their way to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Will definitely be visiting again soon.

How you respond makes all the difference

There was a power cut about 9pm, luckily after we’d finished our meal. There were emergency lights to get to the room and 1 bright one inside (which stopped me from sleeping). That switched off at 1.30am. Had to shower by phone torch light and the temperature was only just bearable. No electric, so couldn’t dry my hair or have a coffee. Had to leave early to find a cafe to get breakfast before meeting a client. I appreciate things are not always under our control.
I realised the next morning I’d left all my toiletries in the shower cubicle. I tried calling but didn’t ring. I emailed and got no response. 5 days later I rang and actually got through. They said toiletries cannot be posted as it’s liquid. They then said they’d check that they’d been found. I got put through to the manager who was stroppy. Said the power had only just been restored and was the reason they’d not responded to my email as they’d not had access. She said someone was calling everyone affected to discuss recompense but still waiting for that call. They were going to check the toiletries but then told house keeping throw them in the bin immediately. Things go wrong but how it is responded to is what counts.

The hotel was in a great location. Sadly the swimming pool was shut because of a storm the weekend before but the hotel did not inform me before my stay and did not offer any gesture of goodwill eg small discount or voucher for a drink/food.
The hotel was clean inside but the outside looked like it could do with painting.
Reception looked a little drab despite some Christmas decorations. Staff were pleasant.
I had a twin room at the rear of the property and the window looked onto a run down courtyard area.
The beds were comfortable, there was a large TV and tea, coffee, water and biscuits were provided.

Our room was of adequate size. The ceiling was low but a large window gave plenty of light. It was a pleasantly warm weekend so we could keep the window open all night. We could hear some chatting from the neighbouring restaurant but it was completely quiet by late evening.

The bathroom was fine though the low ceiling meant the show head over the bath was too low and first time in I hit my head on it!

There was no frig, minibar or safe in our room.

Parking was easy but it was important to remember to enter the registration number on reception’s keypad to avoid a fine from the carpark management company. Reception staff were helpful in this respect.

Breakfast was a mixed experience though overall pretty good. The L-shaped restaurant itself was one of the most pleasant I’ve experienced with comfortable seating, well spaced tables, and large windows. Staff attention was faultless. In terms of food selection it was a little more disappointing with a combination of limited cold buffet and short menu of hot dishes available as table service. Although our choices were fresh, hot and served promptly, I would still have preferred to have made my own choices from a hot buffet. Awkwardly, reception asked us to book a specific time for breakfast. This doesn’t work for us on holiday. Spontaneously we might choose to lie in or, alternatively go for an early morning walk. Reception explained their reasons; apparently kitchen capacity is limited and pre-booking spreads the demand.

Beautiful hotel with fantastic staff. Food was absolutely delicious we eat in the resturant and had lamb it was so nice. Swimming pool was lovely and warm. Nice little break away. The ebst part of this hotel was definitely the staff they literally couldn't do enough for you. Thank you for making our anniversary so special.

Hotel is slightly older but well kept up. Staff was very friendly. It’s located in a GORGEOUS bay with a nice restaurant and bar in walking distance on the beach. Very convenient for the ferry ports too. Recommend for short stay.
