We had a lovely cottage that had a patio and overlooked the courtyard area with Beach view. Room was equipped with a coffee maker freshwater and refrigerator. Very comfortable bed and very comfortable room.

We had a no view room situated on top of the laundry ,adjacent to the maintenance area for vehicles with staff arriving at 5.30am which is early for us to get up in the morning --- noisy . This side of the hotel is next to the entertainment area of the next hotel which is noisy up to 11.30pm. There are not enough sunbeds so you have to put your towels on them before 7am or use other hotels down the beach

We spent 5 fantastic nights at Belizean Dreams. We found the room to be quite comfortable. Rooms were in the process of being updated. Ours hadn't been done yet, but it just needed a fresh coat of paint and new electrical wall plates. Otherwise, it was fine.

The staff was incredibly helpful and found us a lighter blanket when we requested one. Airport transfers were a snap.

The location was gorgeous, and the locals were warm and welcoming.

We only ate breakfast in the restaurant, but the fresh fruit, yogurt, and granola we had was excellent.

All in all, a great place to stay!

Somewhat run down old timeshare nestled between nice resorts.
Staff very nice, trips in area is a commitment to drive.
No sandy beach in front as waves bring huge amounts of seaweeds. Snorkel and dives at least 35 min boat ride away.
Resort calculated my package price wrong.
Booked with Expedia much better offer.
Belize is interesting but the BD charges to much for what it is.

I went specifically to relax and rejuvenate and that was accomplished. The staff are very friendly and attentive, particularly in the dining room and bar area. It was also interesting to see the lawns being raked everyday and kept in great condition and the seaweed which washed up on the beach area being cleaned up an carted away. I would certainly return to this resort.

Even the husbands will like this place!

Very relaxing and laid back. Staff was fantastic, unit was great, food and drinks were yummy, hammocks on the beach were comfy. All units seem to have a water view. Other restaurants nearby were great too. Maybe best cheeseburger of my life was at Loggerhead's just down the street! Back to Belizean Dreams Resort! The staff gets to know you and what you like and go out of their way to make things happen. This was a girls trip but we will be going back with our husbands!

worth trying! Service is superb!

I couldn’t say much for their hospitality. Every staff was warm and welcoming. The room was always kept clean and everytime we came back from a day trip there was always fresh towels folded and arranged in animal shapes. My favorite was the rabbit, I guess, that’s how it looked like to me. The beach is really good for swimming and basking in the sun. If you like to snorkel, ypu uave to take trip into the islands. The room had the basic amenities you would need. Not luxurious but will keep you refreshed once your back on a trip. A few not-so-good things to mention but were really not a deal breaker. The tv reception was very grainy. The internet was very slow and intermittent, at times non-existent. It’s nice to be connected back after being disconnected from the “outside world” all day during the trip. It’s a dirt road leading to the hotel. The atmospehere though is very laid back in contrast to the more touristy location in Placencia. If ypu are going around Belize, you might as well rent a 4wheel suv, cheaper and you get more freedom.

Definitely will consider Belizean Dreams on our next trip to Belize! And I do recommend that you give it a try, too!

The draw backs for this place is the location versus the sites you want to see. Most are 2 1/2 hours away. Also, after coming back from tours, there isn't any entertainment in the evening. If you just want to relax mostly then it is an excellent spot to be, especially with the great staff.

Very beautiful resort!

We enjoyed our stay here last week. The surroundings are beautiful and the staff are wonderful. The assistant manager is particularly great at what he does, making sure everyone is enjoying their stay. I cannot say enough about the quality of the food and the wait staff...all excellent! The outdoor bar area is fun, located right next to the pool that overlooks the beach. Beautiful views from both the pool area and from the rooms. The resort provides transportation to multiple tours in the area. We rode horses through the rain forest and visited the Monkey River which provided opportunities to see multiple forms of wildlife in their natural habitat.

Can't say enough about the staff - super friendly and helpful, offered great background on the area and knew our names after day 1. Family of 4, with 2 kids under 13, just perfect for chilling out. Kids mined all the coconuts they could reach (sorry Sergio!).

Snorkeling was a great trip, the waterfall trip was a tough one for the kids. Would definitely come back, we thought it was a good value.

Off the Beaten Path, Beautiful Place to Stay

We had a fantastic time. This is a small resort with 9, 3-room villas and you get exceptional service. We rented a car and drove from Belize City, it was about 2.5 hrs but an interesting drive. The Hummingbird Hwy had a few bad spots with potholes and broken pavement. The hotel is down a dirt road a bit past Hopkins Village. We had a snorkeling tour set for Friday but the weather forecast was for rain and the staff arranged for our tour on Thursday instead, for just the two of us. The boat ride to Coco Plum Island was about 20 minutes and the island is amazing, post-card like views. Great snorkeling. We also did the zip-line tour at Bocawina Resort about 45 minutes away, it was a blast!

Nice hotel on the beach.

It was easy to get to a flight to Belize Airport. I would recommend a small SUV if you rent a car. It is difficult to get to Hopkins. The large speed bumps and pot holes on the Hummingbird Highway are a distraction from the natural beauty of the area and the local drivers pass in no passing zones. The hotel has numerous tours which are expensive but easy in that you just have to show up. You can relax or keep busy with sightseeing. Hopkins is a central area from which you can take adventures. Hamanasi Resort is just north of Belizean Dreams and has many water related excursions such as snorkeling and scuba diving. There are nice restaurants along the beach within walking distance. The get to the town of Hopkins requires a car. There is good local food in Hopkins.

Only partial negative is access from airport difficult and village is very small without any American-style shops/support services. Would definitely recommend to friends and family.

One of several beachfront resorts south of Hopkins

One of several beachfront resorts south of Hopkins along a thin stretch of golden beach. We looked at several of these, but booked this one because it had good rates and had great reviews. After being there for a week, we would have done several things the same, several different.
Rent a car ( Saving the $25-$50pp transit costs when you book thru the resort will more than pay for the car), leave the airport for the Western Highway before 1pm, drive to the ruins beyond San Ignacio. When it closes drive back to Sleeping Giant. Stay there long enough to swim in the Blue Hole National Park and St Herman cave tubing (much better than the commercial ones ($50pp and there were only the 2 of us + guide) and do one or two of Ian Anderson's trips (which start about 9am, book the day before). Drive to Hopkins (don't expect much here except a few bars and limited grocery store), book morning dives (Paradise & Jonah's Wall were our best ones; and call ahead to do the Blue Hole dive, as they generally only go when they have 8 people signed up), then do the Bacawona zip line and/or waterfall rappelling in the afternoons (20 minute drive, easy to do a dive in the am and the zip line and hikes in the pm). Belizean Dreams was great. The entire staff was excellent. We walked from one end (Hamanais) to the other (Barracuda), checked out the menus and amenities... and, in fact all were great. We dove with Hamanais. We were glad that we were not on the meal plan because it allowed it to

Nice place to visit once!

When we arrived the reception staff was mediocre. I tip the manager who walked us to the room and asked him to continually check in with us and tell us what the town and tours they had to offer. The grounds the maintenance in the restaurant staff were wonderful including the lady that cleaned the room just fantastic! The chef is a four star chef named Luis he was the highlight of the trip. He save this whole vacation for me.

Belizean Dreams was a great place for our family (kids 11 & 14). They went out of their way to make us happy and anything we asked for we received. The food was outstanding, the pool bar with all three bartenders was a highlight, and the front desk made this a wonderful vacation. If you plan on going make sure you understand that Hopkins is a poor area that is just beginning to be built up. This is far from commercial, but the people of the Village were the nicest locals we have ever met. We look forward to coming back.

Relaxing getaway

We stayed for 5 nights and loved it. The room was clean, quiet and air-conditioned. The resort grounds are picturesque and well-maintained. The staff is remarkably friendly, as were the guides for the tour to Xunatunich.

Daily we would ride the resort's complementary bikes into Hopkins village for lunch. The road gets dark in the evening, so we ate dinner either at Belizean Dreams or one of the neighboring resorts. There are plenty of other resorts within a short walk along the beach.

I expected to be surrounded by retirees and honeymooners, but most of the guests during our stay were mid-career couples seeking a quiet getaway. All hailed from either the States or Canada.

We just cam back from an amazing family trip (three children ages 10, 8, 7) at Belizean Dreams and really enjoyed it! The rooms are right on the beach and very spacious and comfortable. The restaurant and pool were both very nice as well. Staff is very friendly and gave good recommendations for local restaurants and tours/things to see, also provided great service. We rented a car ourselves and did day trips to the Mayan ruins Xunantunich (about a mile from Guatemala), traditional Mayan village in Indian Creek, Sittee River, Dangriga, Placencia, all easy to get to by car from the hotel. Would DEFINITELY recommend to a friend as a great place to go to!

If you have never visited Belize before, you should consider staying at Belizean Dreams. It's a great place to relax, enjoy the sun, and witness the beauty of the largest leaving reef. The staff is friendly and they go out of their way to see that you have a great time. The daily adventures offered include ziplining and cave tubing, Mayan ruins at Xunantunich, island hopping and snorkeling at Coco Plum (you must do), Mayflower water and hiking tour (didn't do this, but heard it was great).
We flew into Belize City and took a quick 20 minute flight to Dandgriga. Belizean Dreams will pick you up in Dangriga. From there, it's another 30 minute ride to Belizean Dreams. The cost of the short flight to Dangriga and shuttle to the hotel for 2 people was $425.00 USD. Your other option is a 3+ hour shuttle from the Belize City airport to Belizean Dreams.
We ate all our meals at the resort. You choices outside the resort are very limited. However, we enjoyed every meal.
The grounds were beautiful. The pool was clean. The drinks at the pool side bar were good.
This is a nice place for couples. You can't go wrong.

\"What Belizean Dreams are made of\"

What can I say, in the 7 days we stayed at the resort IT was just fantastic from start to finish. From the moment we arrived and received our complimentry cocktails, to when we left and had all our bags carried to the transfer car, the service we received could not have been better. Such kind and friendly staff made for a truly wonderful part to our honeymoon. The room we had overlooked the pool area and the beach and was cleaned daily and fresh towels given. Had wifi but more importantly it was the staff and friends we made that made it a wonderful experience. This was one time my wife and I could truly just relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings we were in. We would both definitely recommend Belizean Dreams and we'll certainly be returning in the future.

My wife had an injury that limited her mobility. The office staff changed our room to a ground level one and set up a table on our veranda for our meals. They came for our orders, delivered the food, and cleaned up after every meal. They transported her around in a golf cart as needed. The managers came to talk to us to get feedback on the resort which was appreciated.

My wife and I spent a week at Belizean Dreams recently. We enjoyed every part of the experience. The villas are beautifully built and appointed, with interiors and furniture all made of mahogany. The setting is very pretty with a clean sand beach a few steps from our villa. The food was delicious and prepared fresh for every meal, cooked to order. The staff, especially, were great, from the cleaning folks to the kitchen staff, to the bartenders. David, the manager, was always available and very accommodating. We didn't take advantage of all the excursions offered, but enjoyed what we did choose to do. We very much appreciated the way resort staff had things organized, including transportation from and to the airport at Dangriga. We are hoping to schedule a return trip with our children and grandchildren.

Resort was clean and well kept. grounds crews were always doing things. the staff were always friendly and extremely helpful. was windy so no mosquitoes. I glad I went but don't think I would go again. more expensive there than i thought it would be including buying from locals. The locals are very friendly . be prepared to wave a lot as you ride a bike or walk down the roads. :) You should know that from belize city you will have to fly to Dangriga on a local airplane. we took Maya airlines for 275 for both of us round trip. Then you must be picked up in Dangriga to be taken to Hopkins. The hotel wasn't there for us we took a cab there. there are a lot of things to do so have fun!

Off the beaten track, the resort is staffed by the most gracious and attentive people we've ever met. From check in to checkout, our experience was a cascade of delightful tours and activities punctuated with days of ease in the deck chairs on the beach with tropical drinks looking out to their barrier reef islands. It is right on the beach and you'll sleep to the sound of the gentle surf and awake to the birds each morning.

Wonderful staff, felt like a home away from home!

We went to Belize with our 16 year old daughter over February vacation week. Everyone had a great time and our daughter is already planning our next trip back! The resort is small and an oasis of beautiful beach, lovely grounds with outstanding solicitous staff. We stayed in a two bedroom villa with a kitchen- living room area. Could easily have accommodated a family of 4-6. The wood furnishings were beautiful. The kitchen and bathrooms were a little worn but very clean with extra mini- fridges and coffee makers in each bedroom. The tile in the bathrooms was beautiful. There was ample storage places for clothing and personal items, comfortable robes, air conditioning and ceiling fans. The large glass doors in the fronts of the rooms looked out into the ocean and could be opened wide to catch sea breezes. The resort provides free use of bikes and it is a lovely area to bike around. We got up early every morning to go birding. Saw toucans and parrots within a 20 min bike ride. Loved the sunsets over the mountains in the evening (5 min stroll off the resort). Felt very safe to walk and bike around the area.

Great Time...Friendly staff

Prepare yourself for an adventure. Getting there is half the fun beginning with the airline trip from Belize City to Dangriga and the bumpy ride to the resort. We were treated as friends from the welcome drink with Jose to the parting goodbye to Naomi and the rest of the staff. The excursions were great and Bernardo was the best guide you could ask for with his personal insight and sense of humor. The food at the restaurant was excellent and not overpriced. We had the villa stocked with some food and beverages before our arrival and found that to be a great option. The resort is clean and quiet and the beach could not be better. Bring plenty of bug spray because you are close to the jungle. The excursion to cave tubing/zipline was great but if I was to do it again I would opt for the longer cave tubing experience. If you enjoy the zip line there is a longer one closer to the resort. The barrier reef snorkeling experience to the reef and coco plum was great and Chrispin was super. The drive to the mayan ruins is long so be prepared. The food on all our excursions was exceptional. We are already planning to go back and stay longer next time. If you are looking for the pampered self absorbed typical vacation then stay home or go somewhere else! If you want to experience the real Belize and the people of the country then this is recommended. Did I mention that Jose at the bar ROCKS!

Nice Resort in the middle of nowhere

Restaurant has a good chef, who will serve as the head judge for the \"lobster fest\" competition on Placencia this coming weekend.
Grounds are very well kept with nice landscaping
Wireless Internet is available, though only accessible near the restaurant / pool / bar area, not in the units themselves.
Hotel staff are attentive and generally helpful, though not excessively so. Occasional prodding is required for requests.
The beach is well groomed,though the bay itself is unusually dirty due to a Tropical Storm which recently went through the area. The regional rivers carried a lot of upstream mud and debris and dumped it into the gulf, ruining the normally blue waters.
Hopkins Village
The village itself is a dump. No other way to put it, though there are grocery stores (the \"Chinese\" in local parlance) and several small restaurants and gift stores.

The worst part of the village is the lack of paved roads. We were told that the roads were exceptionally bad due to being covered by a foot of water from the recent tropical storm. There are approximately three-four miles of adequate unpaved road from the Southern Highway to the village, and then 1-2 miles of the worst road you have ever seen from the village to the Resort. Pothole central.

Local restaurant recommendations centered on Iris' and the local pizza joint.

We had a wonderful honeymoon at Belizean Dreams

I have traveled throughout the Carribean and this resort is probably the best I have been to. We loved how secluded the resort is and away from the high traffic tourists stops like San Pedro. The food was excellent. Seafood excellent. Jose and Tatu at the bar are great. He has a contagious laughter and makes the perfect drinks.

The bar is located directly in between the pool and the beach/ocean. I recommend checking out google maps satalite view so you can get a birds eye view.

The rooms are perfect. The are like 3 bedroom villas which is perfect for 3 couples going because you can share the kitchen/dinette.

The village has a supermarket so you can stock up on liquor, beer and mixers to take with you and save some money.

We had a pleasure to spent 9 days in Belizean Dreams R. in February. That was our the best holidays ever. The Staff were exceptional, very professional, efficient and polite. We were very pleased with the friendly and always helpful Staff; we were treated like royalty. We had a very good service from cleaning ladies to meals at the resort. The chef and the waiters were excellent. The accommodations were first class (five star ) and very clean. The tours were personable and exciting. We are planning our return visit, hoping to meet the same Staff. Thank you Belizean Dreams Resort!

We found a true tropical paradise in Hopkins

Best resort I have ever been to. The resort itself is small, there is no giant marble lobby where you have to wait in line. The staff is absolutely wonderful, they introduce themselves, and after that know your name and your room number. They cater to your every whim. Luis the chef makes amazing food for every meal and the bartenders Jose and Charles are the best there is. You can tell them your drink, but I found it far more delicious to just let them choose. All the blended drinks are made with fresh fruit and are nearly impossible to find in the US.

The beach is beautiful with kayaks to take out. If you're like us and can't sit still for too long, they offer multiple tours each day ranging from the cave tubing/ ziplining to snorkeling and diving around the reef. If for any reason the tour schedule doesn't work for you, they will set up a tour the day you need it to be.

The beds are comfortable, the rooms clean and as chilly as you'd like. We stayed in the suite with a separate living room and kitchen, but even the single rooms have a kitchenette.

You can get to know the other guests of you please or stay secluded in paradise. And Hopkins really is the friendliest village around. It may not look like much, but everyone waves and says hello and the food in village is delicious as well.

We spent the first half of our honeymoon there, and ended up cutting the last two nights in San Pedro off our trip to return to the Belizean Dreams realizing nothing compares!

A nice not touristy place to stay

The resort was overall really good. There were a couple of small errors in communication of some activities scheduled through the resort and one not scheduled by the resort. Overall a smallish, clean, well maintained resort that is right on the water. Very laid back and not super touristy. The Village of Hopkins was far enough to give the resort some privacy but not too far to walk. The food at the resort was very good but on the pricey side. Many other options ranging from American style pizza to local cuisine was available at more reasonable prices in the village.

Wonderful!!

Belizean Dreams was absolutely wonderful! The staff was amazing and super friendly, especially Adela, Charles and Jose. The air conditioning in our one bedroom stopped working and the manager quickly remedied the situation. The grounds are beautifully maintained. The restaurant has amazing food. We had breakfast, lunch and dinner there most days and were never disappointed. Our house was amazing and the view was even better! I can't say enough good things about our experience. We had an amazing time and will definitely be back!

A lovely little paradise!

This was one of the most amazing vacations we have ever been on! The food is fantastic, the staff are unbelievably friendly and accommodating, the resort is small and intimate, and the location can't be beat! A few things to consider when booking, while Belizean Dreams is an all inclusive resort, Expedia does not book it that way so be sure to contact the resort directly to add the all inclusive element to your vacation. Also, Hopkins is a bit off the beaten track so if you want to be independent, you will need to rent a car which can only be done from Belize City. It is a 3.5 hour drive from Belize City but worth the trip! The resort does offer a wide range of excursions so if you don't want to make the trek from Belize City you will have lots of options to go out and sightsee. Generally though, I was very sad to leave this lovely little paradise and we will for sure return! When you go, be sure to say hello to Charles (the bartender) and Luis (the chef)!

I wish I could keep it a secret...

Let me start off by saying that I'm writing this review with mixed feelings: I want to tell the truth, but am a little afraid to reveal this true gem to all. Yes, that's how great it was! We stayed at the Belizean Dreams the second part of April 2013. The resort consists of 9 bungalows, arranged in semicircle, with three bedrooms each. All have ocean views. The upkeep of the bungalows and the property is almost perfect - it truly felt like a little garden of Eden (bird watchers - you will LOVE this place!). The hibiscus petals on the first day were everywhere: on the towels, on the bed, etc. The staff was great - attentive, accommodating, respectful. Chef Louis - wow! - enough said. This time of the year the beach was hardly occupied - we actually had it to ourselves. Same with the pool, and often - the wait staff (although there were numerous visitors from other resorts coming occasionally for the great food). The place is run very well by the manager, Mr. Gill - he was there all the time, making personally sure that all guests are happy. The experience was so great, that my ONLY concern was that walk-paths around the resort could be more illuminated at night (and I am a rather discriminating traveler). Can't wait to get back!

Great Resort and friendly staff.

The staff and resort at Belizean Dreams were fantastic on our family spring vacation (march 2013).
We stayed in one of the 3 bedroom villas which had lots of space for our family and was clean, and had A/C!
We booked many of the excursions ahead of time with the resort due to possible crowds at some sites, (River boat, Cave Tubing, zip lining, and fly fishing). it was truely a VIP experience skipping some of the long lines from the Cruise ship tours.

Perhaps the best part of the resort are the Staff. Everyone from the front office, restaurant and bar, and even the grounds keepers were friendly and took the time to learn and remember our names. Good friendships were formed which is always an important part of visiting some place new.

I hope others have the same great family experience we did on our vacation.

Beautiful Resort, Nearly impossible to get to.

The resort was beautiful, the service was great and the food served was tremendous, however it was nearly impossible to get to. If you choose to drive from Belize City like we did, it is about a 3 hour drive with the last 1/2 of the trip on pot-hole ridden roads, some paved and some dirt with some so bad you can only travel 15 mph.

Heaven on earth for family

This is a really great hotel at a very beautiful place - even for a family with three kids. A bit like heaven on earth. The staff is extremely friendly and always at your help. The only \"negative remark\" we have to make is in regards of their restaurant. They have a good choice of different breakfasts which are all very good. But they should \"improve\" their dinner menu. We have tried other restaurants which are within reach on the beach offering a better choice and a higher quality. Nevertheless, it is a place which we would recommend to our friends without hesitation.

In the middle of nowhere

The resort is very nice but very basic. No TV or wifi in the rooms and for several days there was no wifi at all due to an electrical storm. The village of Hopkins only has limited items so make sure to bring everything you need. The resort doesn't offer much in the way of helping you get out and finding things to do outside of the services they provide but their staff are extremely nice and made the trip much better than it could have been. If you're looking for a rustic place in a remote location to just sit back and relax then this place is for you.
