Food was very expensive for what it was. Standard price room was noisy at night (walls were very thin). It was clean and the staff were very friendly, but more could be done with the grounds eg sitting areas in different locations. On balance, probably not worth syaying when the activities (eg the amazing ziplining and the waterfalls) are within easy reach of accommodation along the Hummingbird Highway and beyond. It also felt odd to have to pay the park entrance fee when we were staying in the park - could have been included in the price of the hotel.

Friendly, helpful staff. Beautiful grounds. My wife is vegan and chef went above and beyond to ensure she had balanced and tasty meals. If you are interested in hiking the National Park this is the perfect place to stay.

I LOVED my stay at bocawina - the best staff, very accommodating & friendly! This resort is a little piece of heaven in Belize - it is not a fancy 5 star resort instead an eco-luxury resort where you can fall asleep to the sounds of the rainforest, go for peaceful walks in nature, or intense hikes, live on the wild side & zipline or go waterfall rappelling or even do a night hike! If you love nature you will love bocawina! I cannot wait to go back!

Our driver to and from the Dangriga airport was the standout for us. His name is Rio and he did an excellent job of making us feel welcome and also sharing his rich culture of the Garifuna community. We shared laughs, were told incredible stories about animal encounters, and were treated like family since the moment we landed. The staff at the resort was really helpful, friendly, and gave their best effort to meet all of our requests and answer our questions. We truly appreciate the time we spent there and we hope that the next lucky travelers feel the same. Thank you Bocawina!

First off Expedia did not take first payment like they had marked on our booking so when we got there we had to pay the full amount. Witch was double what we expected and that made it to were we could only eat a meal a day. Then the prices at the resort were not clear so things were more expensive. Dead insects on the floor generic frozen bagged food at top dollar like breaded chicken with a touch of sauce some rice a pasta salad was $26 usd not happy with this place. Just an all over joke of a place only beverage that you get with a meal is water nothing more. Being in a national park is nice but not when everything to do cost stupid money. I would never recommend this place to anyone.

I can’t say enough about the friendliness of the staff! Such a lovely group of people! Our room was clean and comfortable. LOVED the sound of the jungle critters day and night. Had some heavy rain moments, but it was refreshing and beautiful. Easy access to hiking trails with spectacular jungle views and waterfalls. The zip line was one of a kind! Highly recommend this resort for those looking for a jungle experience. Important tip: bug spray is a must! There are little black flies called botless flies that take a bite that is noticed but not painful, but the itching is irritating for days! Other than that, absolutely wonderful!

In general, I found it to be overpriced. The \"suite\" was not really a suite. No TV, no AC, no fridge. Very isolated -- you have to eat there and the food is expensive and charged in US $. The food in the buffet dinner was good but the breakfast was frankly bland and the coffee was not so good. The furnishings are a bit tired.

The staff was very nice, accomodating, and friendly.

The resort is beautiful! Lovely grounds with rainforest surrounding and opportunities to view wildlife on the property. Amazing waterfall hikes. The staff were so caring and involved in our stay. They made certain that we understood the trails and where we were going. The Wild Fig restaurant was very good with several options each night. We stayed in a basic room. It wasn’t fancy, but it was clean and comfortable. We had an amazing experience! If you are looking for an adventure in the rainforest, this is your place! Highly recommend!

Bocawina is well run. They cater to customer needs without being pushy. Their staff are all local and they try to find other guides if necessary to fit your desires for your vacation. The property is very attractive and clean. We had no problems with bugs in the room. Overall, a very nice place.

This is one of the most beautiful properties in Belize. You can see mountains all around and the grounds are green, lush and well kept. The rooms are nicely maintained and the staff adds a beautiful personal touch with all the fine details of flowers in the room. From the curb side welcome signs to the room trimmings its a wonderful experience.

This was a wonderful stay in that the location was beautiful, the room was very nice, clean and comfortable, and it was amazing to be able to be able to walk right out the door to a variety of hiking trails. We were very happy with everything until we went to check out and were told that the night hike we had verbally been told by a staff member was $40.00 USD was actually $106.00 USD. While I'm not exactly sure what happened as far as the miscommunication, I do know that the two staff members we spoke to regarding our shock were not at all helpful except to say we should have known what the real price was, and that is the amount they charge. I do take some responsibility for not asking multiple times and/or multiple people what the price was before attending the very underwhelming hike, but I don't feel that as a guest we should need to triple check everything we are told by the staff. If they had made any effort whatsoever to help make us feel like they understood that a miscommunication happened, we would have left with a positive impression. Instead our feeling upon leaving a five night stay was of upset and confusion.

The resort is located with the Bacawina rainforest
There are plenty of worthwhile tours or you can hike on your own. The trails are maintained by National park rangers
It is a safe place- there was no evident crime or any immediate danger from the wildlife
Definitely bring bug spray
The suite at the resort was spacious and clean, however, there is no air conditioning and it tends to be very hot and humid and not much of a breeze
The food and cocktail menu at the restaurant is lumited but the food and drinks were good

We really enjoyed our stay here. The property was beautiful. Our room was clean and really nice with a screen porch that we sat on every morning to listen to the birds. Coming from Colorado we were really hot since there’s no air conditioning but it is a rainforest so we dealt with it, had 2 floor fans and a ceiling fan. Hiking was great, trails are well marked. We did the zip line which was amazing flying at or above the canopy. I have a fear of heights but they make you feel very safe. All staff were friendly and the food in the restaurant was really good. No complaints here!

The staff was fantastic. Incredible. Friendly and responsible. Wildlife everywhere. Activities were great. Take some care if coming during early spring as the heat can be tough. (No AC).

Being in a jungle location, the place had beautiful surroundings. Our amply-sized room had all the necessary amenities (large shower, space for 5, coffee, etc.). The on-site restaurant had good food and the staff was excellent throughout the property. Our highlight was the hike to the several waterfalls and cooling off there. Loved it.

Pros: The property is beautiful (in the middle of the national park), there are lots of activities, and the food at the lodge is quite tasty. Cons: no a/c in the rooms and the activities were QUITE expensive--$50/person for a hike! So while it was a nice place, it seemed overpriced compared to other ecolodges in Belize. Also the main trail in the park was very poorly maintained (park service responsibility) so just beware and pack long sleeves and sturdy shoes or you will get cut up quite a bit.

The resort was very accommodating, the restaurant is delicious, and the environment of being in the rainforest is truly amazing! The rooms themselves are fine but nothing special, but you really don’t need to spend much time in them. There is a ton of outdoor activities here and easy to arrange. I would stay here again.

Memorable jungle stay!

Our Bocawina resort stay was excellent. It got off to a rough start just finding the place because of the lack of signs once on the jungle road. This is probably only an issue if you are driving yourself.

The resort is beautiful with manicured gardens and traditional thatch roofs. There are ziplines that pass through the resort and further into the jungle so you can watch the adventure seekers zip past! In the mornings we watched the humming birds (I saw at least 4 species) visit the flowers and listened to the singing birds...spectacular!

The room was comfortable. We were in a standard room. Housekeeping does a great job. The bathroom is a bit dated but has everything you need. Note: there is no air con, but it was not an issue for us. There were adequate fans to cool us down.

Probably the best part was the incredible hiking you can do so close to the resort. We hiked the Bocawina trail for about an hour until we got to a waterfall pool and took a swim! We saw ocelot footprints and a variety of jungle birds. Mosquitoes are plentiful (the resort is in the jungle) so anytime you leave the room I recommend using bug spray.

We ate breakfast and dinner at the restaurant. The resort grows most of their fruit and vegetables and the taste was excellent! We had the fry jack breakfast and it was more than enough to share. For dinner we had the snapper fillets, which were delicious.

It was a beautiful place nested in the Mayflower Jungle and the cabanas and rooms matched the environment perfectly. People and staff were very hospitable especially Caralee and Mr. P. The people at Wild Fig were so kind and food was great. The excursions were well organized and adventure staff were fun. Only thing I would suggest is to have more Belizean type food.

Upscale Rainforest Paradise

Fabulous place! Truly a bucket-list experience! The resort is beautiful; immaculately manicured grounds with beautiful native plants. Room was very nice, this is definitely a high-class place for Belize. The restaurant had delicious food! Service was exceptional, Caralee and Darwin at the front desk and Reina and Ragner in the restaurant were all extremely friendly and accomodating.

The park that surrounds the resort is the reason you come obviously. What a treasure Bocawina is! Gorgeous, healthy rainforest; amazing waterfalls, endless flora and fauna. We saw a crocodile, a coatimundi and a pack of pecaries all within a couple kilometers from the hotel. The trails are well cleared and marked, easy access to the rainforest is great! Bring your DEET!

Beautiful property with friendly, helpful staff! However, we stayed 3 nights which was too long - there is nothing to do in the evenings, and the restaurant is extremely expensive (although very delicious food). Highly recommend bringing your own food and drinks to save money, as we were shocked the amount we spent for a few meals while there with no other options for 3 full days - whether just your lunches or snacks etc. the hikes were great, but we wished we had stayed two nights (or even just one) as two days of hiking were enough even with zip lining. Overall, beautiful spot with excellent hiking so delivered for what we wanted, just be prepared it is isolated so not to stay too long. Had we stayed one night only with two full days, the expensive food and quiet night would of been fine in a small dose and I would have giving 5/5 review!

The location of the resort inside the park is really great! The grounds are well maintained and the lush jungle vegetation and huge trees are so beautiful! Great hikes to waterfalls starting right there. Birdwatching right from your room porch. What wasn't so great is how basic the basic rooms are... They feel quite dated and aren't too inviting. But they served our purpose of being inside the park. The resort's restaurant served good food but was overpriced for Belize ($20 US main dish plus taxes).

I really enjoyed staying here, because of its location right in the middle of the rainforest. My family and I came to Hopkins to do hiking, ziplining, swimming and such, and had no idea the resort is where all those activities are available! It was a great experience, we definitely recommend staying here.

This was the best hotel that I have stayed at in Belize. It is nicely secluded in the middle of the forest. The grounds are absolutely beautiful with different aromas from their variety of flowers. There is plenty of adventures if you want to join a tour. We just decided to go into one of the two jungle trails on our own, which were nicely marked. We ate at the restaurant and their special was fantastic. I plan to stay there again in the future, but a longer period of time. I don't know if they have weddings there, but that might be the location for me.

Located in the Mayan mountains. A pretty location. Rooms are two beds and a bathroom and that is it. Very barebones. The Fig restaurant was nice, the food good but overpriced and nowhere else to eat nearby. The staff was friendly. Mosquitos abound. Great zipline experience at the resort.

There's so much to do in this area. The only issue we had was that the internet kept going in and out. The staff was accommodating to my dietary needs and the food and drinks at the restaurant were delicious. I would definitely recommend this place.

Beautiful grounds with many flowery trees that attracts many birds and butterflies !
Very kind, helpful staff. Rosa packed us a great snack of watermelons for our hike ! Good restaurant food but overpriced . Beautiful waterfall hikes all around the resort with a Zipline too.
Heard monkeys but couldn’t see them likely since it was a newer reserve with not a lot of monkeys and likely they are not as accustomed to people yet. Clean, simple room with fans but very hot since it had no AC.

I adored this place! the hammock on the porch was perfect for reading and listening to the rain, the restaurant was absolutely delicious, some of the best food we had on this trip and the staff were all really great.
We loved the hike up to the waterfall, it was the peaceful, relaxing night we were looking for.
Wifi is very weak in the cabanas but it didnt really matter to us.

Boca llena was a fabulous place to stay in Belize you're in the rainforest what does zip lines waterfalls. The staff was wonderful restaurant presentation was excellent. The wildlife unbelievable around the area. Being in the jungle there are bugs so remember to bring bug spray with DEET in it not the family kind. It was an experience of a lifetime I would totally do it again. We stayed in the family room which was plenty big for all of us. Whether you're on an adventure or you just want to go someplace peaceful this was a wonderful Resort.

Great Adventure!

If you are looking for luxury this is not your place, but if you want a great adventure this is definitely it! Samuel and Roberto were the greatest zipline guides ever and Wilson shared lots of interesting facts about the birds and plants all around us. We loved the hike to Bocawina Falls and even found a Jaguar paw print. It was all great! I will definitely return.

Beautiful, tranquil location

The setting for this resort was one of the most beautiful I have ever had the opportunity in which to stay. The lush rainforest was teeming with life and I would awaken every morning to the sounds of birds, and sometimes monkeys. This is the rainforest so be prepared for bugs also. Spray your body often if you want to avoid bites. The food offered at the dining room was amazing every time we went and the servers were always pleasant and kind. Had we stayed longer I would feel they were part of my family. We tried a couple of the activities offered at the resort and were not disappointed. We also had the pleasure of meeting the owners who were kind and greeted us daily. “Mr. Don”, as the staff affectionately calls him, asked every day how our stay was, and if we were enjoying ourselves. It was an amazing experience and one I will cherish for years.
