We very much enjoyed our night at theThe Porches Inn. Check-in was easy, the room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The shower was the best rainfall shower I have ever had and we even had a claw foot bathtub! The only drawback to our room was proximity to the main entrance door of the building which could hear opening and closing. We would have liked to use the exterior hot tub but it was not available due to pool renovations. We were able to enjoy the sauna and shower as an alternative. The breakfast was ample for a \"continental buffet\". Lastly, the free car charging was a life saver! I hope I have the opportunity to visit again.

It was a great stay at a place that was a cut above the usual hotel stay. Breakfast was provided but we only ate there 1 day for we wanted to experience things away from the place. There are many delicious places to eat for breakfast so try it. The location was perfect allowing for walking around whether to MOCA or finding other shops. While we didn’t bring our dog along this time, perhaps we will next time.

The Porches is a super cute and unique place to stay. The rooms are cozy and shabby chic. I loved the proximity to MASS MoCA, the outdoor heated pool and hot tub, and the truly excellent continental breakfast (local organic yogurt, smoked salmon for bagels, great scrambled eggs and potatoes...)!
However, our room location nearly ruined the experience for us. We were in room 26 in the yellow building, just above the open reception area and entry/exit door. We got back around 10pm from a concert at the museum, and could not fall asleep until about 2am, as we could overhear other guests coming and going, checking in, and every time the door closed, it would slam shut. I was lying awake and in tears for hours. We tried earplugs, a white noise app on my phone... but if we ever got close to drifting off to sleep... SLAM! the door would shut and the room would rattle. We finally got just a few hours of sleep before morning activity started. I couldn't believe there was so much coming & going for a small inn. And if we had wanted to sleep in... no chance, this room is right above the breakfast room and we could hear guests chatting and dragging their chairs.
I've stayed in hundreds of hotels in my life and *never* had such a loud, bad night of sleep.
At check out, the front desk staff were conciliatory and offered us a discount on a future stay... and I would love to visit the area again. I just wouldn't recommend this specific room to anyone who can't sleep through noise.

Wow. This hotel is such a great find. Not only is it clean and unique, the rooms are large and the staff are super helpful and nice. Breakfast was nice. The pool was slightly colder than I expected but it was 5 degrees outside and windy so its understandable. The hot tub was very comfortable. I would love to stay here again. My kids said this is their favorite hotel we have ever stayed at which is high praise since we travel frequently and have stayed in a ton of hotels!

A wonderful property with excellent amenities. The heated outdoor pool and sauna were clean and easily accessible. I travel with my small dog and my room was great. They actually upgraded me to a suite! I would stay here again without question. It is across the street from Mass MOCa, an extraordinary museum. Staff was courteous and helpful.

My room was so big! Very clean, huge bathroom, claw foot tub. Highly recommend this place. It had a great vibe. Was not industrial like a hotel, had a very clean and comforting feeling, like you were visiting a relative. I stayed here for my brother’s wedding at MoCA. Great experience all around. Definitely will be back.

The unique interior deign and furnishings are definitely the selling point. Unfortunately, we had not stayed there before, so when we booked, we didn't know enough to request a room removed from the main reception. Ours was above the front desk and breakfast room. Door slamming, dining chairs being pulled in and out, dishes clanking, staff chatting and eagerly engaging guests all contributed to disturbed rest. Not anyone's fault per se, but stay away from those rooms!

NOISE. The hotel is just a sidewalk away from River Street in North Adams which is heavily traveled by trucks and speeding loud vehicles. Impossible to sit and enjoy the front porch in conversation.

This place is a real gem in the heart of the Berkshires. It is about a 7 minute walk to Mass MOCA and about a 10 minute walk to their \"downtown\" area with shops and restaurants. It is about a 30 minute drive to Mount Greylock, the highest point in Massachusetts. The rooms are very spacious and very clean and each room has a porch you can enjoy. One thing to note is that there did not seem to be elevators for getting to the second floor, so dragging luggage up and down was kind of a pain. Very helpful and friendly staff, great breakfast included with your stay, and actually good coffee. 10/10, would stay again.

Happy Stay at The Porches

When it comes to rooms, we are typically a “you get what you get” couple. Meaning-we take the room that we are assigned. The Porches proved to be the exception.
After returning to the front desk because our room was too close to the road in front of the property, we were offered another room in a more quiet area. The front desk greeter and Manager were very accommodating which we appreciated.
The decor of the hotel is what might be described as “shabby chic”. No complaints other than some of the “vintage” furnishings seemed more like Goodwill than flea market or antique store acquisitions.
The room was fine, mattress was medium firm and the pillows were fluffy. Good thermostat for regulating temperature and extremely quiet HVAC system. Hot water came out quickly from the shower head and nice touch with the Porches custom bathrobes.
Breakfast was very nice - Bagels, cream cheese, smoked salmon, locally produced yogurt, Vermont cheese, freshly cooked scrambled eggs, roasted potatoes, etc. You get the picture.
The hot tub was very pleasant and a nice way to meet fellow travelers. Although we didn’t go into the pool, it looked very clean.
A nice getaway in a lovely area.

We went off season and it was very expensive for the size and condition of the room. Since it was mostly empty I would've loved an upgrade offer. I had to call the front desk and the phone was so sticky and dirty, one of our robes was dirty, had Chapstick in the pocket and food stuck to it. Lastly, the breakfast wasnt as good as I had hoped. It said hot breakfast but no meats, other than cold salmon. For the cost, I had higher expectations and was bummed out because I paid more than I normally do for a room.

The staff was kind but the overall hospitality was subpar for this nightly rate. The sauna area has no towels or soft carpet in winter weather, the \"lounge\" smelled like mildew and had some repair work laid out in the middle. A hot pot of water or coffee during the day would cost little and go far. Probably much nicer in better weather

The hotel blends just the right mixture of “old” with all modern conveniences and the grounds are lovely. Our room didn’t lend itself to one person watching TV if the other person wanted to do something else - it was a bit small for that.

We spent a couple of nights there with our doggie. It was very comfortable and relaxing. The room was very clean. Loved the design of the hotel, and the grounds are very well cared for. There is a fenced in dog park right next door. We had to be careful not to bring the pup into inside areas where the other guests were. A bit restrictive but worth it to follow rules so we could travel with our fur baby. Breakfast was great.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Porches Inn. We both grew up in the area and it’s wonderful to see these Victorian row houses with new lives. Our room was very comfortable and clean and the decor unique, tasteful and respectfully done. Loved rocking in the chairs on the porch each night and looking at the lit windows of the old Sprague plant (now MASS MoCA) where my dad and grandfathers once worked. Breakfasts were great, staff very friendly and helpful. Overall, an A experience at The Porches!
