We really enjoyed our stay. Easy to come and go, comfortable and cozy. We stayed in the malika room on the first floor and it was pretty quiet. We could hear people coming in from the side but it was all during reasonable hours.
The steam option in the shower was extra relaxing !

Staff- sent text as promised met us on check in- friendly and courteous
Issues: we stayed in Dug. Small cozy room but no place for anything. No closet, dresser, nightstand and only one luggage rack
Same thing in bathroom. Beautiful vessel sink but one tiny shelf and only one glass- we said 2 were staying
Breakfast- big disappointment. Website says hot breakfast but we were told it was just cold. Lovely sunny breakfast room, but we were totally in our own. A loaf of bread, a toaster and a few items in the fridge. We made our own breakfast- ok not a huge deal.
But then Kate started making a hot breakfast in the kitchen. We smelled yummy French toast. I asked who it was for. She said people in another room. I was so surprised. So there is hot breakfast. You have to request it she said. When you make the reservation. I said Indodnt see anything. She said Hotels.com didn’t offer it.
Oh come on!
Either offer hot breakfast or not!
Or tell us when we check in. Give us the option then. I felt like the poor stepchild with my meager piece of toast.
This is not what I call hospitality.
Unfortunately, it ruined a nice stay at a fun quirky place

We had an excellent experience. The location was convenient for our needs, clean, and tastefully done. It's excellent value for the area. It must be said that a younger traveller will probably be more comfortable with the low-touch approach (text check in, code-locked doors), but they've clearly made an effort to be more accessible to a traveler looking for something more traditional.

Great place to prepare for a day hiking and skiing

The Trail in Adams offered me exactly what I needed: a quiet and convenient place prepare for a day in the woods the next day. Very convenient walking to nearby restaurants, right in the middle of Adams. There was a snowstorm that night, and the walks were shoveled several times that evening and the next morning.

Charming, quirky place but clearly not designed nor operated by hospitality professionals and it shows everywhere. Roku is not an OK alternative to cable TV, the sinks are cool looking but unhygienic, the tubs lack handrails, there are no desks in the rooms, there are no mechanical locks on the doors… the list goes on. Parking situation leaves much to be desired. Just too expensive to have to tolerate so many shortcomings. It’s pretty clear that this owner has other plans for this property (likely cast housing for her adjacent theater), and this hospitality things is an interim cash flow generator. Great for her. Not so great for her paying guests.

We loved this place, it was fun, quirky and cute. It felt like being at home, honestly. I have an injury and the staff was able to accommodate an earlier check-in without any issue. The staff was very kind and responsive. My fiancé loved the shower sauna! Awesome place to stay!

The Inn was a nice place - very comfortable to enjoy. Unfortunately the mattress was too firm to be comfortable. There was too much light coming in under the door from the hallway. The red light on the bottom of the TV lit up the room. It was very hard to sleep.

The basic supplies for breakfast were very basic. All four of us chose cereal but there weren't four cereal bowls available.

The location was nice - we were able to walk to dinner. We were there to hike and the trailhead was very close.

Don’t judge a book by its cover. At first look was concerned we had made a bad choice. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful, even though there was no one on site when we checked in. I am an absolute clean freak, I come with my own cleaning supplies, and this place was spotless, no rugs on floors which means so much to me, and had a true “spa feeling”. The one thing that is a little concerning is the parking, there really is none. You park next door at the restaurant which is not so bad, but my husband and I are in our 80’s. Fortunately, we were able to park in the driveway as they were not so busy when we were there. Overall, it is a lovely place to stay.

My daughter and I greatly enjoyed our stay at The Trail. We stayed in the Africa room, which featured an amazing steam shower and a lovely vaulted ceiling. The property was clean, quiet, and tastefully decorated with art from local creators. We will definitely stay again when we are in The Berkshires.

Great stay! The only real complaint is one I've seen from others, the parking situation was a bit sketchy for me traveling on my own. Neighbors on the street we were directed to park on did not seem pleased (got lots of weird looks) and the crowd at the bar next door was really rowdy on Friday night. None of that can be controlled, but it was a weird contrast to the tranquil environment inside and made me think twice about going out to my car at night.

Very nice inn convenient to many fun places to see such as Mass MoCa, the Clark museum, hiking Mt. Greylock. Rooms are all differently decorated. The owner asks for all guests to remove their shoes to keep the dirt outside which keeps things clean inside. Breakfasts are fantastic! All organic food well prepared. Organic, fragrance free, natural products are offered for use in the bathroom. They are all wonderful to use. Inn is tastefully decorated

Sustainable getaway

There's a lot to like about Topia Inn. It is very much a sustainable property, producing its own electricity and completely chemical free - hemp rugs, clay walls. The room we stayed in had a great jetted tub and a floating bed, which was super comfortable. The room was small, however, and the bed took up most of the space, so there was not anywhere to sit except on the bed, so we ended up playing cards on the floor. We were not in the room that much so it did not really matter, but it would not have been an optimal rom if I had to any work while on the road.

Great Dream Poor Reality

I guess that Great Dream Poor Reality translates with my overall evaluation Okay, but below average. Let me explain. The room is nice (if a little 'tired'). But when you think of the price and the grand publicity (an organic oasis....), then the value-price relationship falls precipitously. The service was not existent- literally: the moody lady in charge was absent more often than not; and, scandalously, our room/bed remained UNMADE! I should add that the first thing we encountered on the porch was the inn's caretaker/cook/maid with a friend, drinking and smoking--I'm not a puritan, but when the B&B charges 350$ advertising its fragrance free air and prohibiting alcohol on the premises.... In fact, the lady in charge did not seem to believe in the Inn's philosophy at all. To make a long story short, much as I love the idea behind this B&B, I don't think I will recommend this inn to any of my friends.

An organic inn, really

If you're very particular about clean, allergic to dust or just a someone who likes their inn \"just so\", this is the place for you. Off the beaten track but well worth finding. Excellent breakfast but do not expect amenities like computer and printer or workout room. There are though an astounding variety of teas to choose from. Also be aware of the slippers no shoes inside policy. They do though supply organic slippers for you. And our room had a fantastic bathroom.

Cozy bed and breakfast in the Berkshires.

Check in was arranged via email prior to our arrival. We were greeted at the door and given a brief tour of the hotel. The vegan breakfast each morning was delicious and unique, if a little small. They served very high quality coffee, as well. We stayed in the Zen room the first night, and the Aloha room the second night. Both were very comfortable with very relaxing atmospheres. My only complaint was that the AC was not working in the Zen room the first night, but the hotel staff solved this problem by switching us to the Aloha room. Overall, this was a very comfortable, relaxing place to stay. I would definitely take my fiance here again!

the owners live their values, and follow the golden rule about non-allergenic space and pure food, as one of them is herself sensitive to various substances. the place is unusual, each room done with care, and unique, generous organic toiletries, lavish plumbing fixtures, interesting decor. shoes go in a rack downstairs, slippers provided. breakfast is novel each day and good, veggies handled with care (those in the food, and those at the tables). they are obviously fulfilling a vision of a place they'd enjoy visiting. not much of that in the usual world of overnight stays--yet we're not non-allergic carnivores and we had a great time because it seemed so personal. they weren't intrusive, just thoughtful according to their own clear values.

Synthetic Scent Free Oasis

Lovely. Off the beaten path but if you have issues with chemical and other scents this is your Utopa.........Jon, the innkeeper, was as warm and wonderful a host as anyone could ask for.
For chemically sensitive people this is a haven. If you wear clouds of cologne or Old Spice deodorant, this is NOT the place for you!

Great Inn- better people

This is a wonderful inn to stay in. The rooms are all individually decorated. We stayed in the Iroquois room which was nicely decorated in a Native American theme. The bathroom was superb. It offered the fancy shower head and was also a steam bath. We viewed several other rooms which were all nicely theme decorated. Jon who manages the inn is a wonderful and fantastic individual. The inn is small with only 9 rooms. I enjoyed the vegan breakfast but its not for everybody- don't expect Jimmy Dean sausage links! We highly recommend this inn. Also note its in a great location. 7 miles form the Clark Art Museum (A++) and 2 miles fro mMass Moca modern art museum and 17 miles from Bennington, VT

Amazing stay with our toddler daughter!

We had an amazing stay at Topia Inn. Jon was a fabulous host, breakfast was delicious (of the organic and vegetarian variety). All products in the bathroom are organic, and they had put out baby/children bath products from California Baby and Angel Baby for our 2 year old daughter. Gave great advice on things to do. We went to Tanglewood, Rail Trail, Mt. Greylock and Mass Moca. A fantastic trip all around! Tip: rent bikes for Village bikes and bike the rail trail!

Wonderful Place

Mt husband and I just spent 2 nights at the Topia Inn over Memorial Day weekend. We stayed in the Zen room. We did not have an opportunity to meet Caryn, but Nana was delightful. She provided us with the perfect amount attention while giving us our space. Breakfast we imaginative and delicious. The inn is directly on the Ashuwillticook Rail Trail which is one of the nicest trails we've been on.

We even came away with some new ideas for green living.

We definitely plan on returning.

Although described as an Inn, the Topia Inn is a B&B with wonderful food and remarkable and diverse green rooms and amenities. A wonderful stay, pleasant and relaxed. And very close to the Museum of Contemporary Arts.

Topia Inn as great on return trip

Our first visit left me thinking that Topia was too good to be true; we visited again recently and found it to be just as wonderful an experience. Calm, peaceful surroundings; the cleanest rooms I've ever experienced; atmosphere that supports and promotes health; attention to detail and personal request that goes above and beyond; we forgot to lock the door and since we didn't feel compelled to check (and recheck) didn't discover it until morning. While I don't recommend forgetting to do so, it speaks to the level of comfort we experienced. We already have our next stay planned.

Can't wait to go back!

My husband and I celebrated our one year anniversary at the Topia Inn and it was wonderful! The owners took great care into renovating the place so that every aspect was as eco-friendly and toxin free as it could be, a rare gem! And it showed, it was very clean, excellent air quality, and free of allergens which was a nice treat for my husband who suffers from allergies.

I was a little concerned reading other reviews that the staff would be a bit fussy, but we had no problems at all. We normally take off our shoes at home so that wasn't a problem and I loved not having to pack toiletries and getting to use their quality products, it made packing so much easier! And the bath tubs with the jets were SO relaxing! Breakfast was all organic and delicious! It wasn't a huge portion, but definitely at the top of our list for quality ingredients and taste for B&B breakfasts.

The town of Adams (where it's located) dosen't have much going on, but they are close to lots of good hiking, swimming, biking, museums, movies and good restaurants. It rained most of the time we were there, but we still had plenty of things to keep us entertained!

We definitely plan on going back, maybe it will be our anniversary treat every year!
