It's the best location, overlooking the San Lorenzo Cathedral, a 2-minute walk to the Central Market, and a short walk to the main attractions and the train station.
It was not easy to find a room for a family of three in Italy, so I didn't expect to stay in such a spacious room. The library on the second floor was very beautiful. I wish I could have stayed longer. I would highly recommend this hotel for a family trip.

This is one of the worst “hotel” I’ve been. The hotel is a funky, sad place. Ex: the “hall way” to my room was strewn with old furniture. There is NO SERVICE whatsoever. If you have lots of luggage, best of luck to you.

This is a fantastic hotel. The location is wonderful. It is a very short walk from the Duomo. You are close to it, but not right in the busy parts of the city. The room and amenities were amazing. Friendly, helpful staff. A wonderful experience.

We arrived from the train station right at 2pm. Our room was just barely ready. The woman at the front desk was very kind and hospitable. We went up to 3rd floor via the elevator which is very slow but functional. Be careful as you get in and out of elevator. There are odd steps up and down. There was a very strong sewer smell coming from the 3rd floor especially inside our room. 313. Stay away. Although they helped move us to another room on the 3rd floor, we found the sewer odor lingered for both days we stayed there. It was extremely off putting. Our 2nd room was clean and odor free inside. We just masked our faces in the exterior hallway. The shower was refreshing and the bed was comfortable. We were offered free drinks in the library bar which was a choice of red or white wine or prosecco. The hotel has a kitschy feel to it but is a bit tired. It could use an infusion of capital. For what it lacked in quality it made up for in proximity and convenience. We were in a great central location just 5-20 min walk from most places.

15mins walk from the central station to the hotel, tourist spots are all walkable in the city. It is more like a hostel than a hotel, a bit old and not much furnishing but generally is clean and cosy. We did not see the balcony view as the website shown and actually we did not have a view from the window as the building we facing is renovating. small lift can barely carry 2 people with 2 standard suitcases the max and it runs quite slow... nice to have welcome drinks in the library lab, a nice place to talk and drink.

It is an amazing location however if you are a light sleeper you should bring ear plugs. Please note our room was very close to the Piazza so that could have been a factor otherwise very spacious and helpful staff, small elevator but it was fine and functional.

The entire experience was unique and wonderful from the moment we were greeted at the door. From our arrival , our entire stay was nothing short of magical. We were treated like family by Dominico and his staff, they were fabulous with such a personal touch and they were truly interested in your visit being wonderful. The view from our room looking out into the piazza at the Medici Duomo and the people below eith bells chiming and music yet a very quiet sleep at night. convenience stores right across the street restaurants dining everything accessible by foot beautiful location in the heart of Florence. I could go on and on the stuff for terrific facility itself. The rooms were clean and comfortable wonderful bathroom beautiful bed. I would definitely give it 10 and hurry back! Thanks Dominico and staff, so well done we stayed at five different places throughout her 17 day trip through Italy and this was terrific!

LOVE this hotel! I had an unbelievable view of the Medici Chapel and it overlooked the square. That made the trip so fun because my daughter and I would listen to live music playing and enjoy the activity below. The staff was very friendly and suggested excellent restaurants. Hotel Is close to everything! The room is very simple but clean. If you want an old world vibe in the heart of the city this is it.

Loved this property. Historical building but the rooms were updated and spacious. Our shower had some drainage issues but they came and fixed it. Our room opened up to the Basilica di San Lorenzo so the view out of the windows was just amazing. It does get a little noisy since it’s right by the square and the bell tower goes off from time to time, but it didn’t bother us. My husband used ear plugs. The location was super convenient. 2-5 min walk to the Duomo, 10-15 min to Ponte Vecchio, 10 min to the train station. It was a nice area. We had breakfast included in our stay and it was at a nearby bistro. Such a beautiful bistro and the food was fantastic. Would absolutely stay here again when I go back to Florence.

To begin our room looked out onto the Duomo. Nothing blocking our view, amazing! The family room is spacious and perfect. The area is pumping at night, so not totally quiet. The staff was nice but removed. The lobby needs flowers and a facelift. Walking in was disappointing. But the room was great for us.

I review every hotel I stay at and this one was maybe the biggest disappointment of all time. Before our arrival in Florence we tried to extend one additional night at this Artists Palace hotel before our arrival. Thank goodness they didn’t have a room available.
Apparently this hotel was a Convent at some point in its history and it felt like it hadn’t been updated since that time. I’m pretty sure it was the original flooring in the room and it was dingy and chipped tiles. The place felt like a cheap Hostel that suits those on an ultra-limited budget.
The shower in one bathroom wouldn’t drain and I had to stop my shower so the water wouldn’t overflow onto the bathroom floor, wait 5 mins, then restarted my shower for one more minute to get the shampoo out of my hair.
The bedside lamps were cheap plastic cones and extension cables that hung from the top of the makeshift headboard.
The mattresses were the most uncomfortable ever.
There were stack of boxes and chairs in the hallways, and occasional placements of worn out sofas and furniture in the halls.
The artwork in the room featured broken sculptures that were the cheapest artwork they could buy at a flea market.
Breakfast was at a restaurant 2 min walk down the street and this was actually the only thing we liked about the hotel.

A fabulous place!
It was a real treat to stay here. It was so central and yet quiet at night. The Academia is a 3 minute walk, the cathedral the same and the Uffici and Ponte Vecchio less than a 10 minute walk. Bars and restaurants on your doorstep. Very clean, comfortable and staff just lovely. Tram direct from airport is 35 minutes then an 8 minute walk. Just a perfect place to stay really.

The stairs and hallway to get to the room was the creepiest thing I have ever experienced- I felt like I was in a prison/abandoned building and was scared every time I walked to the room. Part of the stairway was gated off with a pitch black hallway behind (so creepy and scary), and once on the floor, half of the walk down the long hallway to the room there were no lights and it was just a very eerie and uncomfortable space to be. The location is a short walk to many restaurants as well as the duomo which we loved. I would not rate this property as a 10/10 like many others did. It is probably more like a 6.

We had a very nice stay at the Artists' Palace. The front desk staff was very easy to work with, the room was clean, and the location was perfect for our needs. In reading many reviews, there always seemed to be concerns about the air conditioning either not being turned on, or not working sufficiently. We did not experience any a/c issues. Aside from location and a/c, our only other requirement was having an elevator so we didn't have to drag suitcases up and down the stairs. Yes, the facility does have an elevator. Yes, the elevator works. But it is very old, very slow and very small. But it got the job done! We walked to the hotel from the train station. While it was a relatively short walk, it was very hot. The hotel called a taxi for us to get back to the train station when we checked out. And as our check out was quite a bit earlier than our train departure, they held our bags for us so we could explore more unencumbered. It was a very nice stay, and wouldn't hesitate to book again!

This place is right around the corner from the Duomo. It’s in the middle of everything and very convenient in that respect. The room was large and fairly clean. However there were mosquitoes and little flies that seemed to pop up everywhere. I left with everyone bites. Then bed was very uncomfortable it was like sleeping on the boxspring. Thank goodness O was only there for two nights. Staff was pleasant, but there were different folks there and I felt they constantly questioned if I was supposed to be there. Also the place where they served breakfast through the vouchers was terrible. Staff was very rude and food was not great at all. So the best part was location.

The Artist's Palace was a great place to stay while visiting Florence. Sitting in a central location, the prime tourist attractions are never more than a 10-12 minute walk away with both San Lorenzo church and Palazzo Medici being immediately across the street from the hotel. There are many shops, tabachis and restaurants along the Borgo San Lorenzo, which is the main thoroughfare connecting the hotel to the Duomo, Palazzo Vecchio, and Ponte Vecchio. The hotel shares the building with a school but they're generally quiet and, of course, gone in the evening, leaving the Artist's Palace quiet and peaceful at the end of a day. The room's are spacious, clean, and comfortable and the free breakfast at the Osteria a few doors down was plentiful and a great way to start the day.
