The staff at the property were very kind, courteous and very helpful. From the moment we checked in until we checked out a few days later, the staff went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. Unfortunately, this property has seen better days and the facilities have not aged well. the room decor and furnishings are dated and there was mold on the bathroom walls & grout. It was fairly clean, but you can tell that not much as been invested in terms of capital improvements for the past few years. It's ok for a 1-2 night stay as it is within a 5 minute drive from the airport.

Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They provided outstanding service and offered suggestions to make our stay more enjoyable. As a family of 3, rooms with 2 queen beds are on the small side. Bathrooms are also not that spacious in the standard room, so you may want to consider booking a larger room if you like more space to move around. The hotel is a fair distance from the centre, so take 20 USD into account for a taxi trip one way to go out.

The hotel is old, but everything works. It's distant from the centre, but transport is available with notice, and the on-site restaurant was decent. Nice pools against a jungle backdrop, great view from the balcony. Staff lovely, breakfast was set menu but variations accommodated, and different each day. Would return.

The beds however were super hard and uncomfortable. Please try to replace mattresses or use memory foam mattresses.
I was so happy there was a fully operational bar and restaurant in hotel! That way its safer for visitors, just walk back to your room vice driving after having a few drinks 😅. I will definitely stay here again! Hoping beds will be more comfortable 🙏

Was there only a day coming from a liveaboard trip so did not have chance to explore the entire property but the experience with the staff was superb. Extremely friendly and helpful from before earl checkin where we could leave baggage to getting a car for us and checkout later that night and delivery to the airport. The property needs an overhaul but the room was very comfortable. There are multiple opportunities for water relaxation but the pools need to be maintained better. I would stay here again.

The best thing about this hotel was the staff! They were amazing! Very friendly and helpful, especially Gleerie! I felt very well taken care of staying here (I also extended my stay another night.) The hotel is very close to the airport which is why I wanted to stay here. It’s about 20 minutes from downtown Koror but they have a shuttle service or can call a taxi for you or they can help set you up with a rental car. They can also recommend tour companies. Breakfast is included and it’s pretty good. One morning they packed breakfast for me since I was leaving for a tour early in the morning. Had a great stay!

I don’t want to be too negative about this hotel, but it has some very strange quirks. The Airai is a very large hotel, but looks like they only use a few rooms, it is a long way from town, but walkable to a new shopping centre, which has some food options, the strange thing is there are never any customers, this was our third stay, depending on day of the week you get a full resort including a water park virtually to yourself.
Positives: The staff are lovely, so friendly and welcoming. The rooms are spacious, with spotlessly clean bed linen and towels. Good air conditioning, plenty of hot water and they provide limitless free drinking water, they also provide a free airport shuttle. The water park is great fun.
Negatives: The biggest negative for us was the food, with very limited options and virtually no options for vegetarians. Breakfast is not buffet style as advertised, you don’t even get a choice, it just turns up. The water park is old but very functional, hard concrete sun beds and very little shade, strangely you also have to sign in and out your towels even though you are the only guests in the hotel, also be warned on a Saturday and Sunday they hire out the waterpark to locals for children’s birthdays and events, so the waterpark is mobbed by locals, not good if you are looking for a bit of peace and quiet. They offer a shuttle into town for USD20, it used to be free.
I would stay here again, but recommend hiring a car, so you have the option to eat elsewhere.

A comfortable place before a flight

We stayed here after a diving liveaboard for a quick nap and shower before a 2am flight. The hotel is close to the airport and offers a free shuttle so that was nice. The rooms are average but clean and good enough for the few hours we needed it. There is no elevator in the hotel so you will have to carry your bags up the stairs. They offered free breakfast vouchers, although we were not able to take advantage of it. I'm not sure if the amenities were lacking or they were closed because it was a holiday in Palau but many services like the spa were not available. If you're staying in Koror, it's by the airport and not near the city center so something to consider. They do offer a free shuttle to town on set schedule though.

Hotel is recovering from pandemic closure so it needs a lot of maintenance. The room was adequate for a brief stay prior to a 3am flight. Free shuttle service to airport and restaurants is a nice amenity. Water slide pool is closed and other pool looked sketchy. Staff were super nice and grateful for our patronage. Bed was comfortable, A/C worked though control is in a foreign language so it took awhile to figure out how to operate it.

Staff beyond amazing! Helpful, friendly & always smiling! This property is being renovated & the one complaint was that they had only a few cement lounge chairs to use by the pool near the water slides & only 2 covered areas for shade. Had to go & purchase an air mattress so we could hang out by the pool & sitting or laying on concrete was not comfortable. The water slides were great fun! Pool was lovely. Water in pools was nice & warm. Rooms were nice & although they were renovating there was not a lot of noise to disrupt you when you were out enjoying the outdoors. Once renovations are done the restaurant will be functional for all meals. During our stay you got to select from the breakfast menu in advance what you’d like to have. Normally they would have a buffet breakfast but since we were the only 2 there for most of our 9 days there after our dove live aboard they had a pre ordered breakfast. They offered a free once a day shuttle into Koror but note if you go beyond a certain distance they want to charge you. We paid $15 to get to & from the hotel to the restaurant the Drop Off which we felt was a bit unfair since they had burgers & pizza that they could get for lunch & suppers. 9 days of that limited menu was not going to work for us so we got them to take us in to Koror where we walked & had them pick us up at a specified restaurant at a specified time. After letting them know we were not happy about the charge they stopped charging us. A great place to relax

The hotel staff was outstanding during my stay, and I highly recommend this hotel. In my case, I arrived during construction after a major storm. Rather than being inconvenienced by this, the hotel manager and team made every effort to help me with breakfast arrangements, diving arrangements, advance notice of repairs, and shuttle transport to and from town. I wasn’t considering another trip to Palau, but the quality hospitality here and their willingness to help has changed my mind. When traveling around the Pacific, some patience is useful as transport, infrastructure, and services are frequently less than ideal. It is a treat when none of this matters thanks to a good hospitality staff like the team at the Airai.

I stayed at this hotel just one day. The place may have been nice at one time but was well past it’s prime. They had water park facilities but they weren’t functioning, however the pool was open. The restaurant and bar were both closed. Not sure if this was related to the Covid virus but other hotels did have dining options open. Room was spartan and well aged. WiFi only available in the lobby.
I would not go there again.

The staff was amazing and it was very close to the airport. If it were not for the staff, I would have not enjoyed this hotel. They were very accommodating and kind. They carry your suitcases and always welcome you. I recommend tipping them because they deserve it. I highly recommend the pina colada at the bar too because they make it amazingly well.

Sadly, the hotel itself needs a lot of work. Our room's shower was awful. It was either extremely hot or cold. We tried adjusting it dozens of times and there was nothing we could do to get it right in between, so it was miserable.

There were bugs in the hotel because there was a hole in the wall where the air conditioning is.

There is NO FREE WIFI IN THE ROOMS. It's only in the lobby and kind of on the second floor. I don't know why it says you can pay for WiFi. That option is not available.

Resort needs a make over. All facilities show signs of wear and tear. Rooms were a bit cramped with excess and uncomfortable furniture. Chairs in the room provided limited support. Bathroom was cramped. I had to twist and turn to get to toilet because tp dispenser was in the way. No grab bars in narrow shower. Ac blew directly onto bed. Constantly had to turn ac on and off at night in order to sleep. Originally booked in upstairs room but moved to first floor because of bad knees. No elevator. Restaurant was ok but no fresh vegetables. Food was similar to rest of the island and not healthy. Hotel is 3 miles from center of town. Shuttle bus only goes to one place. Staff were very accommodating and helpful.

PRO: Room is clean, Hotel Staff friendly, restaurant price is very reasonable, after 12 days in Palau found out downtown 90% restaurants cost lot more than hotel restaurant, swimming pool is a plus compare with same price range hotels.

CON: no laundry facility, no elevator (four story building), free internet only at hotel lobby.

If wish 4G connection, purchase PNCC service, office is next to Palau airport & very close to hotel, Dec. 2019 PNCC offer 10 dollar with sim card & 8 to 10 G data plus cell number.
or purchase 4G data visitor service at airport booth 10G data 20 dollar.
I had purchased both PNCC & visitor 4G data, both were good in connections & cover Koror + Airai areas.

and BTW enjoy the PARADISE, scuba diving is A MUST.

This is a very nice, clean hotel with a great staff. While an older facility it is in good shape and has a bit of old world charm. The pool and waterslide part is an added bonus. A really great thing we enjoyed is on the weekend small groups of local kids and/or families would come to use the water slides. It was great fun to watch and join them in the fun.

For the price we paid, we had a comfortable stay at Airai.
The staffs were friendly, helpful and courteous. Free pick up and drop off to airport and free shuttle to the downtown area for shopping and dining. Breakfast was yummy. The room was clean and decent size. Double beds were big enough to fit the 4 of us. Everything was provided in sets of 4 for us - towels, wash clothes, tea bags, toothbrushes and toothpastes, combs etc. When we stayed in another fancier hotel that costed twice as much, it only provided us with two set of towels. The AC unit looked new and bathroom was newly remodeled. The hotel itself looks old and it has no elevator. We stayed on third floor but didn’t mind the stairs. The internet is ok in the lobby. We didn’t use the swimming pool and the other facilities so we can’t make any comments.
Overall, we would recommend AWP if you don’t mind not staying close to the beaches. That way, you can save some money from the fancier hotels and join excursions instead!

The staff are all really friendly and very helpful and the hotel offers a great shuttle service to the airport and nearby places. Unfortunately that's where the positives stop. The hotel is in dire need of updating, it looks like it used to be really nice 20 years ago. All areas could do with a good clean and new lick of paint and there's a general demand for some TLC. We found the cooked breakfast choice bland and couldn't eat the cereal on offer because it was covered in ants! (This didn't fill us with confidence about the state of the kitchen). Our room was spacious and we were very grateful for the AC, but again it was let down by its upkeep and cleanliness.
Overall it's a real shame as this place has so much promise but delivered very little.

The staff employed at the Airai water paradise are absolutely delightful. Always willing to help with any problem and will do their best to make sure guests are taken care of. The staff at the reception are particularly special. They are always cheerful and helpful. They remember guests by their names even if it’s just for one nights stay. The property needs better WiFi, but it’s personnel are some of the finest I have encountered on my Travels.

Overall the stay was great. I do wish that both hotels.com and the hotel mentioned that American Express was not accepted. The lighting in the room and the bathroom was too dim for my liking and the room was a little tight on space but I didn't mind it too much. The restroom was a decent size but I don't think the ventilation was working properly. There was mildew in the grout that I wish housekeeping would've cleaned. There is no ironing board and iron in the rooms, just FYI. And there is no laundry facility on site. I wish these were noted in the hotel information as it would have came in handy since we were there for 11 days. There is no elevator, and no WiFi in the rooms as well, but that didn't bother me at all because it was a great disconnect from the world:) Service was great, all the staff I encountered were very helpful, especially when it came to carrying our luggage up and down the stairs. The breakfast buffet was decent and the coffee was pretty delicious so no complaints there. The swimming pool was great. Overall, I am pleased and I would stay there again:)

First—best staff I’ve encountered in all my hotel stays. They are awesome, so helpful and kind. The hotel itself is older but well maintained and very unique. It is rich with Palauan culture, as displayed by the storyboards (including a giant one in the lobby), shells, and other artifacts. The room was comfortable and clean, the pools were fun and clean...overall, really great stay here. Plus the convenience of airport and town shuttles. My only complaint would be the bright lights on the face of the air conditioner in the room. It was like a night light on crack, haha. Also, if you happen to have a child sleeping on the other bed that bumps their head on the light switches (by the pillow), you will wake up in the middle of the night in a blur, as all the room lights pop on.

We were a little concerned that the shower leaked water, but probably the bigger drawback is that it is fairly far from town and not directly on the beach. Shuttle was available, but required a 1 hour notice.

Airai Water Paradise Hotel was a fantastic place for our family to stay for a getaway. The staff were delightful and always available and made every effort to make our stay enjoyable. The pool and winding waterslide was perfect for our boy who had just turned 3 years old and he loved the water. Breakfast was really good - some days were buffets and others were ordered from a selected menu which gave us bigger serves than when the buffet was on. Dinners and lunches were also available in the hotel with a selection of cuisines at affordable prices. We felt very safe at the hotel and were blessed to discover Palau Escape shop in the hotel which offered wonderful dive/snorkelling/adventure tours led by Joe and captained by Francis who discovered most of the sites including Blue Corner and established tourism in Palau. Choosing to stay at Airai Water Paradise Hotel was a highlight of our trip as it was a special treat to stay there and was just what we were looking for as accommodation and it made for a wonderful hotel and perfect retreat from the bustle of Koror. My family had a fantastic stay at Airai Water Paradise Hotel and would not hesitate to stay there again. Thank you to all the staff for a wonderful time!

Do not stay here more than 0.5 nights

Good: location to airport & free airport shuttle
Bad: honeymoon suite smelled of chemicals, toilet did not flush, no cold water available in shower, 1 tv channel
We only stayed here for the night before we flew out of Palau, as we had to be at the airport at 2am and wanted a bit of sleep without paying resort prices. This place served a purpose for us, but I wouldn't want to stay more than 8 hours including sleep.
Very outdated hotel. Staff however, are polite, courteous and are easily the best part of the hotel.

It looks like it was a grand hotel 30-40 years ago. Very impressive entry and grounds, but it is showing its age. Also housekeeping in the bathroom was questionable -- especially shower. Still better than several we saw especially for the price. It looks like Palau is a harsh environment for buildings -- heat and humidity. Staff generally was very helpful and cooperative.

Good for your budget. Great staff.

Great value for the money. Staff immediately responded to all requests and helped with tours. 20 minutes from the main water based tours. Hotel seems a little 'used', many re-paintings through the years. The room was clean and the water pressure was good. There is no elevator and the restaurant is not for a foodie. However, if you want a place to stay so that you can afford to do the day tours and want to go for a swim after you return, this is a great place

Great stay - would go back again.

Hotel personnel from front desk, kitchen / restaurant staff, cleaning services and bellhop / driver were all courteous and very helpful.
The restaurant staff prepared bento boxes for us to bring when we had to leave early mornings for our scheduled dives and were unable to sit down for breakfast.
The staff are the primary asset of this hotel.

More Negatives than Positives

Booked this hotel for 1 night stay as my flight was landing at 1am and it's very close to the airport. The best thing about the hotel is the proximity to the airport and the breakfast that's included. Some major drawbacks in my opinion: no wifi in guest rooms - only in lobby/restaurant; the rooms need to be renovated - they are tired and old; they have to take you in a shuttle to get to a beach although they advertise they have a beach on their website; the a/c unit was difficult to use as the only directions were in japanese; the hotel staff spoke little english (official language of Palau is english). It did save me some money by staying here my first night in Palau, but I do not think I would stay there again.

Great service

The staff were amazing. They went out of their way to accommodate any of our needs. The breakfast buffet was nice. The hotel is a little way from town, but their shuttle service makes it ok. They picked us up from the airport (prearranged) and took us to the airport very late at night. The beds are firm, but comfy enough. Wi-Fi was only in the lounge and pretty slow, but we got the impression this is typical on the island.

Met expectations - Free Breakfast

The Airai Water Paradise was overall a strong \"OK\". The hotel is very close to the airport which can be a plus, but
it is rather removed from the rest of the happenings around the islands. The hotel features a nice pool with some water slides, wait staff will bring you drinks, etc. If you like hanging out at the hotel and looking at the jungle around you, it is
pretty good. The free breakfast is a nice thing too, always good to start the day with a decent breakfast. Chinese guests will make up the majority of the people you will encounter here. If, like me, you want to spend time diving and exploring,
rent a car. The staff can assist you with that. The hotel is mostly wood flooring, it is loud and echos when other guest come and go around you. The staff was always great. There are NO elevators and the stairs are steep. If you have
bad knees, beware. TV channels in room are very limited and do not match the channels showing in the lobby.

We thought it was much closer the the beach. You can see the water from the elevated rooms. Buffet breakfast was plentiful but definitely caters more for the Asian tourists. Staff are all so helpful and are idling to book day trips from reception. For a small fee the shuttle bus will pick up and drop off to any location at any time even though they have a free set schedule into town. Rooms are clean though sheets weren't changed everyday (though the bed was made every day). No elevated

The hotel has hints of what was probably a great resort, but is now dated and not well maintained. Room was clean. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is isolated and there is nothing to do there. A fine place for the money if you are touring all day while you are staying there. We stayed two nights while touring Peleliu, Rock Is., Jellyfish Lake, then transferred to the Palau Pacific Resort. If you desire a resort feel with resort amenities, Airai is NOT the place to stay.

Good for travelling with children

The staff really tries hard to please. They are exceptionally nice. There were issues with the air con in the room, flying roaches and seemingly only korean, japanese and chinese channels on TV. Wifi only in the lobby was good and bad. Many of the features of the water park were not functional and the outdoor bar was permanently closed. The food was pretty good. The staff made up for alot of shortcomings as they were really sweet despite the language difference. They were very kind to our children.

OLD and Stinks

I booked this hotel on line, it is an older hotel of 4 floors with no lift. The hotel is old dark wood and looks quite nice inside. There is not AC in the foyer area and limited AC in the dining room, these are the only places you can get wifi. The rooms are large and have good AC they were clean if not a bit dated. There are only two channels on the tv and no movies etc. The main problem with this hotel is that the rooms stink of sewerage and after a few hours make you feel sick. When I asked for another room I was told all the rooms are the same. If they fixed this problem the hotel would be an ok place to stay. Location wise it is out of town and limited options for getting into town. I would not stay here again, staff were nice.

Quiet spot

I had a nice stay, the service was great!! The staff were super friendly and helpful. The beds were firm to the point of uncomfortable, which was the worst part of the stay. They really need to get the pool bar back in shape, would have made the pool a perfect 10. The food in the restaurant wasn't bad in the morning, but the quality of the food at dinner needs improvement. Everyone working there was great, shuttle service was great. The people really made this hotel.

Not for Scuba Divers

I chose to stay at this hotel due to the pictures and favorable reviews on Trip Advisor, but was disappointed when I arrived. No elevators!
On a scuba diving trip, I brought 50 pounds of gear in rolling bags, but was offered no assistance lugging them up and down 3 flights of uneven stairs.
Food was so-so with no alternatives near by. Only redeeming factor of the place was wifi in the lobby.

Very misleading

According to the hotel website there was a beach and a gym. There was no beach. The gym was a locked room full of old, broken equipment. The hotel is not close to anything that you would want to do in Palau, except arrive and depart (it is next to the airport). The breakfast was decent. The food in the restaurant was ok but portions were strange. For some things, like pasta, I got a normal portion. But I ordered a cup of soup and they brought me a bowl for an entire family, and I ordered ice cream to go with a piece of cake and they brought five large scoops. They had WiFi, but it was so slow that many websites timed out, and only really worked in the lobby and occasionally the restuarant. The room was fine, although it seemed to be constantly damp. The staff were fantastic, though. Everyone was incredibly friendly, helpful, and miltilingual. My understanding is that WiFi is that slow everywhere on Palau, so it is hard to fault the hotel for that - just be warned. So the real problem boils down to the fact that there is nothing at all to do near the hotel - you have to drive, take a shuttle or a taxi to get anywhere.

One night only

It was fine for the few hours between landing at the airport at 2.30 and check out time of 11. We were met punctually and efficiently by their driver and taken there within five minutes. Check in lady was cheerful even then, but the crowd of visitors sitting in the reception/lounge area did not look at all comfortable as they must have either had to sit around the hotel since checking out at 11 until that time or paid extra to the hotel.The overall look inside and outside is of a tired dilapidated, unkempt place and the buffet breakfast was awful - my husband ordered an omelette but when it came he was so put off by the surroundings that he didn't barely touch it. There was no sign of anyone using or having used to two pools but I thought the water (although someone was cleaning) looked a bit too green for my liking.

Close to the airport and good for shorts stays.

Hotel is older and going under some touch ups. I wouldn't say renovations because they are just changing a few things. The pool side bar wasn't open and the only wifi available is in the lobby. The televisions in the room get very few channels and you can often find the two couches in the lobby full of people trying to watch regular programming. The restaurant is expensive and not super great. Nothing really for vegetarians except for the cheese pizza.

However, the staff was nice, they turned on the water for the water slides when the kids wanted to use them, and the free shuttle into town was great. We finally learned our lesson and would just head to town for dinner. Lots of Taiwanese tourist with their kids so it can be a bit noisy. The room was basic but clean. We were in an ocean view suite on the 2nd floor. Air conditioning in the room was cold and the bed was fine. Plenty of room to spread put our things. If you are going to be out touring or diving all day, this place is fine. If you you are looking for a luxury resort to hang out in, look elsewhere.

LESS THAN EXPECTED

The hotel is away from town by the airport. They do offer a shuttle but it is on it's own schedule, not provided as needed, and cab fare will range from $10 to $40 depending on time of day. Wireless internet is available in the lobby only. The pools did not look very clean.
