Nice firm bed with 3 different styles of pillows. Friendly staff that seeks to help out. Nice amenities - body lotion, flip flops.

The hotel itself is very simple and clean, but the guest experience was disappointing. During my three-night stay, the toilet was broken and the drain was clogged, and despite informing staff, nothing was done to fix either issue.

I also booked a two-room stay and later added an extra night. Instead of accommodating this in advance, the hotel required us to switch rooms, which should have been avoidable with proper planning.

Overall, there was a noticeable lack of care and effort to resolve problems. Guest relations were poor, and for these reasons, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. Keep away. Trust me.

The water view rooms all face the bay yet the room selections give you an ocean view as an option. You can see the ocean if you go out on the balcony and look to the right. I selected ocean view for a higher rate which is no different than a bay view hence is deceitful.

Nice pool, nice room. That was it. No breakfast buffet. Outrageous food prices. TV has 4 stations that came in. No movie channel. We also stayed next door at the Cove for a few nights. I would definitely stay THERE again.

Things we liked - Clean and very spacious. The staff is friendly. Good view. Close to diving companies.
Things we didn't like - Tours from the company in the hotel were not as good as others that we separately booked from other agencies on the internet.
The food at the restaurant is merely okay. We preferred bars nearby.
Upon check-in, hardly any instruction was given to use hotel facilities, including the spa and the restaurant.
Although we had informed the receptionist that we intend to use a discount coupon, there was miscommunication and they told that we couldn't get it because they couldn't apply the discount backdated in the system. We were offered aroma soap from the spa for compensation, which had the price tag on (*sadly that's not comparable to the discount we could've gained).
Quite a disappointment at check-in and check-out, yet the overall stay was good.

A real resort hotel with a private beach

This hotel is very well located and has very good facilities ranging from its own beach, swimming pool, pond, to pavilion etc. The staff members are in general very friendly. When needed, they can go beyond the call of duty. On a weekend we suddenly decided to have coconut crab for lunch. Some restaurants serving the crab were closed for lunch, some ran out of crab. One front desk staff member called several restaurants for us until she found one that is open and has crabs. The restaurant turns out to be quite good and eating coconut crab for the first time became a memorable experience for us. We booked several trips with Sam's tour. The fact that this hotel is within walking distance to Sam's Tour made it convenient for us.Perhaps our only complaint is about the WiFi which is slow. In stead of paying to use the wifi from our room we just go to the restaurant or the bar, buy a drink and then spend hours using the wifi for free.

This hotel was pretty nice. Staff overall was pretty good. They aren’t too attentive when you’re dining in the restaurant. Some of the bad things are the costs. Nothing is included, no shuttle services at all. My wife and I had the breakfast buffet one day. We each had a coffee, bottle of water and buffet. The cost was $53!!!! It easy that good either. The beach is pretty nice. Overall nice, but pricey.

Nice hotel, it has the only beach in Koror.

I was there on a business trip, but my wife joined me and we staid a few extra nights. The hotel is one of the nicest in the area. It has a small man made beach. This is from what I could find, the only beach anywhere near Koror BTW. The beautiful beaches of Palau are only accessible by boat. Be prepared to spend $100-$150 a day to get to any snorkeling, or beaches. There is nothing accessible for free. If you go in knowing this, you will see some very beautiful places. The food at the hotel is mediocre, but there are a couple of places within easy walking distance that are good.

Don't contribute to indentured servitude

In all honesty, the only respectable activity to do in Palau is Dive. It's hands down the best diving and I've been all over the world. Sam's Adventures is the outfit to use. The staff are knowledgeable and genuinely love their job. The majority of the other women I spoke with that work at the resorts and restaurants were brought there by 'recruiters' to work 6 days a week sometimes 20 hours a day between multiple jobs under a contract for 2-3 years. They send the money they're allowed to keep back to there families...many in the PI. It's disgusting and the government looks the other way. Not all. But a lot. Very sad indeed. I asked one woman what would happen if she called in sick...she said it's an impossibility. Her 'recruiter' will force her to work and still dock her pay.

Nice Hotel, however internet was not available. They will sell you a $20 internet card but they coverage is lousy and super slow. If you stay at this hotel, go across the street to any store, bar, or other hotel and usually the internet wifi is free and readily available.

Beautiful hotel with great view

Me and my wife stay in an Ocean View room.
The view from our room is magnificent and offer a stunning view each and every morning when we wake up.
The decor is very present and the layout is very efficient.
The buffet is of good quality.
The house reef offers abundant of colors and even has a school of fish!
The service staff are friendly and helpful.
The location is close to many tour operators.

Over all we like the hotel and would come back in the future.

Everything was great but the wireless, but we knew that going in from other reviews... unless you by a wireless access pass... The only slightly negative was the beds were pretty firm. On a $saving tips, if you don't want to pay 2$ per bottle of water and want more than the free one they give you each day there is a market right out the front gate and twenty yards to the left. We also got some great fruit and snacks there.

The hotel is pristine (just like all the Nikko Hotels). The service was phenomenal. Wifi is bad - but it's not their fault - all internet on the island is from satellites. They told me its affected by cloud cover. Even locals have to use the wifi cards to get service. ...don't plan on working while in Palau. Do plan on relaxing and diving!

The hotel was very pretty and had a great relaxing atmosphere. The pool was amazing and the beach was great too. The room was quite large and was nicely furnished. The window in the shower was a little strange, and the beds were very firm. Buffet breakfast was ok. Water was undrinkable, so we had to use bottled water to brush our teeth. The hotel provide two complimentary bottles of water per day, but we ended up needing to buy more at the first shop.
The only real negative was the lack of customer service towards our American group. They seemed annoyed by our requests, but seemed to be very helpful to the other, non American, tourists.

Location was great. We were in walking distance to Sams Tours and a great little restaurant named Kramers. Easy taxi ride to town. Was about 25 minutes from airport. We used the hotel shuttle to get to and from the airport.

Over all the stay was great. Had a great girls weekend.

The room was spacious with a view over looking the beach. United flights from Palau to Guam (gateway to Tokyo) leave a little after midnight. We arranged a late checkout of 6:00PM by paying half the daily rate - giving us a place to shower after being in the ocean and a place to relax before the late flight.

2nd Best Hotel in Palau!

We thought the building itself is a bit outdated but the rooms have been redone and are really nice and roomy. The décor is very modern. The bathroom was super size and had a great tub and shower. The TV only had a few channels but did have CNN. There was no WiFi in the room and in fact you had to go to the restaurant to use it. That was a bummer. The beach and channel view was very nice. I would definitely stay there again.

The room for the 4 of us had enough space but the floor was often left with dust and grit and each day we received less towels. This really exasperated my husband and annoyed me. We were being environmental and only putting towels we used in the bath to be changed but we definitely needed 4 towels a day. My husband told the reception but they did not address the problem.
Fresh fruit was delicious but the tofu and yogurt was off - maybe left in too warm a place....
My husband complained that the wifi was slow but I was on holiday and didn't want wifi!
The hotel is definitely over priced compared to other hotels around the world but I understand that Palau is an expensive nation to visits due to environmental considerations.

Ok nothing at this hotel is included. While the staff was great we ended up paying another 800.00 US in extra. Breakfast is good but they where out of things and charged 20.00 each. Food was ok. Staff made up for our poor food.

Very clean in hotel. They chrage 25.00 if you do not return a towel? Ok so we made sure they got returned on time.

Bar area by pool was nice but bar person kept disappearing? What is with that?

It is owned by the Japanese and cater to the Japanese not the Americans. To bad as next time I will stay at another hotel.

Palau Royal Resort is all good

This facility was well managed. The rooms were spacious, clean, and well provisioned with a travelers needs. The staff was extremely courteous and helpful. The location was perfect for me as I was staying here before and after a dive trip on the Tropic Dancer which was moored immediately adjacent to the hotel property. There were also local bars, restaurants, and a dive shop within a very short walk.

Nice hotel with one of the only two sand beaches

This is one of the only hotels besides Palau Pacific that has a beach. Looking for the best hotel go to PP (beach/pool stays open day/night). Royal pool and beach area only opens until 7pm which is a con but they do have a beach bar that is open until midnight. The rooms are very nice but their beds are not soft. There is a very busy bar 5 minutes walk down the road called the Drop off bar and they have free wifi. THERE IS NO WIFI IN THESE ROOMS. If you are looking for wifi, go to PP!! Royal is also about 10 minutes drive to downtown. Taxis here are very cheap, about $7 US one way. Royal is convenient to SAM'S dive tours which is highly recommended!! AMAZING SNORKELING AND KAYAKING EXPERIENCE!

Motel 6 for Asians

We are Americans visiting Palau to relax and SCUBA dive. This hotel is in the wrong place next to a boat dock that the dive operators won't use. Food is directed to Taiwanese and Japanese tastes. No internet in room or lobby. Crummy view. Lots of screaming undisciplined children. If you are from Europe or North America, AVOID THIS HOTEL. We are now staying at the Pacific Palau Resort....which is pretty darn good.

I stayed in Palau 10 nights- half at a West Plaza hotel and half at Palau Royal. The PR is hands-down a lovely, semi-luxury hotel with nice, clean rooms, great pool, okay beach, great service, good food (but expensive). If you would like a larger beach for swimming/snorkeling from your hotel than stay somewhere else, but otherwise their small beach is pretty. The neighborhood is not great but you can walk to the island's best beach bar/grill and 2 other restaurants and dive companies. We were happy with our stay at PR.

grossly over priced, services and attitude poor, no internet in room, internet if you buy in restaurant, but to poor to use, only 2 cable points in business center at $1/15 minutes, not always working. [staff blame Palau telikom, but as seen in other business houses and hotels eg ppr, this is not true. Staff were extremely helpful in everyway, organizing tours, booking restaurants, arranging transportations, etc. We were always greeted with a smile. I had to consolidate about 6 bookings due to our last minute flight confirmation. They front desk managed to organize it and even gave us 2 rooms next to each other which was very convenient for us as we are a family of 4. Breakfast was of good quality with a variety of choices. We can pick up bakery items for the days we didn't have time to have breakfast in the dining room. The beds were very comfortable wih a relatively stiff mattress. Bathroom amenities were replenished everyday. Location was very convenient as it is close to town and dive shops. Overall an excellent place to stay in Palau. Will definitely stay at Royal again.

My Dec 2012 stay was lovely and full of Christmasy touches. Beautiful setting right on the harbor with easy access to all ocean activities. Staff are very courteous & particularly tuned into Asian culture and expectations. Clean rooms, but you must insert your room key into a slot to make your lights and A/C function. When you leave the room all electric functions stop - which meant my room never got to a cool sleeping temperature. Surprised that the tap water in the room can not be used for drinking! Buffet had a good mix of American and Asian food choices. I suggest trying their superb 3-course lunch options.

This hotel has an extraordinary characteristic in the ocean pool and private beach; it is located outside of koror in a secluded area, and offers excellent dining. The rooms are good quality, although the absence of a foreroom makes rooms a little noisy (you can hear people showering next to you and if they talk outside you will hear them). TV still old...but overall beds are good quality. The resort offers a great pool and a perfect beach where you can relax. I also tried the spa and i reccomend couples to have the private bath at the evening, because it is excellent. On the negative side, complementary water is given only on the first day...and the transportation to the airport is a little expensive (other hotels give it for free).

A wonderful weekend getaway

My Husband and I had a wonderful experience at this hotel. Everything was first rate and the staff was most accomidating. The rooms were awsome and very clean. We would definitly stay there again.

Good second choice but select Palau Pacific Resort

A nice option if the superior Palau Pacific Resort (known as PPR) is sold out. Royal Resort is clean, friendly and attentive staff, nice pool and beach area. Cons include expensive breakfast buffett that isn't worth it (a small market is directly across the street for misc. breakfast items), water is not potable and yet the resort charges for bottled water. Finally, Internet connections are dreadful so expect dial-up performance. That's true in all of Palau which leverages slow satellite connections.

A truly nice experience

This was my first trip to Palau and the entire experience was great. Although my flight was late the hotel still provided me with transportation. The view from the room was excellent. The staff was professional and friendly. Rooms were clean and spacious. A limited menu for room service and was not 24hrs if late arriving to hotel eating was not an option. Location is not close to another restaurant. Other than that I absolutely loved it.

客室の状態は良かったと思いますが、プールから直で行き来出来る為か、エレベーターの中や部屋前までの通路が水浸しで滑るし危険でその状態を、何時間も放置しているのはどうか？と思います。金額に似合わないと思います。
