It was a horrible experience from the start - comms were so bad that they held us for 45 min to get visa details , they upsell villa and the place lacked cleanliness , bathroom drain did not work , bugs all over the room , swimming pool was dirty , I hardly believe it is reported as 5 star -

This is a great resort property but lacks several amenities. Love the beach and great tasty food.

BUT, For the price you pay, it lacks this:

There is hardly much outdoor/indoor sports (tennis, volleyball, beach ball etc etc). No water sports.

They have a small kids gaming room but lacks much entertainment for kids of various ages. They need to upgrade. Even their bicycles are broken and need repair. Only few are offered for guest.

Resort lacks service. Staff is not friendly. Inside Seagull restaurant, service is slow and staff not friendly. There is also lack of staffing to cater all the guests in a very big resort.

No evening entertainment. It’s kinda boring. Just enjoy the sea breeze. Bayview restaurant staff were not friendly. They just want you to order food and get out. You cannot even enjoy the food by the sea.

Overall, I would give it a 3 star resort as it lacks several amenities.

Beautiful resort perfect for relaxing after a week of business meetings. The staff was accommodating and lovely within all aspects of service. The food was 3-star quality but plenty of options and a willingness to assist on special requests. Highly recommend resort spa options and a walk around the grounds. Beach is quiet and the lifeguard and other amenities are well worth a nap on the chairs under shaded umbrellas. Would recommend!

This is the second time that I’ve come to this hotel after having surgery in Chennai. The staff here is amazing, it is dog friendly, so I get to see dogs around the property, the rooms are very nice and contemporary, the food here is really amazing. When I’m back in the area, I’m definitely coming back!!!!

That said this is no longer deserving of a five star rating in India and is not a good value for the enormous price we paid for 4 rooms for 3 nights(Granted we booked at peak holiday times but we noticed that resorts closer to Mahabalipuram are much more updated and modern for similar price)

I had stayed at a supposedly renovated Garden Block ground floor room on 22 Nov 2023.
Despite the renovation, the bathroom was in terrible condition. The toilet flush did not work properly and while having a shower I was standing ankle deep in soapy water since it was not properly draining. The auto-close function of the main door was barely working and I had to pull it shut each time to ensure it was locked. The door did not look as though it had been polished during the renovation and even looked chipped in one place. My neighbour's room door camera faceplate was hanging from its base unit.
The furniture in the coffee shop had damaged and peeling woodwork and the upholstery was stained and faded.
I have been a guest at Fisherman's Cove for many years and they have to get their act together if I have to go back again.

Amazing beach front property with a very quiet beach with absolutely no crowd. The cottages were sea facing and very comfortable. Shower was luxurious. Room service was excellent. Just a short walk to the beach. Staff use a golf cart to transport people around the property. Food was fantastic both dinner and a breakfast buffet. Coffee was too milky for our likes.

There was always a lifeguard or staff present when we were swimming in the beach!

The aged workhorse

You will feel bad writing some of the reviews, as you always felt part of the brand, family... This is one such review. Taj has been the epitome of services and the last 25 odd years I have been traveling to diff Taj properties. The idea was to have a family get together and for the price we had paid, we had great expectations. Turned out to be disappointment. While staff were courteous with signature Taj service, some areas were far below expectations. The food was without soul. As a chef and adored Taj for years, the food lacked any innovation, surprise, or passion. You could predict what the lunch and dinner menu will be after one look at breakfast and vice versa. Whiie the staff were good the food was a major disappointment. The wait time for any room service ( had aged parents) was 40 odd minutes or more.The property was how I had seen 20 years ago, lacking the newness be it technology or the construction.The room didn't have enough towels, the water leakage/seeping in the open shower, very poor lighting making it difficult to look for rooms in the night. The spa service was good and so was the staff.The staff felt overworked and stressed out and tired though they tried to put a brave front. We all have learned from Taj service/food/ so much and would go down as one of the below expectations property as far as Taj Is concerned.Tried speaking to the Exec chef and the General manager. The chef was busy while I was talking and not sure whether he got it.Not worth the price

Beach area is awesome too and bay view restaurant is a good place to dine in too, but dining in during the day time rather than night would be better!

WHAT WE LOVED: THE STAFF

The entire staff of this property gets an A for a terrific job. The front desk staff, all of the staff at all of the restaurants, housekeeping, the pool attendants, the beach attendants, the drivers and the entire staff gets an A for a job well done.

The staff of this facility are humble, kind, attentive and overall excellent and their jobs.

The food at the facility was also pretty good.

WHAT WE LIKE TO SEE IMPROVED: THE PHYSICAL FACILITY.

The Facility is in desperate need of a facelift. Physically, this resort needs to shut down for a year for a complete renovation.

The overall buildings and all of the rooms need to be renovated.

There is much potential in this property however the physical facility itself is in dire need of a complete overhaul.

The pool and its general surroundings is dilapidated. All of the pool furniture needs to be replace with modern functional furniture’s. The pool itself needs to be redone and all of the structures including the swim up bar needs to be refurbished.

Swim up bar rarely has anything to drink and the staff needs to go inside for simple drinks that is ordered, even a simple beer.

The rooms need a total makeover especially the bathrooms which smells terrible in the mornings. The housekeeping staff are terrific they would come in, in the morning when we complained about the awful smell coming from the bathrooms and they would spray chemicals, but this was a temporary fix.

We hosted a family reunion for 22 people. The TAJ team lead by the manager Mr. Souvik Bhattacharya did an amzing job taking care of the multiple needs of kids to senior citizens. The spaces are airy and we loved the Bayview restaurant on the beach. Grilled seafood with local spices (do not order the western food) was a highlight. Kudos to Chef Tapan Sahoo who took great care of us dealing with multiple allergies.

We stayed at Taj for about 15 days total. Our stay was "Perfect". The staff, chef, service personnel, and house keeping were all 10/10 ranking. Very responsive and proactive. We used the resort's cars for most of our local trips and the front desk staff was very helpful in arranging one for our needs. The view of the Bay from our cottage was breath-taking. There are 3 restaurants in the resort and we visited them all - all of them gave very personalized service. The waiters and chefs accommodated/suggested unique creations and surprised us at every meal. The breakfast (included in our package) was fantastic. We had a wonderful time and heartfelt thanks to the staff.

My favourite beach side hotel in Covelong

It's always a pleasure to be back at Fish Cove!
We arrived 2 hours before check in on dec 20th which is peak season but our cottage was ready which was a blessing.
We asked for an extra bed which was set up immediately.
Housekeeping was very thorough everyday.
Service during breakfast was a bit sloppy maybe because of the sheer number of guests. Everyday we were seated at tables that didn't have a fully service of crockery and cutlery. Every diner was given their own plastic bottle of water which i didn't understand. So eco unfriendly!!
The breakfast buffet was quite extensive.
The grounds of the hotel are impeccable and the beach is for the most part clean.

This was our second trip to Taj Fisherman's Cove. My husband and I loved the food, especially the fresh seafood! Enjoyed lovely view of the sea from our villa! The interior must require a lot of upkeep and maintenance, but I think the staff are on top of it! Would recommend highly.

Stayed in Garden facing room, it is one of that rundown buildings with no disabilities access and it is far ( need to walk 10 mins or more) from the main lobby.

Loved the stay. Outdated property but well maintained and super clean. The pool can be a disappointment for swimmers as it is a kid friendly 4ft pool. Food is awesome in the restaurants. Beach is accessible although the tides were high so we could not get into the water. The beach is dirty along the coast owing to trash washed offshore by the waves. I believe they clean it daily though. Will definitely go back again as it is a much deserved break from the chaos of the city - super calm and relaxing place.

Beautiful garden and pool, glam rooms in a sort of 60s era James Bond way, lovely staff - especially the life guard on the beach, who took great care of us while we swam in the sea. The final bill was quite a bit higher than expected, despite taking into account food, drinks and agreed extras. I emailed the hotel when we got home, but they haven't get back to us.

Big fan of the sea view cottages. Also tried the villas (which I don’t find worth the extra money) and once when all cottages were full, I had a room in the north west wing, which had a nice room but felt the ac was blowing too directly on the bed

the staff was the best part of the hotel, going out of their way to make our stay comfortable. The biggest disappointment was the lack of beach facilities. There were no umbrellas, loungers, lifeguards etc expected from a beach resort. Neither was the beach particularly clean littered as it was with flotsam and jetsam washed ashore. The two beach facing restaurants did not disappoint though, serving Italian cuisine and seafood with a lovely view of the sea.

The only negative thing in this place is the cleanliness of the towels they provide in the rooms, so you can bring your own towels. But in general I recommend this place.

We decided on Fishermans Cove after a previous stay at the Chennai Taj hotel as we really wanted a relaxed beach holiday and had loved the Taj 5* service before. We arrived after a long flight to the organised driver waiting for us- however they brought a small car- the bags just fit (2 cases in total with no hand luggage- so we were hardly overpacking), then he did not have the correct money to pay for the parking at the airport- this resulted in a long negiotation with the staff, the asking us if we had Rupees (which we didn't)- so this continued for about 10 minutes until dollars were found!
So finally on the way, we got to the hotel about 50 minutes later and checked in- we had booked a premium temptation villa on the beach (V35) with a rollaway bed for our son. The villa was in a great location on the beach, however no rollaway bed so we had to call to get that- but the bigger problem was the actual upkeep of the villa- the furniture was old and shabby; the door to the TV consul was broken off, the were rips in the bedding, poor a/c and more worrying- there were gaps between the doors with no screens so the room had a good number of mosquitoes. We called the hotel for some room mosquito spray- they sent some body spray which didn't really work. After one night of being bitten we asked the hotel to move us to a standard hotel room - which was a real shame. Some great staff - Neema on the front desk was very helpful but this is not a 5* hotel.

Exactly what I needed for a two day recovery from jet lag and a hectic work schedule. I was only there for two days but immediately felt a sense of relaxation. I'd highly recommend getting a great massage, then sitting on the cool beach after dark and listening to the waves crash. One of the best resorts I've visited.

Restaurants very good choices excellent service ,long beach for walks,staff really good, nice spotless rooms, bathroom bit small but ok

The hotel is very good but staff response is poor

My wife and I had gone to this resort on our honeymoon. Since it was a special occassion, I had mailed the hotel much in advance to request them to arrange for something special in our room. A simple decoration of the room. I sent the mail twice but there was no response from them. Finally, I decided to call and inform them and they said that they will definitely decorate the room.

On arrival, I was excited to surprise my wife but was very disappointed to find that nothing was done and the manager who helped us with the check in was trying to find out when we would be stepping out from the room so that he could arrange for the decoration to be done then. This spoilt the whole element of surprise for us. I assumed it would all be ready before we checked in itself.

Another advice to those visiting thi hotel in their own vehicle. Please be careful of where you park your vehicle. They have covered space for only 2 vehicles. If you do not get that, your car would be covered in bird droppings. As soon as I reached the hotel, the valet person informed me about this and he was very sweet to let me park in the covered parking since I was staying over. Next day, after we went out and came back, I could not park it in the covered area since it was already full and had to park it in the open. Was shocked to see how bad the condition of the car was with all the bird droppings

Request the management to please provide a covering to the entire parking area to prevent this problem.
