terrible, would not reccommend, would not stay

it was terrible, took almost 2 hours for a toasted sandwhich, the pipes in the bathroom made a noise the whole night.
waitress was rude and there was almost no staff anywhere.
werent directed to our room had to ask and did not get told we could drive there and not walk i had to ask that as well

The stay was good. The room not excellent but clean. The bed comfortable. Hence the has very limited channel. As least have some couple of music channel. Anathi should not wait to be told to serve a paying customer.

Starting from my meal, Waiter failed to give us what we asked for. I forgot my charger and now it's a struggle to get it. Lady who was working day shift on 29 May at the reception is rude and incompetent. She cldnt follow up on getting my charger. I was in room 102 on Friday 27 May.

The staff at this lodge are terrible. I called them to change the date due to my partner being sick and they agreed without a problem. Two days before new date I called to double check if all I’m order and they said I cannot check in as my date has passed and refused to return my refund and they were very rude on the phone!

Place looks much better on the website than in real life. Rooms are very small, fan in room blew sparks when switched on and tripped the electricity. @ units were booked on one booking, but they did not assist us when we requested room closer to each other. Path to rooms are so bad, you can't stop your car near your unit and have to walk through mud with all of your belongings. Kettle did not work in room, no hot water available to shower or bath. Other guests played extremely load music until 3:30 in the morning with no one quieting them. they started with music at 6:00 in the morning again. Staff banning on door at 6:30 in the morning

It was terrible. The place is very nice on the outside but inside is another story. My room was dirty,the floor was dirty, we found spiderwebs on walls and headboards. There was no water, when the water came back, we would struggle to get hot water.

Poor maintenance and service

Time is 1:22 am and have group singing unruly and very noisy. Ist night was allocated to a room with non functional aircon.After complaining was allocated another room,shower head broken ,tv not working and poor wifi signal. Sadly all features are noted as selling features on Hotel.com.Never going to that place again.

Dissatisfied stay at the lodge

The room was a bit stuffy. Had power outages twice in one day. Cleaning services happens in the late afternoon only. Towels in the bathroom could do with a replacement...its very old and over used. Restaurant was closed most evenings for supper. Breakfast was a huge disappointment. No bartender in the bar....staff not knowledgeable about their drinks they stock. It was a huge disappointment. Some of the staff members were very helpful and friendly.

Not bad but not the best.

The place is very nicely decorated and set up. Check in and out was easy, with friendly staff. They couldve done more as i went for a special occasion. The breakfast is slightly overpriced considering its not a buffet. The restaurant menu is also quite limited. Rooms were a nice size but the bedding did have stains which wasnt pleasant. Overall its a nice rest stop but not really much to do at the place itself.

Horrible accommodation & service

Very badly maintained rooms, nothing worked. Phone was disconnected and didn't work, TV didn't have a signal some light bulbs were off and the bathroom could not close. The air didn't have a remote and I waited for the remote till I check out. There was only 3 small towels, stained and didn't look clean at all. Overall the worst accommodation that I've every booked, its hopeless. Maybe that's why it was so cheap.

Unpleasant stay at Shumba

It was a very unpleasant stay. The first room that was allocated to me, the aircon was not working. I was moved to the second room and the aircon was not working. Finally after two hours the third room had a working aircon but it was dripping water and it was making a lot of noise and i finally switch it of.

Great as an overnight stopover - not much else.

Tried out this place for a mini weekend getaway - despite all the negative reviews. Feelings are a bit mixed. As it was a dad/son weekend, besides the incredibly noisy and drunk people at the pool there is sadly nothing to do for kids. This place is a great stopover if your'e catching a flight perhaps the next day, airport is next door. A couple of thatched chalets on a piece of ground next to the road. Doesn't have any kind of 'valley' or 'lodge' feel. Arrived at 3pm and room was not ready (check in is at 2pm). 30mins later we were given another room instead of the one allocated to us. Room seemed to be clean and well appointed but had no towels. Walked down to reception to notify them and was told it would be sorted out soon. Kid went for a bit of a swim and even though I asked for a swim towel 30 minutes earlier I had to go back to reception to beg them for a towel after. Staff didn't seem too concerned. Got back to the room around 6pm from the pool and still no towels. Called reception and another 30mins later 2 fresh white fluffy bath towels arrived. No hand towels or floor towel. Next day we left for the entire day as there is nothing to do here, arrived in the evening, towels were replenished but his time grey and stained, as most previous guests seemed to point out. Can't understand why they don't bleach them? Other than that the stay was overall pleasant. Note if you have kids don't come here expecting any activities. This place is merely a stopover/conference venue.

The rooms are large and comfortable, the breakfasts are excellent and the staff very helpful. The bathroom had a shower and bath and plenty of room we would stay here again, close to Lanseria Airport.

The place isn’t cleane - dust under the bed, shower window not clean - dirt on corners of the room

I wrote a note about stained towels and bed sheets - I received fresh towels with stains and the sheets weren’t changed.

It has the potential but lacks the attention to detail

Pleasant stay.

We went for a family weekend out. There was a problem with the booking, I’m not sure if that was the hotel or hotels.com. We booked for 3 adults and were given a king size bed. Luckily we called before and it was corrected but they still only provided cups and linen for 2 people. We shared towels. Phone wasn’t working as security had tried to call us to check up on booking in. He at least came to see. Lady at reception was very friendly. Buffet dinner wasn’t great but breakfast was really good and the lady frying eggs was very welcoming. 1 bed was very concave. Loud neighbors playing music full blast from their car, should have been asked to be considerate by the hotel staff. Pleasant stay but not sure how it was 4 star rated.

Cleaniness and quality of room for a 4* was very poor. Initial Room -bedding was torn,Teelphone did not work for room service, curtain rail fell apart and the sliding door was not secure. Reception therafter moved us to a new room where we found that the aircon had poured out with water onto the floor while we were having dinner.
We ordered meat Platter for 2- did not have all the meat n it...we thereafter called the chef he said he was out of stock on chicken wings and cheesegrillers which were suppose to be on the platter.

the pool area was of appalling , chairs were broken, tables were not clean, had to ask waiter to wipe it.

the lodge needs to look into lots in order to be rated a 4*

Great chalet. Focus now on little things such as gate guard - to be neat and tidy and aware of cars arriving / leaving. 2 people staying, so how about 2 bottles water instead of 1. Bed side light. Breakfast was awesome, pity about the flies though.

We had a fantastic time at Shumba. We were well looked after,the staff kept making sure we were okay, and if we didn't need anything the food, the room, all and above we expected. Will definitely go back for another stay.
