The hotel seems to have seen better days. The base in the shower was coming off the wall and had mold behind it. There were a few broken things in the room (e.g., the face plate came off the outlets in the bathroom when unpluggin the hair drier). The room had a large balcony which looked out over the bay but the furniture could have done with a wipe down. The garage is undergound and accessed with a car lift which was not for the faint of heart.

The staff were very friendly and helpful and the bed was comfortable but the hotel could do with some maintenance.

Friendly staff, very spacious room, comfortable bed, good shower room. A few ‘teething troubles’ - one of the sockets providing power to the coffee pod machine not fixed to the wall, toilet roll had been wet and left to dry out - not acceptable. Coffee pod machine is a waste of time!
Parking right outside door of hotel was great, easy downhill walk through little streets to main area.
Very nice breakfast. Convenient for 1 night stay before catching ferry.

Good location for amenities and, excellent staff.

We stayed here on the last night of our trip before catching ferry. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Hotel was nice, close to town/bars/restaurants but immediate surroundings of hotel were residential flats and the hotel was definitely out of place in its surroundings. Very glad there was secure parking (for which there was no additional charge 👍) . Only negative about the actual hotel itself was no fridge in the room.

Stylish Santander stay with secure parking

A very warm welcome at the ArtHotel when we arrived from the ferry - we’d requested a parking garage space for our bike and reception could not have been more helpful with advice about the locality and a town map. Our room was modern and very comfortable, and breakfast was excellent in terms of choice and also freshness & hygiene. We will definitely stay again. We loved the quirky modern art styling throughout the hotel and were delighted to meet Manolo, the hotel cat.

Other than the smell of stagnating water in the bathroom and a slow-to-drain sink, the room and bathroom were very nice. Good shower with excellent water pressure. It was tough to get to the right temperature to sleep as the duvet was too warm for the room temperature. The staff was absolutely lovely.

This hotel is in a quiet area just a short walk from the many shops, bars and restaurants in the old town and the seafront.
Our room was large with a very comfortable bed and was very clean. The staff were helpful and friendly, the breakfast was fresh and plentiful with great coffee.
I would definitely stay again.

A view of Hotel Art.

The hotel was in a residential area so near to restaurants, bars and the shopping centre. It is a small hotel but when you walk through the main door you feel you are in a different country. The decor was amazing.
Car parking needs to be reserved as cars need to go into a narrow lift to the underground carpark.
Plenty of choice for breakfast. No bar or restaurant.

what a great place

I booked this place as overnight stay before the ferrry , checked the reviews and what a great place Great staff, great location walking distance from places to eat, main street, loverly view and room great as so was breakfast , tip pay locally for breakfast not on booking sites as cheaper. dont be but of by the wak down to seafront as their is a lift and escalators down between the buildings right outside , and parking !!! this little gem has it all

Nice little hotel. Very central. Free parking which is unusual in northern Spain. The best thing about the hotel, tho, are the staff. Wally and Eveline are very warm, friendly, and engaging people. Always smiling and ready to help. We requested a small fridge in our room and it arrived immediately. We asked for an ice pack to be frozen for our cooler when we travelled on and it was done. Very accomodating. And they both soeak perfect english.

Great staff with good view from the room

Great staff, I had a nice experience when I check in, they did give me very useful information about the area. The room I stayed had a nice bay view with a big terrace.

The one thing we did not enjoy much was the white color of the room light which is not a very good choice for a cozy environment.

Lovely boutique hotel

Close to the lift and outside escalators, we found it easy to find. Close to the centre where there are plenty of bars and restaurants.
The hotel is well decorated and we were greeted by a friendly front desk.
Our room was lovely with a spacious balcony overlooking the sea, comfortable bed, powerful shower, really lovely room and happy to stay again and recommend.

You cannot go wrong with Hotel Art Santander. I stayed here for the first time in 2020 and had to come back. Very conveniently located in the city, within walking distance from good restaurants and bars. The breakfast is varied and healthy and the views of the bay are fantastic. I will definitively check in again on my next visit.

We had a one night’s stay in this lovely hotel. The staff were friendly & really helpful with the parking as they had reserved us a space upon request. The room was spotlessly clean with modern furniture & furnishings. Air conditioned too which was much needed as we were in a middle of a heatwave! Breakfast had a wide selection of drinks with both hot & cold food options. This hotel comes highly recommended & one we would return to in the future.

Quirky hotel above the main part of the city but nice walks down and escalators to help climb the hill back,free parking in garage .
Staff were great .
AC wasnt working properly but due to get serviced the day we checked out.
Mini bar and extra coffees ,only a euro for drinks .

we stayed here for 2 nights. the room had amazing harbour view and the room opens into a large patio/balcony area.
parking is on-site and FREE.

walking distance to many cafes n restaurants

the front reception had good recommendations for local restaurants, and was very helpful.

the aircon can be a bit noisy at night as it is an older hotel. but overall, we enjoyed our stay.

Check-in was fine although I wasn’t offered an upgrade despite the hotel being quite empty. The room was freezing cold and had a single tiny window at head height. I was serenaded by the sounds of slamming doors, flushing toilets and the lift clumping up and down all night. Wouldn’t come back

Great place to stay on a Santander city visit

The 'Art Hotel' is exactly as it describes itself - full of eclectically chosen art (ranging from brutalist to the Versailles Hall of Mirrors and trompe l'oeul at every turn. An interesting place to stay - but remember that 'art' and 'practicality' are not always in full harmony!

Well situated for visiting the harbour area of Santander, which is just downhill (with the return journey on foot aided by several street escalators). The underground garage is accessed by lift, with the reception staff providing very helpful assistance.

Breakfast was good enough, though not spectacular: juice and coffee from a machine, but tortilla and tostada were good.

We stayed in the cheapest rooms with no views. Given that the hotel is built into the side of the hill I assume that this applies to all of the cheaper rooms, which can be lit only by the light filtering down the lift well. Views from the harbour facing rooms are probably good.

We loved this place. It was beautifully decorated, staff were professional, friendly and helpful, we had a terrace room with beautiful views of the ocean. The hotel is up the hill, but there are escalators on the streets one block over from the hotel which made walking back from the city center a breeze. Also, we were able to park our car right outside of the lobby for free. We paid extra for breakfast which was also very good. Overall this place is a great bargain. We highly recommend!

I had a reduced rate room from a website that didn’t show room 107 which gets very little natural light and smells a bit damp. The cooling system could be better too. I was there for only one night so it was ok.
The breakfast didn’t tempt me for 11€

Hotel is somewhat remote, and the location can be somewhat off-putting, its being on a hill and in a tenement area, but this is offset by a combination escalator/elevator arrangement when ascending; descending you walk solution that has its charm, and is a god-send to the residents. Either way it's a ten minute walk to bay side. The hotel accommodations are a mixture of quite adequate and peculiar I liked it well enough, the price is right, and I'd stay there again.

Nicely decorated room but stayed on a wet and cool day in May and the room was roasting. So much so woke up at 2am covered in sweat, feeling rather unwell. Several cold showers later and speaking with staff who advised they are aware of problem with hot rooms and to open window. Didn’t really help. Room was much hotter than hallways and reception, so much so we almost considered sleeping in reception! Couldn’t say if just a bad experience with this room, but wouldn’t want to stay here in height of summer.

The hotel is clean, modern, friendly and in a fantastic location. Would definitely recommend. The only reason I didn't give it full marks was we had trouble with the air-conditioning and the coffee pod was not refilled only the milk pod. Otherwise a great find.

Loved the hotel. Huge comfortable bed. Great, clean modern bathroom. Tried buffet breakfast one morning, wasn't especially good, no fresh tomatoes but rather in a sealed foil pack, very little ham, frozen cake but good choice of cereals and bread. Be aware the town of Santander is on many steep hills rising quickly from the sea up. The hotel has great views but obviously you need to put in the leg work to be able to get up to it and appreciate them.
