Under renovation

The hotel is under renovation. This lead to a lot of noise from 7 in the morning.

There was a lot of builder dust on the first floor, there was no heating in my bathroom (freezing), and the hotel had no option to move to a proper room.

Would definitely avoid staying here until renovations are done.


On the positive side the location is really good, and everything is close.

Staff was very friendly. We would have liked a better view instead of looking at a construction site. Blowdryer broke down. Asked for another one but it never arrived. Asked for ice and the machine was broke. Parking was at another location and almost impossible to unload your luggage at the hotel as it was a bus zone in front of the hotel. We enjoyed the breakfast it was very delicious.

An average, slightly dated hotel near the station. Some of the rooms lacked air-conditioning, the bathrooms were cramped. Some rooms were facing a building site where a new wing was being built. It would have been better to update the existing rooms before building more.

Nice clean hotel with good breakfast buffet and pleasant staff, and also very handy to the train station. Unfortunately, there is a downside to the locale: noisy drunks, screaming and fighting on one occasion, more celebratory on others, kept us awake between 3 and 5 am on three nights of a 5-night stay.

Terrible smell in bathroom and had to change rooms. By end of our stay there was beginning to be a smell in the second bathroom and lid of toilet had to remain closed - a problem with the sewers probably. Cleanliness was poor and there was a noise issue at night - inadequate sound proofing. Breakfast was adequate but with the other issues we were not tempted to eat in the restaurant. Location was good but would not stay here again. Advertised as a 4 star hotel but only worth 3 at the most.

Stayed for a night. Staff at the front desk were friendly and warm. Service was efficient. Restaurant closed for dinner but open for breakfast. Breakfast buffet was generous. There’s a lift once you’re inside the foyer. Worst thing about this hotel was the small ensuite and awful toilet paper, but it has been as bad or worse nearly everywhere in Scandinavia.

Smallest bathroom in the world, Don't stay here.

Smallest bathroom in the world. Water ran either boiling hot or cold. The bathroom floor was uneven and i tripped and cut my toe open, that was fun. The toilet was pressed up to the shower, JUST RIDICULOUSLY SMALL. This was not a cheap hotel, it cost well over $200 CND to stay here. Room was small and cramped, no fridge and the staff seemed totally indifferent to its patrons. I dont recommend this place at all, its in a good location, but there are a lot of other hotels in the area, choose one of those.

A perfect option for business and pleasure

Scandic The Mayor is one of those hotels that looks like a local institution. Its location is literally between the railway station and the town hall, in the heart of the city (most transport lines connect in front of it).

It has a stately shape and the rooms did not disappoint: my wife and I got a superb corner room facing the town hall fountain, iconic tower and park, and the street.

The room was wide, with enough space (apart from a wide double bed) for a padded reading corner, table with TV and working space, and a tea table with two stylish leather armchairs. Plus storage space.

A large, practical bathroom complemented the room. Simple, Scandi furnishings, with dignified lines and sturdy materials.

Free tea and coffee in the room. No minibar / fridge though (perhaps the only minus).

Breakfast was a good spread including muesli/granola, sandwich ingredients, eggs, pastries and fruit, plus tea/ coffee/ juices (including self-press for oranges).

The breakfast restaurant is a Michelin-starred establishment in the evening.

They also have a paid-for mini-shop with toiletries and snacks. Perhaps toiletries not stuck to the wall would have added to the atmosphere, although I appreciated the quality and brand (FACE).

Overall, we had an absolutely great stay, in a large dignified, well-designed room, and with good breakfast during a busy business trip.

If I have the chance, I will surely return!

Vi fik lov at skifte fra et værelse der lå ud til gaden til et stille og helt nyrenoveret som lå roligt ind til gården. Derudover fik vi lov til at blive til kl. 16 dagen efter, da min datter var blevet syg ila natten. Rigtig god service fra et meget flink personale.

Verdens mindste enkeltværelse med til gengæld et strygebrædt så stort, at det ikke kan være i skabet, men stod og optog plads i værelset. Vasken i badeværelset er så lille, at en vandflaske ikke kan komme ind under hanen, og der var ikke et vandglas på værelset. Ingen kedel, tekopper eller te/kaffe. Meget gadestøj. Værelset var ikke klart ved ankomst, og personalet i receptionen fortalte ikke, at toilettet i kælderen krævede en nøgle, så det var op og ned flere gange.
Morgenmadsbuffeten var ikke sædvanlig Scandic-standard - røræggene var ikke rørte, men en slimet masse fra karton, bacon var ikke sprøde skiver, men det hakkede til pizza fra supermarkedet, agurkerne slimede osv. En meget skuffende overnatning til over 1600 kr for værelset og 179 kr for morgenmad, som var 79 kr værd.

Jeg var overrasket over check in først var kl 16:00.
Kl 14:30 kunne vi så hver betale 200 for at få nøgler (vi havde 4 værelser). Det gad vi selvfølgelig ikke give 800 for. Da vi ikke ville det så kom hun og sagde at vores værelser alligevel var klar. Dejligt men alligevel lidt pengemaskine først at bede om

Personalet var venlige. Men værelset var virkelig ikke godt. Der var en del ting der ikke spillede. Fx var der mega koldt, og radiatoren virkede ikke. Toilettet skyllede ikke ordentligt ud. Det første værelse vi fik, nummer 138 lugtede af toilet. Vi fik et nyt, nummer 106. Toilettet var så tæt på døren i badeværelset, at vi ikke kunne sidde på det, som man almindeligvis gør. Vi kunne ikke få frisk luft ind om natten, da vejen støjer for meget. Der er ingen aircon. Der er ikke et køleskab på værelset. Fjernsynet var ikke tilsluttet noget signal. Ledningen stak ud af væggen. Der er en el-kogekedel til at lave noget kaffe eller te. Den står på bordet ved fjernsynet. Men der er ikke nogen stikkontakt. Sengen var hård, hovedpuden var for lille og dynen var ikke god. Det var virkelig ikke en god oplevelse.

Central beliggenhed, venligt personale, god seng, lækker morgenbuffet.
Desværre overnattede jeg der i en varm sommerweekend, så jeg måtte vælge mellem at have vinduet åbent og få meget larm fra gaden eller at lukke vinduet for larmen og så have et alt for varmt værelse. Der var ingen anden mulighed for nedkøling.
Det skal siges, at jeg bor på landet og er derfor ikke vant til bylarm. Andre kan måske godt sove fra det.

Vi havde desværre ikke en særligt god oplevelse da et af vores værelser var oppe på 5 sal og ikke holdt standarden man vil forvente af et standard værelse. Det var skrå vægge og slet ikke plads, udover det ville der være god stil at oplyse om at i renoverer med så kraftig påvirkning på hotellet så at man kan beslutte på baggrund af den information hvis man stadigvæk ønsker bo der.

Centrally located right by the central station. Not a very attractive reception. Everything feels very closed and cramped with no outdoor areas at all. There seems to be a great deal of renovation going on so perhaps these things will improve. The entire stay was entirely average. Quite a bare bones approach to hospitality and comfort. Thankfully I spent very little time at the hotel, so I have no complaints and no glittering reviews. The price was perhaps a bit too high for what you get.

Dejligt centralt i Århus. Vi fik dog et værelse med et meget meget lille badeværelse (sådan et nørrebrobadeværelse, hvor man skal bakke ind og hvor alt er vådt når man har været i bad(vær. 242)).
Skøn morgenmad, hvor de blødkogte æg faktisk er blødkogte.

Reparation på hotellet med icke fungerande hiss till översta våningen där vi bodde med ett litet barn. Rummet var inte i klass med fotografierna på annonssidan och hade en unken lukt som inte gick att vädra ut. Korridorerna luktade väldigt starkt av nåt vi inte kunde identifiera. Märklig lukt. Frukosten ok. Svårt med parkering. Priset på parkeringen blev dyrare än vad vi förstod av informationen.
