This is a very quiet, under-the-radar resort located in a peaceful part of Bali. It’s definitely not the place if you’re looking for noise or a lively atmosphere, but if you want genuine relaxation and tranquility, this is a great choice.

Special thanks to Chris and his team who made an extra effort to ensure our stay was comfortable. They went above and beyond to meet our needs.

The resort has a huge swimming pool which was a highlight for us. There is a restaurant on-site, though dining options within the hotel are limited. That said, there are a few good local restaurants nearby so you still have some nice choices.

One downside is that parts of the property feel a little dated but considering the age of the hotel, it’s not too bad. It would also be nice to see more activities especially for kids to make it more family-friendly.

The rooms were European colonial age style with high ceilings and nice amenities. The pool was nice and the staff were extremely helpful and attentive. The meals, both breakfast and dinner were excellent. When the hotel vacancy level is low they switch from a buffet style breakfast to a set menu with a number of options with both of equal quality. While remote a small town with restaurants and amenities is only 10 minutes walk away and the hotel is across from the Bali Safari Park.

This is the place where I did my proposal in the magical chapel they have in their resort which is kind of like the Crown Jewel of the resort. Absolutely beautiful and magical place this is which has left me in awe! The entire management the rooms, the view, the staff was so kind, friendly and helpful, I am overwhelmed with emotion! Knowing I am doing my proposal here, they even upgraded me to the Ocean View Suite which is honestly the best and the most wonderful suite I’ve ever stayed in. The entire staff, the elegant lady at the reception, the duty manager, Yoga, Ani and a lot of other made our stay so please Ira ke, it’s beyond words. Mr Lufi is a master at photography who took the most wonderful photos of our event so professionally, he should be lauded for it! Mr Dika who processed them and provided me with the photos also another gem of a person. I will run out of people but can’t thank enough of them for this stay at a hidden gem of Bali in Gianyar! Absolute perfection! All our love to Rumah Luwih Bali for making this the most memorable and wonderful trip of our lives!

2 stars for the housekeeping staff and the restaurant staff at the hotel, everything else was not a 5 star experience to say the least. 1st the property was false advertising the selected room and when I reached out and confirmed the marketing was false they took no accountability, Expedia had to pay the difference for the room change in order for me to proceed with my stay. The property needs major renovations to be considered 5 star. Our room ceiling would leak in the bathroom when it rained, cabinets in restroom falling off, no ligting on the balcony, no chairs or seating area to enjoy the ocean views, we had to move indoor furniture to the balcony. I found staff at the reception to be rude and dismissive when a item of clothing went missing at the pool. The beach in front of the property is dirty and not enjoyable. I even seen a man deficating in the ocean while I was taking a stroll around the property. The only working AC on the property is the rooms, everywhere else its extremely hot and uncomfortable. The other thing I felt odd was no spa menu available, only in reception and had to take a picture for reference, the hotel missed out of hundreds by following this practice. When I ran into deciptive marketing that should've been clue to avoid at all cost but I proceeded and take full accountability. My stay was definitely regretful. I will not return nor would I recommend to anyone seeking a 5 star property.

The conditions and cleanliness of the hotel was deplorable! There was no beach as stated and no VIP platinum upgrade whatsoever. The only thing that made it enjoyable was breakfast and then we checked out two days early.

Very friendly staff, helpful and kind, even learned our names and remember them. Enjoyed that we tried to speak some of their language. The breakfast buffet only on weekends was beyond enjoyable. The staff suggested a private beach, which turned out to be very excellent.

Don't be fooled. This is not a 5-star property. For everything you ask, the staff will give an answer that we are under new management and ongoing changes.
No workable gym. Excuse - We are under renovation.
No activities. You can feed the swans which roam at the property, a pathetic excuse for an activity. I didnt see even a child doing this and no staff even showed up at 4 p.m. for the activity.
Minifridge in a 5-star property supposed to have a few items (chargeable). I open it, it is empty and not even working.
No lotion or hand towel. I can go on and on.
They have one omelette station and limited items, but their prices are like you are eating in a real western 5-star. Service and food are far from it.
PLEASE BE SURE THEY ARE NOT STEALING YOUR PERSONAL DATA. After repeatedly saying no, I was surprised to receive an email - welcome new IHG member. What???? I contacted Expedia and IHG right away, spending time on my holiday with customer care, and finally IHG support person told me that your account was created by front desk. Is this a joke? The staff will trick you and when confronted with IHG chat, she accepted that she did that, even going to the point that it is free. Again, no explanation or even a sorry for doing something which I declined three different times during my check-in and within an hour of being there. STAY AWAY!

Great property with swimming pool and beach view. It is far from almost everything. If you want to visit Bali and want to be away from everything and can do with very limited dinning options, this place might be for you. To get around from this property to anywhere around , give yourself a hour of travel time. For our next visit, we will pick somewhere closer to Sanur or Ubud.

Not quite the Bali experience you might expect.

The hotel grounds are very beautiful and the view of breaking waves is relaxing. The hotel is 'on the beach' but the beach sand is covered with debris; the hotel bordered by two small rivers with fast water emptying into the ocean so impossible to walk the beach far at all. So, don't think about a long walk on the beach. The breakfast buffet was exceptional. Free use of bikes is unrealistic as the speeding motorbikes, sometimes on the road shoulder make a bike ride unsafe.

The staff and room are great. It’s a very nice hotel. This was my first time to Bali and I didn’t really know the different areas. I loved the hotel but the only thing is that it’s in a very quiet location with little to see or do outside the property.

Such a gem of a hotel- couldn’t have asked for more! A little bit of luxury :) The staff were so welcoming, accommodating and courteous, especially all the servers in the restaurant. The food was exceptional! Loved the infinity pool too, the grounds are kept immaculately. My room was beautiful, plenty of space and lovely design. A wonderful stay.

I have travelled across the world for over 50 years and never have i experienced a property of this outstanding quality across every facet of hospitality. The physical characteristics are exceptional; the gracious elegance of the building, the combination of views from the ground floor of the huge lateral pool over looking a lake which over looks the ocean.
The quality service by everyone from the large gardening team caring for the beautiful grounds to the housekeeping to the reception to the restaurant staff is simply faultless.
The GM , Rajiv Srivastava, must be given the credit as he would have to take the responsibility for any defects.
The resort experience was so excellent / relaxing / perfect we never moved out to explore the beauty of Bali.
We will return here but next time for longer so we can have another week here.

From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed with warm smiles and exceptional hospitality. The staff is the heart of this hotel—friendly, professional, and always eager to assist.

The hotel itself is stunning, with elegant decor, spotless rooms, and breathtaking views. My room was spacious, well-furnished, and incredibly comfortable, providing a perfect retreat after a long day of exploring. Housekeeping did an outstanding job maintaining cleanliness and ensuring a fresh and inviting atmosphere throughout my stay.

The dining experience was equally impressive. Every meal was a delight, with fresh ingredients, delicious flavors, beautiful presentation, impeccable service and attention to detail.

The facilities were also excellent. The pool was pristine and the spa a haven of relaxation.

Overall, my stay at Hotel Rumah Luwih was absolutely wonderful, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for comfort, luxury, and outstanding service. With a few small additions, it could easily become a dream destination for all types of travelers.

Staff wise, Jia and Ali were lovely.

Hotel was lovely though in need of a bit of a touch up. The balcony of the room we stayed in was massive but could have done with sun loungers as a waste of space. Also one of the railing struts was loose and dangerous as a child could push against and fall.

Pool was fantastic but loungers were past their best and in need of replacing as too low, falling to bits and mattresses were splitting and fraying.

There was nothing to do in evening as no bar, we just watched TV in room.

Food was average.

The gym was disgusting and stunk of mould, carpet was stained.

Ot was lovely going to sleep to sound of waves. Gardens and grounds were very well maintained. Enjoyed watching the resident family of geese each morning as they swam the lilly pond.

We had a very relaxing stay and the staff were very welcoming and accommodating.

A total mess, under big refurbishment & construction. Nothing like described on the website or other media. Rooms dirty, moldy & damp, had to clean cupboards ourselves before use. The pool with 2 sun loungers & 2 bean bags & restaurant were the only facilities for use.
Ended up staying 2 nights but booked in for 14, cancelled booking, got total refund (thank you) & moved. We stayed here few times in the past when it was lovely. We enquired why the huge difference then found out it had been closed with no maintenance for the last 3 years.
Sorry staff but it had to be said & you really do need new uniforms.

Rumah Luwih is a beautiful hidden gem, surrounded by beauty and insane scenery of the beach. It is a special quiet haven away from the busyness of Bali it is a real retreat. Lovely hotel and rooms but isolated.

Really nice hotel building and rooms with a gorgeous pool area.
However the location is not in a tourist area, there's nothing much around except some small supermarkets and restaurants for locals and the beach is black volcanic sand. There really was nothing to do except sit by the pool and admire the view.
Aside from a large wedding party and maybe one other couple we seemed to be the only other guests.
Because if the wedding party the only bar - aside from the restaurant was closed to any other guests, which really limited our options!
Breakfast was a large buffet, although the western offering was quite limited. Unfortunately even though breakfast was served until 11am, at 10am we were disturbed by a call to our room asking if we were going to breakfast and if so what time were we going. Luckily we had just woken but I can't recall a hotel doing that before.
Overall it's a lovely hotel but with nothing much around or in the hotel to do we wouldn't return. It's really more set up for large wedding party's.

Rumah Luwih is beautiful. Styled as a mansion by the sea rather than an impersonal hotel, it is easy to imagine you actually live in this enormous house. Stunning interiors and exteriors. The rooms are spacious and the staff are friendly.
However, Rumah Luwih is very isolated and is 30 minutes minimum from anywhere and the hotel staff only offer their own very expensive transport options. There are taxis and Uber style services on offer but they often don't want to drive out this far. For this reason, I would not stay here again. If Rumah Luwih were more helpful providing free shuttles or competitively priced transport all day and night til 11pm, I might reconsider.

Even though the property is in the middle of the city, you feel like you are in a place of your own. Very peaceful and quiet, can't hear the traffic noise from the main street at all. Staff are extremely friendly and accommodating. Great place for relaxing and the view is awesome!

A shocking value!

While a little out of the way of many attractions the Rumah Luwih is a destination upon itself. A brilliant presentation at every level with an incredible attention to detail. The food was top notch and the service was better than I had come to expect in even the top hotels and restaurants. Fantastic pool, gorgeous grounds and plenty of room for anything your heart desires. I will absolutely suggest this to others.

Beautiful neo colonial style with 4 meter ceilings. Very luxurious with an old world charm. Seems to be popular for government meetings and weddings. Very good breakfast. Not much to do or see within walking distance but they do offer free shuttle service to Sanur and Ubud. Hotel is missing a bar and coffee station, but they do serve both on veranda. What i found most surprising, and disappointing was the hotel does not have any chairs on its balconies. Imagine staying at a luxury hotel with a balcony facing ocean and you can't sit outside and relax and breath in the ocean air.

A real gem in the island paradise of Bali

Quite possibly the best hotel experience I have ever had.
Ok, so the hotel is a little out of the way, and if you want pulsating nightlife and a buzzing bar vibe until 4am this is not going to be the place for you, but if you want peace, quite, spend our and simply outstanding and friendly service then you must come here.
The rooms are big, with expansive high ceilings, all amenities you’d expect and a big bathroom, stocked with complimentary toiletries. There a safe, tea and coffee, plus a complimentary mini bar, with drinks replenished daily.
The on site spa is small but offers a good range of massage therapies at very low prices.
The food is fabulous; choose Asian or international, and select a bottle of good wine or an aperitif to accompany your dining experience. You really should try the coconut too; a very refreshing alternative!
The grounds are immaculate; the hotel faces the ocean (the sea is quite rough here but the black sand - trust me, it’s ok - is clean and plentiful) and there is a picturesque man made lake between the beach and a beautiful heated infinity pool, plus jacuzzi. There’s even a small kids play area, equipped with plenty to amuse the youngsters ( but far enough from the pool to disturb those who would rather not have the little ones running around).
Special mention goes to the lovely staff, especially Tira, who really do go out of their way to make you feel special . They even opened up the restaurant an hour early just for us one morning! Fa!

Beautiful small resort

Beautiful British colonial style resort hotel. Very different ambiance from other typical resorts in Bali. Helpful and kind staff. Restaurant was excellent both service and food. Spacious and well decorated rooms. Beach wasn’t very attractive and needs to be cleaned. Regardless of a lot of package tourists there while I was staying and it ruined the beautiful atmosphere of the hotel a bit, I’ll definitely come back.

Hidden gem in Gianyar

The hotel was quite new and good atmosphere and we found one local restaurant nearby which is nice as well. The hotel is good for couple, family and surfers as it is located on surf spot in Gianyar. The facilities and amenities of the hotel were really nice in very good condition as well. This hotelnis like a hidden gem in Gianyar. Definitely worth every rp you spend
