The.reason to stay here was for the balcony view of the animals. My kids were super excited to feed the animal from the balcony.

Overall room was clean, but do expect critters during your stay. As this is an outdoor resort, they will be bugs, lizard that might make their way into your room.w

However, you can always call the hotel staff to remove the lizards.

Overall, our stay was good. Food at the hotel was good quality, but not as great as some of the other places in Bali for the same money.

Rooms were clean on the surface, but could use a deep clean and a bit of a renovation in some spots since they are showing signs of wear and tear.

Amazing stay! Stepping out onto the balcony to see zebras, wilderbeast, a rhino, a giraffe and elephants is such a fantastic experience. The buffet breakfast is in the lions den! We booked the Night Safari and highly recommend this, we were in a cage, travelling through the safari park feeding animals in the dark.
Book a Twiga room for 1st floor rooms with animal view, some of these have connecting rooms whereas the family suites seem to overlook the pool area.

Best Easter Weekend ever! We booked the family room (Kifaru) for 3 adults with 2 bedrooms/ 2 bathrooms for 2 nights, which included breakfast with the lions and entrance to the safari park. We attended breakfast right when they opened at 7am due to jet lag and everything was fresh with so many options: both western and eastern cuisines, made to order eggs, pancakes one morning and waffles the next morning, juice bar, fruits, salads, and I even met their head chef…he was eager to talk to me when I told him that I’m a personal chef. Coffee is included except specialty items like mimosas, cappuccinos and lattes but reasonably priced Our room was near the spa/pool. Pool was great with a swim up bar and zebras, wildebeests and rhino are right in front of us. We brought carrots they left for us in our room to get them to come closer. Staff is so nice, helpful, and always eager to assist us with anything. We were so lucky to be able to book breakfast with giraffes, which can only be done at check in at an extra cost and only one guest/family can book each morning (weather permitting). We also booked the night safari package with buffet dinner and fire show…loved this experience too! If you love animals definitely book this place! Better than Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge!

We had an incredible one-night stay at Mara River Safari Lodge in the Kifaru Family Suite. The room was spacious and welcoming, complete with a fruit platter on arrival. The balcony offered breathtaking views, and feeding zebras directly from it with carrots left in little baskets was an unforgettable experience!

The pool was conveniently located right next to our room, adding to the luxury and relaxation of our stay. This was truly the best stay we’ve ever had, and we highly recommend not just doing a day trip. Experiencing at least one night here is an absolute must!

Oh, don’t forgot to have breakfast with lions. Please make sure book the seating/table in advance next to the big open glasses so you have the best view.

DO NOT MISSSSSSS THE FIRE DANCE if you are staying at Mara river safari lodge :)

Had a great time, but mainly for the Taman Safari

The main attraction of the lodge is that it is attached to the Taman Safari Park which showcases an amazing array of indonesian, indian and african wildlife. The journey thru the \"safari lands\" in special buses is outstanding and the park caters to all ages and I think a must see for any visitor to Bali. Now to the lodge itself. Its a great concept and well executed however long overdue for an update. As an example the suite we stayed in cost NZD$800 per night and and iniitally we were wowed. That did include 2 complimentary Safari Journeys to be fair. However on closer inspection our phone stopped working, internet was really patchy, the mosquito screens in the bathrooms were damaged, one of the bathrooms had a leak in the ceiling, the shower slide kept dropping down, etc etc. Still on the negative it was hard to get information on what activities and what facilities were provided. A QR code was provided but was updated and the WiFi situation made it hard.On the plus staff were excellent, food was very reasonably priced for a hotel, and goid quality.

I was nervous after reading reviews and hearing there are only two giraffe breakfast spots daily, but I was quickly reassured upon arrival. A kind staff member explained we could still privately feed the giraffes, from the same spot as breakfast, for much less cost and with the same 1:1 experience. The Tsavo restaurant had delicious food and fantastic service, especially from Ayu (worked Dec 13-14). She treated us like friends, making our stay extra special. The buffet breakfast featured adorable animal-themed foods.

We stayed in a Twiga room with a breathtaking view—better than my trip to Africa! The bed was huge, with an extra one for our daughter, and tossing carrots to wildebeests from our balcony was a highlight. Some reviews mentioned bugs, but we saw just one fly and a harmless bug—less than in my house during Australian summers.

I had low expectations for the park itself but was blown away. The kids’ splash park, with multiple slides and pools, was almost empty, and even adults enjoyed the slides. The animal experiences were incredible; we fed and patted elephants and meerkats, and the park was so quiet it felt exclusive. The Lion Restaurant was so good the lions roar a lot and watch you eat haha.

All the staff were lovely, despite some reviews calling them rude—I only saw staff being kind unless provoked by rude guests. My skeptical husband was won over, and we can’t recommend Mara River highly enough. Thank you for unforgettable memories!

This was one of our favorite places we've ever stayed up. To wake up and see animals out of your balcony wow! We highly recommend staying here. Breakfast was good as well, and they made a lot of cute animal dishes. The only one bad thing we'd say is there were some ants in our room. However there were ants in all the rooms we stayed at in Bali.

The room was lovely, and easy access to the Safari Park, and all it had to offer, with the cost already built into the cost of the accommodation for most things. Atmosphere around the hotel is excellent but hotel facility and cleaning condition is very poor. Insects and bug issues in the hotel could make the room more comfortable to stay. There were few sticky floor area with ants when we got there.

Amazing set along side of the zoo being able to throw carrots to the zebras. Watch them walking around. Breakfast with lions walking past the windows was very cool. The buffet breakfast was lovely. We paid for the buffet dinner and watched the fire dance.. very nice.
Catching the tour bus thru the zoo was fun followed by a day exploring the zoo . Getting to pat and touch/ hold several animals and get photos with them AMAZING… best part of our trip was coming here got to feed one of the elephants… nice area

We have been coming here for 11 years now but not again. Still charging top dollar to stay here but very run down. Reception staff very hard to understand and they just answer “yes” to everything. Restaurant staff amazing, amazing explaining our tour and that we should have arrived an hour earlier for our meal that is included in the tour but we could come after tour. Time on receipt was 7pm and we arrived at 6.30pm. Night Safari was delayed because a large group arrived and we had to wait. We were put on 1 truck then asked to leave that truck and wait for the next. That felt so wrong. Many disappointments with the hotel and the park. My list could go on but we will not return. Guessing 2 less people will not make a difference but it will to us

Had a ton of fun here, really brings you back to a sense of childlike wonder for the animal kingdom.

I booked a Twiga room, on the second floor. You’re close enough to toss carrots to the zebras in the free roaming zone below. It also came with a free safari pass. I thought it could be better that they don’t help you book events like Feed the Predator in advance after you book your room — we didn’t know we’d need to book it in advance so couldn’t do it the day we wanted to, and nearly missed out on the experience.

The park itself is great and I definitely recommend checking out all the shows you can, each was better than I expected.

This is an amazing resort and experience. So beautiful with outlook from your balcony over an African panorama. Rhinos, zebras, wildebeest, giraffe to greet your morning coffee views. The staff are so excellent here in every area, genuine helpful friendliness caring to provide you the best stay experience. The Tsavo Lion restaurant is remarkable. Delicious breakfasts then the lunch and dinners are of 5 star quality and the service is truly exceptional! Watching the lions in their beautiful natural environment while dining is spectacular for both young and old. The park does an amazing job for the protection of animals and endangered species. Their breeding programs and introducing the animals back to their natural habitats is recognized by experts globally. Their animal and education shows teach children and adults the issues faced by animals from the environment and how we can help. The children’s interaction and closeness to these amazing animals brings hope to their future. This is a unique experience to stay at such a resort. An experience not to be missed!

The value of the room was good, because you get to walk around the park freely. The room could use some essential upgrades for comfort. One of the things needed is a misqiuo net. There were a lot of openings where bugs can get in so having some time cleaning and sealing is also wanted.

Tough one to explain...

It’s overpriced and disappointing yet I’m glad that we went. I have no regrets dropping $700-$800 on our two day stay.

First off, the Twiga rooms aren’t as cool as they seem in the pics online. I had visions of closely interacting with wildlife from my balcony and feeding them practically by hand. There’s actually a pretty far distance separating you from the animals. Especially sucks if you’re unathletic like myself and can’t even give a carrot a good throw. Same deal with the pool. There will be no baby tigers or rhinos hanging out poolside.

It’s very buggy there. I do a lot of traveling so it’s not that I have unrealistic expectations of a bugless Indonesia. Heck, I’m currently surrounded by mosquitos in northern Bali as I type this review and am totally cool with it.

...but Mara is buggy’er than usual. There were quite a bit more in the room than anywhere else we’ve stayed. The doors and windows are not sealed off well.

The staff doesn’t give that Balinese sweet hospitality vibe. They felt more reserved. They didn’t give the same “makes you feel like family” type of vibe that we experience elsewhere in Bali.

So, after all of that complaining, why am I saying it’s a “must visit”?

Freakin’ Tigers.

Being so up close and personal with the tigers on the night safari was a once in a lifetime experience that made it worthwhile.

Also, feed the white tigers during the day. Amazing!!!

After spending 6 nights in busy Seminyak we had booked a room at Mara River and booked the Safari lodge, and we were glad we did. We stayed in a family room, which consisted of 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom a mini kitchenette, living room and balcony. Although not modern, the room was still clean. The bathroom were and outdoor style with and window which we quite liked as it was something different. The balcony had view of the safari animals. We also we see the animals straight from the bed. It was so relaxing and calming to sit and watch the animals.

The air conditioning in the master bedroom was working quite well. After sending out the technician and still not being satisfied, the lovely Fernando from reception organised for us to move rooms conveniently next door as it was late at night and we had already unpacked, he allowed us to keep our bags in the original room and sleep in the new room with the air conditioning working. This was much appreciated!

We got to enjoy having breakfast and dinner with the lions and an elephant ride to breakfast. We done the night safari which was an unforgettable experience seeing all the animals, being able to feed them and have the tigers crawl over the cage. We also done the day safari which was at fantastic experience in air conditioned bus.

Overall we are glad we had booked to stay at Mara River after an exhausting week in busy Seminyak, it was perfect to sit and unwind and listen to the animals

A unique and beautiful lodge in Bali. The staff was professional, friendly, genuine and caring. They certainly went the extra mile to make sure we were very well taken care of. The accommodations were comfortable, clean, and spacious and very much made you feel as if you were in an African lodge. The animals appeared well cared for and happy. The animal experiences were humane and truly an unforgettable experience. The night safari is an absolute must! Our son had a wonderful and memorable time feeding the zebras and wildebeest from our balcony and the staff was more than kind in giving him extra carrots to feed every time he asked. The Tsavo Lion Restaurant was an unforgettable experience and a unique way to dine. The safari park was conveniently located a short walk away and the free entrance made for ease in seeing the park at different times at our own pace. All around it was a wonderful experience and should the opportunity ever present itself we would be more than happy to return.

The property setting is beautiful and the rooms are comfortable and well equipped. I got a bit squeamish about seeing the animals in the same place everyday and not able to move around freely. The elephants work hard all day carrying people around I’m not sure whether that’s good for them.

Have visited park many times now and always a very relaxing and enjoyable stay. The animals are so well cared for and most exhibits you are in enclosed vehicle rather than animals being enclosed. My boy had learnt so much of the animals and understands how great the park does with endangered species. He speaks at his school and does reports on protecting the elephants and tigers. Through the Bali safari and Mara River animal experiences wonderful wildlife is being saved and children and adults can learn here and understand better. Thankful such a great place is available to enjoy and knowing your fees and visit will HELP not hurt animals! Thanks the wonderful staff make our stay so special.

Fun experience, got the chance to see white tiger, feed meerkats, took photos with elephants and parrots etc. Hotel staffs were friendly and helpful, the room was clean.

A perfect experience living with animals! Just Go out to the balcony and we can see and feed the animals, exactly the same as advertised! Beautiful view. Even can see animals at the pool. Loved it! But the room itself was a bit old and there were geckos anywhere but since it is a hotel inside the zoo I think that is understandable. Staff are nice and helpful! Overall very good experience.

This hotel is perfect for an amazing experience.

The infinity pool is heated and you can see the animals whilst swimming!
The lodges are a perfect size for a couple and you are given carrots to feed to the animals in the morning, which was a wonderful experience.

You get free entry to the park when you book the hotel, however, you will need to pay for all the other options: elephant ride, safari ride (lasts about 20 mins and you get to see all the animals in the park - a must see), photos, shows etc.

The food in the main restaurant is decent however, quite expensive for what you get. The breakfast was not as good as i've had in other hotels but there were options available. Having breakfast nearby the Lions was amazing!

I went with my partner and stayed for one night which I thought was the perfect amount of time to experience everything. I would definitely recommend this place for couples and families.

The only downside was that the receptionist staff were not as friendly and welcoming as other hotels i've stayed in within Bali. The restaurant and concierges were however, helpful and friendly.

Breakfast with the lions. Seeing them close in a natural setting. The comfortable rooms and balcony overlooking the wildlife and even being able to toss them some food. The staff are wonderful here, friendly and helpful always. Also like that the park is very strong in breeding programs and research and education to protect wildlife. They do amazing work for our environment.

Unique night away from tourist Bali

We stayed at the Safari Park for just one night, attempting to cram everything into two daytimes. The rooms within the park are excellent, and you can normally view animals from your room balcony. Fruit and veg (carrots, oranges etc.) are provided in your room to throw to the animals and attempt to lure them slightly nearer your accommodation.
The park is huge and they have a massive variety of animals, all that appear to be cared for appropriately. The pool is a hidden delight too, in view of the rhino and zebras and is superb on a warm day.
I have to say the night safari we paid for was extremely expensive in comparison to other activities in Bali and lasted just 30 minutes. A free buffet BBQ was provided, which was good quality, but overall I would say it wasn't worth it.

I found this hotel absolutely divine. No complaints or areas for improvements. The rooms are large, well appointed and done up in African safari motif. Bed comfy, bathrooms well equipped, security excellent. The animals are right outside your balcony. So peaceful day and night. I had a second floor room and the view was to die for. While I enjoyed the safari park and don't really need to revisit the park, If I return to Bali, I could easily spend a day or two at this lodge. I just loved it. So Perfect.

Unique hotel stay

Overall, the stay was excellent. However the website has not been clear that hotel guests are actually entitled to free entry into the safari and to most of the shows. Hotel guests just have to pay for the safari journey, waterpark and Agung Show if they want to visit.

I had bought the tickets in advance and only to realise when i checked in at the hotel. :(

Recommended stay for visiting the Safari Park

Great room and interesting to overlook the animals and toss carrots to them for pictures; however, the animals were not around in the evening or overnight (presumably ushered to other enclosures). Similar animals to what you will see at the zoo and several exhibits were closed, which left the park a bit underwhelming for us on that side (thus our lower ranking for the Local Area, as there wasn't much else around). Great breakfast buffet with accompanying views of lions, but on-site dinner is expensive; however, this is nicely offset by the hotel offering some free limited shuttle service to nearby restaurants that are much more reasonably priced (I recommend going slightly further down the road to Warong Legong which was both excellent food and very reasonably priced with a great owner and wonderful service; they also offered free shuttle for us from the restaurant). Good discounts offered at the Safari Park, with the basic ticket cost also included in the room cost. Great service from the staff and fun fire dance show in the evening. WiFi available but slow, like most other places. All said, if you are interested in going to the Bali Safari Park, we would definitely recommend staying at the Mara River hotel here as well.

Ok for kids.

Food was the worst we had in 14 days of travel in Bali. If you have children and a lit of money, this is the place to go. If you’re an adult you’ll probably find it boring. We only saw 6 other people staying there so it was pretty much deserted unless a tour bus showed up. Disappointing.

African experience

This half-resort-half-zoo seems like a weird combination at the first glance, but it offers an unique experience. Feed zebras from your balcony, get a ride in the cage and see lions and tigers.
The fences are very discreet, and the animals seem pretty content (as much as they can be in the captivity)
